Sometimes I hate this show. Why? Because they pulled the dramatic effect on the one contestant who has a heart condition and has made it pretty clear that she's worried. I thought it was pretty crass to make Toni (and Alec) wait until the very end. What a shitty thing to do.
How was the group number? I missed it!
Not bad. The music, as usual, made it suck. Maks, Karina, Julianne and Derek were the ones that I paid attention the most.

I hate ABC and what they did to Toni! They keep emphasizing that she has a heart condition and they were about to give her a heart attack! I was about to not watch this anymore if she was gone.
I don't like that Ted is gone. He looked really upset and wanted to stay. He was way better than Kim and Cloris. Why is Cloris there? I really am not liking her anymore. She's a horrible dancer.

And what was up with no encore from last night? Instead I have to suffer the cornea-searing horror that is Jeffery Ross dancing? I hate this show.

Kim would be a vacuous bimbo, if it wasn't for the fact that bimbos are sexy. Good god, she's vacant.
I have got to stop watching the results show -- given how much stress I was under once Cloris and Kim were safe, I can't even BEGIN to imagine what it feels like to be the actual contestant waiting for the results.
I'm sorry for Ted, but not wildly surprised. That old middle of the pack, middle dancer thang again. He got forgot. I was quite worried for Rocco once they were down to 6 and also worried for Toni (actually for Alec; contemplating Alec and Edyta's home life if he got thrown off second after her getting thrown off first -- whew.)

I did see Lacey and Mark danced during the Jonas Brothers. Lacey looks better without wearing black! Now she needs to do something about her beehive hair. Mark/Lacey actually danced well together.

It's the fact that you know that T&A weren't in the bottom 2, but still made her wait until the very end that pisses me off.
Cloris's act was funny a decade ago, already. Dial it down. (same goes to those fans of hers. Put her out of her misery...or mine)

Aw, I feel so bad for Ted... you could tell how sad he was. :( Used half my votes on him. But, I knew when Cloris was called safe that he was hosed. I would much rather see him, as someone who actually wants to try to learn to dance better, remain while other dead weight who seems not to care (Cloris and Kim) takes a hike.
If we have to be punished with Cloris for another week, PLEASE GOD do not give her the rumba. We cannot distribute enough brain bleach to the general public in that unfortunate event.
I wanted to go hug Toni. She looked absolutely distressed.
What the fuck is with the constant screaming and the Jonas Brothers? Can any of these pre-pubescent girls even hear the "singing", seeing how they are too busy squealing during their entire performace? Egads, the 15 minutes for these kids can be up any day now. They are everywhere and they make my ears bleed.

I see why Kim stayed, but none of is based on potential, IMO. Cloris bringing the show attention, but I do not see anyone but Joel McHale benefitting the most from Kim's time on the show.
As soon as Mark was called safe, I knew Cloris was safe. No way TPTB will miss out on a chance to have father/son in the bottom 2.
What a shame. Ted had potential.
ITA and we worry about Ted being the jump the shark, when the continued participation of Kim and Cloris is clearly jump the shark. If they scored Kim and Cloris with 2, 3, 4 paddles they deserved, maybe one of those two would be out. I feel awful for Ted. He really was trying and seems to want to be there compared to Kim.
I hated they had Toni wait out the final 2. My goodness. The producers are ruining this show for me. If Misty, Brooke, Toni or Warren leave before Kim or Cloris, I will be peeved.

I got pretty nervous after Cloris and Kim were declared safe. Thought Rocco and Karina were goners for sure.
Sorry to see Ted go. I think he could have been really good, and he seemed to really enjoy this. But I guess being paired with a totally non-polarizing unknown newbie dancer was his death nell.
Cloris. Really? I had no idea Vaudeville and Burlesque were still that popular here in the U.S. of A.
Kim K. ... her Alexis Carrington face when Ted and Inna were eliminated was pretty scary. Like ..."Now
I'll have control of Denver-Carrington!" I'm assuming Mark's fans are why she was saved.
While I have no Lacey hate, because I've never seen SYTYCD, I did notice tonight during the Pro-dance, that she had the uncanny ability to look straight into the camera no matter where it was.
Well, I guess we don't have to worry about Ted being the shark-jumping ruination of this show. Cloris'll take care of *that*.

This is the first time during a results show that I've gotten nervous. I KNEW Cloris was staying. Read other boards and sites besides TWOP and they love that old obnoxious bag. I'm all for trainwrecks like Jerry Springer and even Mark Cuban, but Cloris AND Kim? Ugh.
I didn't think Jeffery Ross was that bad. He was trying. He actually moved and seemed to put in a little effort. I was all set to hate him, but I can't hate someone who tries unlike Cloris or DOA Kim.

I'm pissed that Cloris and Kim are still there, because Ted really showed potential and wasn't a looney tunes. My parents, who would be in the age range to be Cloris fans, are tired of her "routine" and wishes she would just shut up and stop wasting the judges time. Hopefully, she goes away next week. She's almost as useless as Master P, and he was sorta funny.

I have a feeling that Toni's vote-count is on the low side and they want to alert her fans to start voting for her. Maybe not bottom 2, but they're probably ready for Cloris to leave and wouldn't want to rev up her fanbase by saying she was 2nd lowest - maybe the same's true for Kim. But Toni I think they'd like to keep.
Why do they mainly want to attract children to this show? Are they the only demo with disposable income anymore? Those singers - the singleton and the band - were silly. And were Derek and Mark tap-dancing with the lead singer while he stomped along a bit? Oh that's a brilliant idea, show, you're outdoing yourself this year. I'm kinda hoping it's your undoing.

This is the one thing I absolutely hate about this show....too often the American public are just absolute idiots....There is no GOOD reason to justify Cloris still being here and Ted being gone. Was he going to win? Of course not. But anyone who tries to give me the ratings argument, please smell what you're shoveling. I could count on one hand the number of people who are tuning in to DwTS next week just so they can watch Cloris again....People who watch DwTS watch it because they enjoy the show, period.....NOT because a certain person is still around. Yes we all have our favorites that we root for, but one person does NOT make or break this show...

Sep 24, 2008 @ 8:26 pm
I don't think it was all that mean for TPTB to make Toni and Alec wait until the end. Somebody has to, and why should she be excepted? If she's healthy enough to do the show, then she is healthy enough to stand there waiting for the results. If her heart condition is enough of a problem that that sort of anxiety is cruel, then she shouldn't be doing this.
But I did think it was sort of stupid. Between Toni and Ted, there wasn't that much suspense as to who would leave. I guess the producers could have been hinting at a shocking elimination. :D
Maybe TPTB really want to get rid of Cloris and Kim, which is why they didn't make them wait. I've always felt that being made to wait actually benefits the couples in the long run, because it entices viewers to vote. I've never believed that "being left until the end" = "the producers have a vendetta against the couple in question". In fact, it could be the opposite.

If Kim and Cloris bring ratings, wouldn't it stand to reason they'd also draw votes?
I think Toni is probably down there but definitely not B2. That's Kim and Cloris trolling down at the bottom with Ted, probably separated by less than a hair's breadth. I'm not heartbroken. He didn't really step up into that John O'Hurley role that wins hearts. George Hamilton mined the same vein. He was too much "I drink beer, I'm doing it for the guys", blah blah - and not only wasn't he too convincing - who's he talking to? The audience is a whole lot of soccer moms and other middle-roadish female demographics. If he'd truly worked the joy of dancing like O'Hurley did, or the sheer joy of having all of the attention on him and strangling the camera lens til it begged for mercy like George Hamilton did, he'd have "popped" as they say, for the voters who've shown in the past they go for that. The slot was wide open and he ignored it. He even looked the part!
As for Toni having to wait until the last second, if her heart condition is such that her health could be endangered waiting to see if she's safe in a reality show dancing contest, she shouldn't be dancing. I figure healthwise the suspense is just fine for her.
I feel bad that they're screwing with her, but she and Lucci are the ones who look most terrified each elimination time and you know the producers are going to milk that.
Even before Maurice mentioned he was looking forward to the rumba, a Maurice rumba scared me. A Misty/Maks rumba should be just fine - she has no problem being theatrical, but it might be a little early for her to pull off the whole sexy thing on the level. Still, I don't fear it as I do Maurice's.

One good possibility, I hope, from Ted's elimination is that the judges will score Cloris, Kim and anyone else who does not really dance next Monday fairly. It is not like Cloris or Kim have an Osmond-size fan base. Hopefully one of them will leave. America did eventually vote off Master P.
No more Jonas Bros. I am tired of them trying to attract that younger demo.

That group number was a little bit subdued. It was definitely no "Let Me Entertain You." Did the music seem slow again? Those singers need to be fired. I don't think I can take a whole season of them butchering song after song after song. Love that the producers keep on having Julianne and Derek dance together. Maks and Karina were on fire, wow.
As for the actual results: whatever. Of course they want to keep Cloris. She brings the ratings (supposedly). Who's voting for Kim? I have a feeling Mark's fans are keeping them in this.

Who's voting for Kim? I have a feeling Mark's fans are keeping them in this.
I think it is not so much her fan base or the pro, but that Ted had none. Kim has own following. I am sure Mark fans are voting for him, but I think most pro fan bases are overestimated except for the top 3 of Maks, Julianne and Cheryl. I think it is a matter of percentages. Compared to Ted, Kim probably has more fans. She has her own following and she is everywhere so I am guessing she has more fans than Ted. I am speculating, but I am guessing Kim and Cloris may have been more on the bottom half of the 12 celebs but by being called early, hopefully there is a backlash and one of those two will go next week.
As for ratings, I think since their core viewers are older, they tend to be more loyal. It has nothing to do with Cloris, Kim, Ted or any celeb. But if they stray too far from what made it a successful, those fans will leave, IMO. I think what the producers like is Cloris getting them headlines.

Cloris is getting more press than everyone else this season combined. She's not going to go yet. Kim had the last dance of the night, set to a fun song, with a partner who is, while not universally loved, is far more well known than Inna Brayer, and who also happened to be half-naked.
Ted, meanwhile, is moderately known and was treated with the same type of barely veiled contempt by the judges that men of his type (Steve Guttenberg, John Ratzenberger) are always given. I voted some for him, but I knew that if Kim wasn't going, Ted was.
That group number was a little bit subdued. It was definitely no "Let Me Entertain You." Did the music seem slow again? Those singers need to be fired.
No one can match Freddie or David, but I thought that was one of the best vocal performances I've heard on the show in a few years. I enjoyed the group number, but I wish the lighting and camera angles had been better. Still, I did like the group number, especially the end. I just wish they wouldn't have such dark lighting.
I don't think it was all that mean for TPTB to make Toni and Alec wait until the end. Somebody has to, and why should she be excepted?
I agree. Even if she was called safe early this week, she's going to be waiting to the end at some point.
I think they did Toni a huge favor. My guess is that the women are splitting votes and now that the two cannon fodder men are gone, it's going to get much tougher for the ladies. This will make sure she gets more votes next week.
Tonight should have had any of Cloris, Kim, or Rocco with Ted to raise the drama....
Rocco was kept until near the end.
If Cloris and Kim had been kept until near the end, they would have a big boost in votes next week. I doubt the show wants them to stay around much longer.

She does amuse me, time to time, it's just too much. Speaking of which, I thought the same of Penn and Adam last season. It's hard for comedians to fit their shtick to the time constraints, but I guess she's the worst ever.
I did like what I saw of Adam's man on the street interviews. That was cute. I liked the guy who didn't know Cloris and looked at Adam and said, "I don't even know who you are." Love it when these "stars" are brought down a few pegs (though Adam's not so much in need of that - it's nice to see Kim squirm as the judges give her hell and she has to sweat it out to the end like last night -- I'm assuming, if for no other reason, THAT's why they called her early tonight. It was a bit rough on her having to perform last after standing there for hours.)

ok, I have figured out why I like Jesse and not the Talentless Bros. - he reminds me of a young Rick Schroder.
I was disappointed in the group dance only because I couldn't really see the performers all that well - the lighting was terrible and the camera angles could be much better. I did love the dance itself, though.
I miss Ashly!! Come back, replace that no-talent derriere-clown, mugging Lacey.
It was sad, to see Kim and then Cloris called safe. I figured that meant that Rocco or Ted would be saying goodbye. Of those two, I was glad it was Ted and not Rocco, but dang, another week of Cloris. I like to watch this show with my daughter. They say the pretty girls don't last (they do) but IMO it's those earnest middle-aged men who are doomed on DWTs. Unless they've got ham and talent, and O'Hurley and Hamilton both did, the audience is just not interested. Guttenberg worked his "DWTS is just about happiness!" schtick for all he was worth and nobody cared. Ted was just there, IMO. He should have worked the handsome and dapper middle-aged man, aiming straight at his target demo for that, and he just punted. He may have lacked both the skills and the partner with the personality to help him pull it off, but damn it, he ought to have given it the college try.
On a different front Karina is just looking so pretty this season. I don't usually care for it when brunette's go blonde, but I like her in the lighter hair a lot.

Maybe, more for Cloris than Kim. I think it is more that Ted has the smallest fan base. But please, judges, score accordingly. In no way was Kim's mambo just three points worse than Misty. ITA with waltzinspringtm that middle aged male actors are doomed. If you are not campy like George or from a t.v. series where there is some loyalty (John R.), you are doomed. I doubt Married with Children fans were voting in droves.
I think also think Karina is looking lovely this season. She looks better since she dropped Mario Lopez. While Samantha is looking a bit too thin. Maybe it is the dresses. Samantha's stupid questions continue. It is way too early to ask the top scorer if they feel like people are gunning for them. Also, I thought the judges were more than kind to Kim last night. They gave her constructive comments and while Kim did not seem to agree last night (in post-show interviews), just have some enthusiasm.
I also think Toni will benefit a lot from being called safe last. I think she could be like Mario from last season.
Though no "Dancing Fool", I thought the pro dance was good. I hate losing Ina and keeping Lacey.
Best part of Adam's man on the street was the one who did not recognize him and his picking on Cody.

Wasn't the clomping Jonas brother on with Mark and Derek right after Kim and Mark were saved? I speculate the timing may also have been due to Mark's need to get backstage and change (did he?)
