Seven-time Academy of Country Music "Vocal Group of the Year" artists Rascal Flatts return to the "Dancing with the Stars" stage with their hit, "Here Comes Goodbye," from their new album, "Unstoppable," released on April 7, 2009. Joining them on stage are professional dancers Tony Dovolani and Julianne Hough. Also performing The Beatles' hit, "Revolution," the Grammy Award-winning country artists put a new spin on a favorite for their second performance of the night, along with professional dancers Mark Ballas, Chelsie, Hightower Aliona Vilani and Artem Chigvintsev.
From one of the most memorable musicals and love stories of all time, the cast of the Broadway revival "West Side Story" transforms the ballroom with a spectacular performance of "America." With original music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Steven Sondheim, the Tony Award-winning "West Side Story" was written by Arthur Laurents and is based off of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.
In a special Macy's Stars of Dance performance, choreographer Lindsley Allen brings a classic cabaret performance starring actress and dancer Carmen Electra to the "Dancing with the Stars" stage alongside the dance troupe Cherry Boom Boom. The Los Angeles based Cherry Boom Boom was created by Lindsley Allen, formerly of the burlesque Pussy Cat Dolls, and is a return to vintage Hollywood glamour and traditional cabaret.
By evening's end one couple will be eliminated. Who among the following eight teams will leave the ballroom floor?

Holy crap camera angles Batman! This episode truly was an eyesore. Every live! shot in the ballroom was out of focus. I thought my vision had gone blurry to be perfectly honest, and it took the longest time for the camera to focus. The wide shot of Tom and Samantha in front of the audience was too wide and too long. It was just a really ugly episode cinematography wise. And what happened after Gilles and Cheryl were called safe? I heard Tom say "Well, that was abrupt!" Did they even get the signal for a commercial? What's going on production!?
I couldn't help but laugh at burlesque being one of the featured dance performances. No, Carmen Elektra doesn't equal legitimacy.
Not surprised Steve-O left considering his scores. Had he gotten 6's, I believe he would have stayed.

Well, I certainly don't have her figure, but I think even I could've pulled off Carmen Electra's choreography in that dance. Wow. What... talent.
And what is with the change-ups, show? No dance-off? (Thank you!) Not letting the judges say who they picked for the encore? (Len couldn't stomach pretending tonight? Further leading me to believe it really isn't the judges' choice.) The weird way you called the first several couples safe? Letting the stars design next week's costumes? (Yikes!)
Also, technical issues, much? Overall, a rather meh results show, following a rather meh competition.
Lastly, no! Dont prop up Chuck/Julianne! Gads, I want them (and LT) gone!
I missed it if they did, but did they mention if Ty and Steve-O were officially the Bottom 2 this week, or not?

Chuck talking about how he was turned on was a complete overshare.
I felt sorry for Edyta when LT and Samantha started that back-and-forth about how she doesn't like to wear clothes. Of course Edyta is too polite to say STFU.
As soon as Tom said that the other couple wasn't necessarily in the bottom two, I knew that Ty was safe. He may have been on a downward slide these past two weeks, but I think he's really popular among the voters.
While I feel bad for Steve-O, a part of me was glad that Woz was denied after begging so strenuously on behalf of his buddy. Yes, I have reached pathetic levels of Woz-hate.

Yay - they didn't boot Ty! I'll kind of miss Steve-O (just a tad) but...did he say he sometimes "man-struates"? Gross.
Why couldn't CHUCK have been booted? That clip where he said he was so turned on...ick.
I see Carmen Electra can't act, even in a dance routine.
I muted Rascal Flatts after the singer country-warbled the first line of "Revolution." Good grief!

What a boring show. Rascal Flatts should be forbidden from butchering Beatles songs ever again.
For a second, I had a glimmer of hope that Chuck was going home. I just wanted to smack the smug look off Julianne's face while they were waiting for the results. She know she isn't going anywhere. So now we get them and Lawrence in the group dance. Oh joy.
Bye Steve-O. Despite your bad dancing, I would have much rather seen you stick around over Chuck and LT. Here's to hoping (if she comes back), Lacey gets a good partner next season.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!! When it was down to Steve-O and Ty I was saying "please not TY, please not TY"...I gotta throw some votes his way next week.
As for LT, I guess the Warren Sapp visit did him some luck. Believe it or not I would have much prefered LT go over Steve-O.
I know there will be some discontent that Lil Kim got the encore two weeks, but from what I have read online Gilles was supposed to get the encore last week but I guess he is injured and couldn't do the dance.
Liked the dance with Chelsea/Mark/Artem/?

Seriously. A few seasons ago, when I first started watching, I barely noticed Tony. Now I think he's the hottest pro man out there by far. He was amazing dancing with Julianne. So amazing that even Julianne couldn't ruin it for me.
I want Tony to get a steaming hot and sexy partner next season. Melissa is an improvement over some of the partners Tony has had, but she's too cutesy apple pie. Tony deserves the female equivalent of Gilles.

Steve-O leaving leaves me conflicted inside...He wasn't a good dancer by any means, but him and Lacey obviously wanted to be there (Edyta!) and he had such a positive attitude on everything (Chuck!) I know its a dance competition and all, but its so much more enjoyable when the contestants and dancers actually want to be there and not fuss about everything

I thought LT trying to put more clothes on Edyta was the most charming I've seen him. It's nice to see someone avoid the smarm. He genuinely seems to think she'd be better off with a few more garments.
I believe every syllable of Cheryl's "Letting Gilles design my costume is the worst idea DWTs has ever had." She's no actress and that rang of flat out sincerity. I trust Randall to make sure Cheryl doesn't have to do the Viennese waltz in a g-string, no matter what Gilles' apparent intentions.
Have to say I'm boiling mad over the Lil Kim encore. Last week, I assumed the reason Gilles and Cheryl's paso didn't get the encore was because they'd had it the week before. And DWTs had Lil Kim repeat her pallid waltz. But then it's okay for Lil Kim to get two encores in a row?
I don't mind bullshit, but no so much with it in my face. The blatancy grates.
Samantha did say "Amen and alleluia" and it made me cringe. She's a little -- parochial? Un-PC? Embarrassing? Sheltered? Ignorant?

Who knew Rascall Flatts did a Beatle cover? Not so sure that's a good thing. I did like their own song. I enjoyed Julianne and Tony's dance.
I need some ear bleach though after hearing Chuck say he was still turned on after the dance. ewww.
I died laughing when LT told the designer needed to put more clothes on Edyta, because next week "Momma's watching." My son was moaning that next week the costumes are going to be awful. I told him that the designers would just consider the celebs input, and it would be fine. At least I hope so.
It was time for Steve-O to go.

Waltz, I agree. Also, it really rankles when the show starts hyping how Gilles HAS BEEN TOPPLED AND OMG THERE'S A NEW LEADER!!! when the whole time I'm thinking, "But the scores last night were so bogus!" I know this isn't anything new, that the show wants to act like Gilles has some serious competition, similar to seasons 6 and 7. But...well, let's compare it to season 6. Yeah, Kristi fell behind Jason at one point for the quickstep (I think). But at least Jason's quickstep was pretty damn good, even if overall he couldn't hold a candle to her. So, you could accept his place on top, albeit temporarily. But in this situation, the week when the judges dethrone Gilles, they decide to hype a markedly error-prone, jive-free performance from Kim instead. That's some serious bullshit right there.
Once again, I know DWTS is always full of bullshit when it comes to producer manipulations, but can't they at least try to be more subtle? Is that too much to ask? Probably is.
ETA: I don't know who else they could have chosen, though. Melissa?

Such a TMI statement. I am pretty sure Ty was safe and not in the bottom 2. I am guessing it was LT but of course they needed LT safe to my cracks about Edyta's wardrobe choices. I am actually looking forward to next week and the costume choices the celebs made.
The rest of the show was a bore. I was happy to see Tony/Julianne dance together. I really like their dances. Also, I love Aliona and Artem so loved seeing them on the results show again.
Body language lady must have a doctorate in stating the obvious.
Carmen Electra was a celeb I thought would appear on DWTS competing and not going to hold my breath, there's always a chance she will. The routine was a bore and so wrong that she was wearing the fierce Anna T.'s cha cha costume. When Tom said it was choreographed by an original Pussycat Doll member, I thought it was going to be Christina Applegate. On the topic of Tom, it is worth bloop blooping through the results shows for his comments.
I know the show is not introducing encores to probably speed up the show and put more into the results show. But why not just cut out the whole two by two elimination style pairings tonight.

Plus I don't like how he obviously makes Edyta feel uncomfortable, unhappy and just generally a ball of misery.
But I really didn't mind that Steve-O was put out of his misery. I'm happier that Ty stayed, because, sometimes he's on beat and does some dancing-like-stuff. Watching Steve-O try to "dance" was just getting painful.

But...well, let's compare it to season 6.
Ugh. Jason tied Kristi despite tripping in that v. waltz to make sure Kristi had a competitor "close" to her all season long. If it wasn't that, every ten seconds, Samantha would ask "can you top Kristi" and almost celebratory when someone took over the leaderboard one week. It is annoying then. I am not going to be upset at Kim for the producer manipulation. But I agree, waltz. The anvils could not be dropping more obviously tonight. Though if Gilles not getting the encore last week was due to his injury as mentioned upthread, then my hate for the producers drop just a tad (temporarily). Though I will say Kim looked better tonight than she did last night. I do think part of what the producers want, since the top 3 is pretty secure, is to set Kim to take the backlash and "competition" to the top 3 in the mean time so the finals are more surprising. That's the first thing I thought when I saw that she got the encore.
I don't know who else they could have chosen, though. Melissa?
Yeah, last night's dancing was lackluster and as mentioned last night, a bit of a bizzaro world as I enjoyed LT and Steve-O's dances. I actually thought they would give it to LT because honestly, for me, it was fun and a bit of a breakthrough for him. Also because I thought he was leaving tonight.

I agree. He came off really earnest and willing despite the judges' drawl. Loved him ripping the illogical judges scoring every week. This is the first week I didn't think LT was a blunt, bastardous meanie. Coincidentally, he happened to suck less than Steve-O, so I expected him to be safe. What to say about Carmen Electra's "dancing" ? That woman is as much a dancer as I am a cabbage. She either stood or sat for 90% of that "dance." My God! The most rooted to the ground of Julianne's potted-plant-partners was Nuryev compared to this. I was never quite sure who the hell CE was since I always figured she was a porn star since I'd heard her name but couldn't think of anything she'd been in, hence my guess of porn. But has she ever represented herself as a "dancer" before? Or is this some relatively new con she's sprung on an unsuspecting public?
As for the rest of it i.e. the Pussycat Doll "singing" (I think this is the largest use of quatation marks I have ever used in a post. I swear) and the other girls' "choreo" they were equally inept. Some have put forth that Lil Kim shouldn't be on this "family show" because of her past and I defended her and still will, but if it would erase the Pussycat Dolls and CE from my memory I would gladly join some ultra Christian right wing group just to make it so. Gah!
I thought Julianne and Tony's choreo was too much for the song. I think they could have chucked two thirds of thier tricks and had a more lyrical beautiful dance. This was too busy in my opinion.
Wonder why they didn't reveal bottom two.

I've been keeping track of the actual eliminations versus Entertainment Weekly's predictions, mainly because it has annoyed me how scornful they've always been of DwtS and the shortshrift they've given it in their mag in spite of how popular it is. I wanted to be able to laugh at how off they'd be! Of course, I have to give them some slack now because they made the list before Jewel and Nancy O'Dell dropped out and before anyone knew how good Gilles would be. He was their pick to be first ousted. Anyway, to get to my point, after Gilles, they picked Wozniak, DAG, and Steve-O to go next, in that order, and they did go in that order (after the three ladies, one of whom - Holly - EW didn't factor in). So, their list isn't perfect, but getting the order of those three men right is interesting to me, so I'm hoping their next pick - Chuck! - will be right too.
Seriously. A few seasons ago, when I first started watching, I barely noticed Tony.
What I'm noticing is that he is a better choreographer than I've ever given him credit for. In past seasons, I've found his choreography dull and slow, slow, slow, and it can't all be chalked up to his having older women as his partner. He's also had SK and SE. But he's picked up his game this season. I'm still not counting him amongst the best, yet, but Melissa or the judges' comments or something seems to have challenged him in that area, and I'm liking it.
Well, durn! For a very, very, very brief moment I was completely convinced that Chuck & Julianne were going home.

Yes, it twerked me off, too. I've not had anything against Lil' Kim/Derek up to this point in the competition, but the egregiously blatant propping up is not having the effect on me, at least, that TPTB were probably hoping. I hate being told what to like.

They have world-class professionals on contract and we have to watch shaky awkward pigeon-toed Carmen Electra? How the hell did she ever get famous? Wiki calls her: glamour model, actress, television personality, dancer, entertainer and sex symbol. Yeah right. She needs to stumble her way on out of the limelight...
I've already thrown my hissy fit over Lil Kim's 10's (and every ludicrous over- and under-marking on this ludricrous show.) I'm hoping this means her vote tallies are low and they know she'll soon be a "shock elimination." Sorry Kim fans but I don't think much of her sloppy footwork or bordering-desperate neediness. And then the propping is just the icing on the cake.
I'm ok with LT all of a sudden. I liked his dissing the skimpy costumes and I even LIKE skimpy costumes for the most part (loved Lacey's undies last night) but I've seen so much of Edyta's frontal region, bare down to her pubic bone, that it's just lost all it's excitation and I'm just worn out with it. It haunts my damned dreams (and I don't want it to!) Give me Karina's crotch anyday.
Where was I? Oh Steve-O. I think he's been checked out since the bottom-3 week when I got the impression he was really let down that he didn't go home - I mean the odds were in his favor! And Yuckianne - oh crap. Gotta endure another one. Is next week the "team dance"? WTF? If it's as bad as last year's, I'm not responsible for whatever nastiness comes out of my keyboard. And to think in Season 1, we got a lovely group Viennese Waltz! Now DwtS has turned into High School Musical, only worse.

I absolutely believe that Yuckianne(Love it) was in the bottom 2 and that was why they didn't reveal the actual bottom 2. They could get away with it because Ty didn't do as good as he has the past few weeks, people would have no trouble believing that he was in the bottom 2.

- Tony and Julianne's dance made my head spin, and I really like her. It was too showy and manic. I was annoyed, or possibly jealous that I'm almost 6 feet tall and have yet to meet a man who can throw me around like that. She's got great lean muscle, though. Props to her.
- Kim and Derek are adorable. I want them to be friends after this and hang out. I really want this to happen.
- I peeked over at the Samantha Harris thread last night to see what all the hoopla was about and watched for gaffes tonight. I cringed a lot.
- Carmen Electra's costume was a smidge too small, or maybe she gained weight after having it custom designed? Her little pooch (still better than mine) was distracting. Other that than, I liked the performance.
- The WST dance was great, although I had already seen it on one of those morning shows. I agree with the previous posters about the shouting. That might have made my Julianne-induced headache worse.
Edited because I apparently can't type tonight...

I forgot to say I'm glad Lil Kim got the encore because I was reading somewhere that Gilles said he hurt his ham string on the jump last night. The LAST thing on earth I want is for injuries to sideline him or knock him out. Though I guess I'd be on the Melissa bandwagon if so. She's really sweet for a cheerleader reality-star.
But didn't Gilles say Kim miss two days with a rib-cage injury? Which helps me hang on to my low-vote theory w/Kim.
Oh and why are they being so silly with the on-again off-again dance off? They really are making everything up as they go, just to keep on manipulating and aggravating. I wonder if Chuck's another one they're expecting to go fairly soon and thus putting him up there in the last three couples. Go Chuck go. Home.

Was that Mark dancing with Chelsie during the one routine? When Artem was the other male dancer? If so, they need to never ever dance together again. I thought it was incredibly awkward and they did not mesh well as dance partners. As compared to when he does the pro dances with Lacey and Julianne, it was really awful. I had to turn away.

Samantha's "hallelujah" to Lil' Kim was beyond offensive. Except that Lil' Kim has pulled so much of a Michael Jackson (plastic surgery, bleaching the skin) so it's weird.
