After a night of Quickstep, Jive and Tango, the third couple eliminated from the competition is announced on “Dancing with the Stars the Results Show,” TUESDAY, SEPT. 29 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Disney Channel star Selena Gomez performs “Falling Down” with her band, Selena Gomez & The Scene, from their debut album, “Kiss & Tell,” released September 29, 2009 on Hollywood Records. They will be accompanied on the stage by professional “Dancing with the Stars” dancers Derek Hough and Karina Smirnoff. As young singer and actress best known as Alex Russo on Disney Channel’s hit series “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Gomez has also starred in made-for-television movies “Another Cinderella Story” and “Princess Protection Program.” Recently she was named the youngest UNICEF ambassador.
Grammy Award ®-winning singer-songwriter Joss Stone performs her latest single, “Free Me,” from her fourth studio album, “Colour Me Free,” due out October 20, 2009. She will also take to the stage for a special performance of Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man,” accompanied by the “Dancing with the Stars” orchestra and musical director Harold Wheeler, as well as professional dancers Cheryl Burke, Dmitry Chaplin, Anna Trebunskaya and Louis Van Amstel.
In a special throwback to the ultimate collegiate performance, Macy’s “Stars of Dance” brings the incredible USC Marching Band performing KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight,” along with a special dance routine choreographed by “Stomp the Yard” choreographer Chuck Maldonado and performer Jimmy R.O. Smith

Anyone know why the results thread is still locked? Who was eliminated?
I TiVo'd the dancing and clicked through some of them. I hated Michael and Anna's quickstep and would only call it quick when watched at the one click speed. Quickstep is always tough for me--nothing tops Apollo and Julianne to "Mr. Pinstripe Suit." And speaking of Houghs, I thought Derek and Joanna were scored a little lower than they should have been.
Finally, I don't like this guest celebrity judge thing. Yuck.

Quick question...my ABC has been on the fritz the past two days and so I have picture but no sound. Was it specified that the Bottom 3 were the couples who indeed had the three lowest combined scores? Because if not, I for one do not believe for one second that Louie and Chelsie were in the B3.
I know spoiler sites can be wrong with their last place finishers and stuff but Louie and Chelsie are nowhere near the bottom in any of the spoiler sites I've seen. I really don't believe they were in the Bottom 3.
That said, I was highly amused by how amused Louie looked at the fact that they were in the Bottom. Poor Chelsie's trying to not look nervous and Louie's just giggling the whole time. I'm guessing that is what he does when he's nervous. Okay, so what was shocking about Kathy Ireland being eliminated - she sucked?

I'm not sure if I believe Debi/Maks were in the bottom two. I think someone was there whom the show doesn't want to rev up votes for (Tom? Chuck?) and they are trying to send Debi and Maks a message to shape up. Unfortunately this is probably going to just shatter Debi's nerves even more. I do believe she was probably close to the bottom.
Kathy seemed to be a nice person but she was so slow and so hesitant. It was Trista all over again.
I'm just glad Natalie and Chuck made it through! Now comes the hard part, as there are so many others who have big fanbases that will get them through no matter what.

Loved, loved, loved Joss Stone's performances. But WTF was Selena Gomez doing with her lip-sync routine in the middle of all that?
Samantha's "Oh mighty Isis" meets Playboy Bunny dress was only a half-step above last night's atrocity. Oh, and Samantha, "Free Me" is the latest *single*, not *singer* from Joss' new LP.
On the winners/losers front, no surprise on who left. But I was surprised that they dangled Louie and Chelsie like that. And I was surprised that Tom and Cheryl weren't in the bottom two. How many weeks before he winds up taking a Misty-like medical leave from the competition?

Isn't it a bit soon for DWTS to start breaking out the official bottom two? I don't remember the show doing that during the second performance week in previous seasons.
I laughed at Natalie's comments during the 'training room' segment. She sounds like she was annoyed at Derek (ha) but was reigning it in, as opposed to sighing in exasperation and chucking her shoe at him. It made me like her even more. Sorry, Derek, but not everyone finds your hyperactive/manic antics amusing.
I love USC, it's my school, and the band was good, but their type of music doesn't mesh well with DWTS, IMO. I felt like I was at a halftime show.
As far as the results go... well, that was certainly a shocker! Except not.
BREAKING NEWS BULLETIN -- Anna T. actually lasts past the second week! Woot!

Tom Delay survives to dance another week. I shudder to think of him doing a rumba next week (if that's what he dances). Glad to see Kathy go. Her dancing didn't do anything for me. So glad Louie and Chelsie are still in it. I don't know why, but I just adore them.

Okay, did anyone else but me take a few seconds to register what "bad donkey couple" meant?? If Tom hadn't clarified it with "cleaned up for television" I would never have known. Jeez, even my sister who doesn't curse much will at least say "A" for "ass". That was not shocking at all - Maks and Debi in bottom 2 was (if they were really in the bottom 2).

I don't know about the thread lock but I got the results off of rickey.org.
Kathy & Tony were eliminated.
Fable - True that and Marie was probably only in her mid-40s when she competed. I don't know if they're flaunting their age for votes (though some of that must be going on) or if it's a combination of being apologetic (as it's been noted they're competitive and perfectionists) and... they can't come out and just say, "aging sucks," as almost all religious people I know are insanely positive. So it comes off, "I'm old but look at what a good job I'm doing even though!" LOL. Dunno. I like them enough because I *loved* them when I was 3. Otherwise, I really do like Kelly Osbourne and Marc D this season on a personal, they seem great sort of way. Dancewise, the model is awfully surprisingly fun to watch. Mya and Aaron are almost perfect but they lack the excitement factor. But Mya was never that interesting to me. Until just recently, I thought her big song was "The Boy Is Mine" with Brandy but then I realized that's MONICA. (Cue for another ginkgo biloba). Oh, well. And Melissa Joan Hart!? I'd rather see Candace Cameron out there.

Well, I really enjoyed the Dmitry/Anna/Cheryl/Louis foursome to Preacher Man. Louis has gotten a much lighter touch - even though he dances with the same energy, there's a lighter internal vibe from him or something - he's more open. That was a refreshing combination and Dmitry had some sizzle I haven't felt before - maybe it was Anna (although I feel squicky perceiving sizzle with Anna and anyone but Jonathan, they did have some spark there. I liked it more than him with Chelsea, and I love Chelsea).
I also really liked that band a TON - everything about that appearance I liked. I could go for it again. That's show biz. That's awesome having that huge band on that small stage and I loved it.
Could have done without Selena Gomez and the Derek/Karina number. Not into him this season - oh well, next time. She's okay but I've never enjoyed her pro dancing.
I am confused at the bottom two deal. Normally they only do maybe 3 real bottom twos a season and they weasel it the rest of the time. So when they had the "in jeopardy" and "not safe" couples adding up, I figured it was the same thing. However, I did hear Tom say the words "bottom two" at one point - as in, "four (or whatever) couples are in jeopardy, we'll find out who is in the bottom two and who is going home" -- something like that. But I heard those "bottom two" words, not final two or the weasel phrasing.
However, I missed the part where there were only two left, because I ALSO missed the part where Tom/Cheryl were called safe, and I chickened out of watching Cheryl/Tom wait for the verdict. So I don't know if when there were two left, Tom repeated it was bottom two, or went back to the hedging.

Wow! The hairstylists for the show are almost under performing the band and singers. Sam's 80's look probably had her walking sideways thru doors. And Joanna's extentions are fugly.
I always loved "Son of a Preacher Man" and Joss Stone had a great rendition. I didn't like the first song as well. Enjoyed the USC band.
I do think that Debi is in the bottom 2. Why would TPTB lie? Maybe I'm not so sure. It is surprising Tom beat her out.
And no, I don't think it was ever said that Louie and Chelsia were in 3rd from the bottom. It was only said they "were in jeopardy."
Kathy Ireland should have made a better ballroom dancer. Who'd have thunk it? Then again, who could have guessed Belinda Carlisle had no rythym or grace? I guess when the stars are picked it's just a crapshoot who can perform the ballroom. Except for ringers and many of the performers usually do. But then there was Maya. No guarantees.

Not debating Kathy leaving, but I'm in the camp at wondering if that was really the B3? Because while I'm not shocked Tom got another week, I expected at least a B3 appearance.
Guests? Not a huge Joss Stone fan, but at least she can sing live. Selena Gomez frustrates the crap out of me. She actually is quite the talented actress and I wish she would give up the faux-music crap. She doesn't need that when she has the chops in other areas. But at least we got some pro dancing.
The training area footage? While yeah, a lot of it was in good fun I did get the impression that Derek would get annoying real fast and I did think perhaps Lacey was a bit peeved at Aaron for real.
I have to choose between Gilles and Drew? I'm hoping Gilles gets it though.

I'm not sure if I believe Debi/Maks were in the bottom two.
But they said bottom 2. I am surprised. I thought Chuck might have been in the bottom 2. I loved The Wrestler and Mickey Rourke was great in it, but did a double take when I spotted him in the audience. But Mickey, clap!
Loved the pro dances and love that Joss Stone is not a diva (ahem, J. Lo) and let's the dancers have their moment. Loved that about her routine in season 4.
I laughed at Natalie's comments during the 'training room' segment. She sounds like she was annoyed at Derek but was reigning it in
I like both of them and I did not get that at all from that segment. Rather I saw Natalie setting up a contrived "interruption". I found all of the spying, stealing, etc. pretty contrived and typical producer set ups. But mileage varies. Either way, I figured we would get footage about the new studio. Why wonder MJH has nerves. Apparently everyone is watching her rehearsals.
TPTB, one small request? More Kelly and Louis rehearsal footage. Those two are fun to watch. But she looked so deflated in that confessional. I hope she comes back stronger next week.
Hair and make up did not win an Emmy, right? Samantha's hair next to Kym's and Joanna's tonight...lots of fug.
Could have done without Selena Gomez and the Derek/Karina number.
Loved the dancing (too little time to do anything but I'll take any pro dance) but could have done without another Disney starlet lip syncing through a song. She seems cute but a bit of a five head.
ETA: Louie probably got that weed as a parting gift from Macy.

Yeah, I threw all of my votes her way. And then, when Debi was standing there in the bottom two, I began thinking, "Shit, maybe I should've tossed some votes to Debi, too." But now they're both safe, so it's all gooooood. :P
ETA: I thought that MJH was sporting the bitchface at one point, but then again she might have just been trying to keep herself from upchucking. Maybe Louie can pass her some weed to loosen her up.

I was really surprise to see Louie and Debi in the bottom 2.
Selena Gomez can't perform, Derek and Karina dance had nothing really special about it, and Karina was wearing Julianne freestyle jumpsuit.
Love Joss Stone but again there were nothing really special about the pro dance, but i love watch Anna dancing, she was wearing Shawn's team mambo leotard and Cheryl had Melissa/Lacey team mambo leotard, both in a different skirt.
I was glad to see Kathy going home, she is so boring.

Dmitry + Anna T = hotness. Reminded me of the first time I ever noticed Dmitry (joy) a couple of seasons ago, when he danced with her (plus Louis and Karina) to Aretha. Now if he would only grow his hair out all floppy/sexy again…
I really enjoyed the segment showing the couples interacting in the training studios. I like seeing examples of everyone getting along, outside of the red room.
Why would they have a pigeon-toed Trojan lead the band into the studio? Distracting.
I like watching Derek and Karina dance together. I don’t think they really have chemistry exactly, but they don’t have anti-chemistry and Karina can actually keep up with Derek, so it’s of the good.
I have love for Joss Stone. And her middle backup singer dude was amusing the hell out of me.
But Mickey, clap!

I don't believe for two seconds Louie was in the bottom 3 (there really was no B3, just a supposed B2). I'm guessing he may be one of the top vote-getters so they just dangled that there to suck viewers into a shocking ending.
I think Kathy was the right choice to go. In No Particular Order, I would like to see MJH and Derek's partner (sorry, I don't even remember her name at the moment) leave and probably Tom following that. After that, hopefully we can have a ballgame!

I don't see that at all. I see an earnest, hard working man, who was raised to be considerate and polite to all. He wants to do well and win as much as the rest of the celebrities do, and I don't see him behaving any different than anyone else.
Even though I don't like Karina, I did enjoy her and Derek's pro dance. He is such a fluid dancer - can't get enough of seeing him dance.

Heh. But you forgot "I can now reveal..." ;)
I'm someone who keeps fervently wishing that Tom DeLay would GO HOME already, but I have to admit that in terms of dance ability/wanting to be there, the eliminations have been pretty on-target (IMO). In the beginning, I thought I'd hate it if Chuck stayed, or Louie, or a couple other people, but they're all really kinda growing on me. Except, again Tom D, because I don't EVER want to see him shaking his ass on tv again. EVER.

Random thoughts:
Happy Delay is still in. There aren't strong enough verbs for how much I loathe him, but I think having to train on an injured foot at his age is a tiny bit of punishment. I only hope they have him do samba and rumba before he leaves. Not that I'll have the stomach to watch them (shudder), but I think there's a good chance he'd be profoundly uncomfortable doing them.
Joss Stone certainly has singing chops, but her performances were very ersatz sounding tonight. She's got the pipes, but (at least tonight) doesn't sound like she has the soul to sing great soul songs really well. Solidly professional, but they didn't "sing."
I'm fairly sure they said unambiguously that Debi-Maks were in the bottom two.
I usually don't like the pro dances, but I enjoyed seeing Karina easily match Derrick in the virtuosity and completely outshine him in expression. He's obviously very talented, but it's all just "show biz" expression, which only holds one's interest for so long.
I agree that Samantha's styling was over the top, but I also thought she somehow looked the sexiest I've ever seen her.

I totally believe he was in the bottom three. The general public has no idea who he is.
Most of the general public didn't know who Ty Murray was and he and Chelsie made it all the way to Final 4. Chelsie has a huge fanbase that followed her from SYTYCD. Also, while many may not have known him coming into the season; going by many discussion boards, a lot of people are thinking things like, "adorable", "fun to watch", etc. about Louie.
Also, as I said previously, I refuse to believe so many spoiler sites were that off with their predictions. Louie/Chelsie, if the spoilers are to believed are right now ranking in the Top 6 of the pairings. They were not in the B3. I firmly believe that but hey, it should mobilize their fans even more next week.
Oh, Selena Gomez. I wish Disney would stop trying to convince her she's a singer.
The sad thing is, going by a few of her interviews I've read - she barely seems sold on the singer thing herself and really seems to have her heart set on acting (which is great because she's a wonderful actress...arguably the best of the tween/teen Disney/Nick set. The only one I might say is on her level is Sterling Knight and Jeannette McCurdy). However Disney is not being Disney unless they're trying to make all their stars into some "triple-threat" which is really just more ways to wring out cash from parents with young children.

WTF was up with Derek's "flower?"
Off the top of my head, I'm going to go with "least subtle attempt to stir up some showmance rumors." But, it also could have just been a silly little inside joke that did not translate to those of us not in on it. (I know she has a fiance, but I don't think for one second it would stop the show from trying to "subtly" encourage showmance speculation about the two young, blonde, attractive partners.)
Oh, Sam. Sam, Sam, Sam. I recommend bringing in some really good cookies for the hair department. Or apologizing for kicking their puppies. Clearly they hate you for something! Sweet Jebus, that was Monica in Barbados levels of frizz, girl. I'm torn between hoping for her sake there were extensions involved in that hot mess (and it's not her hair doing that shit), and hoping there weren't extensions because it would mean someone was employed as a professional hair person for one of a major network's big prime time shows who would throw in extensions to make one of the people who spends the most time on camera look like
that. Oh, wait, hi Joanna and Kym's hair. Yes, yes there is a hair "pro" on this show who would intentionally put in extensions to make someone's hair look like that. I swear my follicles screamed out in horror at the bad hair flopping all over my screen tonight. Make it stop. Please.
Tony could not have looked any more sure he was leaving if he'd dragged Kathy out to the middle of the floor and started final dancing with her before the announcement was made. He just kept smirking and nodding his head like "yeah, we're out! I'll be back for some pro numbers though!"

I'm not a fan of hers, but she is a good actor. And Sterling Knight is just a delight. But Lucas Grabeel is the only true triple threat to come out of Disney, IMO. I also understand Disney thrives of synergy, but I still don't appreciate them foisting her on us.

My daughter, who's a recovering Disneyholic, can't stand Selena as a singer and even at her tender age, thinks it's a joke that most of the teen Disney stars (Cyrus, Hudgens, Tisdale, Lovato, Osment next year) inevitably put out albums whether they merit it or not.

Not that I remember, no. She was pretty brief, said she loved the experience, she wouldn't change anything and loved learning to dance from World Champ Tony and I think that was about it.
I'll go ahead and admit I like Selena's song from the Cinderella movie (and that's the only one of hers I know, I swear), but last night's was major "eh". Not sure why they bothered with the ear pieces since she was so clearly lip syncing.
Enjoyed the pro dances, always nice to see and the marching band was a fun change of pace. Not the best results show ever, but on ff, not so bad.

I wonder if Debi and Maks' low vote total was a result of the tension that they showed during the training sessions. Maks may be hotter than a parka, but making his partner cry probably didn't endear him to newer voters. He needs another MelB who can call him a wanker and tell him to STFU.
Kathy wasn't long for this show. As nice as she is, I always get a warm, fuzzy feeling when the tall, statuesque supermodels prove that there's a reason that they make their living posing for magazine still shots. Combining athleticism and grace really isn't their thing.

I think the producers anticipated getting that with Debi Mazur but turns out she's a perfectionist high tension wire and leaves the bravado for her acting roles. I'm disappointed.
