One more couple is eliminated.
rue bee
America! What are you thinking? Toni so did not deserve to go home.
sussudio
This show makes me mad!

My favorite couple is gone. Boo!

And I can't believe Corky and Chloris is still around!
loveisthedrug
I...have no words. Cloris wasn't even in the bottom two? Horse shit.
tjl
So we're subjected to yet another week of Cloris/Corky. I'm scared to see the group dance now.

I feel kind of bad for Toni/Alec, because C/C should have been gone a long time ago. Who is voting for them?
Carmella
I blame the judges. Just give Cloris and Corky low scores, for Heaven's sake. You gave Master P a combined total of less than 10 once during season 2, so do the same here.
harvestbasket
Cloris wasn't even in the bottom two? Horse shit.
Worth saying again because, WTF? I cannot believe Toni is gone. I gave half of my on line votes and all my phones votes for her. Clorky needs to go away ASAP.

Samantha needs to be sedated backstage. What was with that awful attempt at beatboxing or whatever it was she was doing when talking to Cloris.

They obviously need to pull a Master P on Cloris. Trying to not rile up her fans did nothing. I was hoping Susan was going to go instead of Toni but she has those soap fans.

Michael Flatley? What does he have to do with ballroom dancing? I guess I had my hopes to high hoping for someone like Tony Meredith or someone who actually can judge ballroom dancing.

Though great to see Louis and Karina dance, most of this show seemed devoted to the Macy's Stars of Dance which was okay but not that interesting.
tolliveramc
I really don't mind Cloris' dance routines ... but I do think it's sad that she can't yield the spotlight to four pre-teens for five minutes.

That's all.
yesenializ
America! What are you thinking? Toni so did not deserve to go home.

Seriously. I really liked Toni as well, and thought she had room to grow and go to final four at least. I am very disappointed.
LisaM
I was sure that Lance/Lacey was going home this week.
Binky29
This show is SO rigged. Keep Cloris around for the "drama" she provides, and send home better dancers week after week. (Not saying GREAT dancers, just that they're better than Cloris.)

Was I the only one underwhelmed by the MACY'S ONE HUNDRED FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA!!!!!1!!1!!!? Because it was....just a'ight for me.

The kids that did the paso...wow! I was impressed.
myown
When Lance, Toni, and Susan were left, I realized I didn't really care which one went home. They are not bad dancers; They are just all so blah.
tip and fall
Man, even though I wasn't a fan of Toni and Alec's dances, it's not right that they left before Cloris and Corky. And I don't even have anything against the latter. Corky doesn't bug me that much. But still! Cloris can't dance, period.

I predict the judges will drastically score Cloris lower next week to finally get rid of her. Then again, maybe not. The audience seems to be getting a hoot out of her...

What I find funny is that Toni wasn't really a "shocking" boot, despite her entertainment pedigree and the fact that she was a better dancer than several of the people remaining in the competition. Like, I didn't hear much dismay in the audience, compared to season 5 when Sabrina was kicked off. When it was down to Toni and Susan, I couldn't decide which one would go home. I have to admit that Toni should have stayed over Susan, even though I prefer Susan's personality.
LukewarmJonny
Who is voting for them?

I recall there being a website called "votefortheworst" (I'm not even joking), and while I doubt that it is solely because of them that Cloris is still here, such stupidity can only help...
Lady V
Lots of people really like Cloris, youngin's, oldin's, fans of comedy, people who just are amazed that an 82 year old can still bend and kick and try to keep a beat while being funny too.

Aside from that, I think people are grading on a curve here, and in this case, I don't even know if that bothers me.

It's not just a dance show, it's entertainment, and Toni just wasn't "fun" or exciting. I think her breathing issues were scary. Dang. Bye Alex.

Too bad though, because I really thought she had breakout potential...
ShadowDenizen
Only one word to describe this episode: FILLER-IFIC!!
Seriously, I think there was about 9 minutes of this 60-minute show that mattered. (Especially given that there was a freaking recap show just before the results!!)

That said...

The bad?
I'm surprised that Toni was voted out, especially considering that A) Cloris is still around. (PLEASE, America, let her hang up her dancing shoes already!) and B) the obvious stumble/misstep by Lance and Lacey.

The children dancing. Did we learn NOTHING from "American Idol Juniors"?? (Not to mention that they all seemed a little frightened by Cloris!

The judges ruminating on the perfomances. Did we really NEED this?

And the timing seems really off; WTF is up with announcing the final 6 couples in one jumbled rush 5 minutes before the show ends??

And the good?
An encore by Cody and Julianne; good for them for taking it up a notch! I'm still with Cody FTW! (I can dream, right??)

TOni leaving in a classy and dignified manner, as expeceted. (I'll miss seeing her every week, but I'm glad that she seems to be in good spirits and good shape, and wish her well getting back on the big stage in the future.)
vb68

Yeah, I knew Cloris was staying after she said "skanky ho" and everyone cracked up.

Was I the only one underwhelmed by the MACY'S ONE HUNDRED FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA!!!!!1!!1!!!? Because it was....just a'ight for me.
Same here. All the build up and nothing.

I found Corky the more annoying half until tonight when Cloris could not give up the spotlight for a few minutes to those kids. For that, hating on Clorky equally now.

The kids who did the paso were quite impressive and glad they won. That first kid couple gave off famewhore vibes.
isiscloud
Louis!!!!

Michael Flatley is taking over for Len? Really? Really? I'm not upset that Len is taking a break becasue I do think he needs one, but Michael Flatley?? Sorry.

Toni? She and Alec always get crappy music, this time, too. Carrie Ann also seems to have something against Alec, which hinders her from giving them decent scores.

Again with the padding. Didn't think the special dancing was all that, but always love tapping. Thank god for no musical guest.
GoldenWoman
Wow well this show just hit a new low for me. The fact that Cloris wasn't even in the bottom 2 is just scary. The judges really are to blame for this outcome. Cloris' dance didn't deserve straight 7s. It was such a joke. I hate that she is being graded on a curve just becuase of her freaking age. It's a good thing that Warren and Maurice are still in the competition beucase if they weren't I don't know if I would be tuning in again next week.

ETA: I was thrilled to see Louis and thought the Macy's dance was boring as shit.
sweetpd7
I really don't mind Cloris' dance routines ... but I do think it's sad that she can't yield the spotlight to four pre-teens for five minutes.

Amen! The first two had to say they wanted to dance with Cloris, or they probably thought the crazy old coot would "get" them. I also think it is unfair to pair two dancer couples of varying ages. Last year they had this problem as well. The younger ones would be so darn cute. Then the older couple would come along and be praised for "sophistication" as this time. It isn't a level playing field. For kids, it should be.

I really want to see if Lance improves, but I'm sorry to see Toni go. I wish she had put some more ooomph or charisma in her dances, or that Alec choreographed glitzier numbers for her. It seemed a combination of her not living up to expectation and rather lame choreography.

That said, Cloris is knocking out better dancers. I don't see an end yet to it.

My son said he thinks Len is going on vacation because of the hip hop group dance. He may be right.
zenner
Toni does not have as a dancer what she has as a singer. That is, she is not interesting...as a dancer. She's clenched and dull. Too bad. Nice looking, hard working. Deserved better.
harvestbasket
My son said he thinks Len is going on vacation because of the hip hop group dance. He may be right.
With Cloris participating in that routine, I do not blame Len. But seriously, Michael Flatley? Ridiculous. At least pretend that you still care about ballroom, DWTS. At least the pros care.
The Fame
I'm not really shocked or disappointed that Toni was sent home. She was in the middle of the lower pack, she never had a breakout performance, didn't really have any personality, and she just wasn't very good or enough to be considered a contender. She wasn't bad but she was boring and there. I'm not saying she needed to act like Cloris but she didn't really have an oomph to her either on or off the floor. I expected more from somebody with a performance background.

As long as Susan and Cloris leave I think everything will be in order.
montferrat
Well, that was stupid.
Any week that Cloris doesn't leave and somebody else does, is ridiculous in my opinion. Toni wuz robbed.

A nice fuck you that Lance and Lacey weren't in the bottom two, no matter how hard the judges tried to get them there. Good for L/L. I loathed the judges trying to justify giving them the same score as Cloris.

What I learned from Macy's history of dance:

No white folks danced before the 1980's. And no women of any color will dance until the future. Also, music of the future will sound like "Jam on It".That was a distinctly non-impressive dance routine for me.

And to make this post thoroughly grumpy...the kid dancers bore me to tears.

re: Cloris
I do think it's sad that she can't yield the spotlight to four pre-teens for five minutes.

Truer words have never been typed my friend.
WaltzinSpringTm
Did ABC and the producers get together and decide to mangle the shit out of DWTs this year, over-produce it til it choked? When the HSM promo kicked in I nearly lunged for the remote - I'm not sitting still for this American Idol type shit, I'm not.

Then when they announced the fill in judge, was it someone from the ballroom world? No, it was *&%Q@! Michael fucking Flatley!!!

Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?

Then I'm getting schooled (with the sound off) by more non-ballroomers on dance through the ages.

What the hell is going on? Did DWTs ratings crash last season and this is ABC's desperate attempt to re-juice the franchise? Did they run focus groups leading them to conclude DWTs needed less ballroom, more of the generic "production numbers" we can see on any low rent award show?

Does Len always vote for the losing child dancer couple? Do the children realize now that when Carrie Ann lifts her paddle, the name written there is the winner, no need to go further?

I was happy to see Louis, very happy, but I found him and Karina completely unpersuasive jitterbuggers, especially Karina. They both looked like unconvinced Latin dancers. Poor casting. Karina didn't even look good, and she's looked great all season.

Sorry to see Toni go when I'd much rather see Lance go. I feel guilty admitting I'm fine with Cloris staying for awhile. I'm fascinated watching her get less demented as the season wears on. The longer she stays, the less of that in-the-ether porno granny wackjob I see and the more I see of a sharp and talented actress in full possession of her faculties and pretty physically fit, if not ballroom fit. Corky, on the other hand, is taking the opposite trajectory.

The most drama of the night was the announcement that Cloris was safe. You know that's when everybody else pretty much froze. You could see Susan freeze, even though just her torso was in frame. You could also tell by her clap.
O2Sean
I wish I were surprised.

For weeks now, the judges have all but given Toni, and the viewers at home, the message that she's just not worthy of being there. She doesn't have a story, since she didn't play up her heart condition. She and Alec weren't that great these past few weeks, but they were still better than many of the others. The dancing didn't matter. If it did, then Cody the potted plant wouldn't have gotten the encore.

This show has become about painfully contrived storylines (Lance/Lacey) and mugging and juvenile behavior so annoying that it should be made a crime (Corky, Derek), and LOOK AT ME theatrics (Julianne). Everyone else is simply marking time until they are eliminated.

Maybe it's been this way for a while and I just didn't notice until this season. I'm just glad that Mark left early this time around, because I liked him a lot in both his previous seasons and I think if I had to see him with the Houghs and Corky I'd probably get sick of him too.

I agree. Cloris doesn't bother me half as much as some of the others who are left. I just wish she had a better partner. If she had Jonathan imagine how she could be right now.
Tory
I really don't mind Cloris' dance routines ... but I do think it's sad that she can't yield the spotlight to four pre-teens for five minutes.

No kidding. I'm sick enough of her mugging during her own time, but the consistent butting into other dancers' moments REALLY grates on my nerves. Has there been one show when she hasn't done it? Damn it's getting old. If the audience and fellow dancers would stop encouraging her with their laughter and applause, maybe she would STFU.

Bye, Toni. I really enjoyed you and am glad your heart is in better shape.
harvestbasket
I wish Cloris would pull a Jerry Springer and point out how ridiculous it is that she is staying over stars with more potential. My ideal final 3 is not going to happen nor my ideal final 2. When Susan and Cloris leave, hopefully soon, it should get interesting how the rankings fall after that. I really do not want another all male finals. How I wish Misty was not injured. Poor Alec as well. He deserved better.
PBGamer89
If Brooke doesn't make the finals, and we have generic boring all male finals and have Julianne or Cheryl claim their 3rd trophy while some pros never made the final..

then this is my last season.
Lady V
This season would be kind of boring without at least one personality. They are all a bit too low key, I think that is part of the reason why Cloris is getting so many votes. The rest of the cast doesn't really seem like much fun, apart from some of the pros.

Frankly, if the judges give Cloris 5's or under, the boos and backlash would probably keep her on the show anyway, you just don't pick on great grandmothers, and that is exactly how it would come off.

Erica freakin' Kane is a shy little mouse, Toni was a breathy delicate flower, Lance, even with his "controversial" partner and goth ballroom tricks is boring as hell, Kardashian was a porn-star-but-frigid clumper, it's just not that stellar of a cast this year.

Julianne, Derek, and Kym are bringing the most fun and the best out in their partners. Cloris is entertaining, in spite of dorky Corky, I think she will be around for a while yet.
telly
I missed most of this show except for Toni's boot at the end... Did they explain why Len wasn't going to be there?
spanana
I'm not at all surprised, nor do I do think it was fixed. I'd argue that Toni hasn't been pulling in the votes from the beginning and with an uninspired performance the past few weeks, her time was limited. Throw in Alec who I like, but compared to many of the other pros he's very low key and probably doesn't inspire the fangirly-ness that the Houghs, Maks and/or some of the others bring in.

I would expect we are going to start to see Cloris's scores go down, particularly from Len. But considering he's gone this week who knows.
tip and fall
Okay, I posted earlier that Corky didn't bug me that much. *knock on wood* But I had actually missed the moment when he and Cloris were called safe (I only caught the show when it was more than halfway through). I just saw it and cringed when he started kissing Cloris on the cheek. STOP IT, CORKY.
montferrat
Cloris is entertaining, in spite of dorky Corky,

Eh...one person's entertaining is another person's obnoxious calculating camera hog.
MDKNIGHT
The Paso Doble kids deserved thier win. I forsee them as pros on season 25. Because I'm convinced this show will go on and on until celebrity cyborgs are on it.

I can hear the nashing of teeth and wailing in sorrow from here of people upset Cloris not only continues, but managed to leapfrog over Susan and Tony. I can only guess that the people horrified by the idea of Cloris Hip Hopping were outnumbered by the number of people who want to see an octagenarian dress up like Run DMC or something. I have to confess I am kind of curious to see it too, as let's face it, there isn't much chance of seeing something like that happen ever again. I can't think of anybody else that old in show business even, much less one who can still move at all.

I feel sad for Susan because I know she tries so hard and expects a lot from herself.

I feel bad for Toni but this is just another example of bad but interesting, winning over competent but dull.
Lady V
Does Len always vote for the losing child dancer couple? Do the children realize now that when Carrie Ann lifts her paddle, the name written there is the winner, no need to go further?

Len is the most respected judge, so I think it's their way of softening the blow. "Yeah, we lost, but the only judge who really knows ballroom rated us in 1st place!" I think it's kind of sweet.
A nice fuck you that Lance and Lacey weren't in the bottom two, no matter how hard the judges tried to get them there.

I think that is exactly why they are still there actually. Vote backlash keeping them in it.
The Fame
It's not like Toni was a contender. I'm fine with her leaving, it's not even really a blip on my radar.

Would she have ever come out with a breakout performance? Who knows. But I still think she would be lacking in the personality department so she wouldn't have won anyway. The only ones who are able to get away with no personality are very good dancers like Kristi.
Abra
This whole show tonight was one big Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

This is not the first time I’ve uttered the words “You have got to be fucking kidding me” during elimination night, but tonight’s had the most feeling when spoken after Cloris and Corky were declared safe yet again. And not even in the bottom two! But then I figured maybe it would be someone else who wasn’t really shining as a dancer and I didn’t think they really would in the future (meaning Susan). But no, we lost Toni (and Alec!). And I feel bad as I didn’t vote for her as I figured she had enough of a fan base brought in to save her. The horror. I didn’t watch Season 5 so I didn’t personally suffer through the Marie horror week after week, but I have the feeling I’m about to with Cloris. Toni really did look disappointed, despite saying she’d reached her goal.

Wasn’t really overly impressed with the dancing through the years thing or whatever that Rich & Tone deal was, except for the 1980’s (!), which was awesome. Because it was the ‘80’s. Which was indeed awesome.

And what the hell does Riverdance Man have to do with judging ballroom dance?

Also, this is the first time I was not won over by both of the kids couples performing. The winning couple was…not impressive. And the girl – she had no neck. And I think she really might have a medical condition affecting her upper body posture rather markedly. Or she really needs to take ballet like the first girl. I feel bad for saying such things about kids, but the first kid couple should have moved on.

The Brian Setzer song seemed almost too fast for Louis and Karina, to my surprise. And I couldn’t help but be distracted by her low-heeled shoes for some reason.

I’m just really disappointed in tonight and what's to come.
Uncle Chuck
Then when they announced the fill in judge, was it someone from the ballroom world? No, it was *&%Q@! Michael fucking Flatley!!!

It could have been worse...Famous choreographer, dancer, singer and judge--Paula Abdul! That would have been a hoot.
Or to replace the curmudgeonly Brit--Piers Morgan or...HORRORS!...Simon Cowell...

I have no words to explain Cloris...I am hoping that when she is forced to learn and perform two dances per week, she will just suck so bad that not even pity votes or sad attempts at comedy can save her.
WaltzinSpringTm
Lady V, I agree with you re why Cloris is sticking around. Hell, I admit that's why *I* want her to stick around. I always edit out a lot of the show so I miss some of her silliness. In general, I think she's got charisma and that's lacking with the others. Even the bigger personalities don't come into focus as they ought.

Carrie Ann told Susan it was like Susan was dancing inside a glass box - I get what she was going for, but I find the presence of most of these celeb dancers pretty muted. And the personalities of the pros are getting on my nerves because they have more charisma and oomph than their celeb partners, only not in a way that's good for the show, IMO, if that makes sense. Julianne did a nice job with Cody but in post-performance interviews and the confessional she is grating on me. I think Bruno got it right about Lance - he needs to start taking control. Right now he seems content to be in the shadows of the Lacey show. He's not learning to dance. He's not getting attention. It's her arc. He needs to rebel.

If, as much as the dancing, Maurice shows me the personality he showed in rehearsal last night, I'll consider him a bright spot. If Warren gets his energy back - and I think he will - I'll count on him as well. Damn, I miss Misty May.
mtlchickie
Ok, what's worse: Michael Flatley as the guest judge or Cloris "doing" hip hop?

I get it America. You're going through a stressful time with the economy and the election, and you need to find humor somewhere. However voting for Cloris? I fail to see the humor.

Too bad for Toni as I did like her, but she was getting a bit too bland.
Tabby Cat
I loathed the judges trying to justify giving them the same score as Cloris.

I totally agree with this, I could not believe that they actually said that. As so many others have already said, Cloris and Corky are being way overscored, and there is no justification for it, none whatsoever. Such a shame that the lovely Toni is gone, and we are subjected to another week of Cloris. I just do not find her funny, their "dances" are embarrassing, and the scores are just unfair to the rest of the cast. And I also agree that Cloris should have kept her butt in her seat and let those kids have their moment, they deserved it.

Really happy that Lance and Lacey were safe, I really like those two. I do think that Lance is capable of doing much better and I'd like to see him get a chance to do so.
Lady V
Cloris is entertaining, in spite of dorky Corky,

Eh...one person's entertaining is another person's obnoxious calculating camera hog.

I think a lot of people find her entertaining, which is why she is still there. She bugged the hell out of me the first couple of weeks, but then I kind of turned around about her when she insisted that Corky let her dance and do the steps, saying she didn't want to be a joke, and she wanted to try and do it right.

I think Cloris is getting votes even though her pro is obnoxious.

I also think the "camera hog" thing is more of an old pro attitude. You keep things interesting, and I think Cloris looks at the whole thing a bit differently than the rest of this very low-key cast. She is treating it more like an ensemble "putting on a show" thing--and I really think she would probably welcome other dancers or pros jumping in on "her" time, as long as they were funny, or trying to be. I just get the feeling it's not so much "camera-hogging" as seeing that it's a bit too tense, and not fun enough this year. She's a comedienne, probably figures that's why she was hired, and is doing her "job."

I would still never vote for her, but I do understand why there are so many people doing so. That, and she was bottom two last week, and I am sure that got her "fans" up and voting. She has more energy than many of the other stars 1/4th her age.
GoldenWoman
The group dance rehearsal better be f*cking hillarious! I want to see some of the pros look like major dorks next week. Also Michael Flatley? When the hell did he become popular again?
O2Sean
Eh...one person's entertaining is another person's obnoxious calculating camera hog.

Unfortunately I think DWTS now classifies entertaining as obnoxious, calculating camera hog. I was very annoyed by Cloris early on, but she's more restrained now. Meanwhile some of the other couples are becoming more and more OTT and desperate, and the judges only encourage them further. If I have to sit through that I may as well see it from her. If this season keeps rewarding the worst dancers, then I might even start voting for Cloris, because she's not any worse than some of those who get 9s and 10s.

I also can't get upset if she gets in the way when the kids are onscreen. Why are these kids on the show season after season? I don't watch DWTS to see children dancing dances that they don't understand and having to be judged on national TV. I find this uncomfortable to watch, and it seems to go on forever.
Binky29
but then I kind of turned around about [Cloris] when she insisted that Corky let her dance and do the steps, saying she didn't want to be a joke, and she wanted to try and do it right.

I seriously must've missed her telling him that. *shrugs* Probably flipping between DWTS & The Axis of Evil on The Biggest Loser. But I digress.

So Cloris told Corky she wanted to do the steps & not be a joke. Then WHO'S IDEA is all the humping, fart-sniffing, and boob grabbing? Because it makes Corky look like a pervert and Cloris like an old fool. And I guess if she went out there and tried, really tried, every week like she did with her tango, I'd find it easier to respect her. The camera hogging is whatever to me, (well except for with the kids tonight, that seriously bugged! I wanted to hear that little girl say she wanted to dance with Warren! TOO cute!) but the sexual/bathroom-humor antics on the dance floor are gross, and need to leave my tv screen PRONTO.
Eniarrol006
I was really hoping Susan would go home. She's by no means bad, but in comparison to the others (save for Cloris), she's not as strong. I'm going to miss Toni, she had a lot of room for growth.
spicegurrl
That first kid couple gave off famewhore vibes.

Ugh, no kidding. Those mini-famewhores were creepy as hell. Kids that age should not be so obsessed with being famous. It makes you wonder about their parents. They must be fanatic stage-mothers. I'm glad they lost. As soon as they bragged that they only danced to fulfill their famewhore aspirations, I wanted them gone. Oh, and that little girl had a major bitchface going on when they lost. I shudder to imagine what she'll be like in 10 years.
isiscloud
If she had Jonathan imagine how she could be right now.

Seeing Louis made me wish he was her partner. I miss him.

Thankfully, I missed the kids. I don't mind them during the video intros, but the dancing is just too creepy.
