TV Guide sez:
West encourages Claire to teach the snobby head cheerleader a lesson; Alejandro is wary of Sylar's intentions toward Maya; H.R.G. hunts for the last of Isaac's paintings with help from his Russian mentor; and Hiro struggles with his feelings for Yaeko.

Okay, did anyone else crack up when Peter asked his lady love why she wants to go to Canada with him in search of Elle and Caitlin was like, "TO KILL THE BITCH!" I swear that was melodramatic bad acting at its worst.
In other foreign news, HELLO Ukrainian-speaking HRG. As if you couldn't be any hotter (and more bad ass)!
But beyond that, the total lack of Nathan (who makes the show for me this season) really took me out of the episode (which wasn't that bad, really.)
Next week looks wicked.

The Claire SL may have been pointless and did nothing to advance the overall plot, but that's definitely the kind of stupid-ass shit I'd be doing if I was a teenager with powers.
Good to see HRG's not going soft.
Looks like we finally have an arc for the season.

That was SO Jessica, not Niki.
Also: The more Bob seems sincere, the more I'm sure he's Eeeevil.
I can't believe the Sylar plot is one of the more boring ones.
Adam? I HATE the number of players in this.
So... Dead New York still exists? Oh, I see. This is a NEW Dead New York.
Are we supposed to conclude that Peter has FINALLY used Hiro's power? It seems like he has more trouble with that one than most.

Ooh, I'm getting a definite Christian-Slater-in-Heathers vibe from West tonight. I don't like it for Claire and Papa Bennet.
OK, show. Where's Nathan, damn it?
So, what's with the liquid man HRG and Ivan bagged? That's pretty nifty.
HRG remains the niftiest character ever. "I know." So sad.
I want Monica's iPod!!! With the ability, of course. I think it's neat how Mohinder appreciates that Monica loves her ability.
It would suck a little to be a teleporter with a memory loss.
So, was that pure Jessica, or some integrated version with a hefty dose of Jessica? Because that was not Niki. Ali Larter is good at this; you know which one she's supposed to be.
I finally get caught up (28 episodes in the last three weeks) and Season 2 is getting good!

HRG is badass again, yay!
West continues to annoy no end, he needs to get lost ASAP. however, I loved the fact that Hayden did all her own cheerleading stunts.
Also, how old was that stock footage of NYC they used at the end there? The TKTS booth was still in the middle of Times Square!
Not much else to comment on, not really an outstanding episode but clearly a set up for next week.

Is it my tv or is the green screen getting worse? The end scene with Peter was really bad IMO. Loved HRG being all evil like he was at the beginning of the series, and I particularly like the pictures as a story telling device. Good epsiode I thought, a lot more development. I'm glad mimic girl is alright too.

Even the Hiro storyline didn't irk me. HRG pistol-whipping a guy and being all-around EVIL just made everything, even stupid Claire-shit better. Monday needs to get here NOW!

When Noah Bennett speaks Russian (and it was definitely Russian throughout that segment, not Ukrainian), he sounds like Schwarzenegger speaking English. It was pretty funny. For the sake of nitpicking, he didn't say, "You were my friend," he just said, "Ex-friend."
The part where they cut away from Hiro's Adventures for 30 seconds of Mohinder was really weird. Why not just put that Mohinder scene where it chronologically went, after he told Tobby he was leaving? Very strange editing choice.
Awww, David Anders. Don't worry, I still love you!
I like that Monica didn't tell Mohinder of the company about Micah. Shows she can be discrete and trustworthy.
When Sylar started monologuing, it made me roll my eyes. Maya is like two feet away, Sylar, you probably don't want her to hear you.

Wow, Noah's a badass. (In case we didn't know that already.)
Overall, I liked it. I didn't quite see the point in the Claire/West/Debbie thing, but it was entertaining to see them use their powers that way. Monica was adorable as ever, Mohinder finally came through, Bob is SO shifty, and Niki finally gets to do something. Hopefully. Oh yeah, and Peter and Caitlin went to Canada for about a second.
No Matt/Nathan, but eveyr character misses an episode here and there.

I hate the Yaeko/Kensei/Hiro triangle. Apparently, Hiro and Peter can't spend two minutes with a woman without falling in love.
Mohinder is seriously, freakin' gorgeous. I can't quite get over it...
Damn, HRG bringing the evil. I'm so...confused.
Niki and Mo? Cool.
Isaac....Bring him back, please.
"The name Adam doesn't ring a bell" Uhhhhh, what part of amnesia don't you understand?
Finally, some purpose to the season. I just wish it didn't feel exactly like S1.
Also, are they reclying plots now? Claire and cheerleading, Peter discovering powers and seeing the future, HRG killing people, Hiro on some journey, Niki joins the team, only this time it ain't Linderman's.

I was terrified for a minute for Monica- they'd take the collest female character they have and neuter her. That would have been sad. However, I did (on livejournal) postulate that a video ipod loaded with handy clips (or an iphone with access to youtube) would be a useful, useful tool for her.

I like to do these crazy stream-of-consciousness reactions to the episodes, so here’s another.
Awesome title placement.
Have I ever mentioned how much I detest cheerleaders? They’re grossly spunky and freak me out. Boo to the one-dimensional Debbie and her anvilicious EXTRA-ORDINARY speech. What is she talking about? We need cheerleaders who are EXTRA ORDINARY. That’s a stupid way to pronounce it. She’s negating her own point. Oh geez I hate that West snothead. I hope he dies. Wait a minute, am I the only one who noticed Creeper’s face when Claire asked about his parents? Skeevy! And he won’t stop talking about his damn powers. He’s scaring me. Ooh, I hope Claire punches Jackie I MEAN DEBBIE in the face. Okay, I think the West and Claire ripping off Micah’s move in the online comic was kind of cool, but what did they prove? Also, whatever the hell happened to I Know You Can Heal But I Never Want To See You Hurt? West is evil! Ask to meet HIS parents, Claire. Figure that one out. Claire was right, she’s a terrible liar. Though Debbie has been pwned. I kind of like that Claire is beasting on the head cheerleader, but I liked it better when it was punching her in the face for calling ZACH gay. You guys, remember when ZACH texted Claire and said he was throwing rocks at her window? I miss that boy.
Mohinder is pretty. I love Monica and her WTF face when Bob first walked in. No Bob DON’T TAKE MONICA’S POWER TAKE ANYONE ELSE’S! Ugh Mohinder I love you but you are SLOW. Dear Heroes, why are you taking the one character that we love and whose power we think is awesome and making it go away? Can’t you do this to someone else, like maybe Creeper West? Haha, Monica just said “fo’” instead of “for.” Also… Whoa, Mohinder just grew a pair right before my eyes. Adam Monroe? I kind of think Bob has a crush on Mohinder. But, you know… who doesn’t? Dang, I wish The Company would be ME an iPod… zomg I think I know what happened to the oiPods now! Hahaha the Company is just like Oprah, you’re totally right, Monica. Totally right. Oh, dear, that is NOT Niki. Niki’s hair has never looked that good.
Why is this other language in the yellow Spanish subtitles? And French was too! Not cool. I want all the subtitles to be in different places and colours for each language. That would be amazing. AHH HRG IS MADE OF AWESOME AND I LOVE HIM AND HE SPEAKS MANY LANGUAGES WHICH EQUALS WIN. That little blond Ukraine kid had ridiculous hair. As for Bennet and Haitian’s badassery, I have no words. Andre and Mikhail? Is that the Ukraine equivalent of Bob and Bill? Argh, I thought that was my cell phone going off… and it was HRG’s. Weird. The same thing happened when Mo’s phone went off earlier in the season. HRG, you big meanie! Why is this tied-to-the-chair guy more worried about losing his memories of HRG than his wife? Oh geez, HRG is intensely crazy badass hardcore insane vicious cool! Hardcore. Oh, HRG, Sandra doesn’t appreciate you (probably because you don’t TELL HER ANYTHING, but that’s beside the point) like I do. Paintings!
The Rogue! Sylar’s first line being the coolest ever. Alejandro, you silly, don’t fall asleep! Your sister is going to fall in love with Sylar before you wake up. Why does Sylar keep talking about Dr. Suresh? Doesn’t he remember killing him? Is he talking about Mo? How can Mo help him get his powers back? …Maybe I should take this to the HoYay thread. HAHA OMG SYLAR JUST TOUCHED MAYA IN A MILDLY LOVING WAY AND MADE ME GLAD GLAD GLAD. Best pairing EVER. SO MUCH LOVE! *dies* Wow, I’ve never seen Alejandro smile before. Such a pretty smile everyone in that car has. Yes, yes, yes Maya used her powers for evil and my life just got better! Hot. Hey, when were Maya and Alejandro apart long enough for Maya to learn English? Aalso, Sylar just said her power was delicious. Which is hilarious. And he also said he would kill Maya, and that makes me want to cry a little. Laughing at Alejandro’s face after Sylar’s speech.
Oh, darling Ando, cute, stupid, and boring. And TPTB have been reading our boards and give us a sword fight—d’oh! NVM, Ando just made us backtrack. Damn you, Ando. What? They showed us part of a swordfight for two seconds and now they’re making us watch Hirano de Bergerac for a million years and his boring boring love for Yaeko. Loony not happy. You guys, Hiro has so much more chemistry with Kensei than Yaeko. TISH! That scene where he got stabbed and was just like, “Tsk tsk” was AMAZINGLY COOL! And hey, guns! Now Hiro has something to do in the past… except he doesn’t. Wait, why doesn’t Hiro STOP TIME and destroy the guns? D’oh. Um, Hiro, to explain the sudden time and/or space leap all you have to do is tell Yaeko she fainted. Hey, Roxanne just realized that she loves Gerard Depardieu! You guys, this show cheapens “love.” Oh no, Kensei, poor baby. Ando, that guy has no idea what you’re talking about. I kind of want Kensei to stab Hiro. That would be… oh, he punched him! Also good. WTF KENSEI?!? WHAAAAAT?
Hahaha, Peter is so useless I actually forgot he was even in this episode. And if William Shatner or Leonard Nimoy lives in this Montreal house I’m going to cry. With joy. ADAM?!? What is going on?
“We’re in New York.” THANKS FOR THAT, PETER. THE FACT THAT IT’S TIMES SQUARE DOESN’T GIVE THAT AWAY AT ALL.
Oh geez, another 5 Years Gone? Really?

Now THAT is what I'm TALKIN' BOUT, Heroes!
Loved seeing Ivan from the graphic novels, even if he was played by That One Dude Who Always Plays a Vaguely Menacing Eastern European, and I loved that H.R.G. was willing to be so ruthless with him.
Even the Wonder Twins didn't bug tonight. I adore that Maya clearly wears the pants in the brother-sister dynamic. And even though I've never been a huge Sylar fan, Quinto's acting gave me chills tonight. That man defines sinister.
Hiro betrays Kensei, and Kensei betrays Hiro...this is an interesting twist to the story, and I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
And even Claire, whose storyline has been dragging, had a bit of fun tonight. Overall her plotline still feels like a retread, but I enjoyed how she and West kind of gleefully used their powers to put Debbie in her place. I'd love to see more of the characters using their powers in everday situations instead of reserving them for Saving the World only.
Loved the return of Mohinder's balls. Kickass Mohinder is a hell of a lot sexier than Deer-in-the-Headlights Mohinder.

Claire might become morally gray like her dad if she keeps these little schemes up. That whole prank could have turned out so much worse. I can't imagine what would happen to my mind if I saw someone hit the stairs like Claire did.
But seriously, all I kept thinking was HRG speaks Russian? Who is this guy?

Oh, dear. I've been a S2 apologist but the pace seemed very slow tonight.
Very foolish of Claire to risk exposure over a silly trick; very foolish of Mohinder to make a stance he can't back up with the Company. Monica should be asking a few more questions and the black-eye twins are mad to trust Sylar.
This episode desperately needed a few of the smart, cynical people to give it a boost: Nathan, Ma Petrelli, heck, even Parkman.....I missed you.

The only thing hotter than Sylar in a tank top is HRG speaking in Russian. I don't know why but I squeed over that.
I was recording this while watching Dancing With The Stars so after that was done and I found myself fast forwarding through the Hiro scenes. How is it the character that was most fun last year because the one that is becoming a nuisance?
Good news and bad news about the Montreal front: the bad news is, the church is still in the wrong location. The good news is, the style of the street signs is correct. So...semi yay!

It sure seems that way, doesn't it?
If you go screwing around with virus mutation, it will come back and bite you in the ass. Still ... I guess it could be Maya's power and not what the Company is doing?
Claire needs to make up her mind. Either she wants to teach Head!Cheerleader a lesson, or she doesn't. Also? What was the point to all the hysteric dramatics? Why not just call the cops and let them know that some girls are drunk on school property? Lame.
As much as I adore HRG being badass ... it seemed to take a reeeeeallly long time to get to the end of that section of this episode. Yawn.
Gabriel is as eeeeevil as Bob is. Fun! Anyone else think that Alejandro maybe knows more english than he lets on?
Feels like Kensei is being set up as the big bad after all, with him turning on Hiro at the end there. Also? Yaeko couldn't be more annoying. Fickle much, honey?

For all that the WRITING of her stories typically sucks, that IS true. She's a good enough actress that you can tell the two apart. That wasn't Niki.
HRG kicks ass. Even as Claire gets lamer and lamer.
And as I said... I REALLY am starting to lose interest in Sylar's plot. Even if we KNOW poor stupid Maya is the cause, due to Sylar, of some Bad Ass Shit going on.
Interesting that Bob WANTS Monica to go all Superhero. Since there's almost no way he's got a good motive, I wonder what his true motive is. He never actually intended to have her power taken away. I'm almost sure of it.
Still ... I guess it could be Maya's power and not what the Company is doing?
I guess... it could be either. This is like the "who blows up New York" thing. They want to write more than one thing we need to be suspicious of. I suppose its possible Maya might be the Savior instead of the Eeevil. Then again, I'm STILL waiting for Sy to eat her brain. Someday.

Well geez, I

Surprisingly, Japan was one of my favorite storylines this episode. I like David Anders, but spoiled English brat Kensei can suck it.
If Kensei does turn out to be Adam Monroe, I love that choice of pseudonym. Adam = Original Man. Very fitting.
Also loving Stephen Toblowsky... he is so good that

Okay: so far this season does give me the vibe of randomness...but then I am reminded of last season of LOST, when I whined to my friends, parents, anyone who would listen about how nothing made sense and it all seemed sporadic and I thought they were losing it...and then Lindelof and Cruse gave me that finale. All was made clear, the grand plan...it was there, all along. So I beg of you, good citizens of TWOP, let us have faith in our writers. The best plot twists are the ones we never saw coming...but were right there under our very noses.
Although, I seriously can't believe Claire would be so stupid. If West isn't a company employee or some sort of rogue, then he is one dumb kid. Risking exposure to go all Heathers on the head cheerleader?

The endless Hiro storyline bored me to TEARS tonight. Hopefully that's the most of it.
No Nathan? What the hell?
Caitlin seemed way too accepting of her brother's death, which is suspicious. I just don't buy that she'd be okay that quickly.
Is anyone else really attracted to badass HRG? No? Just me? Okay.
Mohinder breaking the glass was awesome.
West still creeps me out. Although I'm really glad they totally stuck it to the cheerleader, although I have to say, do they always have to portray the head cheerleader as such a bitch? First Jackie, now this chick- I just wish they wouldn't go for the stereotype. (Small point, but still.)

I'm sorry, but this episode was terrible. The only good things about it were HRG and the paintings at the end. Also, the dialogue was waaay more clunky than it usually is:
"I will have your DEEEEELICIOUS power"
"You're like my own personal Oprah."
"Please tell me who I am. What the future holds."
"Of course my love."
West needs to die a slow, painful death.

"Baby, can you dig your man...?"
He's a righteous man! Hey, do you think this means Bill Faggerbakke will come back?
Is it my tv or is the green screen getting worse?
I think it's inconsistent. The scene with H.R.G. and The Haitian walking through the snow was pretty well done. The scene in Times Square was atrocious--a far cry from Hiro's first teleportation to NYC.
I did love the ending, though. Up until now, it's seemed like the virus only kills Heroes, so how is it that 93% of the population is dead? Or does the virus mutate? Or is everyone a carrier of the Hero gene and the virus targets that? So many questions!
