You know, a lot of people have had the opportunity to enjoy CBS programming in its prime. Some people enjoyed the early days when The Price is Right and other Mark Goodson (as well as other developers) productions were the norm. Summer vacation, the winter holiday vacations, and other off-days have never been better. And other folks are enjoying the current days where it’s just TPIR, but now Big Brother, Survivor, and TAR are apart of the fold. Finally, people have enjoyed both. In the end, everyone enjoyed having that day or those days off, slept late, and turned on TPIR. Until not too long ago, it would be the norm to turn on Bob going forward

Say you’re at home on a weekday, because you had the day off or whatever, but you haven’t been following the media. You turn on the TV to get to CBS so you can watch TPIR. All of a sudden you wonder what decade you’re in and have this feeling of surprise and ask yourself, “Where’s Bob? Who the hell is this guy? And didn’t I ask myself the same thing when Clive Anderson wasn’t doing WLIIA?” With the exception of the Daily Show, when someone’s been doing something for so long, change is inevitable, as well as the disagreement of the change. Overtime, you expect change, but when that change involves something that’s been in place to the point where you outlive a lot of people and outlast a lot of whatever else, that’s a different story. However, talk is cheap, so while you might not see someone destroy a prop or see someone put a lot of emphasis while pointing to the cameras, it takes a rather big star that’s been around for approximately two decades to replace a legend. That way, it’s easier to focus on the project and not who’s running it.

In conclusion, tradition is awesome! Change sucks, but it’s inevitable. That being said, it’s time to introduce myself as your new TAPPAG runner. This is Seabreeze, but you can call me Drew.

Thanks to It’sAllAboutTheGiants for opening the door for me to run the game this year. Boy do I have some big shoes to fill! Wow! This is going to be tough! Hopefully the game will remain as successful as has been the case for 5 years! When IAATG opened the door for me to run the game, I could not help but think back to when Norm had to vacate the SNL WU seat in favor of Colin, nearly 10 years ago, and the very first moments from that. Like was the case for IAATG stepping down, or Bob retiring after 3.5 decades, it was known, but if you haven’t been watching the news or lurking, it would become a surprise to that person.

It's such an honor to be able to run the game, and I really appreciate the opportunity. To run the games for all three of the big reality shows will be a challenge, but I'm up for it. Really, that won’t be the case until February, so this will be easy.

That being said, given that the season is one week from tomorrow, I guess it's time to get things started. Okay, off we go.

Welcome to the Amazing Race Players Prediction Game! The concept is similar to the Amazing Poll/Play-Along Game, although you could say it's the same thing under a different name. Seabreeze, can you clarify something on the season questions?

Do one's choices for the first week lock one in for the entire season (especially SQ 2)? Or will we be able to change our minds week-to-week? I know that was the case for the optional questions under the previous rules, but your discussion does not explain it. Thanks!

Oh, my fault.

For the new special bonus questions, especially SB1-3, your answers reflect the teams' placement within each leg/episode. In other words, when I asked how many males racers finish in the Top 3, I'm referring to how many male racers check-in first, second, or third within Leg 1. Also, when I asked to choose three teams that come in second, I'm looking for three teams that will check in second within Leg 1.

In answering your question, you'll be able to change your answer every week. Rather, you'll probably have to.


For the new season questions: The first one is actually a repeat of the TAR winners question. However, this one's locked in throughout the season, and the point-value for this question will increase for each participant based on how many times he or she wins each game during the season. It's the only time this question will show up. As for the original one, that hasn't changed, and people can change their selection each week.

As for the second question, you'll be able to change your mind each week. The point-values for the question will decrease as we'll be losing teams and thus, it would be a lot easier to get the entire question correct. Everyone will be able to receive points for each correct selection made. To be clear, SQ2 will appear during every game this season.

Way back in the first TAPPAG season (TAR3), when server space was at a premium and Whimsy-type threads were getting cut right and left, Seabreeze341 wrote me asking if it would be okay to start another game-related thread. Miss Alli had already given her permission IF it wasn't a duplicate, and after some swapping ideas back and forth, we really couldn't establish a game that wasn't. Instead, I sallied forth into my career as Creative But Erratic TAPPAG Administrator here, while Seabreeze341 set up a franchise running games in practically every nook and cranny of the boards. (Or are those just the nooks I look in? Seriously, I see his threads everywhere even if I haven't had time to play them.) So when it came time to stop adminstering this game and hand the reins over to someone else, I kept running it for a few near-disastrous seasons anyway, then I wrote my estimable colleague and offered him the job. I am pleased as punch that after all this time I could hand my baby over to someone who would love it and treat it like it deserved -- and by "it" I mean all of the regulars who have been by my side lo these many years, all those who have dropped in for a bit, and all of those who will stamp their tickets for the TARPPG going forward. I'm touched that even with total permission to start from scratch, Seabreeze chose to keep the same game with just a few tweaks (as per usual), and he's even started off the season with another old tradition: incomplete rule explanation and profuse apologies. Y'all, it's like looking in a mirror.

Right now, I'm having trouble connecting the source for the points distribution to this thread. In the meantime, I believe it's about the time I'd make mention to how much the questions are going to be worth. I've been thinking about it, and after several years of this game, IMO, it isn't fair to have the value of some of the points the same with 11 teams as opposed to 4 teams. When you guess who'll be Philiminated out of 11 teams, that's hard as hell. Whereas, with 4 teams, you have a 25% chance to get this right. Therefore, several of the questions will be worth more. IMHO, it's fair enough. Not all of the questions will increase in value, but most will, especially the big one that appears each week, but we won't know the answer until season season (TAR winners and $1,000,000 dash to the finish mat, definitely worth more than 50 points).

Finally, the bonus stuff!

I mentioned that while it was optional to answer the SB questions, I would maximize any attempts to answer them to best win the game. The reason why is because they serve as multiplier points. In other words, if you answer them correctly, rather than receive extra points, I would tally up your total score for the week, and then double your points, triple your points, and/or multiply them by 5. During this season and going forward, answering the first SB will double your score, while correctly answering both the second & third SB would triple your score, and then by answering the 4th and 5th SB correctly would multiply your score by five.

As for the boot order questions, each correct pick is worth (100 * the number of teams remaining in each segment). And for your weekly selections, your picks for the winners, runners-up, and third-place are worth more:

Third Place = 2 * (100 * number of teams)
Runners Up = 5 * (100 * number of teams)
Winners = 10 * (100 * number of teams)

The best thing about this is that barring something unforeseen, if you play the game each week and answer this question, you're guaranteed over 20000 points.

And last but not least, the prediction of who you think will win the game. Yeah, I already have this question in the regular section, but it's different. The newer one's locked in, and if right, will give the participant a score of 10000 at season end. It gets better! If you're right, each time you win the game, that value will be worth more. I'll get to that later.
