I've recently been checking out this series, which I had very fond childhood memories of, and it holds up surprisingly well. Dan Castellaneta is terrific as the Genie even if his material is sometimes lacking, and there's some really neat stories mixed well with lines adults and kids can find equally funny. There are a few dud episodes (including everything with Uncouthma, which hit that same "bad smell" joke until the running time is used up) but for the most part I'm impressed.

I liked the crossover episode they did with Hercules the Series Watching James Woods' Hades getting snarky with Jafar was cool.

This series spoiled the hell out of Iago's Heel Face Turn.
I loved the Hercules crossover too, as well as any episode with Mozenrath. Easily my favourite Disney movie to series adaptation.

That they were able to retain much of the vocal talent helped a lot in making it feel like part of the film series. The show fits comfortably between the 2nd and 3rd Aladdin films, doesn't it ?
I don't remember seeing a Hercules/Aladdin crossover episode and I thought I'd caught most of this. Was it aired in Hercules' run, Aladdin's, or as a special ?
They had some interesting villains (Mirage, that plant dude that died, Mozenrath--skeleton hand!--those suped up former thief friends of Aladdin's), but unfortunately it overused Abysmal to a criminal degree.
Possibly the best of Disney's big-screen-animated-epic-into-TV-show projects, better than The Little Mermaid's anyway. (although I never saw the young Hercules series, nor the ones for Emporer's New Groove, Tarzan, or Team Atlantis. I know Greg Weisman from Gargoyles had a hand in Team Atlantis, or was going to before it was scrapped, so I've always been pretty curious about that one, especially since he was going to write Demona into the series to explore more of her 1000 year life).

It's a Hercules episode titled "Hercules and the Arabian Night" which is set post-Aladdin series/the third film.
As for the show, I grew up with it and have been rather obsessed with the Aladdin universe since 2001. My screen name comes from the third film, after all.
My favorite episode is probably "Riders Redux" (The Riders of Remand are hilarious in an annoying sort of way), but I love "Vocal Hero" as well. I love all of Amin Damoolah's episodes.

Doing a bit more research, it seems the episode Eye of the Beholder, where Jasmine is slowly turned into a snake, is one of the most popular, at least among the fanart crowd. Jasmine really did come out on the wrong end of spells more than anyone else; besides the snake thing, off the top of my head she was turned into a rat, had her memory altered to a homeless pickpocket, had her memory erased and became evil, and got trapped underwater. No wonder she's so popular with the transformation art guys.

I remember seeing Jasmine fan art along those lines in the past (from the episode she got turned into partial snake/naga or whatever you wanna call it), so I'm not surprised.
"Eye of the Beholder" is probably also popular because it's one of the more dramatic/emotional episodes of the show, from what I recall (Aladdin got his fare share of transformations too--wasn't he turned into a shark at one point?).
Thanks for the info SalukFan. Cool to know that there's a post-third-film story, I'll check it out if Disney ever gets around to releasing more of their shows on DVD (I'm guessing they may take a while to get around to that, since they still haven't finished off Ducktales and Rescue Rangers as far as I know, nevermind Gummi Bears and Gargoyles. Dunno if Darkwing Duck and Talespin saw completion). I bet there're fans out there who'd buy mega-sets of show/movie combos. Put Little Mermaid out with all the cheapquels and Ariel's series, but do it as a limited run so that there's less risk of loss of profits, it'd sell. Same for Aladdin (I'm surprised they haven't done a trilogy boxed set for the movies at least, I thought they were some of Disney's more well-respected efforts) and maybe one or two of the other film-to-TV franchises as well.

I have *so* much love for this series. I watched it all the time as a kid. Agreed that the Mozenrath episodes were my favorites, along with any ones that featured Mirage or Sadira.
