Maks and Edyta's jive was probably the hottest jive I've seen on this show. Those two are just oozing sex appeal. Shame that we didn't get to see Misty dance that. Hope the surgery was a success and that she'll recover nicely. The show needs to officially retire that clip of her getting injured because it pains me to have to watch that over and over.
Julianne and Derek's dance was pretty good but it seemed a little too hectic. I wasn't a big fan of Julianne dancing on top of the judges' table. I love the girl but that was unnecessary. J-Hud was good (I didn't like the screaming) but the backup singers were better.
The Rockettes! If you have a chance to see their Christmas show at Radio City, do it. They're even more amazing to watch in person.

Awww, not Rocco! Rocco is at least trying. I didn't watch his show, but he seems ok here and on Top Chef.
Looks like Lance & Lacey are in trouble, too. A little surprised about that.
Surprised Cloris wasn't in the bottom, but I guess she's getting the "pity" vote.

I'm wondering if it was a close race between Cloris/Corky and Rocco/Karina. Why are people voting for her?
I was a little disappointed with Julianne/Derek's dance. I agree it was a little too hectic. I missed Maks/Edyta's dance. Now I have to find it.

I just realized they've gotten rid of the part where the audience members make comments. Do any of you miss that? I don't.
That Edyta/Maks jive seemed oddly subdued. The music choice didn't help. I hated the outfits, although Maks' ass was in fine form and I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed Edyta's getup.
On the Kool & the Gang number, why was the first song a complete lip sync job and the other songs were live?
I could have done without the gimmick of Julianne on the judges' table.
I'm beyond tired of the contempt that Tom and Samantha are treating Cloris with now. The show wanted her. Yes, she's crazy and odd, but show her some respect.

We don't know if she was in the bottom two or not. ETA: Upon rereading, I realize that I misread your post. Disregard this then! :P
My guess is that the producers want to get rid of her (maybe that stinker of a jive clued them in), so they announced her early. That way they won't benefit from being made to stand until the very end.

I bet Cloris is in the bottom two and the producers are trying to lull her fans into not "saving " her again by revealing "in no particular order." How anti-climactic. I knew no one was going home and I was pretty sure there would be no miracle return of KK.
Jennifer Hudson is really beautiful and what a voice!

Awww, not Rocco! Rocco is at least trying.
He barely moves in any of his dances, and when he does move, it's a trainwreck. I think they're trying to make sure Cloris goes, but I hope these manipulations don't mean both Cloris and Rocco stay and someone like Toni unexpectedly goes.
What was the point of asking Len is Misty would have gone via votes this week? I doubt she would have, and it doesn't matter, because she had to leave anyway.
Travis Payne, Brian Friedman, and Dave Scott *all* once worked for SYTYCD, didn't they? Are they all working with DWTS now? Wow, DWTS is really raiding their piggy bank.

THAT was a pathetic waste of time tonight!
Man, Cloris must have a huuuuuuuuuuuuge fan base supporting her! No, she's not in the bottom 2, that was Rocco and Lance.
Though I was so hoping it would be Lance and Lacey going home due to their rudeness and disrespect last week.

I'd really like to see ballroom return to the special guest star dances. And not just the rumba. Not everything needs to be some version of a burlesque/hip hop fusion.
I usually love Edyta but the leg warmers with that outfit did me in. I didn't like the music either, or Maks' outfit. I did like the choreo he had designed for Misty though.
I'm getting a showmancy vibe off Warren/Kim. He's leaning into her way more in confessional and has his arm around her all the time in post-show interviews.

What was the point of asking Len is Misty would have gone via votes this week? I doubt she would have, and it doesn't matter, because she had to leave anyway.
Yea, that was a stupid question. I'm actually getting tired of hearing questions from either Tom or Samantha to the judges towards the end. For example, "Bruno, who do you think should leave?" Why did they add those questions? They didn't use to have that section. DWTS always has no time for the ones to leave to speak towards the end. Maybe if they cut that out, we can actually hear from the couple instead of the judges.
I also didn't like the choreographers segment as well. It was blah.

The show needs to officially retire that clip of her getting injured because it pains me to have to watch that over and over.
Word. I never want to see that or the sound of her injury. Too much.
I enjoyed Derek and Julianne's dancing though I could have done without her on top of the judges' table. Love Jennifer Hudson as well. Oscar winner and no diva attitude like J. Lo who was unwilling to share air time with the dancers.
I loved Edyta and Maks' jive and the return of Edyta's leg warmers!
I did not mind the video clips as I figured an injury one was coming. I love all three of the choreographers they featured. Dave Scott worked with Lacey on SYTYCD so I am happy they did not have him comment on her. Besides, I thought Pasha was the star of their hip hop routine. I do not think Travis, Brian and Dave are working for DWTS now. Rather, Travis was a Macy's Stars of Dance performer last season and Brian this season. Dave is appearing later this season.
I agree with the other posters that while Rocco was in the bottom, I think Cloris was in the bottom 2 but they are trying not to ignite her fan base.
Lance/Lacey continue to give off an entitled vibe for me. Fairy fart, indeed Lance.
Cloris is annoying enough, but with Corky bringing on full on mugging, I need this two gone next week.

Edyta's body was clearly created by a machine. I think my straight girl crush for her just got elevated several notches. (Plus Maks+tight pants = YAY!)
Well, knowing that the fear has been put into Rocco and Karina, here's hoping that they bring it next week. Because we have to suffer through one more week of "Clorky" as it is.
I'm beyond tired of the contempt that Tom and Samantha are treating Cloris with now. The show wanted her. Yes, she's crazy and odd, but show her some respect.
Well, the PRODUCERS wanted her, which doesn't necessarily mean the hosts do. And for me, there are so many antics one can do where it gets to the point it goes from "Oh, how funny!" to "Seriously lady, STOP." (See Marie Osmond.) Plus, Cloris is probably setting records for the amount of time she gets muted per show. I bet the standards and practices department will be breathing easy once she's given the hook.

I agree that it is way past time for Cloris to go home. I realize that she is in her 80's but holy crap, she doesn't even dance. The last time that I checked, this was a show about dancing, not "comedy". Such a shame that someone like Rocco, who is working so hard to improve and trying to actually perform the dance, barely escapes being sent home and is saddled with his low scores from this week to boot. I am completely mystified that more people would rather watch Cloris and Corky goof around on the dance floor.
I love Lance and Lacey, and I hate the way that the judges are scoring them. They don't like it if they put a modern twist on a traditional dance. But if they do a traditional dance, then they've lost their "spark". Make up your mind. Susan Lucci completely forgot some of her steps -- she obviously stopped at least twice during her jive -- but the judges glossed over it and gave her pretty decent scores. I really hope that Lance and Lacey were not in the bottom two, because they are amazing to watch.
I thought Julianne and Derek's dance was fun -- it is always great to watch the pros get a chance to show what they can really do.

Cloris is the new Marie, but I thought it was a sweet moment backstage in the red room with Cloris, Brooke and Derek all hand in hand. But what she said prior to that sweet moment was awful and no idea what she was talking about.
Also, like that Tom can laugh at himself. His crack about the Emmys and host injuries was funny. Funnier than anything the hosts during Emmy night.

I like Cloris. I have to turn it on mute and I can't always watch her stuff, but I like having her there because it's a sort of charisma free crowd. Got even more like that with Misty gone.
I wanted to say how much I objected to the feature getting the views of non-ballroom choreographers. More and more I see Maks' point. This is, at least nominally, still a show where pros try to teach ballroom dancing. I like being brought into that world, I don't want to see stuff that's already overly familiar - oh look, here's people who work with Britney, Usher, blah blah. These people have nothing to do with ballroom. I don't care if they are "choreographers".
Are DWTs ratings suffering that they have to make a grab for whatever demo they think these references attract? Why make itself like lesser shows? I'd have preferred ballroom dancers, maybe retired ballroom dancers, hell, drag in Wendy Johnson, Nick, others with some bona fides, and have them describe the particular challenges of teaching ballroom. It just annoyed me terribly. DWTs is acting as if it's an out of touch show and needs to reinvigorate the fanchise. No, it's a huge ratings hit. I just don't understand what to me is the blanding out of everything. The pro routines look like stuff I'd see on the Grammys.

I admit my bias because I like Travis, Brian and Dave. But I agree with your point waltzinspringtm about the producers trying to reinvigorate a show that does not need tweaking. I agree that it is exciting because there is no runaway winner. But also I do not see more obviously efforts from the producers trying to grab headlines or a younger demo that will not watch. I would not have minded hearing from Wendy Johnson or Tony Meredith. Heck, if they are in love with SYTYCD, get Mary Murphy. Umm, maybe not. I take that back.

Loved seeing Maks and Edyta dance that jive in honour of Misty. It was terrific fun! I like Edyta and her crazy obsession with leg warmers. It's her thing. I think it's funny. I wonder if that was the outfit Misty would have worn had she not left? She certainly could have rocked it.
I did notice we got a LOT more footage of the aftermath of the injury. Including shots of Maks by Misty's side and crouching down with his cell looking distressed. I knew he was there for her. He's a good guy.
The Rockettes were terrific, they have a great old Hollywood Musical vibe about them which I love.
I didn't like the Julianne/Derek dance, it was too much. As for Jennifer Hudson, whatever.

Um, that was the first performance by the Rockettes I can really remember, and I wasn't impressed. I would honestly have no desire to see them at Radio City Music Hall.
Also, I missed the introduction to Kool and the Gang. Was there any mentioned of who the dancers were, or were they part of the band's act? Because they sucked. And watching any of their attempts at ballroom style moves made me believe that unless you have had ballroom dance experience in the past, you can be a professional dancer in another style and still suck at ballroom. So, I don't think I will ever use the term ringer for anyone on DWTS, ever.
Enjoyed very much Derek and Julianne's dance together. Didn't mind her dancing on the judges' table, although she did seem a bit off-balance at one point.
Even though I knew no one would be eliminated tonight, it was still a blow to hear Cloris and Corky called safe. They're not even the bottom two! I am calmed by others' opinions that the producers are trying to lull people into a false sense of security so she'll be voted off next. Speaking of that, poor Karina and Rocco. You could tell by their expressions after Clorky were safe that they knew they were the ones with the lowest scores. And I remember last year when whoever it was was called safe that made Karina realize that she and Mario were the ones to be eliminated that night - wait, I think it was Marissa and Tony - and Karina had that knowledge in her face. Back then it was a little more sour (I refuse to call it a bitchface), but tonight she just looked sad. I haven't voted for anyone the past two weeks, but I'm thinking a number of my votes are going to them next week.
Maks in that costume...oh, my goodness. I couldn't help but chuckle that Edyta was wearing her legwarmers.
I don't hate Lance or Lacey, but I want them to stop with the rebel stuff. Right now. Anything the producers tell you to do, ignore it. Show us how much fun you're having and how hard you are working and how the hard work is paying off in an improvement of your technique and performance. That is how you get the votes.
Karina should get a raise for every injury she has to dance through on this show. She's like the Kerri Strug of DWTS.

I love Julianne and Derek as dancers separately but I can't for the life of me understand why they insist on having them dance together. Any other combination of dancers would have fit that dance. I personally would have enjoyed it more if it was, say, Julianne and Mark; that was a missed opportunity in my eyes.
I never did understand who was dancing with Kool and the gang and would appreciate being enlightened. They weren't all that coordinated, that bunch.
LOL. I thought the same thing. I do not think they announced their names.
And could someone please put Cloris out of her misery and stop voting for her? It's beyond embarrassing at this point. And I've never really liked her antics but I also don't think they should be so dismissive of her when they were eating it up on week one. It's like suddenly they producers have realized that some people find her annoying and are now determined to stop her. I thought it was disrespectful.
Lastly, Lacey has no poker face. She looked like she was going to upchuck her lunch any second. Still got the sense that both she and Lance feel waaaay too entitled.

So Cloris is still here... Every week that she stays on the show, we become one step closer to witnessing the Rumba. Personally, I would rather not have those images burned into eyes. I don't hate her or anything, but the fact that she outlasted Ted is frustrating.
I love it when they partner up Julianne and Derek. They are both so fast and acrobatic. Its always fun to watch.

Seriously. One of the reasons I
don't watch SYTYCD. Please, DWtS, enough with the crossovers. You have your own identity. You don't need SYTYCD's. And some of your audience actually doesn't like or watch that show.
Thanks for the answer on the encore, harvestbasket! I figured it'd be Brooke/Derek, but having Maks perform his aborted routine was a nice touch.
Still not a fan of Rocco, but I like Karina so I want them to survive over Cloris.
I'm really enjoying Karina this season. Maybe it's that she has no expectation of winning this season or maybe she just flat out likes Rocco or whatever! This season is the most likeable, as a person, she's been for me, and I've always loved her dancing. Don't want her or Rocco, who
is better than Cloris, at least, leaving before Cloris/Corky. At this point, I'm starting to lay a lot of the blame for the Cloris fiasco at Corky's feet. There's funny and quirky choreography, then there's embarrassing and humiliating, and I think he's crossed that line. Is he even trying to rein in Cloris or teach her technique? I grant, she'd be trying for any of the pros working with her, but really, he seems to not even be giving it a real shot.
Thus far, I don't think either Corky or Lacey are a good fit for this show.

Agreed. I enjoy both well enough as dancers, Derek more so than Julianne. However, put them together and it is just so over the top. Plus a big fat no to Julianne dancing on the judges table.
I also agree that announcing Rocco as the one who would go home was just an effort to mobilize people to vote for him next week so Cloris leaves. I think the show wanted Cloris at first, but are about at the point where they want to be rid of her. Cloris very likely was bottom two, but they just didn't put that out there if only to lull her voters into a stupor perhaps.
The Maks/Edyta jive was cute and I didn't mind the Rockettes. The other "dancers" were painful.

Can't comment on Lacey. As for Corky, it's hard to judge him because he is significantly limited by having Cloris for a partner as she just cannot move like the other dancers. I don't think we have seen any of what he can do just yet.
Color me surprised that Corky/Cloris were safe and like others I knew it was Rocco, although for a second I thought it may have been Lance. Lacey looked scared being b2. Hopefully this will wake her up.

yesenializ, I agree with you about Lance/Lacey giving off the entitled vibe. Though I enjoyed watching Lacey squirm.
I enjoy Julianne and Derek as separate dancers and together as long as it is not a rumba. In her recent blog, Julianne did say she never danced with Derek since he always competed one level ahead of her, etc. until they both appeared on DWTS. It is in the media thread. Actually, I know Julianne/Mark are a logical pairing, but I actually like Julianne when she dances with Tony.
I know some speculated whether that rebel line was fed by the producers. After hearing Lance say that being a rebel is what he brings to show, I am thinking they are getting some push from the producers there.

Did anyone else feel as if Julianne and Derek were not dancing to the song? Last week when Cheryl and Maks danced, they danced to the music. TPTB are doing everything they can to make me hate this show. From having to suffer through the Jonas Brothers and Jessica Simpson and now Jennifer Hudson. I did notice we got a LOT more footage of the aftermath of the injury. Including shots of Maks by Misty's side and crouching down with his cell looking distressed. I knew he was there for her. He's a good guy.
Maks having his cell with him in the footage they showed tonight makes me think the reason he wasn't right next to her in the footage they showed last night, when Karina and Rocco were with her, is because he was standing back on his phone calling for help. It's that natural protective instinct to not want to be standing right next to the person when you're describing how bad their injury is, because you want to put on that happy "oh, I'm sure you're going to be just fine!" face for them. So he probably stood back to call for help and then went right back over to her. From all accounts, he's a great guy. I was looking on his fan board last night, and I found a story someone was telling about going to his studio for a lesson. She said she was telling him she has a chronic pain condition, and he asked her if it was fibromyalgia (it was), then showed her the fibro awareness bracelet he wears and discussed different treatments for the condition with her. That just made me like him even more, since I have the same condition. That whole "bad boy" image is so not who he is, I think.
Sorry to see Rocco in the bottom, but it's not surprising. Hopefully he'll get something good next week and make a breakthrough. Stranger things have happened.
I think the show is definitely trying to spur the Rocco/Karina fans to start voting heavily next week. It also makes me think Cloris may be the one who was the next lowest, as she seems the most likely candidate for someone the show would want to get rid of by spurring the lowest scoring team's fans to vote. Otherwise, why reveal who was going to go home? It's kind of cruel, if you think about it. I hope it drives Karina to come up with a kickass routine next week, and that it does spur fans to vote for them (Karina has her own fan base, I'm sure).
I wish it was true that Lance and Lacey were actually in the bottom two, but that was definitely a "in no particular order" reveal. The only couple definitely in the bottom two was the one getting the boot (or supposed to get the boot in the case of tonight's results show). This is probably the smart way to do it, though, because it doesn't lead to everyone going nuts to power vote for a couple that was in the bottom two to save them instead of just voting for whoever they like. Basically, there really is no "bottom two" anymore. There's just another couple standing out on the stage with the losing couple. And I think they're giving each couple a turn at it, from the looks of it. So far, Lance and Lacey have done it, Corky and Cloris, Toni and Alec, and I think Maks and Misti maybe did--didn't they do it the second elimination of the first week or was that someone else up there with Ted and Inna?
So glad they went this route and didn't bring back Kim. I read she was texting Mark asking him if he was ready to go back. I'm thinking she was responsible for all the gossip that she was going to be going back. Her or her mother.

Julianne and Derek most certainly danced to the music, but their speed is always what seems to throw people off. They're fast. VERY fast. As for Julianne dancing on the table, Len looked like he was having the time of his life. The unnaturally happy expression on his face had me laughing, and feeling a bit uncomfortable... ITA that Julianne dancing with Toni is a great match-up. She is tiny, and he is a beast. I remember their pro-waltz in Season 4 incorporated some pretty incredible lifts.
Having the lowest combined total is going to really squeeze Rocco for next week. I hope he stays, and either Cloris or Lance goes home. I can't stand L&L, and I really don't want to see Cloris get any nearer to doing a Rumba.

I can't believe I forgot about this...that shot of Carrie Ann narrowly missing being hit by Cloris's wig was by far the best part of the show for me.
Ha! Thanks for pointing that out. Not only did she narrowly miss it, she had to actually duck from the flying wig or else it would have hit her straight in the face. That bit was worth a couple of re-watches.
The other "dancers" were painful.
Who were they? They were awful. They seemed to be stumbling through their routine.
Their names weren't announced, which at this point is just as well since the routine wasn't, um, well-executed (I'm trying to be generous).
I, too, was baffled by the use of non-ballroom choreographers to discuss the Pros and stars. How about Charlotta or Nick? Or any other number of professional ballroom dancers? I watch and like SYTYCD for different reasons than I do DWTS, and even
I feel like it's trying to pander too much to the SYTYCD crowd. It's one thing to have Pasha and Anya (I adore them) but they are actual ballroom dancers and represent the genre well. I even think they're good enough to be brought on as Pros. Why seek the opinion of people who aren't even in the field of dance that the show represents?

Misty's jive was so much fun! I would have loved to see her dance that. And I didn't realize I actually missed Edyta until I saw her dance with Maks tonight. They were HOT! Maks' pants definitely highlighted his assets (hee!) quite nicely. Nice job, wardrobe!
The performance from Kool and the Gang seemed really short. Oh, and those dancers SUCKED.
Does Toni have a sister? I swear I saw someone who looked just like her behind Tom when he was introducing the Rockettes. Speaking of the Rockettes, I thought they were awesome. I was thoroughly entertained.
I always love Julianne and Derek dancing together. I really enjoy their high energy and precision, and they do dance really fast. I remember when they first danced together to Joss Stone back in season 4 they were lightning fast and it was terrific. Did they make a mistake during the JHud routine, though? At one point towards the end it looked like Julianne got stuck during a spin on the floor. I don't know, it just looked a bit awkward. I didn't mind Julianne dancing on the judges' desk, either. And damn, she looked gorgeous.
I laughed when that one choreographer said Kym's choreography brought an element of comedy to the dance floor. I know he didn't mean it the way I took it, but still. I laughed.
From Lacey to the SYTYCD choreographers to Idol alum Jennifer Hudson, I wonder which FOX reality show the producers will draw from next.

In her recent blog, Julianne did say she never danced with Derek since he always competed one level ahead of her, etc. until they both appeared on DWTS.
I distinctly remember Derek saying to Apolo, when he came in to help them with their rumba, that he and Julianne had to do the rumba together. So was that just a lie to make Apolo feel less weird about doing a very romantic dance with Julianne and if so was the lie perpetuated to help Jennie too, since he said the same thing to her.
Not to mention that when Samantha was interviewing Julianne and Cody about the upcoming rumba, when Julianne mentioned that she'd be laughing the whole time since Cody looks like brother, Samantha said, "well you've danced with your brother before." It's really to the point where no matter how mundane, I believe almost nothing that comes out of Julianne's mouth anymore.

I believe Derek and Julianne did a rumba on the DWTS tour together. It was Derek's first tour before he came on the show in Season 5.
