Dan makes elaborate plans to impress Serena on their first official date. The same night, Jenny is invited to the infamous Blair Waldorf sleepover and finds herself in a high stakes game of "truth or dare." Meanwhile, when Lily discovers that Eric is missing from his treatment center, she finds herself seeking help from her ex-boyfriend, Rufus.

Well, damn. Miss Jenny was all kinds of FIERCE tonight. Could we be possibly be seeing the beginnings of a new Queen Bee already?
The great thing is, Jenny rising to power could hold a lot of storylines within - Blair's fall, Jenny's relationship with Eric and seeing what it does to him, her relationship with Dan and how he'll bitch about it, and what role Serena will play in it all - stand by her best friend, or her boyfriend?
This is gonna be FUN.

I think this episode started off okay and got progressively better.
Dan/Serena - You know, sometimes they come off as completely forced, and sometimes it's totally natural. I could see the whole "He tries to impress her, but that's not what she really wants" plot a mile away. However, I did like the twist they pulled on it by letting them have a good time. Also, their kiss was pretty good.
Jenny/Blair - I'm glad they had Jenny enjoy her evil deeds. It's much more realistic and less preachy than having her say how she doesn't need Blair and her friends and just sticks with the simple life. Also, I really thought she was going to get caught, so kudos to Jenny for having a brain when it came to the alarm situation.
Lily/Rufus - I *really* liked them tonight. There's something intriguing about their connection, and I would really like to know more (such as how Allison's involved). Rufus seems to bring out a likeable side of Lily, so I enjoyed their scenes tonight.
And I must say, this show does a very good job of having separate plotlines, but having them interconnected by a certain event (such as Eric missing from the Ostroff Center). It's organic, and it's not forced at all.

Tonight was the first time Lily came off like a real person. Also the first time I paid any attention to her.
The Serena/Blair dynamic still confuses me though. Last episode they were joined at the hip being besties. Yes, they were a bit cautious with each other and they had their little blow out, but they also made up by the end of the episode.
This episode it's like once again Serena and Blair are operating in different worlds with Serena not being impressed by Blair's antics (and vice versa).
I don't get them being all over each other one minute and then blowing cold two seconds later.

As I said in my post last night, this show should totally be called "OMG I LOVE BLAIR" because I totally do. Even though she was being totally evil, and childish and petty this episode, she was so undeniable joyful and entertaining about it that I can't not love her.
Things to love about Blair this episode:
- Having a rack of fabulous clothes dedication to Serena
- The replacement list
- Constantly calling Jenny "Little J"
- Lounging on that table like Queen Bitch as her adoring harem fawns over her.
- Making her invitation to Jenny sound like a come-on.
- Telling Jenny that they play Truth or Dare differently and then the panning shot to Isabelle and Kati kissing while Blair grins madly and triumphantly in the background.
- Blair's 'drug addled whore' look and act. When she was listing off those pills I nearly died. The lipstick smeared all over her face just made it that much more hilarious. "Diazapam. Lorazapam. All the Pams, really. You know, I don't discriminate!"
- Stealing that guys cell.
- Her 'ugh' when someone said she kissed that guy.
- "I was talking to Eric."
Other Things I Liked:
- I also have to say that I really LOVED Dan this episode. He was completely hilarious. That babbling rant he went on in front of Lily made tears form in my eyes. "When I was little my mother always said I didn't meet a word I didn't like", lol.
- Rufus's hair actually look good!
- Serena manhandling that guy when he went after Blair (aw, so romantic). Not to mention her cute little smile when Blair was all "I was talking to Eric!" Waldsen 4evah!
- The picture Eric sent to Jenny. And this exhange:
Eric: It's nice to be out after dark talking to people who aren't you and mom ... even if it is Blair. No offense.
Blair: (smiling happily) None taken.
- Jenny is LOVE. That cover story at the end was great. Not to mention her sassy meeting with Blair. Blair bettah watch out, I see a new queen bee in the making. You also gotta love Leighton for having chemistry with like every female she's on screen with.
Things I Didn't Like
- Nothing!
- Lord help me, Dan and Serena's date was actually really cute.
- And Blake's delivery of "Something's vibrating in your pants and I really hope it's your cell phone" was unbelievably cute and sexy.

Classic. The dialogue's getting better, but Gossip Girl did have a clunker tonight where she says what's a damsel without her distress. Seriously?

I'm not really a fan of Jenny's character so far, but she was kind of awesome this week.
I'm also ready to reserve a somewhat reluctant seat on the Dan/Serena train. I still don't like Dan that much, but Penn and Blake have pretty good chemistry together. I'll still hold my breath for a future Dan/Blair pairing, though.
One thing I'm confused about--last week Eleanor's deal with Bendel's was supposed to legitimize her clothing line, and this week she has her own store. Is this completely inconsistent, or do I just know nothing about the fashion industry (and, really, I don't)?

Ooh, I so didn't even catch that. But that is true - if she has her own store, then why would she be so desperate to have her line featured at Bendel's? Her store also looked really, really nice and high end, too. Hmm. Does anyone know anything about these sorts of things, or is it just a (really big) inconsistency?
Anyways, I think my favorite moment of the entire episode was when Blair was trying to cause a diversion at the Ostroff Center, and she was listing off all the pills - "All the pams. Really, I don't discriminate!" - seriously, that was priceless.
I feel like the episodes keep getting better and better. And I really enjoyed Jenny this week - I was actually expecting her to get into trouble at the end of the episode, but I'm glad she didn't, because that she was seriously fierce at the end, when she was pretty much demanding that Blair met her for lunch Monday, and then in the elevator at the end. Damn, Queen Bitch! However, at the beginning, I couldn't help but laugh when they showed Kati and Isabel making out, and Jenny goes "I think I'll choose truth." I seriously thought that was too funny, how she went from so naive at the beginning of the episode ("Once, when we were playing truth or dare, I was dared to eat an entire bag of marshmallows!"..paraphrased, of course) to almost being sort of jaded at the end of the episode. Awesome.
I thought Dan and Serena were super cute, so I guess I'm alone on that train. And I really, really enjoyed the adult storyline this week. Lily was a lot easier to handle, and I thought she and Rufus were adorable. Overall, a great episode.

Oh my god, I lurve this show. It's gone beyond a guilty pleasure -- I don't feel guilty at all.
I love that they are moving things along -- most other shows would have:
1. Kept Serena and Dan apart for a while longer by having the date crash and burn to milk it for all it's worth -- here, they rebounded and made it a great date. I love that they speak their mind and communicate. Yay for Serena demanding a kiss, as a guy, I am so on board with that.
2. Had a one-dimensional Blair and a Little J (Queen bitch and googly-eyed freshman who will do anything to be popular), instead they are like parfaits. Layers!
And I loved the druggie-Blair; I have now officially transferred to Team Waldorf.

Almost perfect episode that got just the right mix of frothy shallow fun, clever wit and a dash of cute.
Blair's character is morphing into the perfect lead (producers, writers and directors take note. Serena is nice as the rich voice of reason but Blair is the one to focus on).
No Daddy's little Choir Boy Whore Nate or one-note Chuck. And the episode just flew (again take note Blair packs enough punch and Dan smolders enough on his own when Daddy Hottest is allowed play a strong second fiddle). I don't think it was because those two are the weakest characters for me (though they are), but rather that these characters have to be able to hold our interest for an hour without five other story lines to necessarily back them up week after week. It was nice to take a break from every single trust fund baby. I'd even be willing for there to be an episode with just Chuck and Nate. And of course Dan. Always got to have me some Dan. Maybe the three could have their own sleep over nad truth or dare game? One that sees Nate and Dan tongue duel over who gets Serena.
Dan with Lily. I love the mix of bravado and nervousness he has when he faces her. His is tenacious and smart and isn't willing to play as nasty as he knows she is capable of. But he isn't backing down either.
Blair and "Little Humphrey". Great, non-sappy, moralistic ending. I love that Blair is bitchy enough to be needlessly cruel and yet just as bitchy to appreciate balls in her wannabe protege.
I also like the Blair and Eric interchanges. Eric is so daftly sweet it borders on annoying. The only way they could make him even more sweet is make him sing in a boy's choir that dresses in robes made of live tail-wagging, wriggling with glee puppies. His preciousness is like being tortured by having someone read you the entire Hallmark Card line. Seeing that on a certain level he gets Blair in his own way, just as, ironically both the Humphreys also get Blair in a way that Serena still doesn't, redeems Eric enough that I don't fear having to take insulin next week.
All in all the really strong performances by Penn and leighton and even with the very believable chemistry between Serena and Dan, and I'm so hoping Nate gets Serena after all and soon. And Blair decides to get payback by making Dan Humphrey her little slave. Dan and Blair belong together in a nasty, lust-hate knockdown relationship.

I don't have the past episodes still, so I might be really wrong, but it might be that Bendel's is what she wants to sell her ready to wear line while the shoppe is strictly supposed to be couture. I still had issue with the Bendel bit as, even if a bit more exclusive, the whole whoring of Nate for Eleanor's fabulous and even more fabulous potential wealth makes little sense as Bendels would not be a huge deal. Having, say, Macy's carry a lower end ready to wear but full chain-carried line would mean real wealth for Eleanor.

Eleanor's deal with Bendel's was supposed to legitimize her clothing line, and this week she has her own store. Is this completely inconsistent, or do I just know nothing about the fashion industry (and, really, I don't)?
I think having your clothes offered in a major department store is a much bigger deal than opening your own store. All you need to open your own store is money (not that it's a small thing, but you know what I mean), but being chosen to be carried at Bendel's means you also have talent.
I like Dan/Serena, but I'm worried about how good it's going. Based on his work with the OC, Josh Schwartz likes to move things along quickly. That first season was great, but it had basically nowhere to go after all the drama that happened -- though that's just my opinion. I like them as a couple, and the actors have great chemistry.
Someone mentioned Dan/Blair. I think my TV would explode with all the snark they would throw at each other. Not that I'm knocking it -- it would sure make for interesting TV.

In regards to Little J, DAMN!
I seriously thought she would get caught but the way she worked out of a jam liked that showed volumes. She knows exactly what she's doing, well not at first, but she learns quick. She can manipulate just as good as Queen B can.

Wow, it was so good tonight!
LOVE Blair the Queen Bee and Jenny, the Bitch in Training. I'm glad they didn't make Jenny turn her back on the wildness and decide to stick with her normal life. But I'm also eagerly awaiting her delicious fall when the evil gets a little too over her head.
I thought Dan and Serena were super cute, so I guess I'm alone on that train.

Well, I have reservations (for the train, that is, not about the relationship). I like Serena so much more when she's goofing around and having fun than when she's all tortured and sad, and Dan seems to be more consistent in bringing out that side of her than Blair has been. Also, a relationship with Serena might do something to lessen the weight of that giant chip on Dan's shoulder.

Pretty good episode. I thought it started off a little weaker than the others, but as it went on it got a lot better.
Normally I don't care at all about Lilly and Rufus, but tonight they were really great. It was the first time I noticed a lot of chemistry between the actors, and the first time Lilly seemed like a real person. Everything about their storyline felt natural tonight, and it was great.
Blair is a real bitch. She was nasty tonight, leaving Jenny in the store. That was cold. Nice ending with Jenny showing up at the house to inform Blair that she was keeping the jacket.

As a guy, too, I do not feel guilty at all anymore after these couple of good, if not great episodes. I have gone public with my addiction for this show.
IMO, even though Dan/Serena felt - and in fact was at the beginning - a little bit forced on us, I think it is gone past that point, where it doesn't feel forced anymore. I do think that from that episode, their mutual love will carry them wherever they want rather than the writers' pens - this was a metaphor BTW [feeling passionate].
They were bound to have that date, no matter what. Would have been a bad idea to keep them apart, like you said
Earthmover.
With the exception of quite possible Dan/Blair, I think that Dan/Serena is the best pairing possible of all the young cast (cause Lily and Rufus could end up as a force to be reckoned with). Is it just me or Dan/Penn has awesome chemistry with all the chicks he's met so far?
Overall, I was quite impressed with this episode... and really impressed with the show. Cause I must say that, at first, I thought this was going to be another One Tree Hill (being on the same channel helped me make the link) but, I'm glad I gave it a try. If the quality of the episodes keeps coming up, and my little finger tells me it will, this could become a golden-hour of television, not simply a guilty pleasure or former-guilty-pleasure.

From what I know about fashion merchandising, the boutique is the name and the mass production (ie Bendel's, Macy's, Target, etc.) is the money.

I was a little miffed that Serena wouldn't break her date to go to Blair's sleepover. I mean, obviously that would've ruined the episode... But I am big on best friends before boyfriends. This episode made me really want to have a sleepover. Minus the torturing someone.
I wish I could wear the mini-dresses that Serena does. I would think by now that Dan would've figured out that Serena wouldn't want a date at a fancy restaurant with a town(e?) car. Not that they know each other that well, but it seems awfully... insensitive? Oh well, it turned out cute in the end, despite the cliche "teach me how to play pool" business.
My favorite line was Blair in the club. "My answer is usually never say never, but, for you, I'll make an exception."
The Lily/Rufus stuff is really boring me. I feel like the episode dragged whenever their storyline was happening.
I kinda missed Chuck.

Every time I think I can't love this show more we get Jenny Humphrey freaking owning Blair Waldorf at her own game.

I loved this episode. Both my friend and I were watching it and we were convinced that towards the end Blair would just end up bailing Jenny out because she couldn't be that cruel or whatever. I still like to believe that Blair would've convinced her mother to drop charges after Jenny got caught, but the result with Jenny talking her way out of it was great. Jenny was so much more redeemable (in awesomeness) tonight, but that didn't stop me and my friend from cracking up hard when Jenny did her sassy little head bob in the elevator.
I would be on board with Dan/Blair. I find Serena/Dan fairly cute, but it's inevitable they'll break up, imo, and having Dan and Blair maybe halfway or later in the season would be quite nice. Also because then there won't be creepy triple Humphrey/Van der Woodsen action. I think Blair has chemistry with everyone (if some other actress was with Nate, the relationship would be even more meh than it is now). Dan and Blair could help each other grow up. It has a very Hyde/Jackie aspect to it.

I mentioned this in the Canada thread. The strange thing is that I actually like all three of the pairs, I just wish they weren't all from the same families. I'm hoping that they find other partners for Rufus and Lily, because I really like Dan/Serena and Eric/Jenny. Of course, I expect that the younger cast is more likely to break up since they can always bring in young guest stars for an episode or two.
Dan/Blair might be an interesting pairing, but I don't see Blair getting interested in Dan based upon how she acted towards him in the previous episode.

That was a kinda satisfying episode. I didn't even miss Chuck or Nate. Especially Nate. I was with Blair on being disappointed with Serena for backing out of the sleepover for a date. Like it is a longstanding tradition and you want to break for a date? Eh.
When they finally got to the date part I thought Serena and Dan were kinda cute. They weren't cute when they went all parenty on Jenny and Eric cause that is just so dead boring.
I don't know if I was supposed to be all "oh no Jenny is going to the dark side" but I loved it! I loved it when she called the girlfriend, loved it when she talked the cops into letting her go and I especially loved her going to toe to toe with Blair when she got back. Go Jenny. Keeping her the super sweet sugary naive girl would have been so boring after awhile. I like her being kinda bad. Though how on earth did they get Eric into that bar? He looks like he's ten years old.
Hell even the parents were cute.

Don't underestimate the power of love. It could only take a sad and depressed Blair being taken care of by a funny-good-hearted Dan. And we know this can happen.

I thought this was a really fun episode, and I enjoyed it almost completely. I didn't even miss Chuck and Nate, though I was kind of disappointed because I planned on giggling through all of Ed Westwick's scenes now that I know he's the lead singer of a
britrock band, which makes a surprising amount of sense.
I thought Leighton and Taylor turned in great performances, though I think it's a little early for Jenny to be turning full-on It Girl. I wish they'd allowed her to break character after the elevator doors slid shut as sort of an aside to the audience; she looked pretty evil there at the end! Regardless, I love love love love love love Blair. It cannot be said enough! Love her!
The only thing that annoyed me was the debacle with Serena's cellphone. Lilly calling and invading the Humphrey Hovel was all kinds of retarded because, hello, if your daughter forgot her cellphone then you can flip it open and call Dan via her address book! You do not need to harass his dad for the number! I do not mind overlooking illogic on television shows because it comes with the territory; I even fanwanked that Lilly couldn't find Dan's number because Serena's address book is in code and Dan Humphrey is listed as Peasant. But they made it awfully hard to play dumb when (five minutes later!) Blair stole that yuppie's crackberry and had Jenny dig through his address book for his girlfriend's number. COME! ON!
But, hey, whatever. This show is filling a void in my life that I didn't even realize existed. I looove it!

Considering the opening montages, I wanted to make a sociopolitical argument (something about the relationship between decadence + montage critically). But actually, all I was left with after this episodes opening montage was: Do these shots remind anyone else of the "Rainbow High" scene in Evita? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PXSE-Ti0rg)
That said, I wonder about the intended symmetry in the episode: Serena from the rich snobby class wants to slum it with Dan Humphrey, and Jenny Humphrey wants to dress up with Blaire. Except that where Blaire is playing willing seductress, Dan doesn't yet get that he's playing Virgil to Serena's Dante. Of course, Blaire has a substantial world of wealth and class to induct Jenny into. Serena thinks that Dan has a similarly rich world, but of course, Dan does not. Dan doesn't know obscure indie bands (except his fathers) or edgy dives.

This was a good episode! I'm a fan of Dan/Serena for now. Dan is just too hot and they have really good chemistry together. Leighton is really good as Blair, though it still surprises me that this is the same girl who played Carrie Bishop on VM. She looked so much older then! Jenny ruled at the end, I hope we see more of that!
And damn what was up with that long ass kiss? Went on for far too long.
I was thinking the exact same thing! That was some kiss for a first 'real' date.
I do have one question: How do all these kids get into bars? This week, and then last week with Chuck's pub crawl. They're all between the ages of 14-17. I mean, I understand money talks, so I assume that's how they get into places. But still, only nitpicky thing for me.

Dan and Jenny are in way over their heads and they have no idea. Sure, it's fun and exciting and challenging right now to be semi-accepted into this moneyed group, but they are not prepared to run with this crowd. Papa Humphrey better get ready.
And it boggles me, too, that Jenny is FOURTEEN and already doing all this with seniors. Whoa.

I loved this episode. That was some kiss Blair planted on the drunk guy at the bar. Though I was rolling my eyes at her arrogance when Amanda showed up. Girl, that's how you get yourself bitch slapped or knocked out. I do love Blair, but by the end of the episode I was rolling my eyes a lot at her and this is not the first like that. Her bitch act gets old for me- I think partially because we see so much of her and it's so constant.
I liked how we saw Little J's (hee!) progression through the episode from naive to full on bitch herself. I did think think that her reactions to the cops at the store and Blair afterwards were taking it too far though. Jenny is still new to this world. I thought her transformation up to that point was very believable, after was pushing it. Though both cute, I don't like the idea of Jenny/Eric. He has major issues and she would steamroll him and never notice. She got lucky tonight that breaking him out wasn't a really bad idea because she never thought of him.
I loved Dan/Serena tonight when normally I'm meh on them. They were all kinds of adorable. Their kiss was hot but ITA with those who said it was a little long. I cracked up when Serena was going off randomly about the vespa. And playing pool. She has a very believable slightly ditzy/free spirit side to me. "Not everything goes with surprise." Word Serena. I like Serena/Eric's relationship but Dan/Jenny's bugs sometimes. Back off just a little dude.
I like Lily and Rufus a lot. As hot as Rufus is, that's mainly because I'm loving Lily. I'm pretty neutral on him. I think she's terrified with Eric. She knows he was lonely but has no idea what pushed him all the way to trying to kill himself. At least when he's at the center they're protecting him like she obviously couldn't. I sympathize with that. While I do get more romantic 'history' vibes from him than her- as much as she mentions it- I was still surprised that his ex knew about Lily and seemed to have a problem with her. It didn't seem to phase Lily other than the obvious this is awkward.

I am really loving Blair. Her drunken drug act was hilarious as was the whole sleepover storyline. Jenny was also awesome this week. She kind of bugs with her naiveté which is why I loved how she turned it completely around by the end. I didn't think she would move that fast and it was a little unrealistic, but I enjoyed it.
I try hard to like Serena and Dan, but I've come to the conclusion I just don't like Blake Lively's acting. She grates and it's difficult to invest in her character for that reason. I stopped watching The O.C because I couldn't stand Marissa, but this time I won't give up (she's not as bad as Marissa either, thank god/casting folks). Maybe she'll grow on me.
The parents were great. Lily is terrific I think. She feels very real, and her snark is quite funny. I echo some previous thoughts about the triple Humphrey/Van der Woodsen though. It's kind of crazy and potentially fucked up. I like Rufus/Lily the most so I hope Jenny/Eric never happens and that Serena and Dan moves on eventually (Dan/Blair, please?).
I have to agree generally that this show is really shaping up. I like it.

The Blair/Jenny dynamic is awesomeness incarnate. I can't wait to see where this storyline goes. I love that Jenny stepped up time and time again, until Blair felt the need to really bring her down a peg. And then: It didn't work. Jenny got a jacket and she won the night. The best part was Blair seemed to respect it at that point.
Dan bugged me, but he always bugs me, and not in a way that derails the show for me. I loved Jenny's "You're creating more problems than you're solving." That, to me, is the Classic Dan Humphrey Way of Living encapsulated in a single sentence. I also loved Lily's, "Either Dan Humphrey is an alias, or your son's not very popular." Ha!
Lily and Rufus didn't bug me tonight. But is it just me, or does Rufus always look kind of grimy. I know they're "poor" and all, but he always looks unshowered, borderline homeless (but like he's trying so not really). It's just weird.
I like how they leave characters out organically. No Jenny worked last week. No Nate or Chuck worked this week.
One thing I'm confused about--last week Eleanor's deal with Bendel's was supposed to legitimize her clothing line, and this week she has her own store. Is this completely inconsistent, or do I just know nothing about the fashion industry (and, really, I don't)?
I think Bendel's is carrying her Ready-to-Wear line, which is new. I figured she had a shop. She possibly has one in Paris as well, since she's always over there, and she's found models for "Editorial" before but RTW/Catalogue was a new thing. So, it doesn't seem out of order... I think Bendel's will simply elevate her name to more common. There are tons of designers in NYC with their own stores, and a surprising amount of small boutiques.

Count me to those who enjoy the show, no guilt mixed with the pleasure -- the characterization is just spot-on very often and I love that.
Two things come to mind that I'd like to add to the discussion:
1. I get that the writers wanted to show Blair angry at Serena for ditching the sleep-over and going on the date instead. But that didn't really ring true to me, as (IIRC) Blair was around last week when the date was set up for Friday and even said something along the lines of "We can accept these conditions" and went on to happily criticize Dan's look.
2. As for the use of phones in this episode: I didn't even think about Lily using Serena's address-book in the phone she left at the hotel, as has been mentioned above. My thought was: If *Eric* has a cell phone (he sent Jenny that SOS-text-message, after all, and called Serena earlier), why didn't Lily just call that number? Or mention that he'd left that phone at the center or didn't pick up when it rang?
Other than that, I really liked the episode, Serena/Dan were adorable (especially after the awkward haute cuisine dinner) and I could get really on a long-distance train that end at Rufus/Lily-Town.

I figure Blair decided to that the sleepover that night purely based on her mother going back to Paris and feeling like she wanted a pick-me-up (push-you-down) night, and had conveniently forgotten about Dan and Serena's date. When Serena reminded her, it was totally in character for Blair to be astonished that the date would be a reason to ditch her party, though.

While I loved little Jenny's grand finale, what 14 yr old would make her way alone back to Brooklyn (on the subway) at what must be the early AMs? Dan or her dad would legitimately flip out over that - ridiculous.

But I am big on best friends before boyfriends
I am too, but Blair knew about the date last week, so Serena already had plans before the invite to the sleepover. So I wouldn't consider that ditching the BF for the Boyfriend. She ditched Dan quite a lot for Blair. Or she knows how Blair's sleepovers are and wants to stay away so she can't become OldSerena.
Blair is cool and Leighton is an amazing actress. But I still like Serena better. She just seems like she's more fun to hang out with. It is strange because usually I'm all for the evil one's.
I loved little J's transformation it looks like there is another Queen B in the making. She already gained points by telling Blair to meet her for lunch. The fact that the actress is really 14 makes it more impressive.
I just hope we have a flashback to when Serena was the Queen B. Because I really want to see what she was like to have Blair be her second.

Heh. I love that Blair (I love Blair, period) is just amused and maybe even a touch proud at Jenny's behavior. Her smile just tells you all that, but there's totally an element of "You don't really want to mess with me, little girl" in it. *squeals* I can't wait!
Lilly/Rufus was pretty awesome too. They relate to each other on a very honest level.
And oh yeah, I LOVED that there was an entire rack of clothes dedicated to Sirena from Blair! I also love that Blair only hesitated for an instant before snatching up that wait-listed list! *bows to her* She is awesome.

Heh, Unsure that was my immediate thought about Jenny at the end too! I loved how she was able to get in good with Blair, but going back to Brooklyn all by herself? I don't know, maybe that just means I'm getting old.
Loved this episode. Dan/Serena were really cute- they have great chemistry, and I even liked Lily. It's the first time her character rang true to me (although, yeah, I guess I also need to overlook the fact that why didn't she just use Serena's phone to call Dan?) And I absolutely loved Blair's act at the rehab center. But I think I just got distracted in that scene because the nurse played the Grandma on Ghostwriter!

I do have one question: How do all these kids get into bars? This week, and then last week with Chuck's pub crawl. They're all between the ages of 14-17. I mean, I understand money talks, so I assume that's how they get into places. But still, only nitpicky thing for me
This is something that was always confusing about the books that has made its way onto the show. It was never explained in the books either, I guess chalk it up to another perk of being wealthy NY kids.

I figure the same way all the Disney kids get into Hyde. Money and clout.

I don't think Blair was really mad. The way it played to me was: She wanted to test if Serena would bow down to her Queen Bee status and break her plans for her. When Serena didn't, she just moved on in the Blair Bitchy way, that way saving face in front of the minions. I think she respects the fact that Serena makes moves based on her own desires. I'ts how Serena has always been it seems. I say that because of S's conversation with Mrs. Waldorf last week.
And the club scene. I don't think Blair or Serena take Blair's bitchy-ness to heart. It's just her snarky nature to say things like "I was talking to Erik." Serena even smirked afterwards. I don'tthink they are hot/cold. I think this is the way their friendship should be. More one-on-one, instead of hanging with the in-crowd together.
I don't know guys. I think we shouldn't worry about the Humphry/VD Woodson trifecta of shipping. I think that Jenny is Erik's F-hag. The way their relationship plays out it seems more girlfriend to girlfriend than boyfriend/girlfriend.
Blair is a uber bitch, but she is great. Love her on my screen. Hate her if she was in my presence.

Okay so this is the tiniest nitpick, but did anyone else think that there were an ungodly amount of commercials last night? Everytime I looked up there was another really long break.
I liked that Blair apparently has more friends than the rainbow coalilition of bitchiness. I just want these side characters to be fleshed out a little bit.
Blair and Eric were great together. They totally play off each other in a way that shows they've been around each other for years. The bickering banter is almost like siblings in that its mean without malice.
Lily apparently has a soul apparently, interesting.
And Jenny. Wow-I love that we are watching a Queen Bee in the making. She's a social climber for sure.
Too bad next week we have to deal with the rapist!Chuck storyline.
I love the juxtaposition of having a completely normal teenaged activitiy- a sleepover, combined with the crazy-ass over-the-top extravagent lifestyle. There's something very cool about the martinis compared to Jenny walking in with a sleeping bag

That's an interesting thought; the way you're describing it makes Blair seem much more calculating and, well, bitchy (which, btw, is an awesome mode to see her in, I agree). I didn't see it as Blair testing Serena by trying to break her plans, but rather her not remembering (or not caring to remember) the date and being miffed (better than my previous choice of word, "angry") when Serena didn't choose her over Dan anyway.
I am wondering, though, if we were supposed to see her inviting Jenny and testing her to the limit (breaking Eric out, setting Jenny up to be arrested) as Blair's way of getting back at Dan (or Serena through Dan) for sort of ruining the sleep-over?

Sometimes I cringe when I watch this show but then the love comes back. I like how Blair respects the people in her circle more when they stand up to her (S & J are the only ones who say "no" (ie "the plan is Dan"))
As for the Lilly and Rufus - I like how it is being developed that whatever they were was not random acts of nakedness but actually meant something to both. However the families are incestuous and that is odd.

it is remarkably easy to get into bars without being carded if you are well dressed, attractive, and act like you belong. Plus, they probably can afford fake ids. Things may have changed in fifteen years, but the going to bars rings true to my NYC pre-21 experience.

Dude, read the recaplet! I think Jacob actually liked Dan this week. Granted, I did find him pretty grating during the interview for being an usher for the Ivy Week party and this week he and Serena were quite adorable. Like quite a few others before me, I like that they didn't have him blow the entire date after Serena paid for dinner. Now if only those two could have a whole date without having to run to the rescue of one of their siblings.
