When am I going to see the Lauren/Heidi showdown!!!

Speidi never fight? They should get an emmy for thier perfomance then!
MissPinkKate
"I love passing judgment on people"- seriously, that could be my life motto- I think Lo and I are soul sisters.
tanyak
Seriously, what the hell does Spencer do? Does he work?? I actually felt bad for Heidi. Look, idiot. She's an event planner. That's a lot of nights and weekends. I used to work as a copy editor at the local paper. It was nothing but nights and weekends. It sucks sometimes, but you deal. Good Lord! So whiny.
kittkat
I want to know who Lauren pissed off that they are lighting her from beneath in every scene. She looks worse every episode.
AfroJo
I also wonder what the heck Spencer does. Is he in school? I saw him reading a pretty popular business text last week, but he's always just laying around doing nothing.

And Brody is still shady as hell, IMO.
mayagirl
I loved the wrap dress Lauren wore to her dinner date with Brody. I was so happy not to see her in a maturnity dress again.
Helter Skelter
I'm more than a little bored with this show. I don't find Brody all that appealing; yes, he's attractive, but that's it. He's not deep or intelligent and frankly, he's just too... smooth to be trusted. I think he had much to do with the rumors spread about Lauren, and it's just way too easy for him to put it all on Spencer and Heidi at this point.

The back-and-forth with Brody isn't a compelling storyline for me. I really hope there's bigger drama next week. Blah.
howcanthatbe
LO! is the most likable shitstirrer. I do so enjoy her perspective.
MissPinkKate
I'm with Helter-Skelter- I'm bored, too. Especially considering that because of the constant tabloid coverage, I already know what's going on with all of these people already.
Sapienta
Gavin was really, really nice. And really, really boring. Like he looks incredible but I got the sense that a night out would consist of walks on the beach and campfires. And seriously, did he not get the memo that she doesn't like salmon? She said it, why makde her eat it?
mamie614
Best line of the night goes to Anonymous Bolthouse receptionist to Spencer: "And you are....?"

She must not be an avid Hills watcher. Either that or she couldn't resist a dig at Mr. Ego.
TucsonMike

Not to start off the night off topic but you have piqued my curiousity, TanyaK. Where were you a copy editor? I worked for the Long Beach Press Telegram (Long Beach, CA) for 7 years and worked the desk for about 3 years.
cyberchick30
So when are we going to see the whole Whitney storyline, where she starts dating after her breakup?
Hoi Polloi
Man that was a boring episode. It was kind of funny though when the Bolthouse receptionist gave Spencer the old David Spade "and you are....." line when he asked for Heidi. Way to make things seem real MTV.

Spencer and Heidi have the exact same fight every week. It's tedious.

I cringed when Brodie told Lauren that Gavin is short because that was my first reaction. Ugh, Brodie and I sharing thoughts.

I couldn't have said it better Helter Skelter

Yawn.

- No Justin/Bobby is always nice.

- "I love meeting new people and passing judgement on them." Thank you, Lo. Thank you.

- Gavin. Dude, nice hair. Mix in a personality and you're golden, brah.

- Spencer getting shut down not once (Bolthouse receptionist not blinded by the pearly whites of Mr. FameWhore) but twice (newly career-committed Heidi?) in five minutes was effing priceless.

- "So, you're home pretty early for date night." "Yeah, but I had to go you know, to find out." Blah blah blah..."So if the movie's not too boring maybe I could come by and watch it with you. What movie is it?" "DOES IT REALLY MATTER?"

Is it me or was that like DON'T CARE IF I'M THE GOOD GIRL BRODY GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE FOR THE BOOTY CALL in LC speak? Good lawd girl.
lambie
Am I going crazy or was Heidi actually showing some responsibility at work? When "new Elodie" said she'd be at the Nascar event until 3 checking the radios back in, I thought for sure Heidi would say "okay, see you tomorrow" but she actually told Spencer she'd be there late.

And again we get the Spencer beard break in the time-space continuum. Now that I know to look for it, it's hysterical.

A fellow nightsider! I worked at the News & Record in Greensboro, N.C., for seven years. I was on the desk the whole time. That said, please forgive any writing mistakes you might see on here. :)

Back OT: Spencer still stucks! And what IS up with the under lighting during dinners? I've noticed it with everyone.
MissPinkKate
Oh, that was a definite LC booty call.

I normally just read, but I had to throw in how much I loved that part of her and Brody's conversation. Way to tell it like it is. Because you know it didn't matter.

And the look on her face! It was nice to see her open up. Plus, it wasn't like she threw herself at Gavin. While I don't necessarily think she and Brody are ideal, they certainly have chemistry and right now she seems perfectly content to just roll with it.

Lord knows, she doesn't need another car wreck like J-Wahl. (Sidenote: so glad that thread got left behind. Damn sure don't need to see the Ice Queen Katja anymore.) Better she just have some fun.
frankie1985
I liked when Aaron Eckhart-look-alike-dude said that he went camping and there was no water or electricity, Lo said "Wow you're so manly!" I don't know how she can be so bitchy, yet so likeable at the same time.
kantsing
New guy didn't look like a model. He was not hot and had bad hair. Very boring guy and episode.
nohwheregirl
"I love passing judgement on people." Hands up if you think Lo should get her own spin-off. Ooh! Ooh! Me!

Per usual, the "fights" between Heidi and Spencer were soooooo staged. You should at least get these kids some acting lessons, MTV. Also not surprised things didn't work out with Gavin. He was friendly, articulate, had a job (modeling), a hobby (camping), and no obvious drug problem. Not nearly douche-baggy enough for her.
chlyn

Ooooh, well-deserved snark! Thank you, nohwheregirl.

What I don't get is if Heidi is supposed to be "new Elodie's" superior how come she didn't know/was surprised that she would have to work till three?

Once again new Elodie seems much more competant than Heidi. I don't know though I guess a lot of people would say that managers in general don't know anything about what's actually going on. Can we really say that Heidi has managerial status though?

I'm a Lauren fan, but even most diehards will recognize that she is terrible at dating and relationships. This episode just highlighted it for me. Lauren is super judgemental and hard to please. The look on her face just cause the Gavin guy ordered something she said she didn't like? I mean I would take it into account, but I wouldn't write the guy off, especially when you just gave him full control to order. Either be a woman and order for yourself or at the very least say something when he orders something you don't like!

That said I still think Lo and Lauren are right about JB being an ass.
wildcatcarrie

Oh, player, famewhore Brody probably isn't ideal for anyone.

The problem I had with Gavin during dinner was that he made her try the baked salmon even though she said she doesn't like salmon and then she was trying to say something nice while making a face and he was like "Isn't it the best thing ever?" I mean, really, did you see her face? Do you really think she thought it was the best thing ever? Because it looked to me that she desperately wanted to spit it in her napkin.
kristywoods
Please bring Jason back. That was a whole lot of boring.
JulesP
Not a lot of laughs in this episode but it was pretty funny when Whitney came from behind the curtain at the casting session and said, "He was funny" and Lauren mouthed, "He's still here" and pointed to the dressing room. The reaction from both Whitney and Lauren was cute.

Did Heidi refer to a whirlwind as a "world win"?
chlyn

She did some kind of malaprop. I thought I heard "whirled wind". /snicker/ Do we have that on TiVo?

Lauren should have spoke up. She doesn't like salmon yet she told Gavin to order for her, and then didn't speak up when he ordered the salmon. This one's completely on Lauren. She has a mouth, brains, and is obviously not shy about voicing her opinions on other subjects (uhmmmm..Spencer) she should have put those skills to use here.

It just seems like Lauren just wants to find fault with the normal guys she dates. Even though she says she wants a good one, she really wants a Brody or Jason type. I doubt she will admit that to herself. Hopefully she'll grow out of that.
chlyn
Oh, now I remember what Heidi said: she did say "world win" or "whirldwin".

She needs to have her own talk show - Orange County Oprah!

Oh, now I remember what Heidi said: she did say "world win" or "whirldwin".

yeah she said "world win" At least it sounded like it to me. Whatever she said she didn't say "whirlwind"

I think that Lauren was testing him to see if he would be considerate and not order the salmon that he said he liked and he failed the test. It's kind of immature, but something I would do.

"I love passing judgement on people" is something I have said in the past. I wonder if Lauren would consider adding me as her fat, sassy sidekick. Team Lo!

And Heidi definitly added a D to "whirlwind." Oh Heidi!
thecandlemelts
I don't get the salmon thing. There were 3 other types of sushi for Lauren, more than enough. If he wants the salmon, she shouldn't begrudge him that.

Gavin shouldn't have ordered something his date just told him she didn't like. That was just a bad date maneuver and a red flag for a guy who either is a bad listener or is controlling in forcing his tastes on someone. Had Lauren said "no I don't want that!" after asking him to order she would have been viewed as bitchy.

The Speidi plotline is boring me because everything about their interactions seem fake.

Gavin didn't look like a model at all. He wasn't cute and Brody was right, he was too short.

I think Lauren's friends need to layoff the Brody talk. It seems like every episode they are trying to convince her that she should want to marry him and have his babies.
NewsGirl2
Lauren, could you send Gavin in my direction? Seriously, though, he seemed nice, and even though I'm not a big fan of camping, I like a guy who can enjoy the outdoors (as long as he doesn't insist on taking me camping every time we want to go on vacation. Sometimes a girl really needs a hot shower and a soft bed.).

My favorite part of the episode was right after Lauren gave her number to Gavin, and Whitney came in, and Lauren just said, "Don't," and Whitney sort of sidled away with a smile. That was such an authentic, girlfriend-y moment; it made me smile.

Bwah! Good call!

I noticed that as well. How old is this girl sppsd to be, anyway?

What's with the sudden "Heidi is mature and hard-working" edit this week? Twice (!) this week she put her job over Spencer, who apparently never leaves that couch and just stares and glowers at her whenever she says she's leaving for work. Are they just repeating the same reaction shot of Spencer over and over? It's beyond tedious!
teeveefiend
This was probably the most boring episode of the season. I hate having to watch Speidi's overly staged scenes. MTV needs to refer them to a better acting coach. I know most of the show is staged, but I cringe when Speidi scenes are on. Both of them stare at the camera for too long and don't know how to act natural. They couldn't pull off their own show.
Gavin was ok. They need to bring JustinBobby back.
Love Lo! It was nice to see more of Whitney. Next week's episode looks better.

It would also help if they didn't perform their scenes while Heidi is applying (and I use that term loosely) makeup to her face.
Last week she was slathering powder onto her face with a brush. *THIS* week she's slathering on some mascara.
Deigh
The Heidi/Spencer scenes just drag down the episode. They don't really belong on the show anymore. We've left behind other people that LC stopped talking to or hanging out with. Why not Speidi?

It would be one thing if they were still being their evil, antagonistic characters but they aren't. They're just boring now.
Lolafalona
The first scene with LC, Lo and Audrina it struck me how gorgeous they are.

"I love passing judgement on people." Hands up if you think Lo should get her own spin-off. Ooh! Ooh! Me!
Raises both hands and legs. Lo has the best one-liners, she always brings the funny on.

Otherwise a boring episode.

Same here. I eat very few types of sushi - my fave is shrimp tempura rolls. Even if my date said he didn't like it, I would still order it for me to eat, along with two or three other types.

That said, I wouldn't tell my date to try a piece. That's was the stupid part.
LuckieSeven
Great to see an ep with Whitney doing something other than sitting in the Teen Vogue closet and soliciting leading questions to Lauren. Really cute scene at the casting.

Hooray for no JB!

Do they even use lighting on this show? I thought Lauren looked fine.
KateQD

That's what I thought too, why shouldn't he get what he likes, there is no rule that she had to eat it, she could have let him have the whole thing. Mr D loves peas, I despise peas, but you know what, I still make them for him, I just don't eat them when I make them, its not a relationship breaker that we don't enjoy the same foods. Good Lord, if that was the basis for relationships to work out I would have to marry my mother because she is the only person who likes the same foods as me.

Lo is the pretty version of Kathy Griffen, I love her. I think I would very much enjoy sitting with her at a party. Who is the famous woman that said, "If you dont have anything nice to say, come sit by me"? That's Lo to a tee and my type of girlfriend!

I would also like to pat myself on the back for calling that Gavin would be just a pawn in the Lauren/Brody relationship. So many said no, but I could tell, he was not going to be anything but a tactic used in landing Brody. She wants him and not just for the hook-ups, she wants him.
The Evil One
"I love passing judgement on people." Hands up if you think Lo should get her own spin-off. Ooh! Ooh! Me!

I would tune in every week to watch The World According to Lo. No matter how dull an episode may be, it is twenty times better now that Lo is back in the loop.

Damn you, MTV editing. Don't try to make me an LC-Brody 'shipper. That just feels dirty and wrong.
namaste7
I also loved Lauren's dress in that initial scene with Brody...does anyone know who makes it?

I thought her model date looked like one of the Carter brothers.
mapei
Someone upthread referred to, I think, Brody as "not particularly deep." That got me to thinking whether there has been any featured character on the show that I would describe as "deep." I mean, the show has literally made shallow into an art form.

Possible exceptions: Whitney and the on-the-ball intern from New York. We don't really know, but they seem like people with some substance to them. Whitney looked prettier than ever last night, BTW.

I really liked Gavin - being a nice guy and not coming on too strong with personality should be good things, not bad ones. But Brody was right when he said that Lauren needs a "bad boy." Yep. While I think someone was on to something when s/he pointed out that part of the friction bewteen Spencer and Lauren may be due to some secret/subliminal attraction Spencer has for Lauren, the opposite may be true as well.

Lo is borderline obnoxious.
jellywager

ITA GOblue, I hope her crazy dan roll (or whatever it was called) also had salmon in it. It was skanky that she called Brody after her date.

(From the WeeCap)
Heidi gets ready to go to the big NASCAR event. Spencer acts like he had no idea she had an event and says that he made dinner plans for them to make up for the anniversary dinner she missed.
Hmm, now that you mention it, why does Spencer act so shocked that Heidi has to go to work for a living?
Imrahil
Lo is borderline obnoxious.

For whatever reason, I've always liked Lo, especially lately. Part of that is because she gets to say all the things that we know LC wants to say (i.e. "Justin's a loser, whatever"...hilarious). The honesty is refreshing, with so many people I consider to be fake (i.e. Heidi, Jen, to a degree Brody) or just plain unlikeable (i.e. Jen, Heidi, Spencer, JB).
