Yikes, 25 hours afterwards and still no thread. Then again, I don't really know what to say either but wanted to at least create an appropriate place for the bereaved and mourning to gather to sit shiva.
This dreck was unbelievable. This has to be the next show canceled this season; I wouldn't have been surprised if they had yanked it during one of the commercial breaks last night. It would have been far more humane.
Have been scratching my head all day trying to come up with a witty top title rhyming "Hank" and "yank" but have nothing.

Hopefully, they're saving Jordan Hinsons' spot back at "Eureka", because this was a trainwreck.

I thought it had it's moments. There were some very funny lines in there and the premise was interesting. That said, sigh, I doubt I'll tune in again. Assuming they show another episode that is.

I was so hoping that this sitcom was going to be really good. I didn't connect with any of the characters. The whole thing just didn't ring true. I don't see this show going much farther.

Is it too late to bring Frasier back? Kelsey can't seem to get any decent gigs since that ended. First, "Back to you" and now this? ;)
I wanted to laugh, I really did. Alas, not a single moment warranted laughter. I wager it will be cancelled after 3 episodes.

Wow... I really don't want to spend a half hour a week feeling really bad for Melinda McGraw and Kelsey Grammer while simultaneously wanting to kill them.

I didn't watch, but I have to say this is a horrible title, and an obvious attempt to capitalize on Frasier--a show I liked, although there's definitely such a thing as too much Kelsey Grammer for me.

This made me laugh harder than anything the show had to offer.
I love Kelsey.
Love him, I tell you! But I don't even know if I'll try tuning in again. What a disappointment.

I couldn't make it past the halfway point. Kelsey's character kept the "stick up his ass" qualities of Frasier Crane, but nothing else. And nothing else on this show is worth me turning away from "Old Christine".
Strike two, Grammer.

I love Grammer, so I'll give it another try... but so far all I liked was the beginning - the first 3-4 minutes. It all went downhill from there and it ended with the fell of a bad early 1990's show ho-hum show. And I had such great hopes for this...

I thought this was poorly produced, poorly written and poorly cast. Including Kelsey Grammer. They had no chemistry and this was worse than the most generic WB sitcoms. I really can't understand how Kelsey Grammer got caught up in this...

Ok, I am only posting on this forum just because I had to say this:
When Hank and Company walked into the house, my first thought was: "Wow, what a great house to live in. It's bigger then mine!"
And then they started reacting like the was the Bates Motel. Sorry man, can't feel any sympathy for ya.
Will be erasing this from memory now.

I guess if they were moving from a mansion then I could see the shock value. I guess. But I agree with you, if they were trying to convey that Hank and family had hit rock bottom that house wasn't the house to do that in!

The worst part for me was that instead of acting it sounded like everybody was reading a cuecard/teleprompter. The dialogue seemed totally forced & not fluid at all.

ITA! When they walked in that house I thought "what a great house!" It needs a little work, but overall it looks pretty nice. I saw Kelsey on Regis & Kelly, and the way he described the show it sounded promising. I was disappointed that Hank turned out to be so disconnected with his kids. Kelsey described the show as being a family sticking together in these tough economic times. I figured that was an idea I could relate to, but I didn't find the characters very likeable.

Also felt the same. I seriously wanted to like it, but it felt wrong on so many levels. I couldn't connect with any of the actors and I also love K. Grammer.
Mansion or not, were they kidding us, that house had so much potential !! With such an attitude how are we "lowerlings" (my made up word), suppose to feel sorry for them. lol

Exactly! I lost any sympathy I had for the characters once they turned their noses up at the house. Granted, it's not the style of living they're used to, but at least they have a roof over their heads. With a little elbow grease that place will look good in no time!

I don't understand. I saw tonight's episode being filmed live and the cast had Melissa McCarthy in it. But tonight she was replaced. Did she leave or was she fired? If she left I can't blame her. This show is terrible. She was good in that role, though. The actress who replaced her is terrible and can't make the character work.
Not that other things do work.

Does the set look as cheesy in real life as it does on the show...talk about hokey scenery!
I have to say, I don't hate this show. I've always liked Kelsey Grammer(sp?) Some are saying they have a hard time feeling empathy for the family. I'm not sure that we're suppossed to. They are playing uppercrust city folks thrust into a middle class suburban setting...we're not necessarily supposed to feel anything about them at all. It's just a sit com with a laugh track...not something deeper.

I totally agree, and the timing of this show could have made it work had it been done better...so many people right now can relate to having to downsize (literally, in terms of their homes, or economically in terms of how they're living month to month spending-wise). But this? Most of us cannot relate to. And add to that that it's poorly written and acted! Such a shame. A lost opportunity.

I disagree, I think that the people who are producing and directing (and financing) this show really thought that they had a Finger On The Pulse, but it just shows how out of touch they really are to "the commoners"!

I don't think you're supposed to relate. How many of us are rich folks forced out of our jobs with bushels of cash? I think this is supposed to be a "laugh at the wealthy who think they have it tough" show, but the writers aren't giving us much of anything laugh-worthy.

I guess the problem they have is that they aren't presenting it in a way that audiences want to see. They should fix that.
Meanwhile, I'm watching "Old Christine".

I agree with the sentiments here. I SO wanted Kelsey to do well and have a hit show and I had high hopes watching the first night. What a horrible beginning. It's so horrible I don't really see it getting better.
First, what happened to Kelsey? It hasn't been that long since "Back to You" but he looks like he's aged 15 years since then. I hope he's not been sick. Second, I hate it when they give the leading man a wife that looks 25 years younger than him. I automatically sneer at that. Third, aren't we supposed to LIKE the characters in the first show? I think that's what producers usually go for so we'll tune in again. Yet, Hank and wife are arguing about missing the coffee maker... turns out it was a servant. I'm not sure if the characters are trying to make fun of the rest of us Americans building a life or this is the 2009 version of Green Acres and Hank is just starting to get his "Oliver Douglas" on.
I don't know if the writers and producers expected Kelsey to just be so great he'd whip the whole thing into shape or what. The actors obviously have to have something more to work with. This show is rather painful to watch, since I really like Kelsey and didn't want to see him fail again.
I watched the first show and parts of the second show. Looks like there won't be another.

The Thanksgiving episode (ooh, how timely) was bad, but not as bad as the first several episodes. I actually laughed, or at least chuckled, at a couple of the jokes. But still, it was standard sit-com plot #47: "the quarreling extended family has to pull together to save [insert name of holiday or event]."

Mr. Robinson I think you're trying to seduce me with your sarcasm.
Personaly I'm shocked Kelsey mananged to get the job to begin with. The only time I could stomach him was on Cheers and that's because it was in small doses. And back then he was addicted to booze and drugs. Well he'll have some time on his hands if he wants to take them up again.

0 for 2 post-Frasier. Looks like poor Kelsey will just have to live off his residuals from Frasier. And Girlfriends. And The Game. And his voice work on The Simpsons. Okay, maybe poor was a bad choice of words.
