As with all other recapped/weecapped shows, this will open as soon as the episode finishes airing on the east coast.

Awesome, awesome, awesome episode. I can't remember the last time I have simply laughed out loud a whole lot at this show... but from Jujubees on to the end, I was guffawing.
snoopyiscool
Man.That was one depressing ending.

Skanky pigwhore! I especially liked Snoop Dogg Intern Resident Attending. And this whole ep was much more haha, if that makes sense.
mondlerlove
This show is awesome! It's so sad that it's the last season, it's still so good. I was surprised to be sad over Elliot and Keith's breakup. I couldn't believe it was over already the half hour flew by.
jt0225
After all these years, this show is STILL funny.

"Dame Judy Dorian" is an all-time classic and that whole skit had me rolling.
prodigalchicken
Great episode! The laughs are back. There's the touch of angst, but the laughs balance it out well. Loved it.
sometimes
Aww. When Elliot broke up with Keith in the opening, I made the exact same noise as the crowd inside.

Loved the nominations for the Who Caresies. I think that was as much for them as for the fans - as if we were watching the Emmys.

Poor Keith. When Elliot acknowledged they weren't getting married, a chill ran up my spine... I am much too involved with the show.

Although I felt it was a little off... it was tight, but, not much of the funny tonight. Maybe I was just distracted by the World Series. Now, back to the Sox.
samsnee
A lot better than least season's opener with the weird Cox hair and the Blue Man Group fantasy that wasn't a fantasy. But I hated Eliot this episode. So you dumped your fiancee when his family was in town, and yet you wish he would stop calling you names? She should have won that self-involved award.

But I liked Cox/Turk/Kelso storyline. I totally would have eaten a Take 5 though. And Janitor rocks as always.
shockey80te
"Morning!" Todd almost made me fall out of my chair.

I really liked this ep, but I was sad the whole way through. However, I hate that they did another stupid breakup with Elliot and Keith.

"Pig whore read... see it works both ways."

"You're face is like 5/6th beard".

Oh, BTW, I forgot... Suck it Tony Shalhoub!
Anabolina
Ya'll liked this episode? I thought it was boring, depressing, and not funny. But that's just me. I really liked Elliot and Keith together. :( Also, was that plot with the patient supposed to be funny? Anyway, I reckon I'll just DVR next week rather then watching live. :shrugs:

Beardface has the best delivery. It's so theatrical. Everything he says makes me laugh.

I really liked Joe even before the whole "we like Joe" aspect of that storyline started, because he had the best line of the episode: "You face is like 5/6 beard." I enjoyed that storyline a lot. I like when Dr. Cox is really motivated and not just a jerk, and I love him and Turk together, and the addition of Kelso to the team was great.

The Who Caresies were great. I usually don't like the fantasy sequences to go on quite that long, but this time it worked.

JD: "Who's named Lady?"
Janitor: "She is. She has a brother named him. So what?"

Good for Janitor. It's nice to see him getting some love.

Todd's T-shirt wasn't funny in and of itself, but the pay off ("Good morning!") was hilarious.

I'm so glad that Elliot did the right thing, both in not kissing JD and in telling Keith the truth right away, but after that point she handled things terribly, and I felt really bad for Keith.

I feel worse for JD, though. That ending made me sad. JD was a lot more real this episode than he has been for two seasons. It looks like they might get him back on track.

Great premiere! I hope this season is better than the last.
D.C.
I'm betting J.D. will realize he loves Kim by the end of the season. Which is semi-realistic and a happy ending both.
seasidebreeze
Well, I thought that was a half hour of suck with a couple of good lines thrown in.

Also, I normally love Eliot, but I hated her this episode.
Rhondavous
I was so looking forward to the return of Scrubs, but ... meh.

Beardface, The Todd, and Janitor were good, the Who Caresies were ok (Pig Whore was robbed!), but the rest of the time the eppy reeked of Trying Too Hard.

I wasn't too crazy about it either. There were some funny moments, but overall I thought it felt uneven and off.

Remember what Turk told J.D. in this episode? Turk said that the only person that J.D. dated that he particularly got along well with was "Mole Butt." Now think. Who was "Mole Butt"? ;)
GandalftheFunky
Haven't seen the ep yet (at work and too busy to tune in), but I know the answer to that one, Logos. :)
heatercat
I really didn't think it was all that good, though elements were funny. The humor was OTT.

The ending, however, was wonderful. It did remind me a bit of the first season-- it's always excellent when JD acts like a real human being and not some character from Family Guy.

I do hope the baby thing thrusts Dr Cox back into the role of JD's mentor again-- since someone has to tell that 'manchild' how to act like a father!

Plus, let me just say-- I love the line about how grotesque Kim's feet were. You know why? It seemed teasing earlier in the episode... and then after the reveal about what JD was really thinking (that he didn't love her, was just with her because he feels he has no choice), it takes on an entirely new meaning... I liked that. It was subtle and clever.
Jobo
In terms of funniness, I think this episode was the best the show's been since season five. Especially Turk, I forgot how much I love him over the summer. But as far as the plot was concerned... meh. The patient that Kelso wants to kick out, but that everyone else likes and wants to help? Kind of felt like re-re-re-re-retread ground. I like where they're going with J.D., but for some reason the ending didn't really sit well with me. I get what the effect they were going for was, with him repeating exactly what Turk had told him earlier, but I guess it just didn't work as well as they intended.

Still, I have high hopes for the season. If they can keep up the funny and get more interesting with the plots, I think it'll be super.

EDIT: Oh, and could someone enlighten me as to who mole butt is? I haven't watch seasons 1-4 in about three years.
emma675
I liked it--there were a number of moments I caught myself laughing out loud. And I always like when Cox and Turk work together (although my favorite will always be them teaming up to get the light bulb out of that guy's butt).

Has Dr. Beardface spoken before? I adored his voice and his indignation over the nickname.
JTrain
Mole-butt was Elliot
Logos
To the best of my knowledge, Mole Butt is Elliot.
Unsure

I'm pretty sure mole butt is Eliott - they did a bit on it in season 5. Loved this episode, definitely seems like this season's gotten to a good start.. and will hopefully redeem last year's mehness.
Canton Hero
Only to correct people on how to pronounce his name. Was that a different actor playing Dr. Beardface? I thought Dr. Beardface had a white beard.
tornado
Liked the episode and really loved the Who Caresies? Too funny.

I have to say I wasn't as upset over Keith and Elliot as I thought I might be..and I am a JD/Elliot shipper.

I do have to say karma is a biatch when Carla was talking about Keith having to hate Elliot for awhile...she was the same way towards JD when he "I don't love you"-ed her. (I try to forget about that stupidity but it is what it is).

I see an opening for JD and Elliot to get together and I like it. I know, I'm in the minority..I don't care.

I hated the Joe storyline. I just didn't get it. I almost thought he "liked" Dr. Cox at first. It was just odd.
Alienhead04
I thought Dr. Beardface had a white beard.

I'm not sure, but could you be thinking of Colonel Doctor?

I see an opening for JD and Elliot to get together and I like it. I know, I'm in the minority..I don't care.

I kind of see it too, but then I think about how much Bill hates them together and I think the opposite.
DCCrackMonkee
"Suck it, Tony Shaloub" made me HOWL laughing. As did The Who Caresies.

I thought Elliot was infernally annoying this episode, but I just can't get beyond the reoccurring "PigWhore" bit. Now I would never call myself a prude, and I'm quite proud of my potty-mouth, but there was something about this bit that struck me as gross and uncomfortable. I just didn't find the funny.

Other than that, I was loving it. And HEY! It's that dude from Judging Amy!

So glad to have my show back.
Canton Hero

Ah, yes. I'm getting my bearded men mixed up.
alynn
Elliot is a horrible person. She jerks Keith around, dumps him publicly, and expects him to still be nice to her? I think that Joe might have stolen all her likability.

This episode made me want to give it a Who Caresy.
Feberin
I really liked this episode. I also think there was a shimmer of hope that JD and Elliot might get together again even if they don't end up together. That whole sticking with Kim until the end made me wonder if they might do something tragic like kill her off or something.
Elen
I thought the Fun-Sized Intern (Resident?) thing was funny. "Oh, there she is! She's cute."
Sandman
I really enjoyed this episode. It felt pretty close to the heights of this show. The "Suck it, Tony Shalhoub!" was a classic Scrubs bit.

I have to say, though, that I was really hoping somebody (maybe Carla?) would give Elliot a reality-check: she really can't have it both ways - she clearly broke the Dudemeister's heart. Does she seriously expect him to just accept her as a friend? She's mad. And I found JD's final comment about not ever caring for Keith's farm-boy looks either callous or ominous.

By the "Dame Judy Dorian" moment, I was on the floor.

Speaking of reality-checks, can it be true that Mars Bars aren't made in the US anymore? (They are in Canada, and I'm pretty sure the joke was that Elliot lied to Gumball (hee!), but I thought I'd ask. No mention of Izzy, though: boo!
alynn
They still make Mars Bars, but they're called Snickers Almond now.
MooshyMooshy
t's always excellent when JD acts like a real human being and not some character from Family Guy.

Word. And hah! Bill Lawrence has said in interviews that he would like the last season to be in line with the first season - less crazy fantasy and a little more grounded in reality and I say - YAY!

I have to agree with Sandman...
I have to say, though, that I was really hoping somebody (maybe Carla?) would give Elliot a reality-check

Carla is going to win the Sainties award. She is so sympathetic and forgiving but sometimes your friends do need a kick in the pants. Elliot was not likable in this episode - her "pity me" expression has always bugged me but she is my favorite character. So I hated seeing her so self-pitying. Dude, you broke the dudemeister's heart...TWICE. Just like she did with the real love of her life - Sean. I LOVED her and Sean together (and even though I feel so sorry for Keith, I didn't like him with her). She did the right thing breaking up with someone that she doesn't really love, but why would she expect Keith to be anything but bitter and hateful towards her? Poor guy.

I also never really liked Kim so I'm glad that JD realizes that the past does affect the present. He'll never be in love with her but apparently that baby is ready to pop, so he's in it for good.

Hey- Janitor has a Lady! Hooray! And she's sweet sassy and I like her a lot.

Turk is the cutest chocolate bear ever "Jujubees!" Hee!
And I concur that "Suck it Tony Shaloub' is a great in-joke.
annlaw78

I think we're going to get a J.D.-Elliott relationship this season yet. They got rid of Keith, so the way is cleared.

Now they have to extricate J.D. from Kim. I'm thinking her baby arrives, and it's obviously not J.D.'s (i.e., another race) -- hadn't Kim just gotten divorced? I always found the conception-without-intercourse plot line hard to swallow. Technically, it's possible, but is it probable? We can't have our main character stuck in a loveless relationship the rest of his life. I could see J.D.'s still wanting to be helpful Uncle J.D. to the baby (and Isabella), but he'd no longer feel obligated to stay with Kim, as she's clearly manipulative and a liar, liar, pants on fire.

It's the only way I can think of getting J.D. out of this, that is even slightly humorous, though I suppose they could have Kim go crazy again and just bolt. But child abandonment isn't very funny, and it would turn the show into Three Doctors and a Baby.
blondie69
So happy this show is back!! Best birthday present ever!
I liked this episode. There were some great lines and such. (Knew I should have taped it.)
I was hoping that someone would give Blonde Doctor a reality check as well. You just broke off an engagement, of course he is not going to be happy with you.

They still make Mars Bars, but they're called Snickers Almond now.

They still make Mars bars in Canada too. Up here we call them Mars Bars. What is wrong with you people down there with no Mars bars?

(and yes, I realize that a Milky Way is more or less the same thing as a Mars up here)

Anyhow, great ep all around, although the Sports Fan thing was just very flat.
Nighthawkk1
I enjoyed this episode. It wasn't "roll on the floor" funny, but I don't think I wanted it to be at this point. I'm getting a little tired of the "Beardface" joke, I have to admit. Several funny bits - Dr. Cox calling Turk "Gandhidiot" was great! Also, Janitor's line of "wear a helmet" was funny.

All in all, I give it 8/10.

Oh, and I want to be Lady.
wiser9
Can someone clue me in on the Tony Shalhoub joke?
rulesoftravel
I really thought the timing was off and I hated Elliott breaking up w/ Keith the way she did. I don't want JD and her back together, because they work better as friends than lovers. Until they ruined Kim w/ the stupid miscarriage lie, I thought she was perfect for JD. I loved their first date.

And yes, I want Sean back-or the soldier who was injured in the war and who kissed Elliott. I hope it gets better.

Can someone clue me in on the Tony Shalhoub joke?

In 2005, Zach was nominated and lost to Tony for Best Actor in a Comedy at the Emmys. Also, Tony lost this year.
Kirakal
A ho-hum episode, but better than most of what we got last season. *Loved* the Dame Judy Dorian bit! I'm hopeful that they will get this show back on track.

Thanks to those who explained the Shalhoub joke. I didn't get that one at all. Was Snoop Dog Resid -- er, Attending -- the same fellow who played Snoop Doc earlier, or have they recast him?

When Joe said "Call me Joe!" and first beamed that big smile at Cox, did anyone catch Cox's reaction? I was all ready for a set-up in which Joe was gay and attracted to Cox, and Cox, who liked Joe "but not that way", was going to have trouble extraditing himself from the situation. I missed that call big-time.

Anyone care to speculate what will happen between Elliot and Keith? Will they be friends, or lovers (aside from tonight's one-off), or end up getting married after all in the finale, or...? I think it's safe to say that the Dudemeister will be around for the rest of the season one way or another.

ETA: Thanks to Nighthawkk1 for cluing me in below about the Jack-Joe thing.
Nighthawkk1

Do you mean the patient, Joe?

Does anyone know where I can watch this episode? I'm from Australia and our cable networks only show up to season 4. For that matter, where can I see seasons 5 and 6 as well? Any help much appreciated. Thnx :)

That was a serious letdown to "Comedy Night Done Right", and it's not even like the other three shows had stellar episodes.

I do have to say karma is a biatch when Carla was talking about Keith having to hate Elliot for awhile...she was the same way towards JD when he "I don't love you"-ed her. (I try to forget about that stupidity but it is what it is).

I couldn't agree with you more. Lord above, I've wearily grown to accept that JD's a self-involved manchild, but for Elliot to be this bad is still kinda new.

Ok I'm from Australia and we have Milky Ways and Mars Bars. The difference being Mars Bars have caramel... but thats kinda off topic.

Episode was ok, but most season premieres are. Its hyped so much that unless they have Colin Hay singing in the first few seconds its gona be a letdown. Is it just me or do they try new camera tricks at the start of every new season? It was very offputting for me.

And man Elliot was inappropriate in the episode. Back when JD and Elliot first broke up, she said to him "The problem is this place (the hospital). When we broke up the next day I had to see you again. I didnt get any distance from the relationship". And they were only dating. Keith is her fiance yet what she was doing was to make herself feel better, not keith.

Tiny residents voice was funny when it first came out, and the WhoCarsies awards were funny. I agree with whoever said earlier that they thought Joe 'liked' Dr Cox at first, and the Dr Cox came out and said he 'liked' Joe... thought that could be construed a different way.

All in all not a great episode, but not a bad one. I think it will be one that gets better over multiple viewings (god knows ill do that). And with Scrubs habit of picking up momentum as a series goes along, it bodes well for the final season of Scrubs

Hey JanitorAddict, I'm imagining that at the start of the Oz Ratings Season next year, when Ch7/Prime start showing fresh episodes of Boston Legal at 10:30pm on a Monday Night, they'll be putting Scrubs in the graveyard 11:30pm slot again.

Debating whether I'm going to wait that long myself though...
tone
And Mars bars are peanut free in Canada!

OK, back on topic, or more like a nitpick. Given the size of that lesion, wouldn't a simple scalp exam have discovered it, as opposed to shaving his entire head?

Glad Scrubs is back, but sad it's its last season.
ShepherdSquared
WhoCaresies. Priceless.

After all these years, Scrubs still makes me laugh and it still has heart.

The Dr. Beardface jokes I could do without from now on. Other than that, I am a happy viewer.
marxfan
Poor Keith. I was actually growing fond of Elliot's adorably submissive beau, and was hoping their relationship had a chance. Elliot's usually my favorite character, but I didn't like her in this episode either. Sweetie, when you dump someone, you've got to brace yourself for the consequences. Still, I hold the foolish hope that Sean will swoop in, profess his undying love to Elliot, and whisk her New Zealand (or wherever he is now).
