The first results show of the season. Also: The cast of the musical The Lion King performs Circle of Life.
RustyNail
Whoa, Glad My Friend Flicka is gone. As far as Ashley.... snooZe.
tip and fall
And... Jonathan becomes the first ever (and probably only) DWTS pro to get booted off three times. Three consecutive times, at that. Okay, he wasn't on for one season during the past four (was it last season? or season 7?), so I guess it wasn't technically consecutive, but the three most recent ones that he's actually been on, he was kicked off first. That ain't right. JUSTICE FOR JONATHAN! (<-- ETA: Can't take credit for that catchphrase, another poster in the previous show thread came up with it.)
yesenializ
That was a beautiful tribute to Patrick Swayze. Nicely done, DWTS.
kimmykaybee
Oh, poor Jonathan. Once again booted first. While I'm glad to see Macy go, I'm really sad that Jonathan will be going with her.
JUSTICE FOR JONATHAN!

Word, tip and fall.
bigmomma01
Jonathan and Anna brought tears to my eyes.

And please, please, please producers - give him a celebrity partner that can keep him on the show longer! He is so deserving of better.
7Siren
The right couples went home, my favorites are safe. Woohoo!

That filler with Adam Corolla was actually pretty funny. The Lion King dance was amazing and I expected more from the PS tribute. They recycled half of that routine from a few seasons ago but I was glad to see Chelsie and Dmitry dance and Johnathan and Anna looked sweet.

Can't wait until next week!
O2Sean
I hope this won't make them less likely to bring him back. They give him dud partners every season, partners few if any could manage to get past the first week. Jonathan brings such class to the show, and quiet humor and charm. He deserves better than he's been given. He adds such grace to the season and I'm really going to miss him amidst all the testosterone and the boyish acting out among many of the other male pros.

I was shocked Macy left first. I knew she wouldn't last as long as Cloris did, because what people would put up with in Cloris they might not tolerate in Macy, but I thought she had enough crazy support to last past the first week. I guess her bad attitude and laziness did her in. Good riddance.

Ashley never should have been cast, and while he's a nice guy and a good sport, I won't be sad that his leathery and/or vacuous parents won't be dragged into the show in future weeks.

Where did Edyta place last season?
Miss Mia
Rustynail - I sure hope to hell Flicka is aka for Macy. Didn't get to watch as I was watching the "real" dance show, lol.

Doesn't sound like there was anything else to appeal to me about this results show. I wanted the criminal gone instead of Ashley, so I'm stuck not watching for another week. Damn.
mezz98
I think I'm joining the Justice for Jonathan brigade. He is adorable and a wonderful dancer. Please give him a contender next time, show!

I was surprised to see Ashley go before Tom. Otherwise, I wasn't surprised at tonight's eliminations.
tip and fall
That filler with Adam Corolla was actually pretty funny.

Yeah, I thought so too. Who woulda thunk? My favorite part was when Michael got into it: "YES, I AM!!" And Adam's response: ...."Okay, you go ahead and eyeball me all you want." LOL.

ETA: Jonathan and Anna are my favorite DWTS couple ever.
RustyNail
Miss Mia.... yes, for Macy. I know that was uber mean. Just didn't feel the love for her. And yes posters, the tribute to Patrick Swayze was a class act.
IHeartDVR
JUSTICE FOR JONATHAN!

Wearing my "Give Jonathan a CHANCE!" T-shirt. Ugh. I get tired of the same people getting great partners. I want to see what Jonathan can do with a viable partner in the finals. And Marie doesn't count in my book.
dancingjunkee
I also loved the Carolla bit. He is over the top but it works to lighten the mood.

The best thing about tonight for me was the Jonathan and Anna kiss.
spanana
It was a pretty chockful results show. I could have done without the Miley video premiere, but I enjoyed the rest. I too enjoyed the Adam bit, surprisingly.

Loved the Patrick tribute. Wish it could have been longer, but I thought all of the featured dancers were great and I liked the nod to S2 with the Cheryl/Tony part.

I totally called the eliminations, so no surprises. Though again poor Jonathan. Can't we at least get him the Design a Dance? I know he has no shot of winning over the fabulous Hough and Ballas clan (sarcasm), but it would be nice. Hopefully we'll at least get lots of Jonathan/Anna pro dances.
SeaTW
I wanted the criminal gone instead of Ashley, so I'm stuck not watching for another week. Damn.

Please forgive my ignorance, Miss Mia, but who's the criminal?

ETA: Nevermind. Duh. Sorry about that! Had to think back about a decade...
RustyNail
My guess is Michael Irvin....funny how the low lifes of the world get a shot at B list glory

Or Tom Delay
GoldenWoman
I figured Ashley would be gone becuase he had no fanbase and sadly had no personality on the dancefloor. But he was a really nice guy. Didn't think Macy would go seeing as how she did bring a little crazy to the dancefloor. Poor Johnathan once again gets screwed big time. The Adam Carolla bit was hillarious. I LOVED the PS tribute though I agree with the others who have stated they wish it was longer. Dimitry and Chelsie are adorable, Johnathan and Anna are SEXY Tony and Cheryl once again created magic. It was a gorgeous piece.
portfino
Haha, I forgot that we had two criminals on the show. At least Delay can cling to the fact he's never been convicted.

I'm not surprised at the eliminations. Ashley had no fanbase, and did nothing to build one on Monday. Macy was a terrible dancer, and didn't have the kitsch appeal some of the others bad dancers have had.
harvestbasket
Justice for Jonathan indeed!
I hope this won't make them less likely to bring him back. They give him dud partners every season, partners few if any could manage to get past the first week.
I hope the show does consider who they give him. I mean, give Jonathan someone like Kristi as a partner in season 6 and he would have a win.

Adam's filler was funny and loved the Swayze tribute. Anna T. and Jonathan are amazing on the dance floor together. I am still waiting for another amazing foxtrot from this lovely pair.

Ashley leaving is not surprise but disappointed for Edyta. Alec and Edyta both have two week 1 exits. I also wanted to see Edyta and Joanna speak Polish and confuse Samantha-bot.

TPTB, thanks for the Kenny cha cha reminder. And Dmitry really likes to keep that shirt open.
GoGoMasha
Which producer's cornflakes did Jonathan piss in to deserve Macy as a partner? Did he sleep with an exec's wife? No one deserves to be booted the first week as many times as he has. It's just not right. If he's a masochist and dares to come back (if asked) next season, I certainly hope to God he get's a partner who doesn't have "DOA" tattooed on their forehead.

I wish Tom left; it irks me to see Bush cronies on this show. But all in all, I'm not bothered that Ashley was booted first.
SeaTW
Oh, yeah, TWO! I had totally forgotten about Michael Irvin's...uh...background.

In terms of crazy political characters, I would love to see Stephen Colbert on this show. In character. I know it's never going to happen, but I'll amuse myself by thinking about it!
tolliveramc
I wouldn't have minded seeing Kathy leave, but am not upset about Macy going. Shame Jonathan has to go too, but his dance with Anna as part of the Patrick Swayze tribute was a nice consolation.

Speaking of ... loved that tribute. Sean Kingston and Miley Cyrus could've gone and made more room for a fuller performance (or at least ditch the Cyrus *video* ... this isn't TRL, folks).

Thought it was mean to make Kelly wait till the end when I'm sure she did much better than third from the bottom, but we have to have drama, right? If anything, I thought she and Louis were even better tonight than last night.
spanana
I have a feeling Tom will leave next. No matter how much he surprises, I don't think he has the personality to get people in his corner. Also Kathy Ireland is on borrowed time.
Miss Mia
SeaTW - Who's the criminal? That would be Tom Delay. He'll be wearing the striped jumpsuit as soon as he finally gets to court. I cannot understand how the wealthy can get trials delayed, delay, delayed, but I guess his name fits in this instance. As far as anyone else who's been arrested in this group, they are mere pikers compared to the criminality of Delay.
WaltzinSpringTm
The thing with Jonathan is I believe the only reason he still gets used on DWTs IS to partner the oddballs. They reserve the more legit candidates for their ever open roster of pro male hunks. Obviously there are a few whose spots are fixed, but then there's the 'it depends' group. I do think they've settled on Dmitry in a way they did not commit to Jesse DeSoto, but Dmitry is sort of in that extra hunk slot, and Alec kind of got demoted into it as well. Jonathan's spot on this show is not a given. He's like Tony - he's there for a certain purpose. It's not a take turns type thing. They seem more inclined to do that on the women's side, which I think is unfair.
isiscloud
The Patrick Swayze tribute was really nice and brought tears to my eyes. I'm a sap. I don't know what else they could have done but these three main performances with the iconic No one puts Baby in a corner dance. Jonathan and Anna were hot.

The Lion King dance was very nice too. Glad no one was hurt with the birds. The Jaguar was kind of weird how it came out of the dancer's pelvis.

Samantha Harris as awkward as ever. Seriously, it's mind-bottling how she still has a job.

Macy was scary. It seemed like she wasn't into being there at. all.

Poor Ashley. Married to Shannen Dougherty and saddled with Ashley as his name.

Wish Tom Delay had gone instead...

Hardly recognized Cheryl. She looked like Katy Sagal when she was on Married with Children.
Ripley68
For the first time EVER, I am keeping a results show longer than watching just the last 2 minutes. Loved the Lion King. My 5 year old loved it too and asked to watch it twice.
Dieselgal
I thought Macy should have gone because it was going to be impossible for her to look good. Compared to Jonathan she looked like a guy in drag, so I am glad she went instead of being embarrassed week after week. As for the guy that went home it would have been between Michael and Ashley for me but I would have probably sent Michael first.
I thought the rest of the dancers had a lot more natural talent. I think Kathy Ireland will be the next lady to leave and as for the guys the next guy should be Michael.
As for the political trashing here I can say that I was glad to see Tom Delay do so well and if being a political "criminal" as he is being called got him on the show, next season we should be seeing Pelosi, Barney Frank and maybe even the big O.
TWoP Pembleton

I believe that people were referring to the actual pending criminal charges against DeLay for money laundering.

But I will ask again for people to keep the politics out of the Delay discussion as much as possible. Love him or hate him for his dancing and his actions on the show, please. Thanks.
mtlchickie
While the right people went, that means my love affair with Edyta's leg warmers ended a lot earlier than expected and Jonathan continues to get hosed. Show, he's gone through Heather, Macy, Belinda and Marie. Give him a decent one already!
TheAnglican
It's sad for Jonathan, but the man must have had the patience of St. Benedict to be on tour with Macy for a month in the first place. I hope he gets some well-deserved down time and that he comes back to instruct Chuck on how to be graceful and manly at the same time.

(boy, am I glad to be writing "Chuck" on the DwTS forums and not be referring to Mr. Julianne Hough)

And speaking of the gracious Mr. Liddell, I actually thought he was the funniest part of the Adam Corolla sketch.

Adam to Donnie: "You're 51! When do we get to call you Don?"

(side view of genuine guffaw from Chuck)
donnamarie
The PS tribute was lovely. Jonathan and Anna were beautiful, as were Dmitri and Chelsie. I loved Cheryl and Tony also.

The Lion King was spectacular. I can't wait to see it when it comes to Boston.

Macy? Stand up straight!!

Shallow note...Tony, Jonathan and Louis have excellent behinds!!
Tricksterson
Oh. Well. That was predictable. Sad to see Edyta leave though.
RustyNail
donnamarie.....shallow, I hardly think so. Totally agree on Louis Van Amstel and his excellent behind.
voiceover
Very happy to see Kenny M. Please, let there be Dance Center again. No regular feature ever beat that one. Sometimes, I thought it was better than the actual dancing.
sab85
Aww, not really a surprise but still sad to see. I can't decide whether to be sad for Jonathan or happy that he doesn't have to put up with the crazy anymore.

The Patrick Swayze tribute was really nice. If Dmitry/Chelsie is wrong than I don't want to be right. And whoever said that Jonathan goes from a cute, sweet guy to the hottest thing when he is dancing with Anna is totally right.
myown
I'm finding I am really liking Louis this season. The first couple of seasons I actively disliked him and grew to feel neutral about him (with Monique Coleman and Priscilla Presley). Now I really like him and it's not just because he is paired with someone so likeable. I like him more in the pro dances as well.

I am really, really surprised that Macy is going home this week. I did not see that coming. I sometimes wonder if Jonathan is a part-time employee. Anna's only on every once in awhile. Maybe they just don't want to be on DWTS every week for 3 months.
hanoi jane
Jonathan and Edyta seem like they get stuck with the bottom of the barrel more often than some of the other pros and I don't get why, they both seem quite appealing in their own right so I would think the show would be interested in keeping them on longer.

Maybe part of it is that they're both kind and patient and therefore well-suited to being paired with the most disastrous celebs?

Personally, I'm bummed to see Macy go. She's a train wreck, but a fun, unpredictable train wreck. I'd prefer to watch her over quite a number of the other celebs and I wonder if maybe after the first week she wouldn't have worked a little harder? Nah, probably not. But it still would have been good in it's own wacky way.

And how glad am I to still have the other fantastic train wreck that is Tom DeLay. He is deliciously awful and everything about a disgraced former House Majority Leader shaking his booty is awesome!
sweetpd7
So when are we going to be calling Donny, Don? Adam C. segment was hysterical. The Losers, not as laugh out loud funny. My son liked it so much that I had to watch Adam twice.

I knew Michael Irvin had some kind of problem, maybe with substance abuse. I'm really fuzzy about it. So he actually went to jail, or did he get arrested but not serve time?

Again showing how out of it I am, I never realized Tom Delay had "pending charges." And he thinks surviving for another week or two is going to restore his public image. I'm pretty sure the judge won't be really impressed he was on DWTS. Dude, get real.
binturite

Seriously, JFJ! since I was all "free Jonathan!" as soon as the official pairings for this season came out.

So I'm more than fine with this week's elims (though I wouldn't have broken down and cried over losing Tommy boy or Miz Ireland).

Here's hoping the TPTB provide me with more beautiful spotlight dances featuring Jonathan and HBIC Anna for the rest of the season.

And I look forward to seeing a possible cameo appearance from Assistent!Jonathan during one of Anna's and Chuck's future rehearsals for some standard dance or another.

Glad Debi/Maks survived the first week. They were one of my 3 pre-season favorite pairs and I still think they're dorkily cute together, though they've slipped to fourth place for now behind Mya/Dmitri, Kelly/Louis, and Mark/Lacey.
hanoi jane
Michael Irvin was arrested, several times, for cocaine possession. He never served time. He did show up to court in a full length mink coat. His arrogance was something to behold.
WaltzinSpringTm
On the topic of shady pasts and checkered histories, Conrad Green said he pretty much doesn't care - he just wants to be sure the celeb is well behaved on DWTs. That conflict drives other reality shows but would kill DWTs. I think he said this in reference to Tom DeLay. As long as he felt Tom DeLay would conduct himself well on the show, then all bets are off as far as his past goes.

I'm sure there's a line somewhere, although obviously indictments and even jail time isn't where the line resides. Possibly it resides somewhere in the territory of WHY someone was in jail, and there are crimes that would rule out certain personalities. Cleary a drug history (as long as one is recovered) and unresolved corruption indictments don't meet the criteria.

I thought Macy should have gone because it was going to be impossible for her to look good. Compared to Jonathan she looked like a guy in drag

She did!!! Couldn't figure out who she was.
KerleyQ
I'm an easy sap sometimes, the Patrick Swayze tribute had me teary. (I'll take lovely tributes like that to him any time over all the still ongoing wringing of hands over "the Michael Jackson tragedy.")

I have to admit, I'm half surprised Macy went first. I adore Jonathon, but I think his continual limited screen time probably worked against him and Macy. Had she been thrown together with Derek, Mark, or Maks, she might have swung through a week, at least, on the combination of her crazy and their popularity. The audience, in general, has not had enough exposure to Jonathon to feel invested in him as much as those other guys, I fear. (And his real shot at longevity ties him to the horror that was the doll dance.) I was half hoping Macy would just think "Screw this noise" and let loose with an expletive-laced farewell tirade. I do have to say, though, it seemed like a lot of the cast genuinely liked her, including Tom and Samantha.

Ashley was the gimme of the day, though. No shock at all there. He was wooden and proved to be not even a pale imitation of his father (no pun intended).

Adam Carolla was hilarious. And that's not something I find myself saying often.

At first, I was kind of bummed that Derek and Shannon had to go and split before he started his season with "the hottest swimsuit model in the world." But, even with the split, I can still see some Shannon head exploding going on there. I'm not shipping them or anything, but Derek and Joanna hitting it before the season's up would hardly be shocking. And, she's not as much of a bitch with him as she was on Superstars with TO. It will be interesting to see if that holds up as things get tougher and she inevitably finds herself on the receiving end of some judge criticism insted of the praise she received this week. ("I thought you were supposed to be some big professional dancer!?")
Fable
I just loved Jonathan and Anna dancing together tonight.

Totally agree with the poster who said Edyta and Jonathan (along with their spouses), more often than not, get stuck with some unfortunate partners. I'm almost starting to wonder if they have some agreement with TPTB. Here is to hoping Anna T. and Alec get to stay around for a while this season!

Adam Carolla's bit and the Losers Club were great. The Lion King and PS tribute weren't bad either, but I could have done without Miley and the rapper guy whoever he was.
sweetpd7
Jonathan and Edyta seem like they get stuck with the bottom of the barrel more often than some of the other pros and I don't get why, ... Maybe part of it is that they're both kind and patient and therefore well-suited to being paired with the most disastrous celebs?

I really think so. Some of the pros on the show would not do well with a very difficult celeb. Mak's head would have exploded after a few weeks of Macy. I'm sure TPTB make certain there is never any irrevocable confrontation between pro and celeb.

Edyta is so easy going that nothing seems to phase her. Jonathan is a true gentleman and a gentle man.

Unfortunately, these lovely pros continue to be saddle with the celebs no one else wants.
superpole2000
I really liked watching Cheryl dance. I'm going to miss her when her dud partner is voted off.
Elsa
I was really touched by Debi's tears at the end. She must have suspected that Macy would go home. I'm worried she might have a breakdown at the next elimination, no matter who it is. Poor thing. Though I'm more on her side than I was before tonight - I'm worried about her. Her incessant nervous chatter gets on my nerves but she's apparently quite the little tender-hearted empath, that one. It was nice to see Maks rubbing her arm up and down while she was trembling before she was declared safe.

Macy comported herself well after being booted, thank God. I was braced. Poor Jonathan - but that was a lovely dance with Anna - and Chelsie and Dmitry - OMG they're gorgeous and sexy together, despite the 12-inch height difference. I did notice the final shot had Chelsie/Louis and Dmitry/Anna-D paired, which made more sense from a size standpoint, but I think the show is very invested in Chelsie and Dmitry breaking out as stars and they think they're capable of it so they keep getting special featuring.

Oh, and I don't think they leave it up to each pro as to whether or not his shirt is unbuttoned. I think the designers/dressers have orders from the producers to keep him as bare and as sexy as possible (Maks too, for that matter.)
yruneh
Jonathan and Edyta seem like they get stuck with the bottom of the barrel more often than some of the other pros and I don't get why, they both seem quite appealing in their own right so I would think the show would be interested in keeping them on longer.

Ironically, I think they get punished for their versatility and maturity. They can project sophistication, so rather than getting assigned the sexpots or vigorous young partners, they often get the older, less fit partners. On the other hand, even though Karina Smirnoff is actually older than most of the female pros, I think her bratty vibe may lead to her getting younger partners than Edyta.

Next season, I think Jonathan needs to get a partner who is simultaneously America's sweetheart, smoking hot, and an Olympic champion.

I was surprised and relieved that Debi made it through. I thought Kathy and Macy would have much stronger voter support. I think Kathy's voting coalition would be older voters, swimsuit issue oglers of her era, and Christian conservatives. I figured Macy would have some fans but also strong support for those who vote for the weird, vote for the worst, or vote out of pity. I didn't think Debi had much name recognition or a role that resonates with the public. I just have basic cable; maybe there are more Entourage viewers than I thought.

Not surprised that Tom outlasted Ashley. I don't know if he has any fans and Tom's probably got an energized core of supporters (as well as a popular pro partner).

The Patrick Swayze tribute was tastefully done - not exploitative. And I found the Lion King performance surprisingly enjoyable, because it always seems so corny on the commercials.
