And here are our TAR12 teams!!!

I'm starting this ritualistic thread before the individual team threads go up. Mods may feel free to lock this if the team threads are up early this time.

I wish there were more teams from California........

Lesbian ministers -- my new favorite team!!!!
vydee87
I have no idea why this mix was initially described as "younger". There are four people who are 49 and above(a first for the race, I think). Cool to see two parent-child type teams, a lesbian team, a brother-sister team and different gendered friends who have no interest in being anything more than platonic. In other news, no alpha male team again.
davidcalgary29
Jennifer claims that she is a bitch, while Shana is simply bitchy.

Wow, what a fresh angle. Can we replace them, quickly, with Dustin and Kandace?

Representing the “Goth” community in Louisville has embedded a strong sense of “us against the world” mentality in these two Racers.

Okay, I'm already tired of these poseurs. Don't "represent", race! My vote for first Philimination.

In other news, no alpha male team again.

We do, however, have a multidude of dating couples who look like they have an endless capacity to annoy. Least promising seem to be Lorena and Jason. Or, at least Jason, from this quote:

He describes himself as courageous and volatile.

In other words, not afraid to throw a whiny baby tantrum on national television. Gah!
secretagentman
Is Jason my new TAR boyfriend? Am I sick of Ari already? Do I want the ministers to win it all? I Can't wait to find out!
Queszocoatl
I had to laugh when I saw where Team Marilyn Manson was from - Louisville, Kentucky! The state that brought us David and Mary now moves to the other end of the spectrum. Love it. And lesbian ministers? I look for mental fuses to start popping across the US soon after the start of the show on 11/4...

We also have the prerequisite "do-we-belong-together" couples (and history shows us that using the Race as a litmus test for your relationship is like testing yourself for diabetes by eating 40 Hershey bars), the uber-driven "first all-female team to win" pairs (although neither strikes me as too pleasant, which perpetuates the bad "only conniving women need apply" stereotype) and some interesting generational pairings - I may end up loathing the kid but I give Nicolas some credit for entering with his grandfather. I couldn't have done it.

Now then - can someone please wake me in about 11 days? Zzzzzzzzzzz...

Shana and Jennifer are the ones that said they're going to flirt their way to the finish line, right? And they describe themselves as intellectuals. Those two things aren't necessarily incompatible, but it does tend to work that way.

Lorena and Jason's bio says something about "cultural differences." Anyone know what those might be? I don't see anything there to explain it.

Did it take anyone else a moment to figure out that the Goth people were a male/female team instead of 2 females?

I am really hoping this doesn't turn into BJ and Tyler: Pretty in Pink
Wry Bread
Oh, Ronald, why did you have to wear that shirt?
I'm all atwitter about the two sibling teams, the (grand)parent-child teams, and maybe Rachel (Hippie Barbie 2.0, now brunette and flower-scented!) & TK.
This year the Race spans the globe from Ireland to Croatia

Raising the bar high, eh, CBS?

Yeah, I wondered about that too. Lorena looks Hispanic so maybe that has something to do with it?

Hee, I was momentarily confused too. And yeah, they're soo like BJ and Tyler except for....oh my god, they are BJ and Tyler!

...and maybe Rachel (Hippie Barbie 2.0, now brunette and flower-scented!) & TK.

They are giving me pleasant Kris & Jon vibes so that means they'll ultimately suck on the show.

And we go directly from the BQs to Shana & Jennifer? Boo! And the sisters don't seem that awesome either.

Kynt & Vyxsin...instant hate. First up, do real goths wear pink? Secondly, in the teaser, one of them said they were like cartoon characters. And I just knew she'd be spelling her name with a "Y"...but "Vyxsin"? And calling yourself "Kynt" opens up a whole new avenue of insults.

Jennifer & Nathan...dating couple? Is this the one with the problems? I mean, the yooge problems?

Ronald & Christina...I'm cool with the "Who's Your Daddy?" t-shirt. For now, anyway.

Shana & Jennifer...blonde girls that look alike from a distance? Thanks, guys! Gotta remember that Jennifer is the taller one.

Azaria & Hendekea...how long's it been since we had a brother/sister team? I want to say TAR3 with Tramal & Talicia, but I'm not 100 percent with that.

Lorena & Jason...super, I couldn't be the first Staten Islander to race, I couldn't be the first Staten Islander to win, and now I can't be the first "Jason" on the show. And another problematic dating couple? Super.

Nicolas & Donald...I hope Donald ceded top billing. Older/Younger is how it's done with the parent/child teams.

Ari & Staella...Flo/Zach II? Sorry...that was the snap reaction to the headband. Ari's hair looks a little better than Zach's.

Marianna & Julia...Marianna's got curlier hair. Oh, and check out this gem: "When asked which Teams they would model their game play after - they both choose past winners BJ and Tyler for their positive energy approach towards the game. As they put it , 'Positive energy creates positive results.'" Dead. To. Me. For now, anyway.

Rachel & TK...ah, I bet Rachel's just putting TK down there until she can find something better in that place. And I really hope somebody out there gets that joke.

Kate & Pat...lesbian ministers with a 16-year age difference. I know somebody from the casting department got a bonus by finding these two. And after one of them said that TAR was "a love letter to the world" in the teaser, I'm ready to root for them.
butheircousins
I guess the casting couch didn't get any further that California! It's funny that a show (which I really like) that travels around the world gets the majority of it's cast from La La Land. Is is just me who feels that way?
jm chen
Coming over from Media, since it's more appropriate here:

So much family! Brother/sister, sister/sister, father/daughter, grandfather/grandson... a few LA-based dating couples, but only a few. And Goths from Kentucky! And opposite-sex friends! And... the only married couple is a pair of lesbian ministers!

Best. Casting. Ever.

Hee! That's like New York City to Denver, CO. Exotic.
golfnutbucket
Croatia -- the new Asia!

I think the BQ second place finish is safe. I don't think any of the female teams are going to come close to them. Phil looks very stern in the CBS photo online. Might have had a rough night.

Shana and Jennifer are the ones that said they're going to flirt their way to the finish line, right? And they describe themselves as intellectuals.

Now comes word that Shana is the one and off girlfriend....of Seacrest.

I'll be in the corner laughing my head off if you want to jump in. My brother for some strange reason, is rooting for them. Me OTOH, think they have nothing on the Queens.

In other news...the lesbian ministers is the best tagline EVER, the Goth couple is going to be....interesting to watch, but some of the other teams I don't have a read on them yet. I hope father/daughter and grandpappy/grandson do well because we need a team like that to FINALLY do well on the show.
killercoconut
How big is Huntington Beach exactly? Is it possible these people could know eachother? From the drycleaners or whatever?
keram
Shana kinda looks like Daniele from BB8.

Squick. Now I have this image of Spermcrests surrounding the egg and chanting, "Seacreast, in!"

I'll start the new Racer threads today--thanks!

Ari & Staella...Flo/Zach II? Sorry...that was the snap reaction to the headband. Ari's hair looks a little better than Zach's.

Ari's descriptions as "catty. . .mean, rude, and hilarious" gives this team an Aaron and Arianne total lack of self-awareness vibe for me.

Surprised not to see a straight married middle-age couple. I guess Lesbian Ministers take that slot. Sorry to see the diversity doesn't extend to the usual band of dating mactors/bartenders.
carriedaven
Am I being a bit snap judgement here? I put down Ari and Staella as Gay Best Friends on my list.
Miss Alli
"My name is Vyxsin" and "My name is Kynt" are code for "call me whatever you want in the recaps." Because that shit is not getting typed all season long, I'll tell you that.
Haleth
Did it take anyone else a moment to figure out that the Goth people were a male/female team instead of 2 females?
Yes. I'm still not sure which is which. <snerk> Vyxsin? Seriously?
Kynt is a waiter at the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant.
Bet he's real popular with the clientele. Especially in KY.

Shana & Jennifer:
we care about what we look like and we're both intellectuals.
God. Kill me now.

Oh goodie. Lots of bickering couples trying to find out if they are soulmates, not to mention people self described as dominant, confrontational, volatile, and rude. Are we having fun yet?

Wow, the FL sisters are gorgeous.

The father/daughter team and the Lesbians seem nice. Jennifer & Nathan are like JVJ Lite and Ari & Staella remind me of Rebecca & Adam, without the antlers.

In other news, no alpha male team again.

I'm glad to hear that. I couldn't take another alpha-male team winning. However, all these alpha-couples . . .
