Comedian Eddie Griffin gets his own reality show which begins tonight on Vh1. This show is about Eddie and his financial troubles.

It should be about how he got two women to marry him and how he got four to be his baby mommas. He is not the most attractive thing on two feet and he's only marginally talented.
Drew328
I don't understand why the topic name mentions MC Hammer. The circumstances in which he lost his fortune weren't very similar to those under which Griffin lost his. What else do they have in common?
Malibu65
From this morning's interview that Eddie gave on a local morning news show, he stated part of his problem is he helps too many people who need money, aside from the fact that he has children to support and doesn't spend it wisely. MC Hammer referenced on more than one occasion part of his bankruptcy problems stemmed from him wanting to help friends and employ many people because he wanted to help them as well as not spending it wisely. So there are a few common things going on there. Thus, the reference to MC Hammer.

It should be about how he got two women to marry him and how he got four to be his baby mommas

Haha. Funny you say that as that topic was brought up by Eddie himself on this same interview. They showed a clip of this show and Eddie's mother - who makes an appearance on his show- does bring up the baby mamas.
Drew328
Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I had thought that Griffin's troubles were solely due to paying child support.
anadyr21
Wow, that was a trainwreck in a sad way. That's a hell of a lot of people moochin off him, when he needs to be saving some of that money for those 8 kids. If you make over 4 million a year and you spend close to 5 million, you've got some serious problems. And I didn't check, but were his son's teeth so jacked up that he needed braces NOW? I had a feeling baby momma was full of ish.
Marla Singer
I do 't know how much of this show is real but in general, I love shit like this. It's like personal finance porn for me so I'll be watching.
Malibu65
And I didn't check, but were his son's teeth so jacked up that he needed braces NOW?

Nowadays it is the norm for kids younger than Eddie's son to get braces. It may have to do more with jaw problems than it does teeth. Maybe the orthodontist is trying to keep the son from having a mouth like his dad's. Haha.

I never knew anything about Eddie's private life other than having several kids.

I liked seeing Eddie's mother trying to put a halt to the shenanigans at his home. I was waiting for her to just go all out on those people there and yell at them to leave. Obviously the lady knows that has to come from her son. He needs to learn to put his foot down. I can't believe the guy earns $4 million a year. Damn! With that kind of money, there is no excuse to be in the mess he is. He needs to first get rid of those moochers. That would be a great start.
blacman
So far, so good! I'm a fan of Eddie so I new I would like this show. Yes, he needs to get rid of all those people mooching off him, but he also needs to check his spending. A pool in his ceiling, while cool as hell, is totally unnecessary. I also didn't like the police arresting his people. Yes they were wrong for selling the t-shirts outside the venue, but come on, THEY WERE STANDING 2 FEET FROM THE FRONT DOOR OF THE PLACE!!! They could have told them to go inside, but no they had to cause a scene and arrest them for selling t-shirts, C'MON!!!
Stardancer2001
Does this Baby Momma have dental insurance of some kind? I needed to get braces for my son and I didn't have to spend that much. Even if you don't have dental, you can get on a program to reduce the cost. I think this BM is trying to soak Eddie. Surely his kids should have medical insurance.
Malibu65
Surely his kids should have medical insurance.

Not if baby mama doesn't work and relies solely on Eddie's money. As for Eddie, from the sounds of him saying he will give her the money, it seems he doesn't have health insurance for his kids. Where would he get it if he is only doing comedy gigs here and there? Obviously throwing parties and having females swim in his swimming pool while watching them kiss is more important than figuring out the cost of getting private health insurance.

Programs like you mentioned to get reduced dental care coverage are for people who are truly in need of it such as single parents or families who don't make enough money, people who don't get insurance through their work, etc. It is not for folks like Eddie who apparently bring in $4 million a year.
Stardancer2001
Anybody still watching?

That little Chippie Eddie had to dinner with his mom... He needs to stop. That's why he's going broke! He might need to step away from the girls for a while so he can find the one who'll "stick".

Stardancer2001

I had the same question. I just finished the first and 2nd episode that I had on DVR.

I don't know what to think about this show. It's not as trainwrek-y as I expected. Maybe I don't like the star vehicles on VH1 unless they are looking for love...hear that VH1 Please bring bay Ray J of Love. But I digress. I think Eddie is trying to do good, but he is pushing the "i'm a good father" card way too hard. Just my opinion. How can you be that age w/ 2 ex wives and 4 baby mammas and be a good parent? Aren't the two mutually exclusive. Like you are irresponsible with birth control, but a great parent.

I'll give the show a few more viewings...and by then it will probably have only a few more episodes left so who am I kidding, I will watch the whole thing. LOL

It is some funny $hite to see his Bentley get repoed.
IvySpice
Yeah, you are definitely not being a good parent to your first seven kids when you knock up some hoochie with number eight.
Malibu65
I wonder if an HIV/AIDs test has been suggested to Eddie? Maybe the show could incorporate that storyline.
Stardancer2001
Seriously! I figured he would chicken out on the vasectomy, but did he ever get tested for anything? With 8 kids, you know he doesn't use condoms.
Malibu65
With 8 kids, you know he doesn't use condoms.

At least 8 times a condom wasn't used. Yes, it is possible he could have worn one and it broke, but really now, I don't think Eddie ever wore one. I'd bet my money on it. I'd bet my money he never ever was tested for HIV/AIDs or any other STD either.

Who are the other females that are mothers to his kids?
shopper gal
Is the fair skinned girl featured his ex wife? The mother to the kid w/ the jacked up teeth.

Did you notice that he actually wanted another kid. Or at least alluded to it when talking to one of his moochers about the vasectomy? He must be one of those types that is purposely trying to spread his seed. For a better description see any Judge Judy episode. She loves those cases.

I thought I saw upthread that he makes 4 million a year. Is that legit I wonder? Does he tour every weekend..seems like the only way he could net that much He is the highest priced standup act that comes through our Improv..he's coming to our city in a few weeks. If his show was better I'd consider going, but he's not worth the 30 bucks.

The sad thing is if he didn't have the moochers he could afford all 8 kids AND dental and possibly a 401K. It's a shame when a grown a$$ man can't live on 4 million a year...such is celebrity I guess.
Marla Singer
I have a friend who is a somewhat well known comedian but not as famous as Eddie who does gigs all over the country every weekend (in addition to development deals and the occasional television gig) and he makes about $2M per year before expenses, so $4 million sounds believable to me.

This show is so boring, but was he auditioning for a Flavor of Love type show when he took that girl out? He is straight hideous. When he leaned in to kiss that girl, I had that same gross overload feeling I get from watching Flava flav make out with a chick. How old is he? Even though he was trying to come across as smooth, he looks like the pervy old man, you avoid talking to.
Malibu65
I thought I saw upthread that he makes 4 million a year. Is that legit

It was said in the first episode by Eddie's accountant he makes $4 million a year and spends roughly $4.7 million a year.

What that income stems from, I am sure it comes from his comedy gigs not to mention whatever residuals he may get from MALCOLM AND EDDIE. I don't know what else he may get income from but whatever it is, $4 million is enough for a grown man to live on if he knew how to spend it wisely.

Want to see what Eddie does to a rare Ferrari Enzo worth $1 million?

Of course Eddie wants another child. He's not the one having them! I was tripping when he was saying that he wanted "another one like" the child who was playing the video game. Damn, Eddie! You have seven other ones like that kid.

It was said in the first episode by Eddie's accountant he makes $4 million a year and spends roughly $4.7 million a year.

Now that is ridiculous. If I made 4 million, I'd save 3.5 million and live on the rest! Hell, even saving 1 million would keep you out of the hole. Eddie's spending is out of control. That accountant should have shut that down once he saw that Eddie spent more than he earned.

I missed that. So he is almost a million in the whole? Wonder how many years that has been happening. That is just sad....I don't whip this word out often, but it's trifilin'

This show is boring so I get my details wrong, but didn't one of his mooches look at him like he had two heads when he asked how much money the brought home. I think it was the boxer who then ended up selling t-shirts.
Shutomei
I've always loved Eddie so wanted to watch this show. Unlike others, I actually enjoy this show so am looking foward to the upcoming episodes. Unlike the TO show, which was a poorly disguised show intended to put a new face on a selfish footbal player, this one show seems intent on flaunting its trainwreck appeal.

Looks like he lives in MDR or the Venice canals?
Stardancer2001
Wow. I can imagine how hard Morty's job is... to a point. He didn't even know Eddie had a Bentley until the repo men called him? I thought the accountant would know about any bills Eddie had to pay? I'll bet he got his money up front and to hell with the rest of Eddie's bills.

But seeing how Eddie easily dropped $1200 for a bullshit altar to combat his bad karma, I can understand how frustrating it must be to work for him. Dude, you make 4 million a year and you didn't buy your mama's house outright? What about his own house? Making that kind of money, you should not be paying a mortgage. Even if you piss away all of your earnings, you should at least not have to worry about keeping a roof over your head!
Malibu65
I thought the accountant would know about any bills Eddie had to pay?

I am thinking Eddie doesn't tell his accountant EVERYTHING. He may had dropped a nice chunk of change for a downpayment on the car and had the bills sent to his own house as opposed to the accountant's office, so he didn't have to hear his accountant tell him what bad investments he is making.

Too many celebs like Eddie want to fufill the "Cribs" dream and outdo one another. Bling here, cars there, too many toys and nowhere is money being put into some smart investments.
hicks964
They should have just done another "of Love" show.
Malibu65
The whole drinking urine thing. Disgusting. I always thought if one drank their own pee, it would be toxic. I had heard of one Native American tribe where drinking one's own pee was a spiritual cleanse of some sort. I am thinking this is where Erin the spiritualist got the idea.

Eddie had me laughing so hard everytime he said, "WTF?"

Looks like he lives in MDR or the Venice canals?

Eddie does indeed live in Venice Beach. I have passed that part of Venice a few times and never knew he lived there. I knew he lived in Venice Beach, just didn't know what part.

These Vh1 shows are gettgin so tired. How many of them have been sent off for the vasectomy scare now? I know they did it on My Fair Brady almost verbatim the way they did it here. And I think there was another one. **yawn**

I wnated to like Eddie, I really did, but he comes off like a spoiled, creepy, dirty old buffoon. He looks ridiculous trying to date 20 year old women, especially after all the kids. Did he think this show would help his image?
Stardancer2001
Eddie needs this show to get some money. I really like him, but I was wishing for Suze Orman to roll up on him and slap him into next week.

Hell, he can date young girls if he wants, but he really cannot afford to rent out an entire floor of a restaurant just for them. Take those tricks to a buffet, Eddie. His mama will be living with him for real if he keeps spending money like that.
Malibu65
I had missed the first five minutes of the last episode so I never saw when Eddie received the stitches on his face. I just saw that scene today. Why was he receiving stitches from a plastic surgeon? I have seen that plastic surgeon on television. He appeared on THE GIRLS NEXT DOOR and did the face-lift on Kendra's mother. He then appeared at a Playboy mansion party. I couldn't see the doctor's name on his coat but you could clearly see the words PLASTIC SURGEON on his coat. Eh.
Marla Singer
Maybe he got stitches in an ER the night of the incident but then went to a PS to get them done again. I imagine a PS would be better at vanity stitching.
Malibu65
Ah I see. It was made to look like Eddie endured the cut on his face and waited til he got home to see a doctor.

Another thing I noticed the second time around was Eddie saying how he pays mortgages on homes he has never even seen or step foot in? WTH?
jackiecarr
That was a beautiful car that got repoed, I'd probably be fighting with the tow truck guy too. That being said, the man clearly doesn't need a babymomma magnet. I think he'd get women just being famous and funny, all the flossing just makes him look really insecure/ desperate.
swankie
Eddie's mom cracks me up. It's refreshing seeing a parent who is real and tells it like it is with their showbiz child rather than coddling them and thinking they can do no wrong as long as they are bringing in the moolah. Her facial expressions when he tries to lie to her make me laugh every time. She looks at him like, "Bitch Please! Do you forget who you're talking to?" She seems really wise too. Hopefully she can convince Eddie to get rid of some of the hangers-on taking a free ride on his dime.
Stardancer2001
Eddie's mom and her Red Hatters killed me. Especially the one hitting on Eddie. She'd better watch out, because Eddie may knock her up!

It's nice to see Eddie finding new ways to make money, but there should be someone there to help Eddie keep most of it. He needs to address his outrageous spending habits and figure out why he is going broke.

One reason is the all the kids. Best investment you'll ever make for less than $5: pack of Trojans, actually being used.

That being said, Canadian ex-wife showing up seemed to suprise Eddie, which was weird, even after he said, "The kids can't fly alone." Or get through Customs, for that matter. Duh. Who'd he think was going to fly with them?

I think that the money issue is just the tip of the iceberg with Mr. Griffin. He's got a lot of "street smarts", but not a lot of financial prowess. Being a helper to your family and friends is admirable and all, but there is such a difference between being a helper and being a sponsor, and he's sponsoring a lot of the people in his life. And while I think it was a smart move to tell his son the singer and friend the boxer that they either needed to put up or shut up, he still has a lot of money tied up in them, and probably is still giving money to each of them. Sometime, they have to sink or swim on their own.

I can't believe Eddie's ex had the nerve to ask for him to make good on an offer he made when they first got divorced, and she apparently turned down. When he made the offer of buying her and the kids a house near him, he was probably still hurting from losing them and would do anything to keep them near. The saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" is usually trumped by "Out of sight, out of mind" in most cases. It looks like they had an amicable split, but if she wanted a house she should have asked for it as part of the divorce settlement. I wonder if he's up to date on his child support. I heard her make the comment, "I wish me and the kids could live like this." Eddie has got some very cute kids. I hope he's doing right by all of them.
blacman
Damn, Eddie's ex-wife was fine as hell! Just goes to show that most men will cheat on a woman no matter how good she may look. It was nice to see Eddie console his friend after the beatdown he took in the boxing ring, but come on Eddie, you invested big money into an ageing boxing? Bad, bad move Eddie. The dude had to have been 35 at least. That's a little too old to be chasing dreams of becoming a heavyweight boxing champ.

Now, i like Eddie Griffin and would pay to see him perform in Vegas, but I don't think the show will stand a chance. There are a lot of people who just don't like the guy. His material is outdated, Sammie Davis Junior and Bill Cosby impressions, come on. Most of all, not many people know who the hell he is. I may be wrong, but I just don't see how an Eddie Griffin show in Vegas will be successful.

Anyway, I do hate to see the show end and hope it get's picked up for a second season.

Actually it might be perfect timing; they made reference to Eddie reminding them of Danny Gans, who was one of the most successful performers and impersonators in LV and died at the beginning of May. DG had his own theater at The Mirage and was grossing $18M/year when he died; that would leave a big opening in the market for someone like Eddie to fill and he has name recognition and is known for his impersonations and singing along with his stand-up.

Shit, wasn't she though? I liked the figure, the face and that accent.

you invested big money into an ageing boxing?

And he was a heavy-duty dude, too. He was powerful but he didn't seem to have much speed. Eddie should just hire that dude as a bodyguard and call it a day.
