I just thought I'd start a thread about the GA's newest roomies. I like the dynamic for these two, being so different and yet similar in so many ways. It will be interesting to see where the writers are going with these two now sharing a space.
LollipopGal82
I can't wait to watch these two interact. (It's Cristina, no "H," though. [/spelling nazi])
NYCBadGirl
Great idea. This roomie situation should bring some great stories. I repeat, it SHOULD.

You're right, that's what I get for trying to multi-task.

I know, right? How bad is it that our faith in the writers has been shaken so very badly that we have to cover our eyes and peep through our fingers every week hoping for something good?
NakedMonki
Oh, I love these two together. They're scenes are GOLD. They need to write more...but then again, anything taht might be remotely good for the show is immediately thrown out the window lately...
asirnay
It's interesting how the parallels they drew between George and Burke are somewhat continued with Callie and Cristina. You know how Shonda is with her beloved symmetry. I love the idea that they bonded, but I'm guessing the roomie situation will probably be temporary one, just like it was when George was staying with Burke.
BNScrubNurse
I think they'll help each other grow and I seriously think it will last a while- them living together. I mean, it's no fun if Cristina doesn't have a roommate, and she can't move into the Youth Hostel.
NaMiO
I love these two - together and seperate! They had the best scene the other night, and I can't wait to see how their friendship develops. Like asirnay mentioned(LOVE your new fic, btw :) ::shameless plug::), it is interesting the parallels between these two ... wonder where Shonda is gonna go with this. (HOPEFULLY, not down the crapper w/ everything else).
mztgirl
I'd love to see a deep friendship develop between this two, it really shows that Cristina and Meredith are not a close circle, gosh I hated when Izzie said that, she's in "close circle" with George too, and how could she even say that when Cristina was the one that said that they should stick together after the LVAD wire fiasco.

Back on topic, Cristina and Callie had really good scenes on S3, the bridesmaids episode really show that Cristina considered Callie close to her.

Cristina: Hey, that last dress was ok, wasn't it? I mean, it was too tight and I couldn't breathe, but...a wedding's just one day, right?

Callie: Yeah.

Cristina: Yeah.
LydiaPurple
I am just really glad that Callie has a buddy. Girl deserves to have someone in her life that isn't George.
sardonic
You know, once I learned that they were sending Addison to Spinoff Beach, California, the part of it that concerned me most was the loss of the Callie-Addison friendship. I simply couldn't think of an organic way to make Callie part of the group. As Addison's friend, she's not going to buddy up with Mark and Derek. With Bailey, they get along, but there's some friction over the whole chief resident thing. Callie and Meredith... I think that there's just not that much in common there. I kind of feel that Callie never completely got over her initial negative impression of Mere after the whole crying sex with George thing.

Callie and Cristina, though... it's interesting, but it makes sense. Callie has more in common with Cristina than any of the other members of the gang, and given the recent drama in their personal lives, there's a kind of kindred spirit between them. Plus, the two actresses play off of one another nicely.

I couldn't agree more. I think the glue that will stick these two together is the fact that they're both mostly above all of the teenage antics of the other members of the brat pack and the fact that they are now in the "ex" club. Both Callie and Cristina are career driven women who allowed themselves to be "side-tracked" by men that they fell for, and now feel like they're paying the price for it. (i.e. the OR gigglefest "I'm going to be a divorcee" "I was left at the alter"). I think they'll both need to lean on each other quite a bit, since all the others are in the realm of couples at the moment and they are both still working at swallowing the bile of bitterness.
I think they'll help each other grow and I seriously think it will last a while- them living together.

I think so too. As you said, I think Cristina has outgrown living with the others and Callie would feel lonlier than ever if she had to live on her own again.
Happy Harpy
Callie and Cristina friendship is the only good thing resulting from the Golden Adultery storyline.

I heart Mere/Cris, but Mere has other people she is close to. I never saw Mere and Cristina as a closed circle, just two people who got each other and had a special empathy; so I think it's nice for Cris to develop friendly links with other people, too. Burke's departure isolated Cristina and after Addison went to LA Callie was stuck with the Toxic Ones.

This friendship is one of the first real improvements I can get from TPTB about the general quality of the show (characters I love kicking ass here and there were too superficial). I hope Mere/Cristina and Cristina/Callie can create a new axis, a new group that would little by little include Alex and Lexie.
Now, I would LOVE for Callie to be the friend who helps Cristina with Hahn; revealing her why exactly her patient didn't get his heart, for example...
theobviouschild
I also loved the OR giggling scene. It was a nice, cathartic moment to help both of them release some of the pain in a way that felt safe.

*whimpers* Please? That would just be so many levels of badass.

Also? Love the thread title.

Oh my. I could totally see that.

Callie: You know, I am surprised you even let Stephens scrub in, considering she stole the heart from your transplant patient.
Hahn: Wait, you mean STEPHENS is LVAD girl??!
Cristina just gives that "Oh god, I wanna laugh" look. You know the look she gave when George announced they got married. The same one she flashed when he told them Callie's middle name. Yep, that look.
Alienhead04
I was hoping these two would become friends ever since Christina was forced into asking her to be a bridesmaid. I really hope they do something good with this relationship. It's one of the few things I'm excited about.

As long as they don't have them sitting on the floor of the apartment eating cheesecake out of the box bitching about how much their love lives suck, *coughcough* Private Practice *cough* I'll be a happy camper.

I hope so too, Meredith and Cristina are okay, but their relationship alot of times is built around what their problem of the week is. I think Cristina, and Callie together will be different, yes the have their problems, but it won't always be just that. So they will be the in between, what Mer/Cris have, and what Callie/Addison had. Which I think could be really good to watch. I liked their OR scene this past week.
rogueprinzess
I just had to mention how much I liked the scenes with Callie and Cristina in the last episode. The whole "back off" through the side of the mouth convo was gold! I really like these two as friends.
BNScrubNurse
The growing friendship between them makes me wonder if there's going to be jealousy issues with Meredith.
NakedMonki
I was wondering about Meredith too. I don't know, the little things, you know. Cristina sitting with Callie for lunch instead of Mere and stuff. *shrugs* But I like the dinamic. They TOTALLY work.
rogueprinzess
I don't think Mer will be upset as long as Cristina is there for her when she needs it, and Cristina did tell Derek that she'd take care of Mer. If anything, I think Mer might like Cristina having someone else whose single to hang with when she's in McDreamy mode.

Meredith has self admitted abandonment issues, though. And thus far Cristina has really only spent all her time with her, so seeing how she handles Cristina having another person will be a hoot.

But friend =/= person though.

I don't think Meredith is going to care.
NaMiO
I don't think Mer is going to care, either. She's not Izzie. I think, if anything, the Cristina/Callie dynamic will bring Callie and Mer closer together. Thus leaving IzzMe out on her ass, friendless. Just like she was in hs (apparently) ... HAHAHAAAA!

No, but I really enjoyed the Calstina (YAY!) scenes this past epi. I hope we get some scenes with them as roomies, hanging out or at the apartment. Maybe have a party?! That would be fun! Would never happen, I'm sure, but still would be fun. Then Cristina would have to pick up her clothes.
Gibraltariana
I like Callie and Cristina's friendship. Their scene at the end of "Physical Attraction, Chemical Reaction" reminded me of Callie's scenes with Addison - sometimes only one sentence necessary. Their friendship is different from Cristina and Meredith's in that no one is sharing their deep, dark secrets or trying to work out their issues. They are adults who talk and give each other advice. I like that.

Oh, I thoroughly enjoy their friendship as well. The one sentence random bits of advice is nice to see. Cristina always gives the advice- never really receives it (not that she'd normally take it anyway) so it's definitely a change.

I can just see Shonda screwing with Cristina/Mer out of all of this because Mer can't have Derek and her person.

Yes, that's it! I was trying to think about what it was that made this relationship so very awesome besides the fact that I adore Cristina and have always liked Callie very much, it's that Callie is giving Cristina advice for a change. She's older, wiser, more confident aside from how weak they just had to make her look over Bambi and Izzie of all character. But she has always to me NEVER had issues with coming out and saying how she feels, I did feel that she would be good for Cristina, in that she's tough but she is NOT as guarded as Cristina is. She had a chip on her shoulder, buy hey who the hell could blame her if you ask me, but she likes to talk, and her feelings are not a secret and she definitely knows how to express them. I think she is a good role model for Cristina, Cristina still looks to me as someone who will always be looking for some kind of mentor, someone to teach her and at least Callie is not some Cardiogod or goddess and she can learn some very important life lessons from her IMO. I mean she had an in with Cristina the minute Cristina found out she had scored the top score on her intern exam. But I never found Cristina to have an issue with her, nor Meredith for that matter, we ALL know who had the issues with her and like some clickish high school bitch, she tried to rally the two other girls who won't even let her into their "closed circle" to gang up against Callie, glad they never really took the bait. Cristina and Meredith never went all out to welcome Callie as one of them, but then again, Cristina especially has NEVER genuinely gone out to welcome that bitch Izzie as some true friend. The point is I never found Meredith and definitely not Cristina to go out of their way to be mean to Callie and tell her point blank that she did not belong. Best part, Izzie STILL isn't in the circle and she never will be, mostly because Cristina has never warmed up to her, she just cannot relate to Izzie and she's not wasting her time trying to and I don't blame her.
NYCBadGirl

Meredith was pretty nasty during the whole "handwashing" incident. She wasn't openly making fun of her, but she laughed the loudest when Izzie did. But then there was the night when they were calling everyone "Ass" at the bar and George brought Callie. Meredith was the only one who spoke to her. Cristina just kind of rolled her eyes, which never made sense to me. I mean, what was Cristina's beef?

But then after George became a sex machine and Callie and Cris treated the marathon runner, there was a mutual respect there. After she asked her to be a bridesmaid, Callie was the only one that got Cristina's attitude about the whole thing. (No pink or baby blue, no flowers in my hair, no bow on my ass!) She was the one Cristina came to when she was having those doubts. "It's just one day, right?" I was ready for them to be friends at the beginning of the season, but for some reason, Cristina was giving her attitude right along with the other R2s. I am glad they realized the potential for great scenes there. I hope we get more.
sherryterez

I saw and heard Cristina say "hello Dr. Torres" and I knew quite well that she was not in a happy mood cause she was sulking over something with Burke. But again, my point was neither one of them went out of their way to pick on Callie, they did not from my perspective. When I say go out of the way to pick on her, Cristina nor Meredith NEVER made anything Callie did a topic of conversation first, that was Izzie. Cristina and Meredith are alway too busy with their own drama or Cristina's case, her career and then Burke drama to go to each other or Izzie and start up a convo. or make some observation or some snotty expression JUST to make fun of Callie no, that's all Izzie. In every instance it's her starting shit. That was my point when I said they have never gone out of their way to make Callie basically their pet harrassment project and that I had no issues with.

I was nor am, an advocate of Cristina which it would be way out of character for her, or Meredith to look at Izzie and tell her to stop picking on Callie, if that's what folks were looking for. Callie did not need anyone to defend her from Izzie, I did not feel sorry for Callie when Izzie was picking on her, cause I think Izzie is piece of crap compared to Callie. So, I just once again found Izzie freaking annoying and George pathetic as usual and was annoyed that a character like Callie could not have Cristina's attitude especially when it came to Izzie, in that she does not matter. That's how I see her, she does not matter, and that will not change for me no matter how important or some kind of force Shonda wants to try and make her. Even worse she's trying to make her a force by trying to bring other characters down just to feed and display her pointless bitchery, give me a break. She was never a force from season one and nothing has changed, she's just become more annoying on a show where Shonda is pretty much turning all the characters into just being annoying, including my the one I love the most.

At any rate, it's enough now for me that sorry as Izzie bitches and whines about the "closed circle" and Cristina still doesn't want her in ANY circle of hers. She turns around and opens the circle or breaks it and lets Callie in and I love it, one cause I just like Callie and think she's a good emotional/communicative influence on my dear Cristina and two I just hate Izzie. I think it's telling that Cristina is capable of having a relationship with another female friend as good as Cristina is at having any kind of relationship for that matter, but she just has no interest in Izzie.
NYCBadGirl

I had forgotten about that. She did give that exasperated response, didn't she? Classic Cristina. She is absolutely my second favorite character on the show, so I hope we get more out of this friendship pairing. Throw Meredith in the mix and I would be even happier.

I love Cristina also, and I am hoping that eventually Hahn realizes who the read fraud of the bunch is. When she told Cristina that she should take a cue from Izzie, that she's more attentive and inclusive all I could think was "Oh, she was very attentive to one cardio patient and she managed to include all of her friends in her mess!" I like Callie and Cristina's friendship in that they both seem mature, or want to be mature.
Nike
I really enjoyed seeing Callie and Christina at the bar, happy over the new place they were moving to. I wish that their friendship had a little more screentime but for now I'm enjoying the small moments they have together. Both of them laughing at the idea that Christina would want to live with Izzie was priceless.

I think it's interesting that even though Callie can clearly afford to have her own apartment (or buy her own house) she chooses to room with Christina—who is not considered a very warm and fuzzy person.

I don't blame Christina for assuming that the apartment was for her and Callie, why would she want to live with Izzie after that condescending "well, you're not a horrible person" speech? What was she expecting Christina to say? “Why, thank you for deigning to live with me, oh Queen, it would be a privilege and an honor.” Last time I checked, Christina never slept with anyone else's husband, so get off your high horse. Christ.
Ciaoatutti
What cracked me up about that scene was Izzie started acting all flustered, and just kind of blurted out that she wanted Cristina to move in with HER - to heck with Callie and the fact that she and Cris are roommates. I mean, she had the same approach to Callie when she was married to George and Izzie wanted her spouse, but I thought Izzie had allegedly grown. Ah well
moonstruck10
Oh yes, I was too busy bitching about some other stuff, to at least give Shonda a bit of credit for having a really good Callie and Cristina scene for a change, one that I surely needed after Cristina's level 8 pain got merged somehow with Meredith's, go figure.

But I just loved that scene, Joe's has a dark setting cause well, it's a bar, but Cristina and Callie just seem to glow in that setting, in that scene.

And I do agree, cause I did like the Cristina and Izzie scene earlier on in the eppy, and the bar scene did not bother me all that much. But then when I thought about it, I was like damn, um, Callie lives with Cristina did you not think of that Izzie? Of course not, forget about not caring about Callie, we know that, but why does she assume that Cristina does not like her current roommate and that she would trade roommates just so she could move out from the reminder of Burke.

I mean if Cristina has money, and she does, and so does Callie by the way, clearly the two of them actually like living with each other cause they sure don't need one another to cover the rent. Also, unless housing is hard to come by in Seattle, I figure Cristina could find herself a place that did not remind her of Burke anytime she was ready.

It's just that Cristina does not think that way, it's something that a person like Izzie would have to bring to her attention and put in words that yeah living in Burke's apt. is not the best way to get on with your life after he left you at the altar.
bcbg25
Really loved the interaction between Cristina and Callie. Cristina's "hilarious!" comment to Callie while she was cracking up at Izzie's suggestion was great. These two have great chemistry and it makes me totally giddy to see them.
And it was 'bout damn time Cristina moved out of Burke's apartment.
VayaZ
I think it was a great move forward for them to get a new, bigger apartment together. If they want to continue to be room-mates, which they evidently do, it's great that they will have a place with at least two bedrooms. It wouldn't make sense for Callie to sleep on that couch for much longer. It made sense with the divorce and everything, but not as a long term thing.

I hope we'll get a lot more scenes of them together from now on. I think they are a good fit for each other as roomies, they don't seem to get on each other's nerves that much, from the little we've seen. I can't really see either of them shacking up with someone else of the characters. (Cristina and Izzie? It wouldn't have lasted more than a week.)
MisterE
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that Izzie was, once again, going after something that is Callie's. What is it about that blond haired idiot that makes her want everything that Callie has? She wanted her husband and wanted her to fail at being Chief Resident and now she wants her roommate. I'm so glad that Cristina didn't go there. I'm glad that she basically laughed in Izzie's face and didn't give an inch.

I love the relationship between Callie and Cristina. I wasn't a fan of Grey's and wound up watching all four seasons this summer. I have liked Callie and Cristina since their first few scenes together, specifically when they worked on the runner together and then cut his legs open. I like that Cristina has someone in her life other than Meredith and that she's not living alone in Burke's apartment because that would just be sad. And I love that Callie isn't alone, too. Cristina, in her own Yang way, saved Callie after her marriage ended. They had each other.

My only regret with this storyline is that we haven't seen much of their life together at the apartment, but it's obvious that they like each other enough to move into a new place together without a second of hesitation even though both come from money and could survive on their own. I love them. I hope we see more.

She'll probably be going after Hahn next...

I'm glad to see scenes with Callie and Cristina too. Be interesting to see how Yang reacts to the Callie/Hahn hookup.

Hahn may start being nice now that its clear Callie likes living with cristina.

I was hoping it would cross Shonda's mind to retire Burke's apartment before either Cristina or Callie started getting some action because I want the only people to have ever done it in Burke and Cristina's home to be Burke and Cristina.

Also excited to see the new apartment. Oh the things that fireplace will witness.
NYCBadGirl
I am not a huge supporter of the Callie/Erica thing, but I am SO hoping this two bedroom move means there will be an awkward Cristina/Erica morning after scene. heh.
Gaymo2
Me too, NYCBadGirl. Let's face it, if there isn't, it will have been a horribly missed opportunity for some shenanigans. Plus, I'd really like to see Hahn doing the "walk of shame", heh.

I'm happy that Callie and Cristina are still sharing an apartment. I like how their uneasy friendship has grown from Callie having said "I don't like you" all that time ago to now living with Yang. It seems like a natural progression.
orinkeats
Loved them again last night as well as last week. I hope now that Sadie is around and Hahn has left, these two characters can start forming a close friendship. Callie has Mark, but could do with a girlfriend to talk with. Cristina could also do with having a friend who is just as straight talking as she is, just to keep her in check now and again.
VayaZ
I really liked that Cristina asked Callie "Are you okay?" in such a sincere way. That really showed that Cristina cares about Callie, since she wouldn't bother to ask just anyone that. One of few highlights in this episode for me.

ITA.

I don't give a damn about Dr. Bra-Flasher-Self-Cutter. But, if her arrival on the scene means that she gets to replace Christina as Shonda's latest ongoing angst-issue in the MehDeh "romance for the ages", fine by me.

Because not only would I love to see Christina freed up to allow her plenty of time to explore whatever's in store for her with Owen, but Callie is my other fav female character on this show and I have always wanted to see her and Chris get the chance to interact as actual friends as well as collegues.

Last night's scene with the two gals in the bar with Mark was a great step in that direction.

Agreed. I hate Sadie with a passion but if she's staying for a while, at least let her serve this purpose. I just want Cristina away from anything and everything MerDer, at least for now.

I found the Cristina/Callie/Mark scenes refreshing to watch and I also think Owen and Callie have built good rapport these past two episodes and would like to see them become friends as well.
sapphicsalad
I wonder if Callie and Cristina will be shown growing closer now that Yang and Grey are arguing. Could be interested. Personally, I'd like to see Cristina have another close female friend and Callie seems to get along with her well. (Yang never seemed very close to Izzie to me)
MisterE

I agree. I really liked Cristina's concern over Callie when she found out that Erica had been more than just a friend. I like that she cares about Callie and it's obvious that she does. I would definitely like to see the writers explore this friendship more and with Sadicious (haha - Sadie!) being here for Meredith as her BFF ... I could see Yang gravitating more toward Callie. Or Owen. I'd be fine either way. :)

Sadly it looks that Sadie may get her claws into Callie next, so she will be spending time at cristinas homes.
