From NBCUMV.com:
In an effort to cut off any chance of GE digging up dirt against him, Jack (Alec Baldwin) hires his own private investigator, Len (Guest Star Steve Buscemi), to head them off. However, when Jack learns that he must give up his secret cookie jar collection, it almost proves to be too much of a sacrifice. Tracy's (Tracy Morgan) wife, Angie (Guest Star Sherri Shepherd), announces that she is going to be with him at all times to make sure that he behaves. Liz (Tina Fey) thinks this will be good for Tracy, however, when Tracy forces Liz to cover for him, she quickly learns that it doesn't pay to be on Angie's bad side. Meanwhile, Jenna (Jane Krakowski) is enjoying all the success and admiration her weight gain has brought until she realizes that she is starting to lose the weight. Steve Buscemi and Sherri Shepherd guest star; Scott Adsit, Kevin Brown, Jack McBrayer and Maulik Pancholy also star.

I loved that episode. So much.

"My cousin Tim fixes NBA games..."

Awse.
captain sam
I feel like this episode was the most quotable yet this season, especially with "You guys START with that?" Tina Fey's expressions were delightful.

I wasn't too fond of the cookie jars; I feel like they could've come up with something a little more bizarre, but maybe its mundaninity (a word?) kept the episode from zooming too far off into the surreal. Speaking of which, yet another guest star used well. I feel like Steve Buscemi's PI was a whole character with a crazy backstory unto himself, and that with just some dropped comments about Giuliani.

Also, welcome back Pete! Man, where have you been? Has Scott Adsit been filming a movie?
shockey80te
I haven't laughed that much in a very long time... I loved this ep.

"Are you trying to control my body with your white hand?"

"She's a different kind of crazy... I think we have to get married now."

"Don't you mean businesswoman?" "I don't even think that's a word."

"You guys do THAT first?"

"My cousin Tim fixes NBA games."

The Jackie Mason flashback almost made me hurl.
StaceyRosie
I laughed a lot during this episode. And I was very loud. Heh.
samsnee
I personally like the "Just like a tiger turns back into a Chinaman every night" and Kenneth feeding Jenna: "The Indian guy going to the bathroom gets shot by the air marshal."
tomsmom
I'm with Anjy, if my husband ever comes home smelling like Enorme' and brass polish...I'm kicking his ass.
captain sam
Oh my god, the enOrme commercial--"Make him chase the junk." It was kind of perfect.
StaceyRosie
"The only way I could feel better about myself is to get boobie slapped by a coked out Russian stripper."

Holy shit. These writers are crazy. Ha.

Thank you tomsmom.

The sad thing is I played it 3 times and still didn't hear it correctly.
tomsmom
Hey Stacy, I believe it was "boobie slapped"!
StaceyRosie
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm an idiot. And deaf apparently.

"Then my thumb got caught in my butt so I nodded my head until it came out."
tomsmom
You probably had something else on your mindgrapes!

And on that note it's official, I'm a couch potato...thanks TWOP!
StaceyRosie
Yes I got 7th row center tickets to see Duran Duran. I'm very excited.

Jenna licking Kenneth was funny. And gross.

When Kenneth says Jenna is the wrong kind of crazy and that they have to get married now...does that mean they had sex?

HA.
jedicaboose
"Whenever I meet someone new I try to think of ways to fight them."

Bwahahaa.

Great episode.
QuicheSan
"Don't you mean businesswoman?" "I don't even think that's a word."

I burst out into surprise laughter. That line was completely unexpected and of course the delivery was sublime.

There were many good lines/exchanges in this episode but I felt it dragged a lot and the absence of the madcap, frenetic pace from last year is demonstrably evident. Also: whither Toofer, Frank, Cerie and Josh (there was that quick Pete scene, which was nice)?

And as much love as I have for Steve Buscemi (leftover Big Lebowski/Fargo love), I felt he was wasted and didn't really add anything to the episode. I did giggle at the Jackie Mason bit; that was a good cameo!
JessicaLovejoy
Liz: Bling bling! That is ghetto fab!
Anjy: This belonged to Brooke Astor.
Liz: ...........Sorry.

You can't ask a bird not to fly! You can't ask a fish not to swim! You can't ask a tiger not to turn back into a Chinese dude at midnight!
thuganomics85
Hee! I can totally believe that Jack would think of ways to fight whoever he meets. Now, I wonder what kind of fighting style he'll take, if he ever fights someone like Kenneth, Tracy, or even Liz herself.

Tracy and Anjy? Hilarious and sweet. Jenna and Kenneth?! Hilarious and gross.

Was upset that there was to Twofer or Cerie (and barely any Pete), but I loved this episode. It had plenty of hilarious quotes in it.
muic
There were a lot of great stuff tonight

'I'd give cookie jars a B'
The enorme commercial
Jack's cussing at the GE logo at the end of the episode
Jack's gazing fondly at Kenneth reminiscing about cookie jars
The opening with Jonathan hating Liz for interrupting his 'moment' with Jack.
'Walk and talk' dig at Studio 60
How every knows about the nails thing except Liz

But I really really dislike the slow pace they are going with this season. The episode felt a bit off for me. And I really miss the writers. I think Steve Buscemi is a talented actor but I didn't really see the point of his cameo here. The Jackie Mason bit really freaked me out too.
feminaformosa
'Walk and talk' dig at Studio 60

Yes!!! This was awesome. Love how Kenneth really couldn't really do it, either.
the new mcg
I love Jenna so much this year. Her licking Kenneth's face had me absolutely rolling.
jedicaboose
'Walk and talk' dig at Studio 60

Ha! I didn't make that connection at first, but that makes a funny bit that much greater.
NumberSix
"My cousin Tim fixes basketball games, my mother is an Olympic-level racist...".

That reference alone made this ep an A.

Liz enjoyed writing those digs at Jenna a bit too much but then it led to Jenna and Kenneth 'having to get married' so it was worth it.

I really want to see more of "Vic Nightingale".
chewingkebabs
"My cousin Tim fixes NBA games..."

I literally missed the entire rest of that scene because I was laughing so loud. I wanna take this show behind the middle school and get it pregnant.

Loved the Enorme commercial and the callback.

Kenneth's troubled family life: "When my mom's friend Ron would come and they would go into the bedroom and look at paperwork..."
arc
You can't ask a tiger not to turn back into a Chinese dude at midnight!

Oh, that's what he said? I heard "taikonaut to turn back [...]" but yours makes a teensy bit more sense.

Oh, Kenneth not being able to walk and talk was as funny as the Tim Donaghy reference, both of which forced me to pause and rewind cause I was laughing so hard. Liz successfully pantomiming the sick cobra story was great.

I dunno, I thought Tracy and Angie doing a take on Doug and Jackie Christie would have been great, but it was just OK. Jonathan remains hilarious, though. I wonder if he and Kenneth would play off well against each other; I imagine Jonathan could have been a page. (OTOH, it's probably more likely he's been Jack's assistant before Jack ever came to NBC.)

Kenneth's all-too-modern "airplane" take on feeding Jenna had me laughing even while I was thinking "oh so wrong".

Also, how awes was it how neither Kenneth nor Jack had any deep-seated family issues regarding cookie jars?

ETA: Jack's fake phone call was his greatest dismissal yet.
Ichabod
"Then my thumb got caught in my butt so I nodded my head until it came out."

I burst out laughing right there. Just one of many many crack-ups.
Freakin' loved this episode. Liked the first 2 this season but this is the first one I adore.

The Walk&Talk gag was a dig at Studio 60? Now it's even more awesome.
captain sam
I get the feeling Jack's a salt-of-the-earth boxer in terms of fighting style. I thought it was pricelessly cute the way he was trying to coach Liz on the fight, and later when Liz ordered Anjy out and didn't even try to put up her tiny little dukes; she just kept flinching in anticipation. We all know you're scrappier than that, Liz.
ultimategirl
"My cousin Tim fixes NBA games..."

Okay, I am just going to come out and admit that I have no idea what this reference is to. It's a slow day over here...
Lady Agnew
"You guys do THAT first?"

That was one of my favorite moments of the episode, because jeez, could Liz walk out of the room annnnny sloooooower? She was so obviously fascinated and perving on them for her own voyeuristic sex tips: a perfect Liz Lemon-y moment.

I don't get the NBA-fixing-cousin joke. Er, pop cultural blindness?

I also missed the open because there was a child abduction alert-emergency broadcast alert. Not to sound utterly callous, but are the people who are sitting down for some nourishing Thursday night comedy line-up really the perfect audience to catch a kidnapper of children?

I adore Pete! I actually gave a little squeal of happiness when he showed up. I actually love how jam-packed these episodes are with jokes, about 90% of them quotable, but I miss the additional side characters and broader storytelling of last season. But it's all good; the show is freaking hilarious, and that's ultimately all I care about. That and Liz. I love Liz with the fire of a thousand burning suns.
animal dreams
For those of you who don't watch enough ESPN.
StaceyRosie
The Tim Donaghy reference is the one that made me laugh the hardest because when the news came out I wondered if 30 Rock would ever mention it.

Actually I thought Jack was trying to teach Liz how to lean so that it would not be too painful if Anjy really hit her, then Liz could have a reason to ask security to throw Anjy out and not get too badly plummeted. It was a really cute moment though.
andreahbon
"I could never pay an English-speaking person that little. They'd starve!"

Hee.

I laughed when I heard that one. I was wondering how long it would take them to use it.

I also liked the Enorme commercial. Maybe it was all the wine I was drinking, but I couldn't stop laughing.
Videophile
The Enorme commercial was funny as hell, but when Angie later said that Tracy smelled of Enorme and brass polish I just lost it.

Also: "You wish it was a gay thing." And anytime Kenneth mentioned his mom's friend Ron.

That's EXACTLY how I feel about it. Every single scene in the show is great, but it doesn't come together like it did last season. This feels like a generic sitcom (though an extremely well-written, funny and well-acted one), it's lost the special touch that made me fall in love with it in the first place.

I've never really seen this phenomenon before. It seems like the show hasn't been dumbed down one bit, but the pace has been slowed significantly, denying us any scenes with, as previously mentioned, Toofer, Frank, Cerie, Josh, Lutz, and even Pete (one line as he's rushing into some other room isn't enough - he needs to have walk-and-talks with Liz, damnit!).

I really hope this isn't a trend, and/or a conscious decision to try to get more viewers. Because TPTB should be focused on giving us the funniest product they can while still on the air... not scraping the bottom of the barrel for viewers. If there's no classic self deprecating writers' room scene and Liz angst next week, I'll be really starting to get tired of this season, fast.

Me three. I thought it was a fine episode with some honest-to-goodness belly laugh moments thrown in, but as a whole, it failed to hang together for me. It seemed to be missing that spark that last season had me desperately try to keep from laughing too loud out of fear that I'd miss the next joke.

I have a feeling that less Angie, more writer's room would make a big difference. Not that she's not funny, but she seems to play more broadly (and boringly) than pretty much all the other characters, and Lemon's rapport with the writers is just fun. The fingernails thing was genius, though, and when Liz said that her nails looked tacky . . . Totally unexpected! That almost made the rest of the Angie scenes worth it for me.
Mrs Snark
Guys, I've converted my best friend to the 30 Rock cult. The final nail in the coffin?
Anjy: Are you looking for a sassy black friend? Because you got one!

Sherri Shepard stole the whole thing for me. She was hilarious. I official forgive her for that "I don't know if the world is round" comment. Maybe she was in character.

The Jack story dragged a lot, but I liked the explanation for the cookie jar obsession. So funny that Kenneth is like the idiot savant version of Jack.

Dear writers:

Please make Dotcom a permanant member of the writers staff?

K? Thanks.

Best line of the night:

Are you trying to control my body with your white hand?
-That broad is so crazy, but I know some black women that are that paranoid.

And I'm going to use that "Your nails are nice" line. Too bad it wouldn't work on bill collectors. Zing!
M. Darcy
This was Steve Buscemi's week - The Simpsons and 30 Rock.
The Enorme commercial was funny as hell, but when Angie later said that Tracy smelled of Enorme and brass polish I just lost it.
That was great.

I really loved Liz's look of joy when she started thinking of mean things Kenneth could say to Jenna.
starspur
I thought this ep was funny as hell. I love it when I think I know where the joke is going and then they turn it around (for example, the "sassy black friend" conversation).

Though I adore him and think he's hilarious, I would take a tad less Kenneth if it meant we could get Frank and Twoofer back in the game. That said, I'm totally going to start using "sort out our paperwork" as a euphemism for "doing it."

Best throwaway moment: when Steve Buscemi takes the can of diet coke out of his pocket, drinks from it, then puts it back in his pocket.
MyAlias
Why would Jack want to be president of GE when the real power lies with the CEO of the Sheinhart Wig Corporation?

I really hope this isn't a trend, and/or a conscious decision to try to get more viewers.

Yeah, Tina Fey said they're slowing it down this year.

Also, I think of myself more as a weasel with the head of a badger.
peeayebee
I agree with others here who feel that this ep was funny yet not quite right compared to last season. I miss the rapid-fire pace.

Ditto to the comments about Buscemi. He didn't add much to the ep. I think, oddly enough, that he was too normal. I think the characters either need to be played outlandishly, surrealistically, or simply not quite realistically.

Thank you, animal dreams, for explaining that NBA joke. I had heard about this, but the name didn't stick with me.

I think Sherri Shepherd was hilarious. She had a lot of good moments and lines. However, I think she's a bad influence on Tracy. I like hyper, weird Tracy, and this guy is too subdued with Anjy around.

Kenneth was perfect, as always. Loved the walk-and-talk bit. Liz: "Can you walk and talk?'' Kenneth: "Usually, but now you got me thinking about it." Then he fumbles a bit and finally says, ".... There it is!" and is able to do it.

His feeding Jenna was great, and all the insults that Liz had provided him. His reaction when Jenna started licking him excitedly was so funny. I was freaked out along with him.

That Jack collected cookie jars threw me for a while. I mean, I just didn't buy it. The reason behind it was good and made sense, but I still think it wasn't the best choice for what he would collect. However, Kenneth's cookie jar story was terrific. (I loved all his mentions of 'Ron.')

EnOrme was perfect. Seems I remember something in the news a while back about someone complaining about perfume advertising targeting slim women, therefore shunning heavy women. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but this is what I thought of when Jenna mentioned her perfume.

I'll watch again and see if I like it any better. Like I said, there were lots of good moments, but overall I was left unsatisfied. And again I wonder if I shouldn't watch it immediately after My Name is Earl since the tones are so different.

Yup. I feel the exact same way.

I still absolutely love this show and I'm definitely entertained but I'm really disliking the slower pace and it drags a little for me at times. I LOVE when this show's pace is crazy a la "Tracy Does Conan" - it forces me to rewatch the episodes obsessively, looking for new things to love and moments I may have missed.

As much as I love Jenna, Kenneth, and Tracy, I'd be fine with a little less focus on them if it means more Toofer, Frank, Cerie, Josh, etc. I don't mean to get all sentimental but I really do miss all those characters, and I loved the dynamic of the writers' room (I think it provided some of the best "throwaway" moments), Toofer and Frank's antics (c'mon this would be a perfect opportunity for them to mess with Jenna) and Liz's relationship with Pete (honestly, I barely noticed him in this episode). I just feel like the show is missing a little something. And I'm sorry, but I just don't like Angie/Anjay (hee) all that much - she's okay in small doses but honestly she bugged me, and I do not like a subdued Tracy - his brand of crazy and absolute randomness is half his charm for me. The "white hand" thing was hilarious though.

With that said, I still love a lot of things about this episode.

I have such a soft spot for Kenneth. Him trying to "walk and talk" cracked me up.

I absolutely love Jonathan and his...um..."adoration" for Jack - really nice continuity there. I loved the annoyed look he had on his face when Liz "intruded" on his precious moment with Jack and the "You always ruin everything!" I NEED more Jonathan on this show.

I found Jack's cookie jar obsession kind of weird but Steve Buschemi was awesome.

I loved Jack's fake phone bit - I need to use that sometime.

I heart Jane Krakowski so much. I think she's doing a really wonderful job with the material and I was cracking up at the Enorme commercial. "Make him chase the chunk." I so hope Jenna gets to play Ms. Pacman in the live action Atari movie.

Liz and Jackie Mason? Wow. Just wow. Good stuff.

Overall a solid episode but not outstanding. Meh. I still heart this show so disgustingly much, but I'd like the pace to pick up a little more and some more cast integration.
pennylane83
I'm also not totally digging the slower pace this year- although this show makes me crack up like no other. Especially Kenneth trying to do the walk and talk, and that politically incorrect airplane joke (that was definitely one of those, "Is it okay to laugh at this?" moments). And I love it whenever Jonathan appears. "You ruin EVERYTHING." Hee!

Did anyone catch the exact insult Kenneth used on Jenna when he said something about "my" brother (I guess meaning Liz's brother). He made such a funny face afterwards, but I was laughing too hard at the other stuff I missed it!
sophieb210
I enjoyed this episode far more than the previous two, and hope it continues to pick up the pace. There was more of the inpsired loopiness I love most about the show, i.e. Not just the insanity of "an eagle with the head of a bear" but the response: Your respect means the world to me, Lemon. Some of it seemed more like strained loopiness, though - cookie jars, Steve Buscemi. Nonetheless, definitely in the right direction. I was a little disappointed that Tina Fey agreed to change tack somewhat but even last season you could see them changing course as it went on. I think they'll make good corrections here too.
Kaitlin862
Loved last night's episode. I just finished 4 days of Six Sigma Green Belt training and needed the laugh. I loved there were so many GE digs and references. Really loved Jack yelling at the meatball at the end of the show. But does anyone know the exact quote?
I loved that the cookie jar thing was the stuff that would bring him down. Since its nothing that bad but I think that GE would frown on that.
Also
Anjy: Are you looking for a sassy black friend? Because you got one!

Made me laugh for quite a bit. I made my sister come in to rewatch the fake phone call cause that was great.

I'll tell you I don't notice the the change of pace this year. I do miss the extra people but I would rather they don't show up if it would either be not funny or take away from the storylines they do have.
I do think that the funniest stuff is in the writer's room or the stage just cause they tend to have the most people and at least one backround joke. It was kinda of the same as Arrested Development.

ETA: also I love that Anjy called Liz "Liz Lemon" just like Tracy does.
actorpull
Yeah, Tina Fey said they're slowing it down this year.

Citation? ;)

Since about the only place I get tv gossip is Entertainment Weekly, I believe the slow pace was talked about there in an interview with Tina Fey. I was disappointed to read it and now disappointed to watch it. Otherwise, I love everything else about the show.

I want more Grizz and DotCom!
zippyzop
The Live Action Ms. Pac Man thing had me in stitches. However, I don't think Ms. Pac Man was Atari. Nevertheless, I want the in on the lead as the live action Dig-Dug and Frogger. Who knew Ms. Pac Man was fat?

I'd love to hear how much of Buscemi's character was planned or improved. I mean when he threw the cigarette away, and then picked it up at the end, that just seems like a brilliant, off the cuff move, that either speaks volumes about the writing (making it seem subtle) or the casting/directing (Letting Buscemi go with the scene).

I disagree with those that say the show has no pace... just like last year, it is setting up several plots (e.g. Jack as NBC Chairman) for later eps just like last season (e.g. Rural Juror). In the meantime, there are at least 5 "pauseworthy" jokes in every ep.

In addition, I can't wait to use the fake phone call to get someone out of the room. Man, I am such a tool sometimes.
MyAlias
Philidelphia Enquirer from July:

This season, Fey said, "I would really like to try to live in the world of the characters we've created for a little bit. We had a lot of great guest stars last year, but I also feel like there's a lot we could explore with the characters that we have. And I'd like to leave a little breathing room in the show, to let viewers keep up a little. I feel like sometimes it was a little too dense, the shows last year. In a way, [it was] the thing that made 'Arrested Development' so great, but I wonder if it will help new viewers come to the show if it's a little" less packed.
