I think everyone knew where the votes were going to lay when this was over, so Rocco being booted was a not a shock. However, Bruno moving those hips with Rocco was both so wrong and yet so right. Au revoir Chef!
BTW show...didn't like the "slander" ads just for the lack of funny. Ok, maybe I enjoyed the one for Cloris more than I should.

Not surprised Rocco left, but with a tamer Cloris, Corky's mugging is beyond annoying. It was already awful but with her quieter, he just looked silly tonight. Obviously Mark and Derek got their mugging from Corky.
I was surprised that Lance got the encore. When I watched it, all I thought was Wade Robeson does the tango.
Both of the ballroom kids were adorable and I wish they just let them dance and not make it into a competition.
BTW, producers, don't just tell us about the four new dances. Would it kill them to have a pro demo. Len already told us they are not looking for technique next week. Thanks for the warning.
My favorite ad? The Cody ad is a baby ad. The shots of him were hilarious and loved Julianne pushing him down and calling him a wuss.

I wish they hadn't brought the dancing kids back. I don't think they should have to judge them, I don't enjoy seeing kids losing on national TV, and I don't enjoy seeing kids doing dances that have meanings they can't understand.
I also didn't like the melisma-mad musical guest, or the dancing paso brigade. Were they in sync? They just seemed to be stomping around and occasionally pinching their nipples. If they're going to go for the thrills, couldn't they have taken off the pants too?
Can't say I'm sad to see Rocco go. He was given many chances and never progressed. If he wanted to be seen as a sweetheart, he got his wish, now he can go appear on some other show with his mother. The only good thing I can say I got from him this season was that he got Bruno to give us some good pelvic thrusting.
I liked the anti-Brooke and anti-Cloris ads, they were very funny. The rest were forgettable, except for the attack ad against Cody (He's a baby, not a man), which actually seemed to be true.
I'm glad Toni and Alec were safe, I was very nervous for them. I think next week is going to be very hard for them.

I for one hope that Lacey does get WCS. As has been said, it's no more unfair for her to get it than it is for Karina to be competing against every one of the other female pros in Latin. At least if she gets WCS we can hope for a good routine, a large part of that will depend on Lance and his feet but we can always hold out hope. I pity whomever gets Hustle.

I actually thought Susan Lucci's attack ad was the funniest of the bunch. Clever use of ridiculous soap opera storylines past to slander her.
I feel bad for Rocco. Hopefully his exit means Cloris goes next. It's time, America. Quit encouraging her.

Of course the week they tell us the B2, it doesn't tell us anything. It's no surprise Rocco and Cloris were the B2. The real shock is going to be who is pulling the least votes after that because I really have no idea.
I like the dancing kids, just not the competition aspect of the whole deal.

What was up with Bruno humping on Rocco's leg at the end? Must be the pink chiffon muscle shirt. Such a turn on!
Holy Jon Benet Ramsey! Those little kids were creepy and gross. Were they trying to appeal to the pedophiles in the audience? Ick, ick, ick. I bet there were a pack of nutso stage mothers with wire hangers waiting behind the curtains too. Eww...
I liked the pack of burly shirtless men. They can stay. More of them, please.
So glad Lance ditched the eye line tonight. The encore was even better.

I also can't stand Corky's mugging. Just when Cloris is settling down, you got Corky who's pretty bad.
Did you see Julianne covering her face with her hands when Rocco and Bruno were dancing? I thought that was hilarious.
Ever since I heard Karina's ET interview about Rocco wanting the pink fluffy dress (?), I wonder if Rocco is gay. Dancing with Bruno and their long hug further made me question him. Just wondering...

Rocco going home was no surprise and I like Cloris's dance last night. I have always enjoyed the dancing kids. Like others I wish they would take out the competition aspect.

Favorite moments tonight:
-Cody is a baby
-Susan Lucci uttering the words "I am a filthy beast"
-Rocco & Bruno dancing just a lil too close before Bruno catches himself and backs away. Those 2 seconds were the hottest thing I've seen so far this season (and possibly at all!)
I'm sorry to see Rocco go, but it was going to happen soon anyway.
Complete word to O2Sean for recognizing that those Spanish (Mexican? Hispanic? What's the term here?) Riverdancers were NOT. GOOD. As you say, stomping around and pinching their own nips does not constitute "good dancing". (Also? They must single-handedly keep the chest waxing industry alive.)

LOVED the political ads, especially anti-Warren and anti-Cloris. "Paid for by the accounting department" for Cloris's ad...ha! I also think that anti-Rocco was only as funny as it was because it was "paid for" by Warren. Although, did anyone notice that in the pro-Lance ad, it read "Lass Bass"?
Liked the first set of dancers (mama mia shirtless guys!) and Ne-Yo did pretty well.
The junior dancers...meh. They were all good, but I didn't think they were as good as the junior couple who won from last season.
I totally called that it would be Rocco going home. Considering he would have been the one going home last week and the judges' scores for him were lower than with Cloris this week, I'm totally not surprised. But I don't think Clorky is for long in this competition.
I could totally tell that Lancey was doing the encore...even though they were all dressed up in their costumes from last night, Lancey appeared to be the only couple significantly made up in the face and hair. Even Maurice and Cheryl did not have the wigs they wore last night.

No surprise that Rocco went down. Cloris is this season’s Marissa (people are voting to keep her for reasons that have nothing to do with her dancing). I suspect we’ll see Cloris for a few more weeks.

Lancey is second on the leaderboard. If Lance starts dancing better, I'm willing to look over Lacey's mugging. I have a feeling they are going to be here for the long run which is fine. As long as Cloris does not stay as long as Marissa did last season.
Seriously Corky, Cloris has finally calmed down and now you are taking it up another notch. Yuck.
I also found Susan's ad hilarious and Rocco's was funny only because it was paid for by Warren.
I have heard Rocco might be gay rumors and after his moment with Bruno, I am with sussudio.

My favorite part of the show was they called Susan safe first. I thought that was so nice. She has really been a class act and you can truly see her anxiety all over her face during the results, which is endearing for such a major soap star. She honestly thinks she can go out any time. I think Tony has gotten to like her. I bet he figured "been there, done that" with her and was sort of going through the motions at first but now I think he appreciates her. You know how there are really nice people who have this tension underneath and are a little brittle? I think Susan is a little brittle on the surface and really genuine underneath.
Question, were the winners of the kids' dance off the older pair?

-Rocco & Bruno dancing just a lil too close before Bruno catches himself and backs away. Those 2 seconds were the hottest thing I've seen so far this season (and possibly at all!)
I didn't notice the dancing, but I'll have to watch that part again. After all the dreary showmances over the years, some close contact between Bruno and Rocco would be a nice change (although I doubt it was anything).
Lancey is second on the leaderboard. If Lance starts dancing better, I'm willing to look over Lacey's mugging. I have a feeling they are going to be here for the long run which is fine.
I hope they'll be better than they were in that encore. It was very heavy-footed and very overly stylized instead of doing dancing. They also reminded me of a Thriller knockoff.
Cloris is this season’s Marissa (people are voting to keep her for reasons that have nothing to do with her dancing).
I think Cody is this season's Marissa. Cloris is probably on her way out. The only one I can see her outlasting is Toni or Maurice.

I didn't even know what they were supposed to be doing. They seemed lost. The only part I remember is the nipple-rubbing.

I was surprised that Lance got the encore. When I watched it, all I thought was Wade Robeson does the tango.
Yeah, I thought aspects of Lacey's choreography were heavily inspired by Wade's Rama Lama Bang Bang dance. I was surprised he got the encore, too. Their dances lack nuance for me. If they continue to stick around I hope he develops better musicality.
I for one hope that Lacey does get WCS. As has been said, it's no more unfair for her to get it than it is for Karina to be competing against every one of the other female pros in Latin.
I'm not completely familiar with the training and history of each pro, but I assume the other female pros have at least some experience in Latin, whereas not everyone would have experience with WCS -- or is WCS more widely taught and competed in than I thought? I'm from Australia, and admittedly don't know much about the WCS world.

Thanks for answering my question about which kid couple won, harvestbasket. Tonight a theory occurred to me that the oldest kid dancer pair wins on DWTs. It might be more humiliating for an older pair to lose to the younger and that's why they do it. Also, it's usually a 2-1, not unanimous in these early rounds, which can't be an accident either, with Len (the most respected judge) often holding up the paddle for the loser. I feel like DWTs is building some safety nets in for these kids' morale. Sure they're accustomed to competition, but the element of being on DWTs, and the added fantasies and excitement and dreams that have to go along with that - they can't help it - could set them up for unusual disappointment. I hope I'm right. I've actually preferred a couple of younger pairs that have lost.
Not impressed by the flamenco dancers. Not the dancing, and not the eye candy part either. The eye candy was difficult to find.
Again with Tom belaboring to Len that Len is wanting Brooke to put on more clothes. I say belaboring, because as I've said before, these are the jokes, but Tom does have that side to him that I think goes beyond, just a tad, host going for the jokes.
I am SUPER suspicious that next week's dances are dances unfamiliar to most pros but Lacey. Come on with that, DWTs. And not judging on technique? Lovely.

Lacey is familiar with WCS and has danced a lindy and hustle once on SYTYCD, I wouldn't exactly call them her wheelhouse dances. I'm willing to bet that most of the pros have had at least some exposure to those dances, and if they haven't, well they are pros for a reason and should be able to pick things up. After all they expect the celebs to learn a new style and routine in a week. As professionals they should be expected to do no less.

What Len should have said is, "We'll judge you on technique if you're not one of our favorites, and if we do, then we won't judge you on technique." That's how it's always been.
I think Brooke and Derek will probably be better at the hustle or WCS than Lacey and Lance. I don't want to imagine any of these people doing a lindy hop.

Lance is familiar with Wade from his 'Nsync days. Their tango was very similar to Wade's ramalama.
I usually like the younger kid pair and I noticed Len usually is the one who is that lone vote. I guess it is their way to make losing easier.
Corky said he knows all four of those dances like the back of his hand. They should just start allowing lifts this season like last season. There were similar comments about the season being underwhelming and boring, etc. at this time last season. Not that adding lifts will make it that much entertaining, but that is a change I could appreciate and want on this show. I also hope the eventual group dance is better than the hot mess that was last year's dance. Please go back to ballroom dances!
I just want Cloris and muggy Corky off my screen this week so we can see where the other stars are ranking.
Is there lindy hop next week? I thought it was jitterbug, salsa, hustle and WCS.

With 8 couples next week, each of the 4 new styles will be danced by 2 couples. It's the logical way. There won't be like 3 hustles, 1 jitterbug, 2 salsas and 2 west coast swings. I also this with 4 women and 4 men, it'll go like 1 salsa for man, 1 salsa for woman, 1 hustle for man, 1 hustle for woman, etc
My prediction for next week's dances:
Salsa- Maurice and Brooke
Hustle- Warren and Susan
Jitterbug- Cloris and Cody
WCS- Lance and Toni

I agree GoldenWoman, no pro dance is the worst part of the show tonight. I would have preferred if they showed a demo of the four dances by specialists over the flamenco dancers.

The results show is soo padded that it drives me crazy.
The kids creep me out, too.
Kind pisses me off that Lance & Lacey get WCS. It's her specialty and it seems like it's just a little too coincidental that they're thowing it in the season she's on. Cloris shouldn't be doing any of the new dances. I don't want to see her hurt!

Why the hell are Clorky still here? It should have been Cloris gone this week, and then Rocco next. And those bastard producers stuck them under the evil red light of "you suck" for most of the show, knowing they were the ones to be booted off. Poor Rocco with his prepared speech.
The "Chippendales Do Flamenco" performance should have been better, don't you think?
Ne-Yo wasn't bad. I agree they should just let those poor kids dance, instead of making it a competition. I wanted to smack Samantha for just dismissing the losing kid couple after the judges revealed who was moving on in that competition.

I couldn't believe how dreadful Los Vivancos were, so I went looking for a review, and found this corker at the New York times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/09/arts/dance/09rive.htmlHowever, each Vivancos seemed to this observer to be delivering the same extended proclamation, as follows: “Just look how I brood, how I smolder, how I frown, how I suffer. Am I not gorgeous? I am even more gorgeous than my brothers. See how I drum my heels into the floor; see how I sweat; I am a real man. Applaud me!
As for the rest of the show...predictable was the defining characteristic of the night.

Did enjoy some of those "ads" tonight, but wondered why Susan Lucci said "I'm Erica Kane and I approved..." instead of saying "Susan Lucci."
I can't say I hated the flamenco dancers, but what I enjoyed had little to do with their dancing. Was it just me or did the noise of their shoes on the floor seem out of synch with their movements at the time?
At this point, I'm more anxious to get rid of Cloris/Corky just so Corky will no longer be on my TV screen, rather than Cloris. Yikes, he's weird!
My only experience with Rocco prior to DWtS was his brief stint during the celebrity auction during the first season of The Apprentice, so I have no idea who the real Rocco is. But I'll miss the one who was on DWtS. That was one of the loveliest, most gracious and most fun exits of any of the seasons of DWtS.

“I am such a stud, and so moody; I am on fire for you. Yes, these spotlights show how fast my knees tremble while I tap my feet: what could be more exciting? Look! I just did four pirouettes while falling off balance. I do big ballet jumps too — I can quote phrases from the ballet ‘Don Quixote’ — and all to get you going. And so what if I don’t straighten my legs? I am much too unbelievably virile for that. Do you like these short shirts we wear and the way they ride up to show our stomachs? Applaud me!
“Yes, you guessed it, now we start to remove our clothing, for you alone. Look at these arms, these shoulders, these gleaming abs, so chiseled, so desirable: what men we are, and how completely handsome. Now I rotate my wrists — so glamorous, such true flamenco — and I let you admire my pecs almost as much as you want.
That review was a hell of a lot more entertaining than they were. Did they add the nipple pinching for DWTS? What a treat. Give me Bruno's hip action anyday.

I think I liked tonight's result show more than most. I usually wander away from the TV a lot for this part of DWTS and tonight I didn't. The campaign ads were fresh and fun. I like the kids, but I wish they wouldn't make a competition of it. I see a lot of people not so keen on Los Vivancos, but I'll take them. Did Tom say they were brothers? I'd say Lacey is a little more than "familiar" with WCS. She practically came out the womb WCS dancing.
(There's an earlier video somewhere of her in a lion costume dancing WCS around age 4, can't find it though)
example 1example 2So it's clearly in her wheelhouse and she'll definitely get it so they can show off the dance style. I'm really hoping the routine ends up good because I loves me some WCS, but the real question is can Lance pull it off well enough?
Now that Rocco's out, Lance is the only dancer I care to see. Warren's feet are the only things that really move, Brooke "does the hips", but is pretty blank faced while dancing alternating between open mouth and "just smile!", and everyone else is pretty meh to me.

What a bore of a show. It was worse than usual. I liked some of the "negative campaign ads" but the show was clearly aching to fill time.
The musical guest was a big zero. The flamenco-lite brothers were a non-starter.
Why aren't we getting any pro demos anymore? I miss them so much! They make a point of mentioning the 4 new dance styles and then nothing. I would have loved a fusion of WCS into Hustle into Jitterbug into Salsa. But no, that would be too enjoyable and entertaining.

Apparently it has roots in the Mambo and takes some elements from Swing dancing. Translation: it's a stretch.

I have to agree with several previous posts regarding the seven men pulling off the biggest crime on national television. A true waste of time. As I posted on another message board, they were basically River Dance on Paella.
Lots of stomping and hands thrown into the air. And how many times before and after the commercial break, once they began stomping, and while they stomped before losing the jackets did they pose to reveal their bellies? I saw one brother with a six-pack, not six-pack abs.
Somewhere, Michael Flatley is downing a pint, and getting pished!

I would have loved a fusion of WCS into Hustle into Jitterbug into Salsa.
I'm virtually certain there isn't a single song that'd allow you to do anymore than two of those without changing songs.
They might not all be "cousins to Latin", but they are all "street dances" from a ballroom dancer's perspective (even though virtually all of them have highly developed worlds of teaching and competition).
Saying Lacey's familiar with WCS is like saying Louis is familiar with samba. However, it should be fun to watch because these aren't dances the pros know as well as the normal ballroom dances (and have different feels/forms than most ballroom). Authentic salsa is pretty different from ballroom dancers doing salsa. Same with hustle and WCS. And I have no idea what they mean by "jitterbug". Though I guarantee neither the music nor the dancers will swing.
