From Yahoo! TV
Clark desperately searches for Brainiac, the only one who can reverse Lana's condition; Chloe, in her search for large power surges, breaks into several government computers; Jimmy gets caught between Lex and the Department of Security.

At first I filled out this topic as Season 17, Episode 7. Poor Omar if that were really the case.

Chimmy -- Full metal jacket.

Sort of like end of Labyrinth for an entire episode.
pyralis
Tell me, those of you who saw Season 4 or Promise, were they this bad? This may well be one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I feel embarrassed for AM & AA. I’m all about the well-done cheestastic, but this isn’t it. Someone was paid money for this hideous rip-off of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

“Man up” and Jimmy in the same thought - my mind she is blown. I guess Jimmy never saw that episode of Mythbusters where the sound of someone crawling through ducts is enough to wake the dead. Was that Dan Shea? Did poor Siler get zapped again.

New Lex minion - start the Death Pool now.

What’s the name of that movie where the guy hears his fireman father through the radio?

This is like the reverse of Labyrinth - the last 5 minutes are much better than anything else. And further proof of what I like to think of as the Dread “No words” rule.
ETA Sue, I see you and I had the same thought at the same time.

Oy. Caroline Dries is my favourite SV writer (at least when she's writing Clex episodes) so it pains me that this was such a filler episode. Seriously. The entirety of this episode could have been summed up in two lines of exposition.

And if an episode is purely a time-killer, I want more of Lex and Clark killing time. We got to see Lex look at his passport and pout when he learned his plane would be delayed. Why not watch him read a magazine on the flight as well? Or let's see Clark pass his waiting time in the Fortress by singing a show tune or two!

No disrespect to AA and AM – their dance scene was cute – but Jimmy betraying Chloe is implausible and Jimmy seeking help from Lex even more so.

On the up side: Krypton! Brainiac wants to kill Baby!Clark! Lex has a shiny new toy! Still no Lana!
carcassi
Yeah, the Clark/Lex/Kara/Brainiac arc here sounds interesting, but the Chimmy killed my interest right off the bat. The scene with Chimmy kissing was 'waay too much, especially after it was Jimmy who'd gotten Chloe into trouble in the first place in this episode. Too much Chimmy, too little Clark and Lex, and MUCH too little Chlark.
RepairmanBob
To steal an insult from World of Warcraft -

This episode is an epic fail.
- speaking of, it's canon that QI has one of the most powerful satellites in the world, and Chloe had to hack the government instead of getting access to Oliver's?
Downgrading this episode to a legendary fail.
scout1279

Frequency.
PolarB
Definitely Jimmy's episode, as was Noir, except we didn't get Clark in a wifebeater in this one. More's the pity. Really, the whole Jimmy/Vanessa/Chloe storyline was laughable, and that's all I'll say to that. It did, however, provide me with some truly good giggles just thinking about what the reactions would be.

Better points:
- the transcription of Kara's transmissions suddenly showing up in Swann's journal. And I could completely understand Kara mentioning Lana; she was the main reason Kara went with Brainiac to begin with, so it makes perfect sense that Kara would mention her, as well to make it stand out.
- we finally found out why Clark was popsicled! Thanks show, for only being about five episodes too late on that.
- Fortress scene was interesting. I wonder if Kara's transmission was shorting out the AI from responding.
- time travel!
- Chloe calling Clark Kal-El for the first time ever, I think.
- Lex in Zurich

Worse points:
- Oliver's stashing his stuff at Isis now?
- speaking of, it's canon that QI has one of the most powerful satellites in the world, and Chloe had to hack the government instead of getting access to Oliver's?
- speaking of, neither Clark nor Chloe even thought about searching satellites before now?
- Chloe and Jimmy's hacking/spying "skills" going off the charts and heading into utterly ridiculous territory

Honestly, the Lana stuff didn't bother me that much as it didn't really take over the episode, and frankly, I can't blame Clark for being upset about it and focussing on it, because Lana is there. Overall, Hero was worse, imo.
Scry

I totally missed that. Why was he popsicled!?

Chloe mentions it when Clark first brings up going back to the Fortress - he wanted Clark to outlive everyone he cared about. No mention of Chloe and Kara's visit afterward, though.

Bless you folks on the Canadian thread for taking the hit for the rest of us.

Forget Chewbacca. You guys are the real wingmen.

the transcription of Kara's transmissions suddenly showing up in Swann's journal.

This was one spot that made me giggle instead of laugh at, which was mostly what I was doing (between the eyerolling). If you're going to "borrow" from HP, then at least acknowledge it as they did.

I hate to say this, but after seing Clark's behavior this week ("Screw Brainiac! Screw Lex's Clark Remote Control! All I care about is Lana!"), Hal 2.0 may have a point.

OK, that make me a little sick.

There was a lot of giggling going on over here, too tonight.

On another note, Stride has not abandoned us! More product placement at the club scene.

Agreed. Also, I think Chloe may have died to me tonight. As much as I've defended and supported her, I just don't see the point at this stage.

Yeah, i am NEVER watching this ep. Thanks, canadian folk.

Watch the last five minutes....that's when the plot happens.

Reading what you guys said, I mentioned to my daughter that I thought I'd rather have a dumb, filler ep featuring Chimmy than an infuriating ep featuring Lana/Clana. When I remarked that it was said upthread that it was a "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" knockoff, she said: "You know, I bet they originally intended that to showcase LANA! Think about Angelina Jolie in that film..." And I thought, and, yeah.

Guys, this could've been a Clana ep instead of a Chimmy one. Let's thank our lucky stars...
DonnyMarie
So it's implied that Chimmy had sex, given that this was unplanned, chances are high it was unprotected sex. Could a baby(or a potential scare of a possible baby) be on the way for Chimmy?
holtz

I hate Chimmy FAR more than i hate Clana. Clana shit i can FF through, Chimmy ruins my favorite character and destroys one of the last reasons why i'm still watching this show.
Dread

Only until they retcon it into Jimmy feeding her hormones because he was afraid she'd leave him for Clark.

I think that's about as likely as Nois getting an STD from Grant. On the other hand, they are in Nois'/Talon apartment, right? I'm sure she'd be prepared and having the necessary supplies should Chloe have needed it.
nwp01

I HATE this show right now.

Chloe is not Lana. Nuff said.

Who would have thought that Clana would have been the lesser of two evils, or rather, one ep of Chimmy like this is enough to make you gag like you've been gagging on Clana for seven seasons.

Chimmy ruins my favorite character and destroys one of the last reasons why i'm still watching this show.

Clana is mind-numbingly boring but the point being you're numb to it, especially when Lana is hovering on the edge of darkness, however Chimmy? Is just bad because it ruins Chloe, while Jimmy still remains a dog getting away with everything.
PolarB
I'm sure she'd be prepared and having the necessary supplies should Chloe have needed it.

I'm sure Chloe would be pretty damn careful all on her own. But yeah, I highly doubt unplanned = unprotected.

But, the sad and tragic part of this is that this is what the show has reduced the Chloe character and the viewers to--discussions about Chimmy having or not having sex while Chloe looks like a damned fool in the process. When you consider all that could potentially be explored in an episode to move the characters and the show along, lucky SV viewers--more Chimmy with Chloe taking Jimmy back. Again.

I would hate for the viewer to see something truly set up for the episodes ahead or for the plot to actually make any sense. Instead, we get Jimmy "Goldfinger" Olsen, DP ninja all dressed in black, betraying Chloe, later guilt tripping Chloe for forcing him to betray her and then JO possibly scoring him a hunk-o-Chloe at the end. Sheez.

But oh! Don't you see how much fun this could be?? Just wait until Kara comes back! Then we'll get to see Jimmy be the babe magnet and try t get under Supergirl's little skirt! I can't wait for the exciting plots to follow!

It is already a Clana episode - Clark isn't doing shit in the beginning because he is moping over Lana, OffscreenKara has to use Lana as an lure to get Clark to the FoS... plenty of Kara.

This is in addition to more of the hated Chimmy crap, which just serves to make Chloe that much more unlikeable.

How much does this episode suck? I like Lois more just because she is not in it.

ETA: Maybe that is the plan? TPTB are using Chimmy to make Chloe unlikeable, so Lois looks better by comparison? Because that would be genius. Evil genius, but genius none the less.
Josy
Chloe I love you girl but if you continue to act this way well my love for you will DISAPPEAR COMPLETLY!!!

Thanks for the warning guys, I HATE Chimmy with a passion so I refuse to watch this two making out (ewwww!) on my TV. I also refuse to see Clark in Lanamode again! At least I can watch a new Ugly Betty episode!
Empire753
This is basically a Pro Jimmy and Lex episode where the Lana's destroyed characters. Lana destroyed Clark, while Jimmy destroyed Chloe.

Agreed. God, I hate this. At leas the bright side is, not only did they make Clark look bad, now they made Chloe look bad too. All for Jimmy. Seems to me, Chlimmy is the relationship change in Apocalypse, I mean Chlimmy is their new Clana

So true. And that's killing me. Don't you dare ruin my favorite character, Smallville.

Well, from what you guys are saying, I should tune in tomorrow at what - say, 8:45? I do like the time travel concept, with Brainiac trying to off baby K before he can ever make it to Earth. I have to wonder what Clark will or can do about this - maybe we see in Artic.

I can see it now - Clark shows up on Krypton in a DeLorean, and Brainiac comes up, slaps him on the head, and yells "McFly!!!"
nwp01
which just serves to make Chloe that much more unlikeable.

Sometimes I just..wonder. I know that the world does not revolve around Chloe...certainly not Smallville, so maybe this thought is just too far out there.....

But I just wonder if they realize how Lana and Jimmy make fans just hate Clark and Chloe sometimes...even the fans who have always loved them. I mean, how can they sit at their desks, and think it's ok to write shit like this?? I haven't even seen the episode yet, but I know I'll need to go to the Bitterness thread after to vent.

Just from the clips, and reading what posters write, I already see that mentions of Lana totally reduce any progression Clark had in past episodes, and the Chimmy just dumbs down Chloe to new low levels. What kind of character sabotage is going on with these two??? I just cannot understand how they could write the script, and think this is acceptable.

Do they really have any clue as to what fans think? Or do they totally know and just want to get the us all riled up? Either way, this is crap.

Goughlar and company: I already suspected that you didn't care about Clark at all...maybe not until your 10 episode arc of glory. So while I am highly disappointed, I'm not surprised. But if this is your way of getting rid of Chloe-by making her unrecognizable to her fans, changing her from the strong woman she was, to a love sick sap and a rag doll for Jimmy to play with, so we begin to not give a shit about her, her goals or her freakin' self esteem, because she doesn't-then, be merciful to us, who held on for so many years for something more....and just kill her already.

Do it this season, and let AM go with some dignity for her character-because I won't stay for the trainwrek of Chimmy. I suffered enough through Clana, and cannot stomach repeat performances. If this is where Chloe is going-then I'd prefer for her to die.

Dread will need copious amount of alcohol for his rundown. And I can't wait to read Omar's recap of the dance scene.

TW's hair looked... less super tonight. I'm hoping it's temporary.

I'm glad we got acknowledgment that the purpose of the big freeze was for him to outlive his loved ones.

WTF on storing Oliver's gear at ISIS? Are they running out of prop rooms? I sense a need to use Oliver's gear coming up soon --- hence the move.

And no acknowledgment by Clark of Chloe taking a beating is just wrong. After the big fuss in Siren? They are playing the fans like a fiddle.

And the Lex "no strings attached" lie... puhlease. To quote Bartok, "This can only end in tears."

For the anti-Chimmy... perhaps Chloe was still in Mata Hari mode and slept with Jimmy to distract him ... It speaks poorly of her (of course) if that is what she was doing. Personally, tho, I think she is going thru her own crisis right now. Lost her job, nearly imprisoned, about to lose her boyfriend, good friend in a tortured catatonic state, BFF alien nearly blind with panic and about to be controlled by Lex (her favorite moral pigmy). Chloe acts like she's got it all under control but she should be pretty freaked right now.

Still, the Lex string is going to have to be resolved --- and since Jimmy is now firmly in Hero-space (despite being a dog... he cooked for Chloe, he risked imprisonments, he literally fought for her, and now he has indentured himself with his evil Boss) I expect a confession in Quest or Arctic -- perhaps Chlark turns Jimmy into a double agent.

Also, and although I know it will not happened, Clark needs to at least discuss telling Jimmy w/ Chloe. Something along the lines of "if you ever get married to someone, he'll have to know". I appreciate this is only a minor plot hole but keeping Chloe's significant other in the dark truly strains credulity.
kenm
I think part of the reason Chloe and Jimmy's relationship is so queasy making is that it's Clark and Lana, just in hyper fast forward. It was bad enough watching Clark and Lana go through seven years of "will we or won't we" "stop lying to me and tell me your secret or I'll go behind your back", blah, blah, ad nauseum. Chloe and Jimmy have to go through the whole damned dance in one episode. It's natural that it should make us sick to our stomachs.

My Chlois-y heart did like the fact that there were two repetitions of the line "Chloe Sullivan is not who she says she is". Also, Chloe is now officially on a government shit-list (or at least, will be again once Jimmy refuses whatever nefarious act Lex will require as payment) and therefore in dire need of a new identity.

Of Jimmy being James goddamned Bond, let us not speak. Actually, no, let me speak. How is it that Jimmy, in real life is more competent as an action hero than Jimmy in his dreams was in Noir? Writers, are you paying attention to your own show? I did like that Chloe diverted him with her fake scheme.

And finally, does anybody have a theory on just exactly what that doohickey was that Lex found? Presumably it will point him to the North Pole when he holds it up to the V on the window in his office, or some such foolishness, but are we supposed to understand what it does?

Next week, at least, should be good.

No.

Craig, can we take that no to also mean they didn't have sex? I might just decide to take it that way on my own, but it would be good to have it validated.

A review/recap of "Sleeper" can be found on this site.

ETA: I hate the Chimmy as much as the next person but Clark's Lana obsession overshadowed everything for me.

And I really hated that Clark kept blaming Jor-El for Kara's predicament when Kara flew off with Brainiac. I realize it was an attempt to trick the viewer to thinking Jor-El is behind everything, but I thought it just made Clark look dumb.
RepairmanBob
Thanks nzs.

Oh for Zod's sake this is even worse than I could have imagined. Jimmy Bond? Another Chimmy resurrection? Clark showing a level of Lana obsession that makes Super Wife Stealing Man seem reasonable? This episode makes season six look good. If not for a few minutes of Lex's continued competence it would be totally and completely without value.

I can only imagine what kind of hit the ratings for Apocalypse will take.

I hate Hal 2.0, but even I thought that was dumb. There are so many reasons to hate AI Daddy, and Clark picks the one thing it has not done?

I know there are meta reason why TW could not be around, but why not do another Lex-based episode? Or at least move Lex to the A plot? I hate Jimmy and Chimmy, but a strong A plot for lex based around the box and its contents would have helped ease the pain. Instead, we get the annual Jimmy-centric episode, and my patience for the show takes another hit.
Eurybia
I know there are meta reason why TW could not be around, but why not do another Lex-based episode? Or at least move Lex to the A plot?
Well, Michael Rosenbaum might be leaving.

Oh wait, that would be a reason FOR making this Lex-centric.

Lex has just killed his father and taken a step toward his iconic destiny?

Nope, that would be a reason for it to be Lex-centric too.

Hm. The PTB are stupid?
apeygirl
I vote for that last option.

I am bitter.
Orestes96
Thanks again, nzs!
Clark repeats that he doesn’t care about Lex.
Oh, Clark. That's been obvious for the last four years. I like Clark better when he keeps his mouth shut.

Also, I laughed really, really hard at Jarnelle's SOS for Lana. Just sayin'.
Lex has just killed his father and taken a step toward his iconic destiny?

Nope, that would be a reason for it to be Lex-centric too.
Yeah, who cares about one of the biggest moments in Lex's life being followed up properly when I can watch Jimmy investigate and listen Clark whine about Lana? :/

Oh, Caroline Dries. You were my only hope after "Descent" to make things right with Clex and you failed.
MartaDolores
Thanks for the review, nzs.

What's funny to me is that Jimmy needed directions to get to the Kent farm. He's spent time in Smallville with Chloe, *and* dated Kara, but he didn't know how to get to the farm? Given his obsession with the Chlark, I'm surprised he wasn't spying on her visits there already.
