From CBS.com:
The Town Council announces the Kids will have the opportunity to choose new leaders. Olivia vows to take down Anjay in elections and a heated clash erupts between two Kids.
BurgersPop
One of the better episodes so far, IMO. I was amazingly happy when Greg won the star.
PetuniaP
I'll admit it.....I am a Taylor fan! I love her no-nonsense unsentimental pragmatism. Sure, she can be a brat but I think she is a born leader and makes great decisions. I am glad that Zach won though....it's good for Taylor to gain some humility and Zach is a very hard worker.

Oh golly, I teared up when Greg said the gold star meant he was going to college......yay for the tough guy!

I'm so glad Anjay kicked Olivia's butt. And even when Anjay tried to be a good guy, she was an ungracious loser...now that's a little girl I can't stand.
TheCustomOfLife
I'm so happy Taylor got voted off, but even more happy that sanctimonious Olivia got a smackdown at the elections. I'm so over her. She bugged me more than Taylor this episode.

The Markelle/Leila spat really does prove that despite editing, these are really just kids. Markelle did the kid thing by tearing down the poster, and Leila did the kid thing by going "OH MY GOSH NO!" and then crying. I'm just happy Greg helped her feel better.
MyEyesSee
The reign of Taylor is over! (Though she will still be a terror.) Viva la Revolucion!
RandomWatcher
These kids are idiots:

Holy books vs putt putt
Winner: holy books

Barbeque vs toothpaste, floss and toothbrushes
Winner: dental care

It's no wonder Taylor got voted out. Speaking of which, I'm betting from here on out, she undermines everything the new leaders do.
Going Green
I cannot believe how much of a jerk (and a sore loser) Olivia was to Anjay. Geez...she was really a brat. I'm very glad that Greg helped keep Anjay in "power".

Thank God for the end of Taylor. And from the looks of the preview, Zach is finally threatening to garnish the wages of the lazy girls on yellow.
mountainair
First off: GREG GOT HIS STAR!!!!! Wooo!! I am so happy for him! I was really shocked they chose him over Zack. I wish they hadn’t shafted him on the phone call; I wanted to see what his parents were like, not a 2 second blip. Oh well at least he finally got it!

So So glad Taylor is off the council. What a blow to her that one of her “friends” voted against her. Taylor just knew she had it in the bag as did Mike. I felt bad for Mike. Did anyone vote for him? If I had to choose I daresay I’d prefer Mike over Anjay.

Anjay has quite a temper does he not? Chill out dude. Wow!

Guylan kind of irks my nerves a bit, not sure why.

And I can’t believe I’m saying this but I am leaning toward Olivia beating out Taylor for child I most dislike on this show. I have cousins I fear are turning out like Olivia, and that’s really not a good thing.

Next week looks awesome re: Zack:

If you don’t want to do your job you wont get paid! He is all kinds of awesome just for saying that!!
Hotspur
Wow, this episode was worth waiting for!

Poor Mike, he got creamed in the election. I was sorta sad for him, especially considering he finally gave Greg the gold star.

I wanted Zach to win the star, but when Greg broke down, I was happy for him. Besides, Zach's a council member now!

The Reign of Taylor is over...oh gosh, that's why I'm Zach's biggest fan. I actually repeated "Viva La Revolution" again, that was just...so brilliant and snarky and summed up the whole episode.

This is why I watch this show!
TheCustomOfLife
I felt bad for Mike. Did anyone vote for him?

Himself. Other than that, no.
Super C
I know I have been rooting for Greg to win the gold Star that I felt he had deserved but for some reason today came of so darn anti climatic to me. Everyone else got a one minute phone call with their folks and Greg got a ten second blip. Anyways I'm glad he finally won.

Mike is still a spazz.

I love Zach!
Guylan is a magnificent kid.

I don't know how I felt about Markelle ripping down the little sycophant's poster for one reason and one reason only... Taylor wasn't the one who burst into tears.

Anjay vs Olivia.. meow!

ETA: I would rather have NO teeth and have some delicious meat if given the choice! I'd gum the the ribs and lick the steak if I had to! These children are quite peculiar if you ask me.
fostersmom
Man, I'm glad at least one little girl has a brain and voted against that little terror, Taylor. She's just a very unlikable child.

Greg made me cry when he won.

Between what we saw this week and the previews for next week, what's the stand on violence on this show? What happens if one kid hits another? We were pretty close this week.
nac216
Awwww..great episode.

Very happy for Greg, and I'm convinced Zach will run for President one day!

I thought Taylor took it very well until the previews. She actually kicks Anjay?
What a brat.
Arcadiasw
Viva la Revolucion! Yes, the bitch is knocked off her throne! Go Zach! From next week preview I like his leadership style already. No work, no pay! Good. Taylor picking a fight with Anjay. How pathetic.

Anjay blew it in the challenge! What was he doing sending Mallory and Alex out there to break the pinata? He should've been sending Greg, Blaine, Olivia and all the other big kids out there. Kelsey is lazy. She just wants Taylor to win because she doesn't want to do anything. Wasn't Kelsey actually useful once when she and Zach worked in the kitchen while Taylor slept in? I guess Taylor's laziness got to her.

I wonder how much weight these kids loss the past two weeks. We know they haven't been eating well. (Yellow team)

Who said, "I need meat. I'm a man!" That was so funny!

Again the kids are cheated out of food! They are starving thanks to the yellow team not getting off their butts to cook. On the other hand, the kids do need to brush their teeth. I think Taylor was thinking about her own teeth more than the others. Still, I would've gone with the food. The kids are starving and as shown earlier with Sophia and Morgan they found ways to clean their teeth.

Olivia is a little bitch. Not surprised she lost.

If I were Markell, I would've done the same thing. Actually, I would've done more. I would've smack Taylor on the back of her head when Laurel and others confronted Taylor in the saloon.

Yay! Greg finally got the star!!! About time!! I suspected it as much when the choices were Greg and Zach and Taylor has a grudge against Zach now. What suck is his phone call was cut short while the others winner callers were longer.

Mike's the only one who voted for himself. Damn! What a landslide victory for Guylan. Hope he does better than Mike. Not surprised Mike didn't see the error of his ways and doesn't understand why he was voted off.
blackrose602
Pretty much the perfect episode, IMO! My entire family erupted in cheers when Greg got the gold star, Guylan replaced Mike and Zach replaced Taylor. Anjay beating out sanctimonious Olivia was definitely icing on the cake. The look on her face was priceless!!

Stupid, stupid, stupid decision to turn down the feast...did the council not realize that pretty much assured the end of their reign? I'd have taken the meat over the toothbrushes any day. It's only 40 days and they do have baking soda. Ah well, I'm too happy about the rest of it to even snark properly!

Can't wait to see the new council whip the town into shape next week!!
Feberin
Great episode! I was so happy when Olivia lost! And I was impressed by the green team deciding not to run anyone against Laurel. I thought it showed some maturity on their part and helped keep them a united team. I really wish they would have let all the kids vote for their leaders so silly little in-team spats couldn't possibly result in poor judgement. But at least everything turned out okay in the end. I'll be interested to see what Guylan does. He seems to think he'll change everything but I doubt it.
Hotspur
Well, Olivia will never win a gold star now, Anjay hates her and she could only use the birthday excuse once. What a self-rightious cruel girl, she had the chance to be gracious and she looked horrible. She got three votes, one of hers, one of her sisters and one friend. Pathetic.

And Taylor having a physical fight with a guy older than her? Can they duck witches in this town? Thank God, Zach is docking wages.
lulu514
YAY! Greg finally got his gold star. I'm so glad for him. And I'm so so happy Zack ousted Taylor. That was long overdue and I think Zack will be great. I wasn't a fan of Mike's, but I felt sad for him to pretty much be unanimously voted out - I imagine his one vote was his own. That's a tough loss. Will be interesting to see how Guylan does as a council leader. And how cool was it that everyone on Green was happy with Laurel? and that they finally got out of labourer class. All in all, a great episode.

Thank god Taylor is out of there. She needed a kick in the pride bone. I did feel bad for Mike, though. No matter how great Guylan probably is, it's really upsetting and embarrasing to learn that nobody voted for you. Not even a pity vote.

I love the green team. I adored their meeting, and I liked how much they respected Laurel. Again, some good quotes from Michael, who will always be my favorite. Also glad that they're not the laborers anymore. I just wish they got the presidential order right the first time! Did anyone else see Laurel kind of shove Taylor away in order to reach the buzzer first?

Also loved Greg. His speech was amazing, and I like how he gave out the hugs. He really is either getting a better edit, or getting a lot more sentimental. I'm a fan.
TheCustomOfLife

The difference between her and Taylor is that Taylor really doesn't care what people think of her actions, and more likely than not, she knows they're wrong and does them anyway. With Olivia, she's convinced every single harebrained thing she says is correct, and that's what unnerves me about her.
lnboz
Viva La Revolucion! I'm so glad he's going to start docking wages for slackers next week. Now, how about giving the gold star to the Taylor groupie who defected and voted for Zach?
mountainair
I was ok with their choice of prize, only because I am a compulsive brusher/flosser. However at that age, I would have been pissed not to get the meat. On the other hand Laurel, like I did, has braces which I can only imagine tears your fingers up when brushing like Sophia showed us.

Question: Is the meat only what you see is what you get, or would they have gotten an unlimited supply?
CookieChica
I know I have been rooting for Greg to win the gold Star that I felt he had deserved but for some reason today came of so darn anti climatic to me. Everyone else got a one minute phone call with their folks and Greg got a ten second blip.

Every other week this show has been on, I have been traveling . This week, my husband watched with me tonight claiming he never watches this "stupid show". Except when Greg got the ten second blip, he said, "Last week they showed a whole minute of that girl that won!" I was pleasantly surprised he won... I figured the council (minus Taylor) would assume that this was Zach's last chance since he was most likely to win the election.

I felt a little bad for Mike... except his "Guylan's more of a follower" schtick bugged. Guylan seemed to just be cooperating and allowing the leader to lead until an opportunity arose.

And cheer up, Taylor! I dislike Olivia way more than you. This week, anyway...
SunniLee
Go Zach! What a relief that Witch #1 is off the council. Now if they can just push Witch #2 (Olivia) off her high horse, I will be satisfied. Someone needs to teach that child the value of losing with grace. What a nasty little shrew this one turned out to be!

It'll be interesting to see the new Red leader in action. [embarrassed]Am I the only one who thought he was a girl at first? [/embarrassed]

Bad idea ripping up the posters. Not nice. And what if it had given Witch #1 the sympathy vote? Think of the damage that could've done! Oh, the humanity!

As for meat, they ought to slaughter one of those cows that's just roaming around creating old West atmosphere.
MyEyesSee
I'm betting from here on out, she undermines everything the new leaders do.

Indeed. She’s no leader. She’s just used to being catered to as a beauty pageant queen. She wants it all, but doesn’t want to work, and yet will belittle others who are working. I like how she talked about the little girl’s poster as if she had no stake in the matter. Cunning, yes, but that’ it. She’ll grow up to be an arrogant, sneaky, backstabbing so-and-so.
pitchnduel
I love her no-nonsense unsentimental pragmatism. Sure, she can be a brat but I think she is a born leader and makes great decisions.

Is this satire? Other than, "Me and my homegirls are not getting up" and "I'll listen to Zack tell me the order of presidents", I'm not really sure what "decisions" Taylor really makes.

Not a fan of the Zack plan to dock wages. If Yellow remains in one of the higher classes, I'd prefer a more Sophia-like, free market approach. Don't like the task to which you're assigned? Pay someone else to do it for you. Hell, Sophia and Greg could amass a small fortune.

And, I'll second the notion that the Council was foolish to surrender the BBQ prize. I think it had a little to do with Mike's ouster. Any politician will tell you that the week before an election, you don't fix social security. You give everyone a tax refund!

I'm surprised I'm the first to mention the hilarity of Kelsey's George W. comments. "He's not too smart, but he got elected TWICE!" HAHA

Did you see the camera cutting to the kids reaction when Taylor got a vote. Morgan looked shocked and Michael stifled a laugh. (Funny!) Even Anjay and Laurel were looking excited for Taylor to be voted out.

Did anyone else see Laurel kind of shove Taylor away in order to reach the buzzer first?

I saw that, too. I don't blame Laurel. If I was scrubbing toilets for most of the 14 days I've been there and this was my ticket out of it, I would've done the same thing.
yruneh
She got three votes, one of hers, one of her sisters and one friend. Pathetic.

That's the big mystery. We know Mike was the only Mike vote and Randi was the only Yellow to cross gender lines, but I'm wondering who was the third vote for Olivia. Nathan seemed happy to see Anjay win. I think Greg and Blaine went for Anjay. My guess is Natasha, who got into an argument with Anjay early on.

Glad to see Zach pull it out. Randi seems like the least Heather-ish of the Yellow girls. I think also because she's the oldest, she's not as immature as the rest of them.

Even though I'm not on the Greg Train and think he deserves a lot of the "bad editing" he got, it was nice to see him win a star. The only bad part about that is that Zach's now ineligible as a council member.
SunniLee

I'd have clocked her with the pinata bat.
Feberin
I am surprised the kids weren't allowed to bring toothbrushes and toothpaste. It seems like one of those necessities that they should have allowed. Especially for kids with braces. It could possibly damage their teeth and yeah 40 days isn't too long but still. Yet another reason my theoretical children would never be allowed to participate in a show like this one.
MyEyesSee
"He's not too smart, but he got elected TWICE!" HAHA

IIRC it was even worse, er better. I think she said "...he's not smart at all.." But maybe I just made that up.
casey22
Soo glad Greg won his gold star. Now he can shut the hell up about it. Let's see if he keeps working. Could Zach be anymore awsome? No work, no pay. Yes! I seriously hate Olivia. She looks even more evil than Taylor and twice as hateful. I have this sick thought it's because of his religion. Anjay couldn't be that bad if they voted him back in by landslide. I actually applauded when that kid tore town the poster and the little sycophant cried. Oh well that is what you get for being mean and nasty. Deal with it! Plus the poster was offensive and rude. I wish they had burned it. Sophia continues to rock. When she asked the council if they thought they were going to be safe. With that evil little glint in her eye? I think I laughed for five minutes. I felt soo bad for Mike when he didn't get any votes. Ouch. That had to hurt. Alot. I don't think I could have held it together if no one voted for me. So good for him keeping it together. I wanted to hug the poor guy.
mountainair

Did you catch Taylor saying something like "Kill a chicken!" When the council was talking out the prizes? Anjay said, "what we will do for meat?" Taylor's delivery and the look on her face had me in stitches!

I too noticed Laurel shove Taylor out of the way when racing for the bell. I figured they'd call her out on it. I guess she had her just deserts by still coming in 2nd to yellow team.
Feberin
I was disapointed that Laurel didn't get the order correct and impressed that Zach did. In the end I was happy to see Taylor get shoved even if her team still won.
oxymoron417
YAY!!! The Zach attack!!! Zach is awesome, I can't believe he's only 10. I really really hope he stays as awesome as he is. And I too, can see him running for president one day. I'd totally vote for him.

Olivia gets worse and worse each week. Shut the hell up you bitch. Anjay may have a temper, but I like him a hell of a lot better than I like Olivia.

No wonder I always like the underdogs, the green team is full of class. So happy they are out of the laborer position. The other teams can learn from them.

I felt bad for Mike when he lost because he only had one vote, his own but I think it was time to change leaders and Guylan seems cool. I waver with Mike, he reminds me of someone I knew/was "friends" with throughout elementary school. But I'm glad he finally let go of some of his Greg hate and allowed Greg to get the gold star. Speaking of Greg, I too shed a tear when he was giving his college speech.

Oh, if I was seven years younger, I would have owned that challenge. My seventh grade history teacher offered us 100 extra credit points for memorizing various things such as states, capitals, the preamble, and lastly, the presidents. Ten years later and I can still recite all of the presidents, and I may be a major nerd for saying this, but I really wanted to take part in that challenge.

I saw that, she was so nonchalant about the whole thing that I had to laugh.

Very happy that Laurel and Anjay kept their jobs, Olivia was a bit too smug for my taste. I also feel that the only reason Mallory doesn't like Anjay is because her big sister doesn't. She is still a cutie though.

I felt bad for Mike and for some reason I think Guylan (yeah I thought he was a girl too) will find the job harder than he realizes.

I won't lie, I almost teared a bit when Greg finally got his star *sniff*.

Also, to add FINALLY!! the green team gets higher up in the social scale.

And then kicked her while she was down. And then conked her in the head with Olivia's head. Repeatedly.

What was true when I was growing up is still true today: mean kids suck.

That was hi-freakin'-laaaaarious! I rewound that part eight times. "Kill a chicken!" will be my answer all week when my kids beg for fruit roll-ups.
Jensplace
Mike's loss is the exact reason we never reveal the vote count for our elementary school student council races. My heart was breaking as he realized he hadn't received any votes outside his own.
Arsy80
I actually still like Mike, and I think he's a good kid at heart, I think losing this election is (stupid as it might sound) one of the best things that could've happened to him. He took the job so seriously and had limited self-awareness and I think this will provide a good wake up call for the future. He's got potential, I think, if he stops trying so hard. His district seems to like him, the other districts don't really have a huge problem with him. He's just missing diplomacy skills and the ability to really read a room. I hope he gets that from this experience. He was pretty gracious in defeat.

The difference between her and Taylor is that Taylor really doesn't care what people think of her actions, and more likely than not, she knows they're wrong and does them anyway. With Olivia, she's convinced every single harebrained thing she says is correct, and that's what unnerves me about her.

I think this is very true. I also think it's basically Regina George v. Tracey Flick. Taylor is a "leader" in the sense that she can make people do what she wants. To an extent. Because she's a pretty girl and mean. But I don't expect she'll be running for Class President. She'll just mow people down in hallways at school with her fellow plastics in tow waiting until she gets elected prom queen. Unless this experience and mass public scrutiny wakes her up. I'm...doubtful.

Olivia is that girl who will run for every single major office through college graduation and always chalk losing to "popularity contests" rather than ever realizing that she's actually quite obnoxious and no less stubborn than Taylor, she just applies it differently. And just like Taylor, she thinks being a "leader" is about making people do stuff, rather than inspiring people to want to do stuff on their own.
Calanna
Great episode!

I felt for Mike... yeah, he's inept, and immature, but in spite of being in over his head I sense that he really wanted to grow into his position and that in fact, he has grown since the beginning. I think that if he can learn from the experiences of his first two weeks, instead of letting them crush his soul, he'll emerge stronger when he matures some.

Anjay won because he had no real opponent... but his temper worries me. Yeah, Olivia was a tool to him when he tried to be gracious after his win, but he seems to take things very personally and really let them get under his skin way too much.

Laurel - I have always really liked her. She is not perfect, but she seems like a very grounded young lady and comfortable in her own skin. I am glad she ran unopposed, but have to wonder if the others on her team didn't want to run because they didn't want to be out of the running for a gold star.

I'm glad Zach ran, although I hope that eventually he is back off the council so he has a chance to win the gold star. However, I also hope that he keeps his head and doesn't let his victory inflate his ego. I leader needs to be calm and steady, not all wound up with an inflated sense of importance.

Is anyone else wondering why in the heck this show is so compelling? I had no idea I would like it this much, I really care about the kids and what happens in Bonanza City... why is that?
igoback
Olivia annoys the crap out of me. She just seems so much like a younger version of many of my close-minded classmates (bible belt for the lose). I've wandered if that's why she singles Anjay out. There's no evidence of that of course so I'm not accusing her of it, but it's something that has passed my mind a time or two.

Congrats for Zach. I kind of hoped he would've gotten the gold star since it was obvious he was going to be on council so now he won't have a chance. And I think what he's doing with their wages is a great idea, haha.

So cute when Greg comforted that little girl. Markell was just an asshole, that wasn't right what he did. It wasn't even his team!

ETA: I think that we only get snippets of the reasons of Anjay's anger. It seems like, when he had his back to the camera and Olivia came to say that she's running against him she had already been saying stuff right then and it got edited out. That's how I interpreted it, anyway...I'm not saying he doesn't have a bit of anger (him yelling at Blaine and other times come to mind) but I think right then and at least one other time to me the editing seemed off and I thought there had been previous conversation not shown.
Carthage
Fantastic episode.
mountainair: And I can’t believe I’m saying this but I am leaning toward Olivia beating out Taylor for child I most dislike on this show. I have cousins I fear are turning out like Olivia, and that’s really not a good thing.

I am so with you, it's not even funny. The Taylors of the world self-select out, for the most part. You can avoid them if they grow up without, you know, "growing up." The Olivias, however, are a lot more corrosive. Her attitude of superiority is tinged with what I believe to be contempt for non-Christians, like Ajay. I wonder if her incredibly ungenerous "concession speech" would have been the same if Ajay wasn't a "heathen" Hindu. She makes me sad.
casey22: Soo glad Greg won his gold star. Now he can shut the hell up about it. Let's see if he keeps working.

Heh. I agree re: his complaining about not winning. And I've never been on the Greg train. But I predict we'll see him continue to work for the remainder of the show. He may be a hot-headed loudmouth at times, but I don't think he's spent a day of his life relaxing. That's a kid who has worked hard every day since he was . . . well, wait, he's only fifteen. So I'm thinking he's been a worker since he hit double-digits. I'm thinking child labor statute issues.

One last thought: I think they've got the right host for this series. Jonathan fits the theme, for whatever reason. He's inoffensive, unobtrusive, and (it seems) pretty well-liked by the kids. Not bad--and I don't think that's an easy job.
JB11
Yeah it was really sad to see Mike loose, I almost cried. But then it was really sweet when we was going to sit down and the girl Jasmine says “I love you Mike” And everyone gave him hugs. It shows you that they didn’t dislike Mike, they just wanted a change. I bet it made Mike feel good. He'll probably have a better experience off the council rather than on it.

And hopefully Greg & Mike will be cool now, considering that Mike isn't holding a grudge anymore.

Olivia is straight evil! The way she treats Anjay. What the hell did he do to her? I think she doesn't like him b/c he's Hindu.
iMissEthan
At least we didn't hear "I'll go tally the votes".

I'd love to know where Zach goes to school. He seems well versed in the French Revolution and Che Guevara. He reminds me of a younger Nick Simmons (Gene Simmons' son).

I hope to see Taylor keeping her word to work hard, even though she lost the election, but something tells me I'm going to be very disappointed next week.
mountainair
Markell was just an asshole, that wasn't right what he did. It wasn't even his team!

personally, I loved it! I wish I could have been there to help. I do think that maybe seeing such an outrage in Bonanza regarding Taylors reign from the OTHER teams may have influenced her little friend to vote for Zack. Or maybe I'm giving her too much credit?
Setlist
At least we didn't hear "I'll go tally the votes".

Hahah! I was somewhat expecting it! Don't think that the 5 minute ads for Survivor during commercial breaks went unnoticed.

I kind of hoped they wouldn't go the "Survivor" route with the voting, but they did anyway. I know it was for dramatic effect and ratings, but it was still harsh. At least nobody got voted out of Bonanza.

I wonder if there will be any Randi vs. Taylor tension, now that we know who went against her. I'm glad someone did. I wonder if the pogo-poster crime caused a change in heart, or if Randi's Taylor-support was an act all along.

I think most of Laurel's team has one a gold star.

The only ones who haven't are:
Campbell
Eric
Hunter
Kennedy
Savannah

And I don't see any of them having been the kids to run anyways. I think Sophia and Michael were the primary opponents but when they both decided that they weren't interested in serving as a town council member for whatever reasons.

Good point. I didn't really consider who could have opposed her that didn't already win a star... that makes it more interesting that neither Sophia nor Michael ran. I would think they'd feel confident that they could get votes, but for some reason do not want the position.
Feberin
I think they both enjoy challenging the council and speaking up for the rest of the kids. A voice of the people. And they want to stay amongst the people. I definately think its interesting that the council is mostly the younger kids all aged 12 and under none of the teenagers. Perhaps the whole idea of being on the town council doesn't apeal to the big kids who I would think would hang out amongst themselves at times.
