I am completely mesmerized by his fussy diction.

I was mesmerized by how a sealed thermos could spill inside his briefcase. You should be able to play soccer with a thermos as long as you seal it tightly! What I actually liked about that scene though is that it shows that he's not as precise and thorough as he seems or he would have sealed the lid to his thermos properly. Its going to be little slip ups on Agent Rock Star's part that's going to let Dexter get the better of him.

Viva le Carradine Dynasty! It's been too long since I've seen those trademark china cheekbones. Granted, they always seem to play the same sort of swaggering rockstar type, but in this case, it totally works.
I actually like this character, mostly because he seems competent and he thinks "Bay Harbor Butcher" is as bad a serial killer handle as I do. Plus he takes his time making good tea and totally smelled that Doakes would be barking orders not receiving them the instant he landed on the "elite" task force.
That said, I am sure his days are numbered. Some other deadly force is going to come into the picture and eliminate this guy, and everyone is going to blame the Bay Harbor Buchter for it, which is going to tighten the noose around Dexter even while he tries to deal with this new threat.
Oh well. Enjoy the Carradine while it lasts.

I expect Carradine to be around for the entire season. Unfortunately, him not catching Dexter is basically inevitable, so his character can't have much of an impact. The Shield ran into the same problems with Forest Whitaker. The best the writers can do is give Carradine a whole bunch of meaty scenes to make his time seem worthwhile.

I was really happy to see this guy -- I loved the character straightaway. He seems like a truly well balanced sort of cop -- still has the fatalism, the dark humour, the inner intensity, but at the same time, you could totally see him being someone's grandpa. And well, "That's Special Agent Fucking Asshole." Hee!!

I am a lurker in these parts, but I had to unlurk and say that I am totally charmed by him. I love cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches too.
Also, Keith Carradine is fiiiiiiiiine.

Even the best shows get better when they cast Carradines. That family's cheekbones just can't be beat.

Did anyone else think he'd protest more before he let Deb kiss him? I know he tried to dissuade her, but I expected him to actually push her away, because he knows she's emotionally damaged and she's already said that she basically views him as a father figure, etc.

I don't think physically pushing Deb away would have been in character for him, because he likely would have realized using physical force on her would probably bring back some unpleasant memories, even if she is trying to keep them under control and move on. Also, I think he let her kiss him in hope that she would get it out of her system. I don't think she necessarily would have tried to kiss him again had he pushed her away, but I think the temptation would still have been there and he possibly wanted to avoid any potentially embarrassing situations in the future. I will freely admit to tentatively shipping them, though.

Ohh, I didn't mean physically push her away, sorry. I agree that would be out of character. I just meant, sort of hold up a hand and say, 'Don't do this, you'll regret it later.'

You know, I've become completely enamoured with Mr. Carradine's portrayal of Lundy. I suspect it takes a very, very good actor to build what he has with Lundy -- a LOT of Lundy's character building isn't dialogue, but expression and body language. He's just very, very natural and as such it makes the Lundy character come off as a real person. Not a character, but a person. That's talent. I think I'm going to search out Mr. Carradine's past work and have a looksee.

I'd recommend watching the first season of Deadwood. He was fantastic as Wild Bill Hickock.

Also get hold of the Criminal Minds 2nd season episode "No Way Out". He was amazing - and his character was also named Frank.

It's hard to believe this is the same Keith Carradine who had long hair, and sang "I'm Easy" in the movie, "Nashville." I half-expected Lundy to grab an acoustic guitar and begin serenading Deb last night. Lundy.... Agent "ROCK STAR", for sure.

Thanks for the link, FrozenBarbie. I've always loved that song. He won the Oscar that year for best song.

You're welcome, Stormyweather. I've always loved that song, too. It still holds up as a great tune. He was also in the Long Riders (a great flick), and sang/performed on that soundtrack, too, I believe. I'd have to dig through my records to find it.

He was also nominated for a Tony award for his portrayal of Will Rogers in "The Will Rogers Follies". He didn't win (lost to Jonathan Pryce for "Miss Saigon") but "Will Rogers Follies" won Best Musical and a bunch of other awards.

I suppose some of us have wondered what will become of Lundy at the end of this season. Will he just go back to DC when/if the BHB case is "solved"? His relationship with Deb seems to have an expiration date, one way or the other. He's made reference to his clogged arteries, and the writers make a point of showing what a foodie he is. Maybe he'll have a heart attack while having sex with Deb, and that will be it. Even if he survives, that would pretty much spell the end of their coupledom. Deb doesn't think their age difference matters now, but maybe she'll see the light, if something that drastic happens. I know, it's harsh... but it's been a slow day.

Oh, I love Lundy! He's so cute with his little sandwiches. I half expected him, though, to tell Deb to cool it with the crude language.

Heh. I love Lundy... I can't believe he left the show. I CAN'T believe it!
