William Shatner (Star Trek) hosts this talk show where he has one guest per episode. It appears on the Biography Channel.

Here is a list of the people he has interviewed thus far:

I loved the episode with actress Valerie Bertinelli. Very raw indeed. Very open and topics such as heaven and hell. Interesting and different. Things I heard said by Valerie that I have never heard before. Probably because those kind of questions were never asked of her before. I love this show. Anyone else enjoying this?

So far what I've seen of it is very contradictory. Somehow it manages to be kind of uncomfortable, and yet also kind of interesting. Obtuse in some ways, but insightful in others. Hilarious, and yet kind of pathetic. "Raw" is probably an accurate phrase to sum many of those contradictions up.

I caught most of the Judge Judy episode and I, too, was uncomfortable yet intrigued. I think the seating arrangement squicked me out the most. While I can see that they're trying to create an intimate and even semi-confrontational space, their faces seemed far too close for comfort; I was afraid they were going to start making out at any moment.

Any way to watch this on-line?

Don't have access to it otherwise...

Well, part of it is that Shatner is a blowhard. That might actually be working for the show, because it fits into the idea that he's "raw"--in other words he's not exactly subtle or tactful.

The seating is just a bizarre gimmick as far as I'm concerned. Then again, much the same thing can be said about the entire notion of Bill Shatner interviewing people.

Just watched The Shatner interview Leonard Nimoy. This was my first episode watching and I only tuned in to see these two together. This was really different than I was expecting. The conversation was slightly Charlie Rose-ish. This led me to wishing they had the two seated at a table like on that show as opposed to the awkward seating arrangements they have. I wanted them to at least have the two chairs directly facing each other more like in a therapy room at least.

Just caught the Kelsey Grammer and Tim Allen interviews On Demand. It is very interesting that he sits in a loveseat arrangement with them. It seems that the close proximity serves to disarm the guests. He does not pull any punches and asks questions you would never hear Leno or any other "typical" talk show host ask. The depth of the program was surprising to me, I expected it to be a spoof. He manages to keep his ego out of it mostly, and has the guests reveal parts of themselves I hadn't seen before. Good job, Bill!

I have to admit the "love seat" setup is very odd but it does seem to give the show a different flavor. I swear it did look like Judge Judy and Shatner were one degree away from making out. Scary.
