Wow, they've managed the scores so Chuck is as good as Gilles. Way to go show.
And on top of that Melissa's AT the best of the season? 2 weeks after G&C?
Only score I agree with is Shawn's. I thought it deserved having a ten thrown in there because it was nicely done.
Lil Kim's rumba I do not like. She's stiff. Same weird stiffness she had in the vienese waltz. Her legs or feet don't really move smoothly.
Most of the evening I saw performances where even this amped up studio audience was snoozing and then there are these manufactured woots from the two clowns on either side of Len.

Um, if the celebs designed the outfits tonight, then I choreographed the group routine. I'm just saying...
Speaking of the group routine...I didn't hate it! Who the heck knew!?
I actually thought as a whole, this was the best night of dances so far. I didn't NOT like anyone. But I LOVED Shawn's cha cha and Gilles' VW. Shawn looked great, had awesome moves, and seemed to be having the best time. And Gilles was so smooth.
That said, this is the first time I didn't hate Chuck. I'm shocked at myself. It seemed like he stopped worrying about seeming girly and had a good time and it showed.
Oh, but I have a beef with Carrie Ann. Melissa's Argentine Tango, while nice enough, was SO NOT the best they've seen. Gilles and Cheryl were smoking hot during theirs, and their's looked smooth and organic. I thought Melissa looked sorta stiff and clumsy at times. And Derek and Kim's AT was better, too. So Carrie Ann, I'm glad you don't hate Tony anymore, but let's not go overboard!

I'm hoping it's LT that goes at this point. But it's anybody's guess who else will be in the B2. I'm actually a tad worried for Gilles (though not that much) just because he didn't have a wow of the dance and all the scores are so close at this point.
I thought the group dance was one of the better I've seen just because there are no absolutely horrible dancers left. It might not have been ballroom, but dare I say it actually contained dancing.
I wasn't buying that Melissa's AT was better than Gilles either, but whatever.
Chuck shocked me by not sucking, though he did blatantly grab Julianne's boob at the beginning. Though I think it was an honest mistake.
Mark is so hit or miss for choreography IMO, but I liked this one. I also have to think maybe the rhumba did Shawn so good because there was a sauciness to her performance tonight that I hadn't seen before. She's loosening up.

Edyta's dress was purty! Maybe LT has a new career ahead of him... :D
Line of the night goes to Tom: "See, we've only been putting Edyta in those costumes for her own safety!"
I agreed that the choreography and execution for Lil Kim's dance was underwhelming. At the same time, I felt sorry for her. Bruno says he wants more raunch, but you know that if they had gone in that direction, Len would have bitched about it. I personally thought they could have done with more sensuality/sexiness, though I don't blame them if they're confused with the (mixed) messages they're getting from the judges. Len's right in the sense that they can't become too preoccupied with pleasing just one judge, but they're still supposed to incorporate whatever criticism the judges give, so it's not like they can completely ignore what he says.
Ty was almost painfully out of sync during the beginning of the group dance. Oh, Ty. Still, that dance wasn't as much of a hot mess as I was expecting. Certainly not as bad as last season.
Yeah, Chuck scoring the same as Gilles was kind of an eyebrow-raising moment. Chuck's samba (?) wasn't that bad, but still...
ETA: And what do Shawn and Mark have to do to get a 10 from Carrie Ann? It's not that I think they deserve a perfect score, but she's given out 10s to worse dances IMO; and yet she raves about this cha cha and still hands out a 9? What? Len's 9 doesn't bother me, because I think he has shown greater consistency (I will conveniently ignore his giving Lawrence Taylor a 5 that one week). Then again, I guess I should be happy that she's not overscoring them, or else they'd get the same sort of backlash that Lil Kim and Derek got last week. One 10 seems okay, as Waltz says. Oh, and Shawn's dress? YUCK. The actual cut of the dress wasn't bad, but the color scheme? Mark, please stop trying to dress her with your eyes closed.

OK, so the group dance wasn't awful. Still, I thought "What was Lacey doing out there?" until I realized it was Edyta in a Lacey-esque wig...
LT and Edyta have to go. Now. (And Chuck and Julianne can follow. I wasn't as impressed as the judges were with their dance, although Chuck's red pajamas were a hot mess of an outfit.)
No clear standout for me tonight, although I liked both Melissa and Shawn's dances. Lil' Kim and Gilles were fine, though not stellar. Ty was better than Chuck or LT.

I'm seething over Carrie Ann saying Melissa's AT was better than Gilles'. First of all the performance quality wasn't even in the same universe. She is rigid in the face. Second it was very lift-centric. It was a nice enough dance but compared to the difficulty and execution of what happened 3 weeks ago that's a flaming insult from that twit.
I'm just not seeing the "a few flaws add up to a nine instead of a ten" from Lil Kim. I just don't see the high quality there.
Definitely Shawn's best dance - maybe a little more performance pow but she had her hip action, her rhythm, her arm stylings, and it was nice choreography by Mark.
Chuck was fine and I love him as a personality but I wonder what it feels like to kill yourself to excel, and you DO excel, and then somebody can do their personal best and get the same scores.
I hate score management. I hate it.
I didn't enjoy the group dance because I felt as if I got no chance to see anybody and there was very little interaction among the group. It felt like it was building up to go somewhere the whole time, then never did.

I spent the first 30 seconds of the group dance trying to figure out who the non-Derek blond guy was. Imagine my surprise when I saw that it was Chuck! If he keeps this up and stops worrying about being 'girly' I may actually have to like him. I want to know how much Derek, Ty, and LT had to bribe the costume designer to look relatively normal. All the other guys looked...interesting. Also, group mash-potato, wtf? Still, it was cute and fun and beats group hip-hop by about five miles.

Gilles and Cheryl scoring the same? What the hell show? Also Melissa and Tony's A.Tango better than Cheryl/Gilles WTF?? Carrie Ann is dead to me and this show is going down the drain fast. They are showing their script this season. Gilles and Cheryl at this point won't even make it to the finale. Shawn and Mark did a great job so did Ty and Chelsie. THe group dance rehearsal was awesome and hysterical. Chuck in that wig made me laugh so freaking hard.

Speaking of the group routine...I didn't hate it! Who the heck knew!?
Actually I was pleasantly surprised as well. That was good fun.
I liked Melissa and Tony's dance. Not sure it's the class of the ATs because I think I might be a tad biased against Gilles. He's a great dancer and seems to be a nice guy. I just don't feel anything when he and Cheryl dance.
However, the judges are clearly on something to score Chuck anywhere near Gilles. What an insult to G&C in my opinion. Not just on the competition as a whole but G&C were better this week than Chuck was (or will ever be in my book).
Glad to see the Lil Kim love was dialed down a bit this week. I think she's a fairly good dancer but her scores have been overinflated, especially for that un-jive. Me? Bitter? Why yes!
Way to bounce back Ty! I'm so happy he got a dance he can be comfortable with this week. He and Chelsie looked great. Although he's probably going to end up being a one trick pony (i.e. hold dances being his specialty) I just like him so darn much I want him around as long as possible.

I don’t know that I agree about Melissa’s dance being the best AT of the season, but I did like it. I now have a slight girl crush on her legs.
I loved Mark’s Jacko costume. I’m also surprised, I wouldn’t think that Shawn would be that familiar with MJ or PYT. She did a good job on her dress, too.
Ty, you are soo adorable! I hope you stay.
The guy worried about looking manly choose to wear red silk? Um, okay…I mean, it fit the Samba, but doesn’t really go with the whole “I’m so manly, I am a man’s man’s man, blah blah blah. “ He seems to be taking this more seriously now, but I will never like him after the way he has whined and complained.
And if Chuck doesn’t stop sticking his tongue out, I am going to put a bounty out on it. I don’t know how much, but if someone waled up and ripped it out when h had it hanging out, that’s gotta be worth some green.
The group dance is always a disaster. And that has not changed. Horrible costumes, cringe worthy choreo. But it was better than last year’s.

LT will probably be the one to go. He's the worst one left, though even he's doing much better now. I didn't disliked anyone, I even didn't hate Chuck. Julianne on the other hand, yeah, do not like.
OK, judges, there is no way that in this universe Yuckianne is as good as Gilles and Cheryl, yet they managed to score them the same. And while I'm bitching, Carrie Ann, dear, two weeks ago Gilles and Cheryl got a 30. As nice as Melissa and Tony's AT was it wasn't as good G/C.
Didn't Yuckianne have a Samba? Because if they did they also score the same as G/C's Samba and that definitely wasn't as good as G/C's.
Shawn and Mark were fantastic, that was beautiful. I loved it and they were my favorite of the night.

I liked Ty and Chelsie's waltz, but I am REALLY glad he dedicated it to Jewel. Their song, "Strawberry Wine" (which I have always loved), is about reminiscing on lost virginity. Ew. I have always enjoyed this partnership because it is a friendly, non-sexual thing. I'm sure there are other well-known country songs in 3/4 time!

I replayed LT's rehearsal footage for the group dance over and over and over. I laughed until I had tears in my eyes. That was the best part of the night for me. In the beginning of the show when I saw Edytas coat I had to laugh. LT was correct in covering her up, in fact she got so much cloth she got lost in it and covered her head. I was actually worried she as going to trip on that dress. Can I add that LT seemed to be the only one not enjoyed the group dance practice and why was he in all black during the performance? That being said, I thought he did a really good job tonight and thought they deserved "8"s. And..Edyta did look a bit miserable during group dance practice,
Loved the Argentine Tango by Tony/Melissa I assume they were doing modern tango not classical where people are attached waist to face. I don't think it's the best we have seen on the show BUT it's up there.
You know I thought the Rhumba would be Lil Kim and Derek’s dance, but she toned it down too much. In an effort to please Len they overthought it, this was the dance where she should have been let loose. However in my opinion, they were generating some serious heat even with the dance they did. I agree with the poster above about the mixed signals though.
Chuck/Julianne was fun to watch, however I prefer the samba did on the sister show to the same song. Also at times I swore Chuck's knees looked knocked during the dance and the Samba roll was not the best I have seen. However they got their "9"s. Have to add the BRIGHT RED was a bit glaring.
Does TY always get country music? The waltz was very nice and smooth..
Loved the Cha-Cha, Shawn finally discovered her hips so YAY!! That's the most hip movement I have seen from her since the shwo started. She was started to fade on my radar but she came right back tonight. Hated Marks MJ constume, could have done without the socks.
Gilles looked gorgeous, also appreciated Gilles in a bathing suit WOOT!!. Beautiful waltz, I agree with Carrie-Ann he is one of the most graceful men I have seen on this show. For some reason I didn't like the way Cheryl's dress fit her.
Also the group dance wasn't the clustermess it was last year. People seemed to have fun and the women looked cute in their costumes.

I see that Julianne's constant carping about the judges has paid off. They helped her by vastly overscoring her samba with Chuck, the world's slowest samba. That dance looked like what you'd give a middle-aged or older contestant, the male version of the dances Tony and Louis give to their older partners. He even had the Hugh Hefner pajamas. She seems to think the only way to convince people they're a couple is to wear the bedroomy outfits. And his facial expressions ranged from constipated to smug.
This is Helio all over again. They need to push Julianne and make a big star out of her partner, regardless of the dancing.
I was underwhelmed by most of the dances again. I'm glad Ty was better this week, although he still seemed hesitant. I would have thought he was overscored a bit, but compared to some of the other scores, he wasn't.

Hate to say it but it's finally become apparent that Melissa and Tony (aka the Lawrence Welk twins) are not going to make it to the final. Overmarked tango notwithstanding, she still hasn't lost that slight deer-in-headlights look. In truth, the only time they ever wowed me was her first dance (the waltz). Too bad, because I wanted to see Tony get a live one for a change and be in contention.
Loved Gilles' waltz, it was rather unique, and great footwork as usual from him, but it was Shawn's night. I do not understand why she didn't get at least one 10. How much better did she have to be?
At this point, the order of finish (up until the final) now seems cut and dried...
7. Lawrence and Edyta
6. Ty and Chelsea
5. Melissa and Tony
4. Chuck and Julianne (alas, I do think they'll beat Melissa and Tony)
and the top 3 will be Lil Kim, Gilles and Shawn. But I no longer see Gilles as a dead lock.
Funniest moment of the night for me, BTW, was commenting on Edyta's costume during the dance. I was at my mom's and watching it. I said, "Of course you know that cape will come off and she'll be in a G string or something." My mom: "Oh, I don't think so. It's the waltz!" Me: "But it's Edyta." No sooner than that was out of my mouth, then... off came the cape. (No G string, but it was still hilarious because of the timing.)

She did get one 10, from Bruno.
IMO, if Carrie Ann could afford to give a 10 last week to Lil Kim, and a 10 this week to Melissa, then Shawn deserved a 10 from her as well, relatively speaking. But by the same token, in a way I'm glad she didn't get another 10 from Carrie Ann, because this way she avoids potential backlash.

Well, I have to say, the quality of the dancing was great tonight. There's so much depth out there this season, I can't even begin to predict who will win.
My thoughts on tonight: The judging was more accurate than it's been (with the exception of Chuck, who was a few points overscored, and Gilles and Ty, who were about a point underscored each, IMO).
The group dance was cheesy, though not awful....
Melissa & Tony: Their best dance yet. Great choreography and execution. The blinding white of their teeth still drives me batty, though.
Lawrence & Edyta: He did better, but he really should be the next to go. Also, the jokes about Edyta's wardrobe are so tired. That singer on "Open Arms" was awful.
Derek & Kim: I usually love his choreography, but this was a definite misstep. I didn't bother me that Kim wasn't more raunchy, but her positions looked a little awkward and strained. I saw way too much of her crotch too.
Chuck & Julianne: Much better than expected, even though he was wearing PJs. I still think a 27 was a bit high for this.
Shawn & Mark: It's funny that she was so pressed for time and nervous this week, because she looked more comfortable than ever tonight. Her attitude out there was perfect. Wasn't crazy about the outfit though.
Ty & Chellsie: He's trying so hard and made a nice comeback tonight. He may have been a bit underscored this week. The Jewel cameo I could've done without.
Gilles & Cheryl: Well, they have set the bar so high for themselves.... I did think they were very good, though, and he was a bit underscored too. Nevertheless, I don't think jive and ballroom really play to his strengths; he's a stronger and more natural Latin dancer.
At this point, I really think Gilles, Melissa, Shawn, or Lil Kim could win, and (in addition to the audience vote/fan base) a lot of it's going to come down to choreography, music, and theatrics. I think the pros will be under more pressure than ever to create memorable performances, and Cheryl, Tony, Mark, and Derek are all great choreographers so that mirror ball could be anyone's.

Best line of the night to Chuck, "first it starts out with a wig, next is a frock".
I look forward to Chuck's inevitable "macho" rebuttal.
I too have am envious of Melissa's legs. It definitely wasn't the best AT tango we've seen on the show, and I felt that Tony outperformed her to the point of distraction, but her lifts were so purty! There were a few too many, though.
I suppose Mark and Shawn will have to perform a rousing non-jive to get more than one 10 but like
tip and fall said, I'm glad they're avoiding the ridiculous overscoring of Team Dim in the past few weeks, and thus the backlash. Mark experienced his usual bout of temporary insanity in designing Shawn's outfit, but I really liked their dance.
Bottom 2? Some combination of Chuck/LT/Lil Kim. I might have thrown Gilles in the mix, but he had the pimp spot tonight.
Cheryl and Edyta looked lovely in their dresses.

I really liked the chemistry between Edyta and LT. They were laughing and having a good time and when she put her head on his shoulder in the Red Room before the dance, he gave the cutest shy grin. I think more clothes are better for her.
I loved Chuck and Julianne's samba-don't care if he wore red pajamas or a loincloth;he was having fun and it showed. That's the first dance from them that had a real level of comfort. Julianne looked like that cute kid from her first season.
Melissa was wonderful in the AT. Great choreography from Tony and incredible execution by both of them.
Shawn and Mark were terrific in the cha cha. Just realized that his rumba last move last week was the exact same one he and Sabrina did. That might have been what the judges noticed too But the cha cha choreography was not a Sabrina re-hash. Very fresh and fun.
Derek overthought his choreography-but I thought the chemistry between the two of them sold the dance.
Oh Gilles. Beautiful dance and Cheryl looked amazing.
I liked Ty, but I don't think he can do Latin dances and he's going to have to , if he stays.
Going home, LT or Ty. Though no one should be. This is a really fun likeable group.

Personally at this point I think Gilles or Melissa will win, I think the third spot in the final three will be either Lil Kim or Shawn. At this point in the show people are solidly behind their favorites whether they do well or not. I think the final four should be Gilles, Melissa, Kim, Shawn.
Ty who I love, and brought me laughs with the wig should go after LT (next) then Chuck(next +1). Ty is so likable though he may make it to the finals and I don't think he belongs there. His dances well in standard but not Latin. However you can't help but like the guy.
My eyes are still hurting the Chuck/Julianne's bright red costumes. They should have toned it down with another color.
I was also wondering who the extra blond male was, and thought they added someone else until I figured out it was Chuck.
And agree that this was one of the best nights of dancing, no trainwrecks.
I really really enjoyed Shawn and Mark's dance this week which is good because I felt like she's been slipping a little as the weeks have gone by.
Yeah I was kinda feeling that way about her too. Tonight she stood out in a good way.

DID wish Lil Kim brought a little more pizzazz to her rumba - too toned down! After that it was a mess of Who Cares for me unfortunately! Ty was dull, Gilles was dull and LT was dulldulldull. I hope it's LT going home tomorrow.

Bears repeating, and HA to the Hef pajamas. Apparently, whine for a '9', get a '9'. Ridiculous. It was an okay samba, but not worth a 27. And not at all on the same level as Giles and Cheryl's VW. What a slap in the face to them! Shame on you, scripted reality show!
I'll say it. I loved last years group dance because it was just. SO. TERRIBLE. This years was...it was okay. My all time favorite was still season 3's group disco. If you have too many people on the dance floor, it's just too cluttered and too difficult to pick out particular couples.

The judge's love for Melissa, or should I say ABC's love, is really starting to annoy me. It's so obvious they want her to win so they can get more magazine covers and news stories out of the poor girl that was dumped on national TV, but came back to win the hearts of America. Barf!
My favorite dances of the night were Cheryl/Gilles and Shawn/Mark. I'm really hoping Gilles wins this thing, he really deserves it, for the most part he's been brilliant the entire season.

ITA. This has been a great season and in particular tonight was a great night. These four all have done well overall and have also all gotten at least one 10. I thought Chuck's dance was good tonight. As far as the actual Samba moves I don't know, but he was certainly in step with what Julianne was doing. Part of me is hoping for Derek/Lil Kim to win because I love Lil Kim's enthusiasm, but the other part of me would like to see Melissa/Tony win because Tony is the only pro of the four who does not have a mirror ball.
I liked the 1960s dance. The weakest dancers were Ty and LT on the group dance. Ty was off step at the beginning, but he brought forth the energy, and LT actually seemed to have the right steps, but there was a lack of energy that he seemed to bring to the dance. It was infinitely better than the hip hop dance from last season, and I liked the black and white camera shots. Plus, how funny was Ty doing the hippie thing at the rehearsal? Seriously, with that long black hair and glasses he almost looked like Ozzy Osbourne in the face!

It wouldn't surprise me. He's not interested, CAI!
I just realized that Kim's tentativeness in her dances could be due to her injuries, though she's seemed to have that problem from the beginning. If it's not due to injuries, I wish Derek would hurry up and try to break her of it.
I love how Tom praises the band right after their lukewarm rendition of whatever song Chuckles and Julianne danced too. Like Melissa's rumba last week, the singers took me right out of the dance.

The shiny red jammies bothered me - especially the 2 different reds . I thought they clashed. I think what bothered me most about upchuck tonight was his arms - When he extends his arms it looks just so bad. Maybe he hyperextends them. It's unnatural and not at all graceful.
I wandered out during the LT dance - bored. But at least he doesn't whine for a nine.
Love the stiff little cowboy - dont' care if he can't dance a lick. Good thing I don't vote.
CA is right - Gilles is the most graceful man. Wouldn't it be great if he was a nice as he seems?
I wondered what the hell when i saw what Mark was wearing, but it was authentic to the MJ suits - short pants and white socks and all. I wasn't that into the dance at first but it got better as it went along. I've been a bit bored by them for the last couple of weeks.
Not a rhumba fan and that one was no exception. yawn.

Yep O2, Julianne's snit yielded trip 9s. It does feel like Helio revisited. However, I did manage to watch them and he's effeminate but better than Ty and LT. I still hope they were really in the B2 last week and they're headed out. I'm tired of her tantrums succeeding, and I know I need to prepare myself, they'll probably be in the final and I'll be the one in the snit because one of my faves will be gone instead.
Speaking of which, my conscience has been nagging me about never voting for Melissa so I split my votes between her and Gilles tonight. I know, I hear everybody that her AT didn't match Gilles', but I loved it anyhow and felt sorry for her when she was hurting afterwards. She's been SUCH a good sport too. I need to rewatch but on first viewing, she looked AMAZING, her legs were gorgeous, I really liked what she did in the AT.
Speaking of Chuck's effeminacy, I *loved* it when Bruno got him, after the group dance, he said to Chuck - first comes the wig, next it'll be a frock. Chuck-face did NOT look happy later on during a camera pan of the ending lineup. Hee :)
I can't stand Lil Kim's dancing anymore. Never was much of a fan. I sure hope she's not in the final. And Shawn looked so much more mature in her cha cha. Maybe she was right when she said the Rhumba was a real quantum leap for her. Wow! She was quite the performer tonight.

I wish they wouldn't compare people. They have set Melissa up for so much hate. Why does Carrie Ann do this? Is she trying to screw with Tony?
Word!
I thought Melissa and Tony were great (thought I will admit that I thought Carrie Ann's comment was over the top. They weren't better than Gilles and Cheryl). I do think it will set Melissa and Tony up for some major voting backlash. Sigh.
LOVED Gilles and Cheryl tonight. I was so happy to see Gilles do something beautiful and graceful that wasn't loaded with petting. Don't get me wrong, he has been great, but I like that he is versatile. I was beginning to wonder.
I am tired of hearing about golf. I know that is a poor reason to wish LT home. He also seemed so stiff about the group routine. He can be so fun, but he can also be so over this whole thing.

I am with O2Sean that it was a bit underwhelming tonight. I thought Melissa's AT was fine but no way was it better than Gilles, IMO. Also, in what world is Chuck's samba equal to Gilles' waltz. Chuck though was channeling his "brothers" tonight. First, Mark's ketchup costume inspired samba costume for himself and the blonde wig.
I thought Shawn really came out tonight and had fun! I think she seemed more relax but WTF with the costume, yet again. Also, mugging Mark returned in the dance. Also not a fan of what he is doing to his hair. Still a fun routine for Shawn. I sense if the show gave Shawn her 30 or a 29, there would be no backlash. I think Shawn is backlash proof similar to Kristi. I don't people would be in a tizzy over her getting tens compared to any other celeb this season, including Gilles. IMO, only Gilles has really earned a 30. But I sense people are rooting for her and expecting her to do well that this is only igniting her fan base more. I still think Shawn is doing really well in the votes and the 9s from CA, etc. are all a means to keep things interesting and not make her look like Kristi 2.0.
I agree Lil Kim's rumba was underwhelming. I actually thought the choreography was fine but not Derek's best. I felt the choreography and performance were about trying to address comments by Len and it was overthought and too understated.
Chuck was the overscored celeb tonight and if it wasn't more obvious the show wants Julianne to stick around. The show loves them Houghs, but I did not think Chuck's samba was that much better than Ty or LT.
Group dance was fun, and welcome back Christian Perry. It was such an improvement from the trainwrecks known as seasons 6 and 7 group dances.

Is there any chance that Pasha and/or Anya will be in the pro comp tomorrow? Hoping hopey hope.

I hope the tongue baths do not lead to a backlash for her. Just as I hoped the same for Kim. That would stink because Melissa's actually growing on me as a dancer and loving Tony this season. But I think the OTT praise can backfire on her since she is a bit polarizing celeb this season. If Shawn's backlash proof, I think Melissa is most vulnerable to backlash.
I am guessing tomorrow's bottom will be some combination of the LT/Ty and Lil Kim. I would say Chuck but they overscored him and no way Gilles, Melissa or Shawn are in the bottom.
I loved the colors and Edyta's costume. Just take out the part in the back she got tangled in and it was my favorite Edyta costume. I also thought Gilles did a great job with Cheryl's dress.

I thought Lil' Kim was going to get 8's based on the critique. Color me shocked when she got two 9's. She looked surprised too. I didn't care for their rumba, but I generally don't like the rumba anyway.
LT - meh. He started out well then just sort of trailed off. Had to chuckle when Edyta got caught in her dress. And Tom's comment about her usual lack of clothing being for her own safety? Hee hee.
Surprised at Chuck's samba, but agree that it was overscored. And he was totally grabbing Julianne's left breast in that one move at the beginning!
Melissa's AT was lovely, but not the best of the season. I'm not sure how you could top Gilles/Cheryl's AT. But that's Carrie Ann for you...
Yay! Ty looked great in his waltz. He really is more suited to the ballroom dances. But that version of "Strawberry Wine?" Ugh. I like that song but that performance... I was really hoping he'd get to waltz to "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys." Maybe if he sticks around to do a VW. I'm sure they could get permission to use it. Willie Nelson could use the money, right?
Loved Gilles VW, Bruno was right though. He can't help being sexy.
And, finally, Shawn's cha cha was fantastic! I loved it, my favorite dance of the night. Wow! I'm glad Bruno gave her a 10.

I missed Melissa's dance, and I'm kicking myself for not getting downstairs on time.
I LOVED Shawn's dance, she knocked that one right out of the ballroom.
I was underwhelmed with Lil'Kim's and Giles's dance. Lil Kim's was boring, and Giles looked hesitant through most of his.
lol @ Chuck wearing silk pjs during his dance. I swear the costume designers have it out for him.

I felt that Chuck and Lil Kim were both over scored. I expected to see Kim really own the routine and I wasn't feeling Chuck's routine overall.
I loved Ty's routine. I felt it was leaps and bounds better than LT's Waltz...I do feel like he would much rather be golfing, or doing anything but this show. I would have given Ty a point or so higher.
The group dance was fairly enjoyable.

I thought it was inappropriate and just icky of Cheryl to say that she thought Gilles would've put her in a lot less fabric when Samantha asked her what she thought Gilles' design for her would be. His wife his sitting right there and Cheryl is chirping that she assumed Gilles would want her more naked. It struck me as rather tasteless, but I'm not a huge fan of Cheryl's anyway.

I strongly disagree that Shawn's immune to backlash. I'm sure if she had danced a non-jive and been awarded two 10s for it, we'd be seeing plenty of backlash. (Well, in her case it would have been the non-lindy hop.) And I really don't think that Carrie Ann is underscoring her (relatively speaking) and overscoring Kim and Melissa in some Machiavellian scheme to ultimately help Shawn; IMO that gives Carrie Ann wayyyy too much credit. Her blogs have been too defensive about her scoring for me to think she's being anything but honest with her scores. (Honest, but inconsistent.)
And because it bears repeating: how do Chuckles and Gilles score the same? At this point I'm not even a huge fan of Gilles (he's a good dancer, no doubt, I just don't consider myself a fan now), but good grief, that scoring was...off, to say the least.

First, a great big WTF and FU to my local ABC affiliate, for reporting on a freaking thunderstorm that had already passed most of our area, and wasn't even that bad, for the first twenty minutes of the show! Pissants.
Anyway, bless whoever put Melissa and Tony's Argentine Tango on YouTube so quickly, because I just had to see it after reading the comments here :) I'm not peeved about what Carrie Ann said, even though I don't agree, but good gracious - there haven't been that many ATs on the show. Saying it's the best isn't much of a compliment, really. And personally I prefer Gilles and Cheryl's, but one has to admit that Melissa's level of difficulty and intricate footwork far surpass Gilles's. I thought she did very well, and I enjoyed Tony's choreography. I even got a little chill at one point.
Doesn't sound like I missed much as far as LT and Edyta are concerned.
I think what bothered me most about upchuck tonight was his arms - When he extends his arms it looks just so bad. Maybe he hyperextends them. It's unnatural and not at all graceful.
I agree. I was thoroughly distracted by the entire line of his extended arms, from fingertip through the shoulders to fingertip. I think his lower body samba action might have even been pretty decent, but the upper body was bad. Too funny about him grabbing her booby.
Didn't care for Gilles's VW. He did well, but Cheryl had to go and throw in "sexy" moves - would you just let him be? He's already sexy, just let him dance the freaking dance! Also, does anyone else have Beauty and the Beast running through their head, looking at Cheryl's dress? Admit it!
Jewel's anecdote about Ty picking her wildflowers was cute. Good to see her without crutches.
I kind of want my own samba dress like Julianne's. SuperFringey.

Blue she was actually refering to what Gilles told the costume designer last week about how she should only wear a strip of fabric accross her chest. He was the first one to mention putting her in a sexy number not Cheryl.
