Well, it might be a bit premature starting this now, but I'm thinking it's going to be on in the first half of next year, so here goes!
Here is an article about our "jidges" and Natalie BassingWTF. The first shock for me - Nigel's
married?!!!!

You've been totally hanging to start this thread katisha! :)
I wouldn't have picked Nigel to be geigh but I certainly wouldn't have picked him to be married!
So here's hoping this doesn't tank and get sent to the doldrums of Ch Teen's viewing schedule.

I really hope this one works too. The format should help keep it on track somewhat at least, I like how the judges control it for sometime, a lot depends on how good the judges are - wonder what Mrs Lithgoe is like?
There are a whole lot of posters on the channel 10 forum going through auditions for this ( I go there to complain & for Torchwood).

I'm loving the American version and am hoping the Aussie one is just as good. Can't ever get enough of dancing. It will be interesting to see what sort of talent we have here.

Very happy to see this topic on here, hehe.
I'm okay with Nat Bass as host. I liked her on Neighbours and don't mind the Rogue Traders - but I have a feeling I may be in minority and that's cool, LOL.
I keep trying to get my friend to go to the auditions, if only for the fact that I would love to score tickets off her and stand in the audience with a really stupid sign like, 'KRUMPING FTW!!!!111'

I am glad to see there is no mention of David Atkins or Sheree da Costa here on the judging panel. I couldn't handle it. I am neither hither or yon on Natalie B has host

Carly, well, I'm neither here nor there on Natalie B just like pillboxhat, but I do like the Rogue Traders' music. It's particularly good at the gym!

Oct 24, 2007 @ 6:49 am
Hmmm, I'm reserving judgement on Natalie, but that's because I'm so enamoured of Cat. Although her dance experience is good to hear about. I don't watch Neighbours, and don't listen to "modern music' (well, I do, just not Rogue Traders) so I know next to nothing about her.
But the jidges sound promising...
And I'll third (?) the Nigel? Married? WTF?
Kess
Oct 24, 2007 @ 6:42 pm
Natalie was good on Neighbours she should be Ok would prefer Megan Gale, but grateful it's not boring Bree. I detest rogue traders ( they don't deserve caps) - although they were used effectively in Doc Who recently.
I really hope they involve some talented people like Graeme Murphy he's retired so has time, Chunky Moves people in Melb, Meryl Tankard, Aust Ballet, and some of the world class ballroom people.

[ot]kess I wrote a nice little complaint in the Teen forums the other day. The one stating that Ralph Wiggum is their programming Manager.[/ot]
We possibly could see some Wade Robson influence if he wants to scam a free trip home.
Kess
Oct 24, 2007 @ 7:50 pm
LOL @ AM complaint. But sheesh what a pathetic excuse for feedback that 10 forum is, it's a joke - but very convenient for Doc Who/Torchwood fans.
10 never bothers to moderate so the forum is totally 'owned' by posters, we all swap downloading & scamming 10 tips without ever being bothered, we even post things to try and get 10 hot & bothered and moderating - but nah, nothing.
Robson has expressed interest in being involved in aus if his schedule allows - if I was 10 I would check his schedule and work around it.
(Who do you love on the show currently airing? I adore Danny and Sabra, Neil too, can't wait to see tonight what the most "beautiful thing I have seen, ever" is like).
This show cheers me up no end when I'm feeling bad, it's so soothing and uplifting. My sis is very unwell with depression at the moment, I have got her into watching this and it really helps:)

Ah, I've been hanging out waiting for someone to start a thread for this! I practically live in the SYTYCD forum, hee. I'm naughty and have already seen all of season three, shh.
I'd love to see how Wade would go in our version. And, like I've said in the forum, I think it would be amazing to see Bangarra Dance Theatre involved in some capacity -- whether that's a more hands-on role, or a special performing guest thing.
I hope it doesen't end up being like the poorly produced local version of DWtS, and It Takes Two. Mileage varies, of course, but I find those programs utterly cringe-worthy.
Undecided on the role of Natalie BassingWTF, although as long as she doesen't sing I suppose I'll be able to deal with her, ha.

Ten should totally have poached Sonia from Seven and given her the hosting gig. She would have been right in her element and she wouldn't have to put up with Daryl anymore (Ok impossible I know but the idea of it gives me happy thoughts).

Oh, me too pup. I don't know how that poor woman puts up with Dazza week in and week out. Sonia would have been fantastic as host of this show.
It would be great if Wade did a routine or two for our version. Was he the one who did the Ramalama Bang Bang group dance for the 2nd season of the US version? That's one of my fave group performances.
lucinda
Oct 24, 2007 @ 10:12 pm
He certainly was, CarlyM. He also choreographed the top four group dance in that season, to SexyBack. He won an Emmy earlier this year for Ramalama Bang Bang, apparently. I love the costumes in that dance.

He also choreographed and danced in one of the "Stars of Dancing" segments for the US version of DWtS last week. You might be able to catch it on either You-know-where or on Raphael Pungin's website.

1,307,000.
This show is flying high in the ratings, last few weeks drawing just over 1mil, and leaping up last night! Yeah I hope it's insurance we will continue to get the US version as well as the OZ.
It's been growing each week, fantastic figures for dance. You really only have to watch once to get very attached to the emotion and integrity of this show. Wonder if they have thought of taking the dancers on a world tour, would love to see them live. I would love to see Danny fly.

I'm pretty bummed about the appointment of

It'll be interesting to see if the local version can keep up those kinda ratings. Pressure much?

Can anyone post a spoiler about why audience members walk out nest episode, as seen in the latest trailers - very curious??????????????

Oct 29, 2007 @ 9:58 pm
There was a delay of several days between when the results were announced and when the episode was aired (don't remember what pre-empted it), so the audience was taken out before the elimination announcement to prevent spoilers.

Particularly
reality TV. I mean, (at least) half the fun of shows like this is the anticipation of the trainwrecks and the hissy fits etc, but with

I agree that is the great thing about SYTYCD, there isn't that humiliation factor that comes into so many other reality TV shows. In fact, just about all of them. Even when the judges are critical it's constructive, I never feel like they're bringing someone down because they think it makes good television. I hope the local version manages to do the same.

Well,
Kess, you may well end up getting to see it live and in person, if
SYTYCD:Australia does a national tour the way our version has done for the past two years (in fact, I believe our second annual national tour is going on even as I type this.)
BTW, are there any video clips of your version online anywhere yet? I must admit, I'm getting rather curious myself to see how the Aussie version compares to our own.
Phee
Nov 2, 2007 @ 12:20 am
Our version is still in the audition stage and won't start airing until early next year. On the website with the audition info it says:
* Contestants must be available exclusively to the production for the following periods:
- 1 week between 13/11/07 & 07/12/07
- 04/02/08 - 04/05/08
So I guess that probably means the finals will be starting at the beginning of Feb, and the show might start airing with the audition eps a couple of weeks before then. Perhaps?
I'm not holding my breath for a tour though. Our Idol finalists don't even do tours at the end of the season anymore.
Kess
Nov 2, 2007 @ 12:58 am
So that timetable looks like they must take them through workshops Nov- Dec, decide the finalists, and then it must film & air during Feb, March, April.
I have my fingers crossed they bring out some US dancers to promote this - Danny & Sabra, & neil & Pasha especially.
And Idol used to tour, they may do a tour, and Australians do love to watch dance quite a bit. I don't know if a lot of people realise we have quite an amazing dance history in this country, to produce an international ballet company when we had a population of about 10-12 million was remarkable - and then it has been supported for decades, and that is just part of our history.

So, what's the story behind the expression 'jidges'? I saw the start of the US version for the first time last night and I hadn't realised that it was an actual thing with Cat.
Also, didn't Channel Teen decide they werent doing Big Brothel next year?
katisha66
Nov 2, 2007 @ 7:24 am
No, they're still doing it, D, and they've "improved" it by dumping Gretel Killeen and getting Vyle and Tacky Ho to host it. And unfortunately, this does NOT mean we won't have Vyle on Idol anymore - he's still doing that too. I don't know why they don't also get him to host BL. He certainly knows a thing or two about being chubbo. Meow!
Topic? I want to marry Danny and Pasha. Either or both, I'm not fussy.
D291173
Nov 2, 2007 @ 7:48 am
Ah, I thought there was something wrong about the combo of Vyle staying on Idol, Channel Teen dropping Big Brothel and Vyle and Tacky Ho. Although, wasn't she last on the tube in that "hilarious" Matt Tilley thing on Nein?
katisha, you take Danny, I'll take Pasha and then at the end of the week we can swap. It'll stop us getting bored until we get our very own Shtrayan SYTYCD hotties. WARNING: I may want to swap Kameron in for a week every now and then, just to give the main boys a break.

It's simply the way that Cat pronounces the word "judges" because of her native accent (she's from Manchester, IIRC, so she doesn't have the BBC/Oxford-trained "classic" British accent.) It's become something of an inside joke on our version, and she herself is very much in on it. In many ways, she is to us what Sonia Krueger is to you on DWtS.

Yep, that sounds more than fair to me,
D. But you can have Kameron all to yourself - he doesn't do anything for me!
Reny Sue, I think it's more than possible they will run SYTYCD and BL at the same time, possibly even back to back. BL at 7pm, followed by SYTYCD at 7.30. If BL continues to have healthy ratings, it'll be a good lead-in for a new show.
TVJunkie
Nov 2, 2007 @ 7:36 pm
SYTYCD is an hour show twice a week. So it can definitely run with TBL one after the other. Sunday nights will probably be 6.30 TBL, 7.30 SYTYCD.
Although didn't TBL run for an hour on Monday nights too? If they have the results show for SYTYCD on Mondays & they stretch it be an hour (don't you *love* padding?) then maybe they'll chop TBL to half an hour - or maybe the results show will be half an hour with minimal padding. Please TPTB hear our cries - NO MORE USELESS PADDING!!

Too bad Dicko isn't available to be a judge on this show
I'm glad he isn't. If he decided to judge this show the way he is judging this year on Idol, we'd get a history of how Fred Astaire originally danced to that song in the winter of 45 and how that routine did not reflect the original message Dianne Warren was trying to convey in the lyrics or what Elton John wanted to represent in the melody.
I was contemplating auditioning for the show but two factors came into play 1)I wasn't available exclusively for the time period required and 2) I didn't want someone telling me I couldn't dance
