Not to be confused with tv shows that parody other tv shows. This is regarding tv shows that mention in conversation another tv show or somehow reference another tv show. This can include tv characters watching a tv show on their televison or characters from one tv show making an appearance.
KING OF QUEENS made several references to The Jeffersons:
Doug sings Jeffersons theme song when he tries to help out Ray Barone (from Everybody Loves Raymond) at the DMV
A clip from The Jeffersons plays on the tv when Doug tries to get jokes to roast his boss.
Doug has a dream that he is singing The Jeffersons theme song with a church choir in the episode where he feels jealous of Deacons new friend
When Doug and Carrie are returning home from Arthurs house warming party, Doug says "deeeeluxe aparment...in the sky" obviously refering to Jeffersons theme song.
Doug once called his friend Spence, "My little Gilligan" (Gilligan's Island) and refers to himself as "the skipper".
Carrie says, "I'm Pinky Tuscadero" (Happy Days) in the episode where she buys a pink motorcycle helmet so she can ride with Doug.
The Brady Bunch is also referenced:
Doug: Who do you know who sits in bed and reads?
Carrie: Mike and Carol Brady.
And this one as well:
Doug: They could put a piece of tape down the middle of house, each take a side. It worked for the Brady kids.
Carrie:Oh really, did Peter ever call Greg a son of a bitch rat bastard?
Doug: May have, I didn't see every episode.
Carrie, Uh, pretty sure ya did.
And of course, the Heffernans neighbor was Lou Ferrigno. References were made about his tv show THE HULK.

One I liked was on 30 Rock this season, when Tracey Jordan arranged a reunion between half the cast of Night Court. :)

A few weeks ago on Psych, someone (I think it was Gus) asked Shawn what he was going to do that night, he said he was going to watch a few episodes of The Mentalist with his dad.

On Laverne & Shirley, Laverne's father had mentioned watching "Jack Paar".
On Happy Days, Richie appears on the Howdy Doody Show.
I believe at least one reference was made to the Ed Sullivan Show.
On King of Queens, Doug is seen talking to Isaac the bartender from The Love Boat in a dream he has.
Good Times referenced The Waltons many times along with Sanford & Son. I believe there was a time when the parents were in front of the tv watching S&S.
On Three's Company, Chrissy mentions Little House on the Prairie during a toast.

Don't forget Fonzie's first motorcycle jump (not the one over the shark), which was on the show "You Asked For It".
There was also a scene once where Mrs. C wouldn't let Joanie watch "You Bet Your Life".
"The Carol Burnett Show"...Eunice sang "Feelings" on "The Gong Show".
"M*A*S*H"...When Sidney is talking to Radar about his teddy bear, he asks, "Do you know how many people write letters to Romeo and Juliet and think 'I Love Lucy' is real?"
And, of course, one of the centerpieces of "American Dreams" was references to "American Bandstand".

He also references Lost. In one episode, I think the Initiation, he takes Ryan to the beet farm and asks him "what is the Dharma Initiative". Also in the "Boys and Girls" episode, when the office folks head down to the warehouse, he makes an "Others" reference. There is also Andy who mentions getting his "Lost" on Wednesday night.
Scrubs also referenced House. It not only referenced it, but spoofed it. It also did the same with Grey's Anatomy.

That's right!
There was also a reference to YOUR HIT PARADE in either season one or season two. One of the girlfriends of Potsie mentions Snooky Lanson singing. Mind you, when this first aired, I had no clue what she was saying. As time went on I found out. ; )

I haven't watched House in a couple of years, but I know he used to be a huge General Hospital fan.
Speaking of GH, I remember a couple of seasons back when Lucky was still married to Liz (before the Jiz stuff started), he was in the hospital and wanted Liz to stay with him so they could watch LOST together. This sticks out with me because I love Lucky and I love LOST...the two together just rocked for me.

Speaking of soaps, Friends did both a reference and an inside joke by having Joey get a recurring role on Days of Our Lives (Jennifer Aniston's father was a longtime cast member of DOOL).

WHAT'S HAPPENING: One episode had the characters dream/imagine they were characters from THREE'S COMPANY, MORK & MINDY and HAPPY DAYS.
WHAT'S HAPPENING: During one episode where Dee has a date with a boy named Luther who watches a lot of tv, The CAROL BURNETT SHOW, BARETTA, STARSKY & HUTCH and a couple of other shows are mentioned.
On an episode of "Full House", Jessie and Joey were fighting, and Jessie said "Maybe there are too many dads here. Haven't you ever seen that show My Two Dads? Two is all you need."
QUANTUM LEAP-once when Sam was in 1980, they showed someone watching "MAGNUM, P.I." (and both shows were produced by Donald P. Bellisario)
Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life--both have mentioned The Brady Bunch
Married...with Children has Al flipping channels and the FACTS OF LIFE theme song comes on.

Quantum Leap also had Sam (in 1961 or 1962) watching a Leave it to Beaver episode. Without thinking, he starts laughing and says "I love this one!" Which is odd to his "mom" because, re-runs don't exist yet.

Also on Friends, Chandler calls Monica "Fred Sanford" and sings the theme when he opens her closet of junk.
ETA: There's a ton on Friends: Joanie Loves Chachi, Laverne & Shirley, Sesame Street... and when Marcel sets the TV to Spanish, Rachel learns that "Urkel" in Spanish is "Urkel."

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Spike was a HUGE fan of the soap "Passions" and referenced it quite often including events that really were happening on the show. IIRC, Buffy's mom also made a comment once about being a fan.
Apparently the show Passions was so pleased/grateful (IIRC their ratings actually improved after some Buffy fans started tuning in because of it) that they had one of their characters become a Buffy fan and had her "watching" the show and yelling for Spike to "Look out!" or making comments about not trusting Buffy, etc. from time to time.

Babylon 5 used to have all its radio messages come in on Channel Four because it was Channel Four that showed the series in the UK.

Scrubs is always giving shout-outs to TV shows, mostly from the 70's and early 80's. Their "TV Land" programming seems to be much, much cooler than mine. Turk and JD love the "Sanford and Son" theme, and JD has fantasized about both Rerun (From "What's Happening") and his "Rerun Dance" (complete with suspenders & beret) several times.
And yes, I know I'm showing my age, but anytime friends/family and I do a toast, I always think about the Three's Company episode where Jack and Janet are toasting to "Good Times, Happy Days", and Chrissy chimes in with "Little House on the Prairie"! I was a child of the 70's, what can I say!

Family Guy's Peter referenced Good Times when he mentioned Florida dealing with James' death in a car accident. He also mentioned The Jeffersons and saying, "they moved on up to the east side."

Fonzie's first motorcycle jump (not the one over the shark), which was on the show "You Asked For It".
Techically the show was, "You Wanted To See It". I think it was based on YAFI, but they couldn't clear the rights or something.
Laverne & Shirley also referenced other TV shows of their era like "Sea Hunt" & "77 Sunset Strip".
Charmed mentioned "Buffy" once in a first season ep. Prue & Pheobe were dealing with a ghost and went looking for his grave in a cemetary at night. Phoebe quips, "Where's Buffy when you need her?". Both shows were on the old WB at the time.
QUANTUM LEAP-once when Sam was in 1980, they showed someone watching "MAGNUM, P.I." (and both shows were produced by Donald P. Bellisario)
True! Not to mention an ep of SNL (when Sam was in the body of a Hollywood stuntman in 1975-76). He was watching the one where Chevy Chase did one of his many Gerald Ford impersonations.

The Big Bang Theory does this a
lot. And not just
Star Trek, as you would expect geeks to reference. Of the top of my head here are a few examples I can think of:
- In the Pilot, Sheldon mentions that he and Leonard are going to re-watch their Battlestar Galactica DVDs.
- A new neighbor gets a small role as a dead hooker on CSI.
- One subplot involves Howard and Raj putting their geek skill to use to try to find the America's Next Top Model house (so that they can be there to "comfort" the models as they get booted).
- Just a few episodes ago, they were watching an anime that was actually a reference to Two and a Half Men, because the theme song of the anime had been written by that show's main character. (Both BBT and TaaHM are Chuck Lorre shows)
I'm sure there are more, but that's a random sampling.

HAPPY DAYS also referenced The Untouchables when the whole family was watching it on their television. There was a small clip shown on the television.

I saw an episode of King of Queens yesterday where Doug is stuck in the attic and while waiting to be extracted, he hums the theme songs to Sanford & Son and What's Happening! while Carrie tries to figure out what themes he is humming.

I'm sure there are many other references to other biopic shows on Metalocalypse, but the one that stuck with me was in the episode "Cleanzo" where the life of Dr. Rockzo is chronicled in a VH1 Behind the Music format, hee!
