I tried to watch one of these episodes today, without much luck. “World Enough and Time” was nominated for the Hugo Award this year for best dramatic episode (short form). It’s up agaisnt things like Dr. Who episodes, and , being a member who votes on such things, I tried to watch it tonight. I think the premise is viable, in that they want to create “new” episodes of the original Star Trek show from the 60’s, and produce them strictly for Internet viewing.
I caught the gist of the story, which involved a Klingon attack on the Enterprise, with a young Captain Kirk in charge, as well as younger versions of Chekov, Spock, and Dr. McCoy.
However, the video was not streaming, and the audio was intermitant at best, despite the fact that I have high speed cable Internet access.
I like the idea of creating a “fourth season” of a show that was cancelled after three seasons, but I found it almost impossible to see on my computer. If they want me to vote for that as “best dramatic presentation” , they need to make sure that I can actually SEE the presentation.
There are other episodes besides this one. Have any of you seen them?

Don't you mean Star Trek The New Voyages? Star Trek Phase II was the attempt to reboot the original series that ended up mutating into The Motion Picture.

Star Trek: The New Voyages got renamed into Star Trek: Phase II, which means we have 2 such things. (This thread should probably have "Fan Series" appended to the title).
I watched them, and they're pretty good. The effects and production values are generally decent. The stories are good, and the acting ... acceptable. The leads are OK, but the secondary actors mixed. There are downloads & bit torrents of the various episodes available.
Anyway, "World Enough and Time" is up at
Google video, for those who want to stream or download.

I mostly like them, but what the hell is the deal with Chekhov dying and then being back at his station in the next episode like nothing happened? I felt like going all Space Mutiny on it.

Well they actually did. The episodes "The Child" and "Devil's Due" of TNG, and the plot of TMP were Phase II scripts first.
