From Zap2it:
Tess and her team perform tests on the crystal she retrieved from the Arctic, causing it to send a beam of light into the universe; the beam of light triggers the arrival of Maxima, a queen from another planet looking for her soul mate.
Last Time Lord
That was weird. It was like the Super Happy Fun SexiTime Show. I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Nat0117
Wow. One word: HORSESHIT.

Maxima reveals that Clois are men2b?!!!

Jimmy makes out with a hot chick and he’s exused WHY?

This episode just gives new meaning to the Clark Kent: Manwhore theory.

Nois is a vulgar skank.

I hate this show. Really, why did they even bother getting Allison back? They’ve ruined, beyond any possible repair, her entire character and everything about it. Jimmy is the perfect man?

Wow. So that’s that. Nail, meet coffin. My Chlark heart is broken. Fuck you, PS3. And with that, I’m out, SV. Thanks for 7+ years of waiting for nothing.
Durq
I'm no 'shipper ….but Chloe earnestly explaining that loving Clark taught her how to love her "perfect man" was pretty damn icky.

The funniest thing in this episode was that big clunky dollar-store diamond crystal. Second funniest was Tess asking Clark: "You spent a lot of time with Lex….did you ever see him with it?" Hey, it didn't match any of Lex's pretty outfits!

In the interests of dramatic symmetry, I was hoping Clark would produce a "Fever" letter of his own to read to Jimmy: "I'm the boy of your dreams but you just don't know it yet …" and so forth."

Gonna complain about this one more time: it's a crime how this show wastes Aaron Ashmore, who is charming and funny, by insisting on portraying Jimmy as perpetually whiny and jealous. Jimmy is supposed to be comic relief; he's supposed to take photos and pal around with Clark.

Clark urging Shelby to eat "Go ahead! C'mon." was terribly cute and sounded like a Tom-improv.

"Not here!" Love that Maxima thinks that elevator sex is classier than desk sex.

And unexpectedly, the LesYay line of the night goes to Clark, asking Tess about Maxima: "Up to now, she's only attacked men…I wonder why she'd be after you."

The anvils were a'fallin' tonight, "There is nothing romantic about Lois & Clark"

I recognized the actress who played Maxima from M.V.P where she played a deranged chick who stalked one of the hockey players. Good casting.

Line of the night:

Lois: "Smallville, you're about as predictable as a mullett at a NASCAR race" BWAH!

So.................who is 'X'???
RedKRules
Me too finally!!!!
wirebiter
I hate this show and I hate Lois. I will never except Superman falling for a boss fucking, stupid bitch. Bond my ass.

And Jimmy is such a dog. He was going to flirt with whatever pretty girl happened to be behind him. He just ended up biting off more than he could chew. Chloe deserves soooo much better

The only good part....X

Ditto. 7+ years with not only no pay off but a huge FU! with this light switched Clois bullshit? I am done, done, DONE.
Adele613
Wow. What an amazingly huge pile of crap!

I don't understand Lois' sudden "OMGJEALOUSY" of Clark/Maxima. I don't understand Maxima saying that they're ment2b.

But what I really don't understand?

How they can take the one thing that Chlark fans have been talking about since it first appeared, Chloe's letter to Clark, and handle it so poorly. They took it, waved it in front of the fans, and tore it into a million tiny little pieces. Then threw it into a fire. They really screwed up on that one.
Firebunny
Where to begin?

Well, for one I wish they had never brought the Fever letter back. It was there to appease the fans who have been watching the show since the beginning, but everything else they're doing pretty much shows that they don't give a shit about the long time, loyal fans. They will take everything they've built up for the past seven years and they will throw it away by forcing something that they have spent no time on. Well, now they've thrown the Fever letter away as well. Thanks for that. And fuck you.

Hey Smallville writers, here's a clue. Try earning something. Try setting up something and paying it off. You had how many seasons to create a relationship between Clark and Lois? You chose not to do that. You can't suddenly have some magic connection between them when it hasn't been there before. Having another character tell us it's there, relying too much on the ending we know is coming doesn't work. To write a satisfying show you have to set things up. And I'm sorry, but you've got an uphill battle because you ignored it for years and you have two actors who cannot connect with each other. Good luck making that work.
Powrhug
I've never been someone who's prone to getting mad about a show. But at the end of tonight's episode, I felt like I wanted to be violent with someone or some thing. Or be violently ill. Take your pick.

This after literally laughing out loud when they revealed (in her little speach) that the only reason for Maxima being on the show was to show us just how "meant to be" Lois and Clark are. Thanks. I could have gotten that by how you've rewritten Smallville this season. I didn't need an alien to come spell it out for me.

And don't get me started on The Letter. I only hope that was Brainiac talking instead of Chloe because damn. They just basically tore up The Letter and threw it in all of the Chlarkers faces, didn't they? So much for the big payoff with that.

I've never in my life felt this disheartened after watching a show I previously adored.

Not sure how much more of this I can stomach. This is totally not the show I fell in love with. Iconic? Yeah, whatever.
jediknight
Awesome to see the return of Shelby. So many episodes need Shelby. Also it was good to see Clark rush back to feed Shelby. I did cringe when Clark found Lana's necklace. But at least Clark remembered to feed Shelby.

Maxima was hot. That's all I can really say about her. Also I hope we see her again.

I do like that they're not dropping the Chloe Brainiac thing. It would be the Smallville thing to do, to bring it up forget about it, and then bring it back up. But hopefully they keep it going. I also like that Clark is still scared of it. Chloiac is a good story they've got going on right now.

I swear if X somehow turns out to be Lana, I'm going to be pissed.
Nat0117
I hesitate to even say this because I don't want to hang onto false hope, but it does seem that Clark is hurt by watching Chimmy together...and the way that Chloe kind of blew the letter off. Or am I really reaching there?

I would LOVE to know what Goughlar think of all this. About the way that letter was handled. And I'm confused as to why, if this was the ep to nail the coffin closed, we even have to revisit Chlark again in "Abyss." Is it just to keep Chlark fans watching? Because FAIL on that one. No way am I subjecting myself to more of this shit.

I just don't get it. TW and ED have lukewarm chemistry at best. It's awful. Really...everything about it sucks. They have taken the two major things that define Chloe--journalism and a love for Clark--and handed them to Nois. Looks like they're setting up for a Cloisana triangle too.

And 'cause it can't be said enough, HORSE.SHIT. Horseshit. Horseshithorseshithorseshit.
cmirk01
Can someone give me a break down of the fever arc of the episode? How was it introduced, Clark's reaction etc.,
chunkeymonkey81
Wow Smallville. You didn't just drop the ball, you dropped it, kicked it, it rolled under a car and popped and then burst into flames until it dissapeared into a toxic dust that blew away in the wind and flew into the eyes of children and made them blind.

THATS'S how much this episode sucked, and I have watched the Lana was a witch episodes!

It's a TV show, so you have to SHOW not tell us the important things. You can't TELL us Clark and Nois have this amazing connection by a random guest star, when the show has failed to show us this connection the 5 or so years she has been on the show.

Then you bring back the Fever letter, which is hugely important to a large amount of your fanbase(ya know, the people who still watch this show. Which you desperately need. Look at the ratings.) and use it to pimp the magical, inexplicable love that is Cnois, and not for the chlark moment is should have been.

AlMiles wrote that letter and I do not for one minute believe that letter was supposed to be used as a forshadow for Nois or for some *other* soul mate that Clark seemed to be referring too.

And don't get me started on the Jimy Olsen is a tool train. And Maxima was silly and stupid and boring. Boring.

Keep putting out episodes like this and alienating your fanbase and you will be off the air sooner than later. Kiss that season 9 goodbye!
Craptacular
"And I'm confused as to why, if this was the ep to nail the coffin closed, we even have to revisit Chlark again in "Abyss."

So they can literally erase all things Chlark to make room for the most ICONIC! love that ever ICONICed?

I watched during commercials for Ugly Betty bc I wanted to see if I would catch a glimpse of something good. I caught the biggest pile of Bullshit I can imagine.

There are no words. I am glad I've been Noiscotting. This was just off the charts bad.

Chloe? Where the hell are you? Your crap was nearly the worst offense and that is saying a lot.

Chloe, I loved you gal, but I give up. Not even the memory of how good you use to be is worth this. I've been following spoiler wanting to see what will happen to you, bc despite the Chloiac/PodChloe crap, I still felt loyal to you in some way. I fought for you and now I give up.

Writers: You suck. Using the fever letter like that? COLD. How about some appreciation for long time fans? No? I have nothing but ill will for you.
CW: I hope you fold because you suck.
wwg23
What kind of bs are PS3 peddling? I thought they were with the show for years; that they cared about what came before.

First, Nois says that she and Clark are barely friends. They've known each other for 4 years. They've even lived together for pete's sake.

Chloe says she had a schoolgirl crush on Clark and she has the perfect guy in Jimmy? Jimmy - the lying cheating f-wit? That Jimmy? What in heck is wrong with Chloe?

Nois suddenly is jealous of Clark and Maxima? But they're barely friends; and she had feelings for Ollie last week. What the heck?

Jimmy is a jerk and a class A f-wit.

PS3 - you don't know your own characters.
Iconic
Nois suddenly is jealous of Clark and Maxima? But they're barely friends; and she had feelings for Ollie last week. What the heck?

No, Nois is trying to be the fucking rebound to Clark. It isn't love, this whole episode gave off the vibe that Nois wants to get into Clark's pants, nothing more.

Last week she had to go through losing Ollie all over again, it's time for her to rebound, and Clark is the person she wants to rebound.

Clark too is on the rebound, he's lonely, he realized how Chloe felt for him and now he lost it, so he's so lonely, and now he's looking at Lois.

They made Clois the rebound of Chlarkana and Lollie.
Nat0117
I am so not a fan of the gimmicky cop-out, but the only true way to fix this shit would be to Bobby Ewing the entire thing back to S7 (I'd love to go to "Vessel" but I know that's asking too much).

God, please, someone get Goughlar back in here STAT.
CityLife
That was HORRIBLE!!

Joining in on the Noiscotting!!!

How could they bring the fever letter back like that? What fuckheads! They should have just left it! I just want to cry and kick myself so much for ever wasting my time and money for this shit of a show!
wirebiter
Can someone give me a break down of the fever arc of the episode? How was it introduced, Clark's reaction etc.,

Jimmy's moving in with Chloe and he's moving some stuff on a book shelf and out falls the letter. How it got there? No clue. He reads it and huffs off to the bar where he meets Maxima. Later at the hospital he tells Clark about the letter and then Clark asks Chloe about it later. She lets him read it and says she's moved on. So now even later Clark has a conversation in the loft with Nois and...I really don't remember because I was busy trying to get my eyeballs unstuck from rolling them so much.
MsSullivan
I give up. This show is not worth me ruining the rest of my night. To use the Fever letter that way was the biggest kick in the ass to the fans I've ever seen in my life.
DigiKing
If you were to slit my throat right now you'd be splashed with boiling blood. BOILING. To see Maxima the Plot-Device (aka MPD) stand there and speechify about how Nois Lame the Boss-Banger (aka BB) and Clark are ICONIC, then to see Jimmy make out with MPD and be completely forgiven? Holy mackerel. Why is this show still on the air?

WRONG, PS3. You are WRONG, good day sirs (and lady)!
Dilandau
I started watching late in the episode. So I was like "um, why is Poison Ivy in this episode? Why is she acting like that?! WTF?" Luckily I went to Kryptonsite and saw who she was, but she didn't look like Maxima at all.
carcassi
To use the Fever letter that way was the biggest kick in the ass to the fans I've ever seen in my life.

WORD. I watched snippets in between UB, and I'm glad I didn't waste more of my time. After seven plus years, this is it for me.

Congratulations, PS3. As a Chlark fan who's loyally followed this show for the duration, I want to thank you for teaching me how stupid it is to follow a show. Especially any show that you, or the CW, have anything to do with.
Nat0117
And the promo for next week!! "Do you love this man?" WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?! It's one thing that they're forcing the crush, but now she LOVES Clark?! I can't. I really can't.

If I hadn't deleted this cesspool of bullshit from my DVR the second it ended, I'd go back and rewatch the Clark/Jimmy hospital scene because I could've sworn that Clark was pissed about Jimmy kissing Maxima at first. But he totally wimped out and then he even seemed upset looking at Chimmy together. STOP IT!! Why do that?

We JUST had a scene in "Plastique" were Chlark are clearly angsting over one another. This ep totally contradicted all of that. Are we supposed to attribute everything that Chloe says to being infected by Brainiac now? Because if that's it they're playing a dangerous game with a HUGE part of the fanbase and need to be clearer about it.

I suppose it doesn't matter. I can't put myself through this anymore. I'm just so, so upset.
Nori
Can I get more Chloe and Tess? I don't even care if they're fighting, cracking super computers, shooting spit balls at Nois and Clark, or doing eachother's toe nails. Really, I could give a shit. The two were fun to watch and sadly AM and CF have more chemistry than TW and ED.

As for the rest of the show? meh.
Mr Enigma
I think it's great we finally got a payoff to the Fever letter, now hopefully it goes to it's rightful place of things we never discuss anymore that have no relevance to the overall story in the big picture like Lana's biological Dad and Adam Knight.

The episode played out pretty much how I expected, but this is one of those cases I love being right. I like how Lois is the one that broke the spell, I thought that might happen.
chlarkspuffy
Didn't watch. Won't be watching anymore although I reserve the right to bitch every once in a while seeing as how I have been watching the show since the very beginning.

I agree. I would add AlMiles too. Seven years of regurgitated Clana.
Chlarkolate
Shelby lives! Yay!

The Fever Letter. Oh my aching heart. Jimmy stumbles across it while moving in to the Talon. (Stuck between some books on a shelf). At first it looks promising: Jimmy is hurt and Chloe verbally bitchslaps him for being whiny about Clark (seriously, PS3 must have been hanging out in these forums all summer because her dialogue could have been written by one of us). Chloe says she had a schoolgirl crush and she doesn't feel the same way anymore (BOO!) and Jimmy counters with "The question is, why haven't you said things like this (ie. the letter) to me" (Yay!)
Later, recuperating post-Maxima, Jimmy whines to Clark that part of the reason he strayed was because of an old letter Chloe wrote to her first love. Clark doesn't seem to realize that means him but maybe he does. Honestly, I was pretty convinced that would be the last we'd hear of the letter. Surprisingly, he mentions it to Chloe later, in an offhand way. More surprisingly, she matter-of-factly hands it over to him and they talk about it. Then the biggest blow to Chlark fans comes: she completely and convincingly dismisses it. BOOOOOOOOO!

Later Clark is moping in the barn and Lois, playing the role of Lana as she's dressed in white and bathed in etheral moonlight, comes in and have a heart to heart. Clark brings up the letter and then proceeds to generically discuss missing what's right in front of you. No regret really, or angst, just a big fucking Clois anvil landing on our heads.

Generally I'm optimistic, or maybe just crazy, my one last hope is the next episode: if Instinct was meant to put Chlark to rest and pimp Clois then why bother with an episode that is meant to force the characters to confess their true feelings. Also, Jimmy is right to ask why Chloe hasn't said those wonderful things to him. We have yet to see Chloe actually say she loves Jimmy. I'm only marginally hopeful for any kind of Chlark payoff but I'll wait to see up to Bride.

Pluses: TW's half naked.
Interesting: near sex in an elevator. Hmm, is this a call back to Bound? Almost as beloved to Chlarkers as the Fever Letter?
WTF?: So is Gabe actually dead?! Why else would Chloe ask Clark to walk her down the aisle?
Heather25
Shelby, your alive and a different dog. You go boy, and that was so cute when Clark returned to feed him.

Oh my heart was pounding....
I haven't posted in ages because the show really has given me any strong reactions until now. Having been a Chloe and Clark fan since the beginning this episode left me with mixed feelings.
Both TW and AM played the opposites in that final scene very well. I just never know. However, the Lois scene though sort of confirmed how Clark really feels.

I love the Chloe and Tess dynamic soooo cool. I love when Chloe is strong plus I am happy with her new direction(girl's been a reporter since in-utero so doing something else is a good thing and I love when she does her supercomputer Braniac infection. She is destined for the JLA baby. I'm just a hardcore Chloe fan who does not Chlois so as long as I don't think she wants Clark to cure her. I sure hope he doesn't and I look forward to the Davis/Jimmy triangle. I love Jimmy. I think he is a great guy and a major catch. I know it's not a popular opinion. Nerd Lover here. I would have been upset if Chloe gave Jimmy heck for kissing Maxima, how many times have people been mind-whammied, gone on kissing sprees, murder rampages, thievery. It's "Smallville" I'd give the guy a break. He got kicked in the gut by the woman he loves and Maxima's hotter than hot, I'd mack on her. AM keeps me guessing with the way she was convincing herself that she is over Clark. Girlfriend, you never get over Clark Kent that's the way it is. PS. Chloe you do have a father right?

What else umm, TW's hot, Good sleuthing you BDA, Lot's of Chloe, and Lois talks alot but does nothing of consequence. Tess is awesome and fun. So aside from my heart busting out of my chest during the Chloe/Clark talk I enjoyed.

Posting further on my Chlark thoughts in the ships forum.

ETA--Shelby and Gabe nods.

What? Chloe had something else to do than deal with the Fever letter?
Sue Denim
You know, I've been battling negativity for so long. But this episode there's nothing I can do. I'm amazed that I'm such a worthless fan that you had to shit on me like this. I get that I have no excuss in not seeing it coming, but really...Why do you consistantly show me how much better Chlark is a team, partnership and friends, than so called DESTINY?

Count the lightswitches:
1. Nois as journalist and good friend with Clark.
2. Clark feeling some sort of attraction to Nois (per Maxima)
3. Clark & Nois talking about bonds.
4. Chloe showing Clark the letter.
5. Jimmy actually tried not to be a ho-banger.
6. Chlark deciding that their JUST FRIENDS, BFFs, a complete turn around from "Plastique"
7. Me turning SV off.

Tomorrow I'm headed to the electrical supply store and buying a fuse box. Next I'm going blog requests for letters to stuff the box with, then, I'm shipping that damn thing to you, PS3. I'm sick of lightswitches. If you want to have show about lightswitches, cast it accordingly. It could play "Lois's" role so perfectly.

There's a fuse box coming your way.!!! BWAH-hahaha.

Smallville has officially *jumped the shark* ~ 7 fucking years of it's own canon, the 7 years of established history between Chloe & Clark spit on for Bossfucker Nois. The brother/sister chemistry (at best) lightswitched into contrived, forced CNois is complete BULLshit.

FUCK YOU PS3! The show is quickly becoming an iconic bad Joke! It's degenerated into a 90's L&C bad rip-off.

how much better Chlark is a team, partnership and friends, than so called DESTINY?

What a message - Superman stands for truth, justice & Smallville doesn't give a shit about any of that, it's all about having the supposed "right: name, even if you don't earn a damn thing.

This entire episode made me angry.

We have EDLois back to being all about the glory and wanting a front page story. And she's angry about Clark having sex in the workplace, but do the writers expect us to forget about her having sex with Grant on his desk?

And did my ears mislead me or did Clark say he was never into sports? So S4's entire foray into football has been forgotten as well?

There was Clark jealousy over Chimmy, but now he's okay with it? Even after reading the Fever letter and knowing it was from Chloe who was madly in love with him? To me, TW really seemed to be horribly overacting in that last scene with ED--furrowed brow to show his confusion over his love life. Dial it back a notch Tom.

And why exactly did Chloe forgive Jimmy? He's a faithless whore who gets away with kissing another woman.... because Maxima was a hottie?

And exactly who are we supposed to think is Clark's soulmate? Lana, Chloe or EDLois? Damn you PS3, pick a fucking side and stick with it!

The one scene I enjoyed was the Chloe/Tess scenes. Cassidy and Allison played the crap out of that--they are bot storng, intelligent women and neither backed down from the other. Nice.
wirebiter
Jimmy, and his puny human body, was pulling away from Maxima, seemed like the spell wasn't that strong. I doubt it took all that much for Clark to break it.

We have EDLois back to being all about the glory and wanting a front page story.

She seemed a bit to happy that it might be a meteor freak, putting the story above the fold.
wingster55
The fever letter revealed. I do support the nail in romantic Chlark at last. TW and AM have chemistry in spades but everytime they go down that road Clark ends up treating Chloe like crap. Friends and nothing else I say. As for Jimmy and Maxima I thought it was the pheromones. Plus he did resist before she crashed her tongue down his throat.
mybabyaidan
I like how Lois is the one that broke the spell, I thought that might happen.

I liked it too. I liked her whole reaction to it. Like a mix between not believing she was seeing Clark in that position, and subtle jealousy.

But even being a Lois fan, she was incredibly stupid for not running away while Maxima flattened an army of guys with guns. What did she think she could do in that situation?

Also could have done without all the closeups up the tonsil hockey. It was a little much.
Mr Enigma
Jimmy, and his puny human body, was pulling away from Maxima, seemed like the spell wasn't that strong. I doubt it took all that much for Clark to break it.

But Jimmy was trying to pull away. The fact he almost resisted told me how much he really loves Chloe. Sucks she will most likely break his heart, he is a sweet kid. As for breaking the spell it took Clark seeing his true soulmate angry to break him out of it. To me that's very strong.

For the people who dislike Lois, I guess you can always look at this as support to the Action Meta Theory. The one problem in the theory before was we never got any confirmation that Lois was his Soulmate. :)

Wow. So I come home today, eager to watch SV...only to see that my tv doesn't work. It won't come on. Three pages of Instinct and I know why.

My tv went into defensive mode and saved me from this absolute shit. Thank you, tv. I knew there was a reason why you wouldn't come on tonight.

My worst fears, and a culmination of all my expected disappointments over Chloe and Clark seem to have come true.

I never would have believed that PS3 would be so cold. Now I know they are.

Sounds like I'm better off for missing this episode.

And all others following.
wirebiter
I didn't get that from the scene at all. I saw it more like having your siblings walk in on you during an intimate moment for him. It's embarrassing and you know they are never going to let you forget it.
wingster55
Also I'm calling it here, X= Lex.
Come back to us MR.
laurelnola
What's that sound, PS3? It's the vacuum of legions of Chlarkers (viewers you NEED) leaving this show, and giving you the finger on the way out. You crack-monkey morons deserve your fate, and I sure hope all that iconic! hot air keeps you warm as you spiral down into oblivion.

AM, I never thought I'd say this, but if you knew this was coming, then shame on you, lady. You should have walked out on Season 8 rather than returning to let the show fuck over your fans, and the character they love, so brutally.

Congrats, SV, on being the most skilled television show I've ever seen- when it comes to chasing away viewers! You guys win the trophy!

Sibling chemistry is still all TW & ED have too. It's icky trying to watch the forced romantic crap.
savingpeople
I'm confused.

Why bring the "Fever" letter back if you weren't going to fulfill it? There's got to be more to it than what happened in "Instinct".

Chloe vs. Tess was nice.

Nois should have died in the car. I can't believe she just got out and walked away from being THROWN IN A CAR and LANDING UPSIDE DOWN. Really, Smallville? Maybe Clark isn't the only one who is invulnerable on this show?

I just don't have the energy to talk about Clark and Nois having a bond just because Maxima says so. Do writers on this show know you shouldn't write things out of convenience?

I hope "X" is Lex and I love Tess Mercer, but other than that, Smallville just isn't delivering the goods when it needs to.

Sure is a good thing I bought my 30 Rock S2 DVD set the other day. I'm going to have to watch "Greenzo" to combat this crap.
