From
ABC.com:
The Chief's wife, Adele, rushes their niece to Seattle Grace, the hospital where she once had her prom, Izzie reveals her feelings for George to a mutual friend, and the reaction is not what she expects, Derek teaches Cristina how to be a better teaching resident, and the world's oldest living intern, Norman, misdiagnoses one of Meredith's patients.

I was with Callie until she was all "What George did is totally excusable but you should be loyal to me, girl I've never gotten along with!" Uh...that's some logic there, Callie O'Malley.
Alex and Izzie make a much better couple. Twice the chemistry and fifty times the passion.
Cristina, for the first time ever, was all over my nerves tonight. Maybe it's because I really like Lexie.
I like Meredith away from Derek. She's actually endearing.

George running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off was hilarious and I was so happy when he ran into the med chart! I’m tired of television shows acting like people are not clumsy and that they do not hurt themselves when they run full force into things. (LoL)
LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that Richard (Edward Herrmann) from the Gilmore Girls is still getting work. I “seriously” hope that he will continue to have a re-occurring role as Oldie McIntern! I just love his cute “dad” like comments and his absolute delight about being there.
Oh, and I totally feel Alex’s pain! Every time someone sleeps with George, there is always a horrible fallout; syphilis, depression, long winded speeches, and self righteousness about who he marries on the fly! And poor Alex has to deal with the messy leftovers and heartbroken/super guilty girls!
I am hating this McDreamy/3-Lexie-The Other Grey team up! Derek is being way too easy on 3 and I hate him speaking down to my personal hero and idol, Cristina.
“We’re very ghetto fabulous” classic Cristina line
I’m SO happy that Grey’s showed the average anorexic!! All you ever see on tv is the scary skinny, nasty boney chick that is obviously sick. Finally a show is showing the everyday, slim but not unusual woman who is basically starving herself, but isn’t visibly ill. Goodness knows, between my friends and I, over the course of a day maybe 3 whole meals are eaten, but no one thinks anything of it.
The scene between Callie and Izzie was absolutely EXCELLENT! Sara rocked the crap outta that, you felt the tension, the hurt, the pain, and her palm itching to slap the shit out of Izzie.
As for ANVILS, Grey’s but geez, did George and Callie have to have that conversation in the rain?!
OMG OMG OMG OMG Derek mini “I wanna” speech made my brain fall out and smack me in the heart! I want a boyfriend, significant other, a flirty guy!!!
Oh wait....I replayed the end of his speech....never mind

Ugh, and I was kind of loving him for all the Cristina stuff because her whole number system with the interns is kind of douchey since she got the whole mean part of the Nazi down pat but she forgot that the Nazi taught them as well.
And really Cristina, people who fuck attendings can't really get on a high horse when an intern may or may not be using a family connection to get to an attending, which I don't think Lexie is that bright to do.

The Chief was awesome, I think I teared up in the majority of his scenes.
Looooved Alex tossing the box of kleenex at Izzie, while telling her to keep it down.
Christina rocked, as always.

I really liked Callie this episode. I was disappointed at how weak her character was becoming, but the way she handled Izzie redeemed her a bit. I don't want her to let go of George out of spite. Just because she doesn't forgive George, doesn't mean she' going to let him go. I hate Gizzie.

YES. My English teacher in high school taught me a phrase - she used it to describe why Virgil wasn't a fan of Dante's pity towards those in hell; righteous indignation.

The thing is the show doesn't have the balls to simply have them not date. They have to have McDouchie come right back with a new cycle of dating next week to rub things in. Like ER in its worst days, the show can't have people just BE DOCTORS for a while without the relationship stories.

OK, I know this is not a popular opinion, but I have ALWAYS thought that Izzie and Alex had boat loads of chemistry. Chemistry that rivals Mer/Der, and I saw that again tonight.
SaRa was amazing tonight, even though she always is....she made me feel things that I have not felt for Grey's in a LONG time. I actually CARED about a character.
It was a great episode, though Derek is constantly contradicting himself. He talks in circles, and I want to smack him. Angry Mark is hot. Cristina's run in with Derek was good....I thought it *did make her a better teacher. She can't be the next Nazi if she does not know how to teach her interns.
Izzie was tolerable tonight....I loved that she was such an ass, and now she realizes what an awful thing she did. I hope she learns some humility and IzzMe leaves our screens forever. I miss S1 Izzie.

Totally awesome episode. Very season one vibe too it. Too much Lexie. I think they were trying to make me like her, but they made me hate her more. Go away Bambi jr. The writers using Cristina so that we could root for Lexie, and Derek, just pissed me off.
I know I'm supposed to find Derek Dreamy, but really, that speech just made him look even assier. Dump him Meredith. You're not the problem, he is. It's basically "I'll love you forever, until someone who actually submits to my every whim comes along." How romantic, not.
Meredith and Norman were pretty funny together. Mark was as raging ass though. Who pissed in his cornflakes? I mean he used to be a funny ass, now he's just an ass. I guess he's shoved so far up Derek's ass that there isn't any niceness or charm left for anyone else. Gag. They're destroying McSteamy, he really was an asshole.
George and Izzie suck.
Alex and Cristina rule all. Cristina may be a little disrespecful with her interns, but Lexie really needs to start showing the residents some respect, and not make everything so personal.

I am so glad Callie admitted that she didn't forgive George. I don't think forgiveness is a sign of weakness (it's actually very difficult) but you don't forgive that so easily. And, even though I hate Izzie and don't quite hate George, it is absolutely wrong to put the brunt of the blame on Izzie. I'm glad Callie told Izzie off and didn't fight her, but I don't agree with the whole "doing it to another woman" thing. It's reprehensible to do that another human being period. George doesn't get a free pass (and where was the advantage taken) because he's a man. They both did something horrid. But, I am glad that there was no scene of Callie feeling bad for Izzie. I wouldn't put it past this show.
Sigh. I fear the ruination of Alex is coming close upon us. I also think he was less upset about Izzie sleeping with someone married than her sleeping with someone after turning him down, and because it was George in particular. I'll just have to enjoy the previous two episodes for truly good Alex.
Please, don't ever make Edward Herrmann say the lines he said in this episode again. It was truly embarrassing.
I hated how Adele was. Completely manipulative. I understand not wanting to lose her niece, but browbeating Richard and thinking only of how she didn't want to lose Camille, not at all about how hard it was for Camille to go through that or her mother for that matter was wrong.
Honestly, I didn't see Mark being that bad wrt Meredith last week, but his whole conversation with Derek about her just seemed vicious this time.
Overall, not a good episode for me.

Hi everyone! *waves* I've been a devoted fan of this show almost since the beginning (about halfway through S1). And then there was Gizzie--the thing that made me stop watching the show once and for all. I might have been able to have handled that whole debacle a bit better, had it been presented more convincingly (read, not "OMG kissing him is like kissing my brother but because we got drunk and slept together it must be TWU WUV!!11!!). It's an idea I might have bought, had TPTB given me a better sales pitch.
But now, from what I've read on here so far, I might have to start watching the show again. *prays to any and all gods of good TV that Izzie and George got theirs in this ep*

Ah, but from I what I recall, it was a bit deeper than that.
Everyone else had learned to deal with their marriage, and it had been generally settled upon that they were there to stay. Callie and Izzie may have never gotten along, but Callie had seen a presumed civility that Izzie did not. I don't know about her saying that she should have been "loyal to her" it seemed to be Callie berating Izzie for being "that girl" who manipulated the trust Callie had placed in Izzie in the hopes Izzie would have the good sense to know the lines that should not be crossed.

I think it's more like 10th trillion. And Derek, remember that whole "Never talk to me about Meredith Grey again?" Yeah, what happened to that? Meredith might avoid, but Derek just has no sense of self. He just can't stick to anything. He is basically the definition of a drama queen. She's the typical guy in the relationship. She doesn't want to talk, she likes sex, she drinks, etc. He's the typical 1950's woman. But then he possesses a lot of shitty qualites, so it's not that funy anymore. Everything he does/says comes with conditions and ultimatums. Be single Meredith, that's why God invented BOBs.

The thing is if Derek just completely walked away and said he wants somebody to marry, that's one thing. In his scenario, he still wants to be having sex with Meredith while potentially finding a new love. If she stays with that, she'll take away the last few shreds of dignity that she has.

So true. George's reaction was very much, "She forgives me? That means I have to stay in the marriage?" Yeah, George. Weren't you all big and bad about telling her the marriage was over before? I'm mighty confused about what's going on in the George-Izzie-Callie plotline now. In the season premiere, I got the impression that he was ready to leave Callie, to divorce her and be with Izzie. But now, he's only confessed to the cheating. He didn't go to Izzie's after. He made no move to end the relationship with Callie. And they're both acting like it was a one-time slip-up. It's not adding up for me. I think George is such a chickenshit that he thought telling Callie about the cheating would get him thrown out on his ass and it would be on her to end it.
When Callie finally laid the smackdown on Izzie, it was beautiful...except the stuff about trust and trechery. Callie knew she couldn't trust Izzie, right from the start. Izzie didn't betray her, GEORGE betrayed her and she seems to have lost sight of that. But still, most of it was awesome. I hope this spurns Callie into getting awesome again quick because she's such a shell of her former self and it's getting not awesome.
While I really wish it had been Meredith or Cristina to lay the "mutual friend" smackdown, Alex did a fine job. He was totally right: she rejected him time and time, sleeps with someone he doesn't like, and then tells him "like I'm one of your girlfriends." I wish he hadn't been nice and brought her tissues at the end.
Cristina bugged tonight...but so did Derek. That "Derek helps Cristina be a resident" storyline had potential and it felt wasted because they both were acting out of character. And his speech at the end had me going "SQUEE" at the semi-marriage proposal and "BLECH" by the end of it. He was like, "I accept that you're not ready, but get ready soon or I'm SO gone."
I LOVE how Izzie's interns totally hate her. And Norman was hilarious tonight. But overall, very meh on the whole thing.

I got what I wanted...Derek said he would wait...but it came with strings so it is all just tainted. I'll be more coherent once the rage subsides.

Well that's one interpretation and I would say that it's fair, but the fact remains that Callie said that what Izzie did to her was worse than what George did. Something like "George may have broken his vows but YOU..." I just find that to be ridiculous, high school mentality and it ruined what should have been a glorious moment for Callie. But they've totally destroyed her character as far as I'm concerned, so I'm not surprised.

Only Shonda and these writers could turn a memorable event (marriage proposal) into something dark and twisty. So much for "fun" this season. And it looks like the "potential" love interest could very well be for Derek. Yeah, and then we get to watch Mer get all jealous and blah, blah, blah...
MAYBE it will lead to something good in the long run, once these writers figure out what the blazes they are doing. Until then, I'm not happy...

Sara Ramirez OWNED her scenes - she was phenomenal.
Alex was great - his pain was there with Izzie as well as some strength. As far as Izzie crying, well, congratulations Izzie - it only took you almost a season and a half to figure out that Callie is a human being with feelings. All we need is for you to figure out that the world doesn't revolve around you in about three seasons and you've hit the level of the average twelve year-old.
I think that George finally got how badly he hurt Callie when she yelled at the fiance. Oddly, he seemed upset that Callie wouldn't even look at him. Another slow study, I guess.
Chief and Adele rocked! I think James Pickens is highly underrated and Loretta Divine is, well, divine!
Something like "George may have broken his vows but YOU..." I just find that to be ridiculous, high school mentality and it ruined what should have been a glorious moment for Callie. But they've totally destroyed her character as far as I'm concerned, so I'm not surprised.
Actually, I think Callie has an excellent point. There is something to be said for women sticking together and not automatically seeing each other as rivals. Callie's point is even MORE strong given that Izzie acted like someone skinned her puppy when Alex slept with Olivia and THEY weren't even technically dating. IMO its not high schoolish at all, its women's solidarity which to be honest is something TOTALLY lacking on this show.

ITA, but this "Greatest love story of all time" has been dangled in front of us like a carrot for over 3 seasons. We were led to believe that Derek is McDreamy, the man of every girls dreams. The way Mer/Der have been written through S3 and so far this year has been very confusing, and
VERY manipulative of the audience.
I feel like I have been on the Mer/Der ship way too long, and I am about to jump off. I LOVE Meredith. Some people find her whiny and annoying...but I remember that kick ass surgeon with a rough personal life, and I MISS that girl. I REALLY miss S1 & S2 Meredith. She was awesome. I don't care about Derek anymore. He's NOT McDreamy. My hubby waited 7 years for me, because he was a man who KNEW what he wanted. If Derek KNEW that he wanted Mer, and that she was the love of his life....he would be fine with waiting.
I now watch this show for Cristina and Alex, hopefully the writers won't fuck them up too.

I loved when Alex said both Callie and Izzie were fighting for nothing.
That was the best line of the night. All I could think when George kept talking about how Callie couldn't forgive him, was that George didn't want forgiveness so he wouldn't feel bad when he ran over to Izzie's later for some more loving. If George wants out of the marriage, then he needs to say something. Though at this point, I almost wish Callie made the decision herself and dumped him. She deserves so much better.
I hated how Adele was. Completely manipulative. I understand not wanting to lose her niece, but browbeating Richard and thinking only of how she didn't want to lose Camille, not at all about how hard it was for Camille to go through that or her mother for that matter was wrong.
I really disliked Adele. He isn't God, and he can't force Camille to do something she doesn't want to do. Making Richard feel worse isn't going to change that

So apparently Derek doesn't want Mark to talk about Meredith UNLESS it taps into some douchebag feeling Derek already has floating around in his soul? Is that's what happening?

The thing is if Derek just completely walked away and said he wants somebody to marry, that's one thing. In his scenario, he still wants to be having sex with Meredith while potentially finding a new love. If she stays with that, she'll take away the last few shreds of dignity that she has.
Derek said what he said because Shonda needs to find a way to drag this thing out as long as possible. The problem is that all the time she's delaying, she makes him look like more and more of a jackass.
I still adore him. Still ride the ship MerDer. The only way I can is to remember that Shonda the puppetmaster is making him say these stupid things. Because the first 95 percent of what he said was very sweet.
