The show premieres this tuesday at 10pm on the Versus Network so I thought i'd start a thread for it so we can all discuss the show. The host ofcourse is Matt Iseman and here's a link to the show's section on the versus network's website. http://www.versus.com/sportssoup Here's Matt on NBC's 'Last Call With Carson Daly' promoting the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGbIFJOgUfU

Final reminder to watch tonight at 10PM.

I thought it was pretty good. Sure, some of clips were kind of blah but it is definitely in the same spirit of "the Mothership" (aka Regular Soup). I remember not getting into The Soup when it first premiered as "The What The... Awards", so its good to see that Sports Soup has footing on that front. Plus I really liked the many different segment intros. :)

Final Verdict: I approve.

Not as good as I hoped, not as bad as I feared. I'll keep watching.

Twice a week is gonna be too often. The Soup has all of TV and the internet to draw on and just fills one episode.

It was pretty hit-or-miss, but I'll cut it quite a bit of slack since it's just getting started. I agree that once a week would probably be enough.

The "highlight" was the guy taking the bite out of the shark's heart. And what became of the two skydivers who collided in midair?

I was flipping channels and came across this show. It was okay. It seemed more to me like an advertisement for Versus and all the programming that they air. I'll tune in again if I'm bored.

Caught this show on a rerun and liked it a lot. Matt Eisman is really funny and the clips were strong, but the show kind dragged on after awhile. Definitely a good match for all the random programming on VS. Looking forward to Thursday.

Yeah I was surprised that they had limited commercial interruption I mean they didn't go to commercial until like 20 minutes into the show and when they came back they finished the rest.

I like it so far. I'll reserve judgement because The Soup started out a little slow as well (as the What The? awards).

That Heisman campaign ad was hilarious. Can you imagine T.O. or Ocho Cinco coming out with an ad for MVP?

I was about to say there were a lot of bumps, but the Soup has those too, I guess.

ETA:

nflux, i soo did not pay attention to what you wrote.

I caught a re-run and liked it. It has the same style humor as the Soup, and I love the topic..Sports. Mmmm. One of the writers, Courtney Cronin, is a good friend of my brother and somebody I've done stand-up with, so I'm hoping it does well.

Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors campaigned (successfully) for a spot on the NBA's Eastern Conference All-Star Team via a You-Tube campaign.

Watching the Soup tonight and who should appear but Matt Eisman! And then right after was an episode of Sports Soup! Obviously they're produced by the same company but I wasn't expecting such blatant self-promotion. It's not as good as the Soup but the clips were great and Matt is really good. My husband liked it more than me but I'm not that into Sports except the Cubs so I don't have much to get excited about.

E! showed the 4th ep, for the record. I think #3 has been the strongest, but the show's coming together pretty well. Not to the level of the original yet, but still worth a season pass.

Here's the clip of Matt's appearance on the original soup show pimping his show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc5C2YoUA8Q

I saw a little bit of this show again today and the last 5-6 jokes of the episode all fell flat. Yikes. It was actually a little uncomfortable to watch.

My praise may have been premature. Cut it to once a week, guys. There's just not enough good material out there.
Jay6385
I'm so glad they created a segment for charles barkley.
Jay6385
Wow it's been months since I last posted here but for those who don't know Sports Soup now only has new episodes every tuesday night at 10pm on versus which happens to be tonight.
Split Ends
I haven't tried to watch this in forever, but now that my husband is indoctrinating the house with constant SportsCenter, I figured it'd try again. And of all the luck, Mike Tyson!!! I've got the documentary waiting!

I loved the Phil Collins vs. Genesis moment. And "hey there, buddy." I'm still not a big fan of Matt Iseman.

But I did not at all need to see Andre Smith's gooey jiggling has-he-breastfed-three-children? manboobs again. That needs a "things you can't unsee" tag on it.

I think "Sports Soup" is starting to hit it's stride. I have watched some recents shows and found myself laughing really hard.

Matt Iseman seems to be finding his groove as well. He has the same goofy charm as your friend's dad who cracks corny jokes. The one thing that distracts me (I am not even that particular a person either) is the way his arms just hang at his sides as he sways back and forth while talking.
