Doomsday is coming! Dude, that was one of the awesomest things in Smallville that has ever awesomed. We knew that Doomsday was coming, but hearing Brainiac say that line, just made it that more awesome. And the fact that Brainiac infected the Fortress just adds to it. Which had to be his end game for erasing Chloe's memories.
This was a good episode. I do have to admit I kind of feel bad for Clark. He loses his ultimate connection to humanity. That's what Chloe was. He still has her friendship, but he doesn't have her to confide in.

It went by way to fast tonight. Jor-El was kinda stupid tonight. Did he not see that coming? SW is just all kinds of adorable. Everything flowed so well tonight, without being pulled out of the moment by shoehorning Nois in. I'm really pissed they took the secret from Chloe. So much of her life WOULD NOT make sense with that information missing.

I don't know what I think about this episode. There are parts of it I really liked (DP flashback scene), but it didn't have the emotional impact I thought it would have.
I'm kind of meh about it. I think it's because PS3 are trying to downplay the Chlark connection. They lose a lot when they do that. I know they can't make Clois nearly as powerful, but do they really have to trash the one relationship that has meaning on the show?

Smallville officially sucks, and Clark sucks even bigger! Chloe is useless now, with no job, no ISIS or computer stuff researching. Is she going to continue her freaks self help group etc now or did she forget that as well. And does she still have her healing powers anyways? This was a just a huge slap in the fans face, another only Lois can know about Clark and his powers push.
Things I did like, Clark and Jor el finally getting along and understanding each other for the first time. And that father ending was great. I have to ask, didn't Jor El sense that Brainiac had spilled out to the fortress during the procedure? Why not bring it up then? Now the fortress is probably going to be destroyed once again for a good cleansing.

Yeah...I've been swearing left and right since the episode ended. The thing that pisses me the fuck off is that this man this jerk called Clark Kent has the balls to go ahead and without soo much of a blink voluntarily removes something that pivitol in Chloe's life...because hey...Chloe's been through a lot.
What about Martha, what about Pete, what about Lana, what about Oliver, why don't you start mind wiping their asses to. Oh that's right, Chloe's expendable because she's not a fucking "iconic" character. She isn't worthy enough. Yeah in the following preview he attempts to put the moves on her moron of a cousin never mind Nois had a PMS meltdown over in the Phantom Zone yet he's going to get himself in a relationship with another idiot who has point blank told him (like Lana) they can't handle being left behind for a hero.
WTF Clark...WTF.
I was expecting something along the lines of Clark being left with no other damn choice to remove the secret, because Chloe's death was imminient or something. Instead he just wants to out of the blue do it?

I hope that if Chloe ever finds out what Clark did, she rips into him. She made it clear to him how she feels about knowing his secret and still he decides unilaterally to remove the memories. Remember when Jor-El took away your powers, Clark? Did that seem like the right thing to do?
Who are these people writing this shit. If there were such a thing as consequences and follow through on SV, I would think this action will be dealt with. However, I don't expect that to happen.

This episode about half worked for me - Chloe's memory being stripped away was creepy and every scene with Davis, who's getting eerier by the moment, worked very well.
But I'm not buying the "fatherly" Jor-El and was unconvinced of the necessity for Clark to excise part of Chloe's memory. (Never liked the Kiss of Lethe for Lois either.)
The Clark/Chloe flashback was just awful, I thought. Don't want to speak ill of child actors but that dialogue plus that wig = campfest of eye-covering proportions.
Great ending. Love Brainiac's make-over of the Fortress!

I agree with what others have said so far, that this episode is just another nail in the Chloe and Clark have a special relationship coffin. What made me forgive this nonsensical progression this season was the possibility that Chloe could dump loser Jimmy and end up with someone hotter and more powerful than Clark - Davis. The fact that someone so fine would appreciate Chloe given that Clark (and Jimmy at times) are repeatedly too stupid to was awesome.
So I don't know if I'm reading into things, but I picked up the suggestion that Brainiac is bringing Chloe and Davis together through some beacon bullshit and it has nothing to do with their individual chemistry. If so? Unforgiveable.

Clark you suck. So he plays God w/a persons memories, great. Is this the Justice Lords version of Clark Kent? Was the writer of this episode Joe Q from Marvel comics?* I hope they correct this b/c her not knowing makes alot of stuff messed up continuity wise, plus he will have to explain to the League and Lana on what he did.
I have to say I was curious on how exactly Doomsday would end up looking, and I'm quite pleased how they decided to go w/it. I figured it would end up being just the actor but he was all invincible and super tough.
*This is reference to the abysmal Spider-Man retcon where nobody knows his secret identity, and in essence mucking up years of continuity that only worked b/c certain people knew his identity.

#2 Doomsday rocks my socks.

I loved this one. It vividly illustrated that Chloe loves Clark in a very nonplatonic way (really, ALL the happiest memories she has of him are kisses!) and that Clark loves Chloe, too, perhaps more than he realized, based on what he said to Jor-El at the end. The effects were surprisingly cool, given the budget problems (I see they stole footage from "Arrival" for the rebuilding of the Fortress, and thank God for that, considering how awful the effects were when the Fortress fell). Also, I really liked the actors cast as Young Clark and Chloe. And the end! Wicked ending!
I did have a couple of issues with the episode. First of all, mind-rape. No, Clark, no. Just say no to mind-rape. But I do think Clark thought he was doing the right thing, and that the writers did a fairly good job showing us the mindset he's been in the past couple of episodes that would lead to such a stupid decision. Also, I think it has to be reversed at some not-too-distant point in the future, and I think Clark will see that it was a stupid decision quite rapidly. So while I'm annoyed at the writers for doing that to Clark's character, I think they handled it about as well as it's possible to handle mind-rape. Which is not intended as a ringing endorsement of the plotline by any means.
Second issue. I did not like the way the issues in the Jor-El/Clark relationship were cast as Clark being not mature enough. No, no, no, writers. You're lightswitching again. The problem wasn't that Clark was immature; the problem was that the AI was a psychotic killing machine who kept trying to get Clark to accept some nebulous destiny that involved taking over the planet, and Clark quite properly resisted. If they'd fixed the AI, instead of trying to lay the blame all on Clark's shoulders, I would have much preferred it.
And the trailer-- bleah. Way to ruin a good episode, promo monkeys. After a whole episode devoted to the intense and longstanding bond between Chlark, I'm supposed to be excited because the next episode rips off the "Tempest" almost-kiss with Cnois? Sorry, not gonna work with me. All this episode did was convince me that Clark loves the hell out of Chloe, and that anything that happens with EDLo is the most shallow sort of rebound imaginable. YMMV, of course, but after this one I'm more convinced Chlark is endgame than ever.

Durq, ITA. The concept was great, but the dialogue was horrifying in a Dawson's Creek-like proportion. But they were even younger. Who EXPOSITS to a 13 YEAR OLD BOY?! The Chlark shattered my heart. It really did. I know it was a hard thing for Clark to do, but man I hate that he did it. I hate it so much. I loved this episode, of course, I think it helped that I was spoiled for it. I knew there would be an issue with Chloe remembering the secret. What did surprise me was that it was Clark's idea. I was sure it was going to be Jor-El's.
I don't think you can have Clark Kent say "I love you", but god, did he ever show it to Chloe. He thinks he's being noble, he's letting her go, and really, when Clark says, "You've save me more times than I've saved you", you and apologizes, and kisses Chloe. I"m sorry, but he loves her.
And you know it's not going to stick, because the ending segments are just so off. Clark needs to understand what it means to have had Chloe as a secret keeper and needs to understand how much her relied on her. Now is his chance. Absence makes the heart grow founder.
There's something stronger in Chlark than anything else in the show.
I thought that reshoot of the Pariah scene was cheesy. I sort of liked the additions to Vessel. Wee!Chlark was cute at first, but really didn't match my idea of 8th graders. They looked more like fifth graders to me. I thought that the kiss was sweet. I have to admit, the way Clark told Lana bout it, it sounded like Chloe has more sass.
A very good episode, minus the doofus move Clark made. He's already regretting it, so I doubt it will last.

Wow, I'm amazed at how utterly dreadful that episode was. Monotonous, disengaging with some terrible acting thrown in. TW was wooden in his first couple of scenes. Allison really overdid the "shifty eye" technique in Clark's loft, and don't get me started on those child actors or the shag carpet on that poor child's head. It wouldn't have been so distracting if that young actress could keep. her. head. still.

Exactly. Two boneheaded moves in two weeks. I don't get "root for Clark and EDLois' epic love!" from this, personally. Overall the episode showed why AM, TW and SW have such great chemistry with each other. This is a triangle that works, and shows why Chlark is the heart of the show.

It's Epic Skankiness, that's what it is, especially for Clark. He's really so fucking shallow to go from pretty much destroying the best thing about his life, to macking on Nois. What did she do, fellate a champagne bottle to warrant this craptastic move on his part? It's not epic, it's ICONIC REBOUND SHITE, that's what it is.
And one more reason to hate the monumental perversion that fucking episode is going to be. Thank GAWD, Nois isn't around after that for a long while, and in the meantime, Clark is back to the triangle with Chlarkana.
Getting over Lana has always been the milestone by which Clark is supposed to grow up and Chloe is going to be the one there not Nois.

Clark's being a BDA aside, I thought this was a good, Chloe-centric episode, and that AM played the hell out of Chloe's terror and confusion. I loved the Chlavis moments and that he cares enough about her well being to help her--even if she doesn't want that help.
I do disagree with this though:
It was pretty clear at the end when Chloe had absolutely no feelings for Davis.
It looked to me as though Chloe had to pull herself away from Davis' kiss and that she wasn't telling him the truth when she said she didn't feel anything for him. I am sure Brainiac has something to do with the intensity of their feelings, but I do think that there is still an attraction between them that is purely Davis and Chloe.
And I was loving that not only was there no EDLois, but that her absence wasn't explained. She just wasn't there--awesome!

Did Clark pretty much admit that his secrecy had ruined Lex's life? He listed Lex on the list of people who his secret had messed up for good, along with others like Bo, Pete, Lana and Lionel. If so, at least the Lex-lovers and Clexers got that little thing.
Allison showed why she is second in the credits tonight for sure. The way she played "terrified and confused about everything" was completely on point, from her looks to her vocal inflections. And Sam continues to dominate like a champion.
Even if they gave us some weak nonsense about the differences Clark and Jor-El have had, they at least understood that Jor-El was not treating Clark lovingly. It wasn't fatherly, it wasn't friendly, it was treating him like an enemy, like Clark said.
The memories thing was awesome; I loved how Chloe's happy memories of Clark were kisses. I think that gives the lie to her claim that she just kisses the closest guy when the world's falling apart, and further, she didn't kiss Davis (on purpose) when she was going nutso. My only regret was that they ripped off Eternal Sunshine so heavily for the memory loss, from the imagery to the hiding in other memories.
Not much to say about Jimmy, but he did well across from SW and TW.
Hmm...Chloe's no longer a secret-keeper/scoobying side-kick...maybe I should take the rest of this paragraph to the Chlois thread?

I haven't felt this happy about a Smallville episode in a long time. The plot moved in a tight, focused way. Allison's acting was brilliant and so moving. I cried because she was so scared and confused. And the moment where she was running through her memories to save her memory of Clark? I died. I'm not even a Chlarker, and I died for that moment of theirs. I don't care if the child actors weren't Oscar winners; they were adorable.
Further, how more epic can you get? Chloe's being taken over by Brainiac, whose ultimate goal is to get Clark to rebuild the Fortress, to save her, so he can make a copy of himself and infect it. When that little Brainy-ball rolled out at the end, I nearly died. It's a villain-a-polooza.
That aside, what kind of person are you to unilaterally decide to wipe away basically the last four years of your best friend's life? This smacks of Shattered. Way to go, Clark. I wish I could be surprised by this behavior of is, but frankly, it's disgusting, and I'm not exactly going to feel sorry for him when it's his fault he's lost his best friend. It really was a massively horrible thing.
Well, that and Jimmy's inappropriate nautical pun-a-thon in the beginning. Wtf.

Okay, first things first: GO DOOMS!! Everything Davis and Doomsday related was fabulous. I adore him. I want him to kill Clark in the most painful way possible, and then have hot angry!sex with Chloe. SW deserves his own show, goddamn it.
Jimmy was, once again, not entirely annoying. It's freaking me out a little.
Jarnelle had a personality transplant. Okay!
Brainiac wins like a winning thing. Hearing JM's voice at the end was fantastic and chilling.
The rest of the episode I had trouble paying attention to. I don't know if it's because I'm not a Chlarker or because it really was just that boring, but aside from the
Vessel scene (which was nifty) none of the flashback bits managed to capture my interest. It felt empty, or something.

I agree, but I do have to agree with whoever said they were too young. My daughter is thirteen. She's five foot nine and, ahem, well rounded. I think those kids looked about ten, especially the girl. I was so scared the whole episode about what Dooms was going to do. Sam Witwer is AMAZING. He scared the living daylights out of me when he appeared in Chloe's memory all in black. He was freaking me out. He knows how to make a scene intense. He delivers. He is a real villain. Every scene, even when he seemed "nice", I was on the edge of my seat, thinking this guy is psycho, what is he going to do next? CREEPY!! There is something about his eyes that looks menacing even when he's acting sweet and all weepy. He makes me uncomfortable, which is what I think I should feel when a villain is in the scene. Good job.
I totally saw that Chloe/Dooms kiss coming and I got nervous what he would do if she rejected him. I didn't predict the "I won't let you go. I'll wait no matter how long it takes" line. I wondered why they put that there, except of course, he doesn't wait at all. He *takes* what he wants.
Allison did a good job, but honestly, she lost the powerhouse moments to those around her. She did a good job being scared and running, but I was more moved by Dooms throughout and Clark at the FOS and in the loft. Even AA/Jimmy had big moments when he realized Clark was the one she trusted, the one she remembered and Chloe wasn't right. The emotions of the men were what came thru I thought. Chloe's feelings had to be deduced bc it still isn't clear how much of her is Chloe and how much is Brainiac.
I did laugh out loud when all three guys were hanging around Chloe. I never thought I'd see a scene like that on Smallville. It reminded me of "The Philadelphia Story" except of course, this wasn't played as a comedy, but it did seem a bit farcical. I loved how they put them all in the same room. Seriously, I am still laughing over it. Chloe has a bevy of men in her life. When it rains, it pours? Whatever the deal, it's great.
The child actors...umm...well, what to say. The lines were super cute, the actors themselves were adorable, but they weren't very good actors. They came across as literally reading lines. They didn't capture the mannerisms of AM/TW/Chlark at all and they didn't seem liook like them enough. We saw them the year after they met. Those child actors were WAAAAY too young looking. They should have chosen some actors who were older and looked a bit more like Chlark S1. And they lost the AMISH line!! That was the best callback of all. Bad cut.
The WALL OF WEIRD!!!! Chloe's natural instinct comes out. What a good idea. Someone remembers who she is.
I liked all Chloe's memories. Nicely edited. I thought it was very romantic that Clark was Chloe's anchor. It was his memory that kept her there and gave her the strength to fight Brainiac. And I liked that Chloe fought to keep them together which made Dooms showing up after Clark was sucked away seem that much more ominous.
The FOS being overtaken by Brainiac was intriguing. Even the FOS has a secret identity this season. heh. I thought they used James Marsters' voice and blended it with TS, it seemed really cool that way. Again, a very good choice and the all black FOS was a good visual.
Clark = BDA!!! He should not have unilaterally taken Chloe's memories. That was *her* choice to make. He had no right. It was disrespectful of her free will and it is obvously a MASSIVE mistake.
The whole episode, I thought they needed MUSIC. Smallville in earlier seasons had such effective music. The absence of it now is very noticeable. I get that it's from budget cuts, but can't they sell product placement time to Sprint or someone and buy a few tunes? Although, this episode, I provided my own soundtrack of
"I will remember you" by Sarah Mc. I'm sure there would have been better choices but that one popped into my head when Chloe said some line about remembering Clark.
The trailer was ok. I knew they would SWF Tempest. It's tacky as hell and makes Clark look freaking shallow as heck. But, I knew they couldn't resist taking another classic Chlark moment since they've been doing it all season and Nois is basically just like Dooms trying to force something that isn't right. The last shot of Dooms hovering over Chloe was shocking but in a good way.
It could have been better, but it was a good one overall I thought.
Also? Clark needs to PAY in a major big way for doing that to Chloe. She better rip into him about it. Disrespectful!
I guess that is what I am left with most. Clark better PAY for this and regret it and apologize for it. They need to show that he is truly sorry he didn't let Chloe choose what to do.
