FANTASTIC episode. Tons of plot progression and lots of setup for future weeks.
Loved the beginning with all the women on the phone talking.
Stella, Stella, Stella. Pot Brownies was hilarious though. Loved that Lynette gave them out to everyone, LOL
Adam, Adam, Adam. Loved Katherine turning off the hose.
LOL at the dirty gyno's office. "I just came here to buy clean urine"
Sheesh Gaby.
Edie needs to die, like now. Sadly(now), the guy Carlos paid is an accountant, not a hit man.
Victor's alive! *shock* Ugh... he better not mess with Carlos or he can just go join Edie.
Well the whole Katherine thing at the party went REALLY well! Only on Wisteria Lane...
Bree. Ugh. Why don't you just stop with the lies?
"Do you know when our babies go to college we'll be..."
"Dead?" LOL
OMG! What happened in that room at Katherine's?!

Why couldn't we have a charades party every season?
This mystery isn't quite living up to the heights of the last one, since I'm not nearly as interested in Katherine and co. as I was in Orson, despite the two great actors involved. Still, it's enough to keep me intrigued, unlike the Applewhites.

This season is a vast improvement from last year. Lynette's "charade" of Hang 'Em High was GOLD. I couldn't stop giggling. However I kind of wished that Katherine mentioned to Gabby WHO spilled the beans about John. I can see where this is headed, it would just accelerate things a tad.
And I get the feeling the mark on the floor at the end was from an axe.

This Kat mystery got a HELL of a lot more intriguing. Nice bait-and-switch with the dad/first husband there.
I hate Edie even more now. I KNEW that guy was simply to move the account.
I'm so over Andrew. Probably the most useless and caricatured character on the show. I hope Bree gets rid of him again and he never comes back. If TPTB wants a quirky "villain" around, bring back Felicia. She was awesome.
Stella was actually nice. She did that cuz she cared. Lynette should know that.
Bree, just tell people about the fake pregnancy already! You look so stupid as it is.
Finally some direction in the Gabby/Victor/Carlos story. Getting juicy now. And I loved that scene between Gablos in the bathroom.
LOL at Susan at the gyno. But she's got a point about Mike building the crib, though I'm surprised she told people already. It's bad luck to tell people before 3 months, I think.
Lynette bored me as usual. But I've never heard of
Hang 'em High.
Next week: Tuc and Kevin! Hell yea!!
One weird thing though; why has Gabby seemingly completely forgotten that Victor's just using her for votes?
I have a feeling she's not bringing it up yet, cuz she may be plotting something. I don't know really.

Finally, a great episode!
Susan is too stupid to live. WHY did she keep her appointment in such a "scuzzy" place? She could've gone to Lynette or Gaby or even Edie after seeing it.
I loved everything about Gablos, including the Carlos/Victor conversation. But Gaby hangs out on her balcony in a negligee in the middle of the day, and no one notices?
Loved Lynette at the party and her scenes with Stella.
So, it sounds like Adam cheated in Chicago. And I think we can rule out molestation for Dylan because it sounds like Kat lied to scare people off.
If Danielle's having complications, why not do an emergency c-section? The baby is more than viable.
I don't think hit men are "certified."
What the heck were Gaby and Carlos saying about Victor in the promo? He has a bee in his pants?

Wow I was pacing back and forth for like 15 minutes waiting for this to air. I absolutely could not wait. Way to go d#mb@ss Danielle roller blading and busting your butt. Loved the whole scene with everyone avoiding the party and then everyone wanting to get info so they all were all gung ho about playing charades. Gotta love Sherlock Julie for getting into the room. Kinda freaked me out when Kat walked in on them.
"Charade Ninja" & "hang um high"Played by Halfbaked Lynette::::: HILARIOUS

Best episode since Laurie Metcalf went postal at the supermarket!
Polly Bergen has now joined the elite club that previously only included Harriet Harris as one of the guest star elite. How the hell does a 70 year old woman know what chronic is? Plus she knows how to "score" some that's kick ass (and from soon to be evil Andrew no less, I can just tell this drug deal will come to no good). And her last lines to Lynette, proving she's both a real mom and a delightfully bitchy bitch all in once sentence, priceless. She rocks!
This episode obviously set in motion the rest of the seasons plot lines and managed to be hellishly funny in the process. No mean feat.

I really thought she was going to at the end with Susan, but I guess she figures she is in too deep at this point, and it would only really anger everyone.

Given that it is Gaby, I'd almost believe that it is truly a situation where no one notices.

A western.
God, does Edie need to die or what? I couldn't even enjoy her interaction with Susan and that USED to be the best part of Susan scenes.
I love that they addressed the molestation thing and immediately discounted it. Now that makes whatever happened much more intriguing. I'm loving Kat, she was positively scary when she caught Dylan and Julie in that room. AND when she put Gaby's shit out there. And I like how the girls are calling her on her bitchy attitude, instead of it just being tolerated.
The opening scene was absolutely GOLD, the back and forth over the phone, the way one scene went into another. ANDREW! You've been missed, baby.
Susan is too stupid to live. WHY did she keep her appointment in such a "scuzzy" place? She could've gone to Lynette or Gaby or even Edie after seeing it.
She trusted Bree's opinion. She knows Bree has good taste so I guess she assumed there had to be an upside to that gyno.

The best part of the charades party? The random rare character interactions. (Gabby/Orson; Bree/Mike; Carlos/Victor; Mike/Carlos/Tom/Orson -- or was it Adam?). They should do things like this more often, if only for the interactions.

I loved the beginning as well. It's so great that they're really utilizing Wisteria Lane as a set.
I liked when Bree told Danielle that in her condition all she should be doing is staying in bed. In-joke about last season when Marcia Cross was confined to bed rest, perhaps?

GREAT episode.
I love it when they get the ensemble cast together for scenes. The charades storyline was no exception; I'm already waiting for their next game! Damn you, Tom. I wanted to see what would happen if Bree and Carlos had those brownies whilst talking to one another . . . Heck, the entire party.
Andrew, you bad boy, you. I knew there was still a bit of troublemaker in 'im.
Loved Gablos, and the return of JealousCarlos just added to it, even if he didn't throw Adam out the window. Victor and Carlos have great rivalry chemistry and I'm really excited about what will happen next.
Bree was great as usual, particularly in her last scene and in the scene where she was talking to Susan about the baby.
I'm probably way off, but I'm thinking that Dylan's father attacked Dylan, and as a result, she suffered memory loss from a blow to the head. Perhaps she helped in disposing of his body/hiding the evidence. I'm really enjoying this storyline.

I don't understand why they don't just deliver the baby already. Bree is having trouble keeping the charade going, Danielle is having complications, and she's more than far enough along. End it now, before everyone figures it out! Although it will be sort of suspicious if Danielle comes home from "boarding school" at exactly the same time as the baby shows up.
Nice seeing Lynette's kids for more than two seconds. And good continuity on Parker being the sweet trusting one with the face :)

That would've been hilarious, but then Tom would have to explain why Bree and Susan can't have any. It's too bad Bree's an alcoholic because I think it would be pretty funny if someone caught her drinking while "pregnant."

While this is FAR more intriguing than the Applewhites, I really wish they didn't delve into the mystery right away. It just seems like a setup for a a season-long mystery, to be concluded in the season finale, when all is nicely resolved. I would have liked a little more development for these 2 new characters before the whole "Mayfair" mystery came into place.
I thought it was so obvious that once Lynette announced she had cancer, someone along the way would slip her some dope. This is like the most overused plot. Has any character on TV ever seeked out "self-medication" on their own? Still funny though and would have been hilarious for the party goers to munch on some brownies.

I love it when the whole cast comes together, but why would they invite Edie to the charades party. Susan and Gabby both have good reason not to like her. Maybe they didn't want to slight her due to the suicide attempt? Or maybe they invited Carlos and Edie tagged along.
I wish McCluskey and Ida Greenberg had been at the party.
How will Katherine explain to Susan she doesn't want their daughters seeing each other?
Since they said Danielle was 8 1/2 months pregnant, I guess the kid will be coming any day now.

Really one of my favorite episodes. I love whenever they do ensemble stuff, and I can't remember the last time they did it this strong since "It Takes Two".
I loved Julie proving that she is very much Susan's daughter with the lockpicking. Loved the Gablos scene as it PERFECTLY explains their chemistry ("It's not that you love me, it's the WAY you love me") -- however, it's still hard for me to reconcile the Gablos we have now compared to Season 1, when Carlos just loved having Gabby. I wonder if it wasn't until he found out about the affair that he actually began to love her and not just having her.
The Kat/Gabby showdown was classic. Gabby's a tough cookie, and I'm sure she can hold her own with Edie, but there's something about Katherine Mayfair that makes me not recommend somebody go one-on-one against her. I really think that by the end of the season, it's going to be the characters that knew Katherine before the incident that end up being catalysts -- Susan is an obvious one, but I wonder if the writers have a few surprises (Mrs. McCluskey, Paul Young, Ida Greenberg, Karl Mayer).
The only nitpick I had is that when Lynette heard "Mom, Grandma made these brownies ESPECIALLY for you", I thought that was a dead giveaway for Lynette to know that they had marijuana in them, especially since she had just had a conversation with Stella.
I'm so over Andrew. Probably the most useless and caricatured character on the show. I hope Bree gets rid of him again and he never comes back. If TPTB wants a quirky "villain" around, bring back Felicia. She was awesome.
But Andrew isn't being played up as a quirky "villain" anymore -- in fact, he hasn't since Season 2. Really, who else on Wisteria Lane would be getting Stella chronic? I was just glad to see him on screen.

What I also liked is that they used the entire credited cast in this episode--even Kayla and those Scavo twins no one remembers.
The love between Gaby and Carlos is so...violent. Jeez, keep all glass objects away from those two.
I was reminded of that season 2 episode when Carlos sent Gaby's ex-boyfriend through the glass wall and Gaby was just like, "that's my guy!"

Hang 'Em High, Bwah. Although I feel a bit old since so many posters have not seemed to recognize the reference, and I was born several years after the movie came out. Of course my Dad is an old school Eastwood fan so...
Lynette's mother did the right thing. Lynette wants to remember what is going on with her kids but that will be hard to do if she is so worn out and hungry that she can barely keep her head up. Of course I am all for medical marijuana (no I do not count glaucoma and crap like that) so I am a bit biased.
I think that this season has been really good thus far and I cannot wait for the gay couple to come onboard.

I can't believe we'll have to wait all season to find out what Katherine is hiding! It just gets more and more confusing by the minute. That chunk of wood missing is the floor can't be good news for Dylan's daddy.

I thought everybody in that charade party knew that Gabby was smashing the gardener, save for Victor.
Gabby and Carlos work, IMO. Even with their dysfunctionalities..."I love you. I love the way you love me!" Carlos' jealousy turns Gabby on.

Ah I SO wanted everyone at the party to eat those pot brownies! Now that would have been a good episode.
I thought this was the best episode since 3.15, 'The Little Things You Do Together'. It was so hilarious! And moved things along nicely. I loved the 'I'll pay for the slashed tire. And the stolen cell phone.' And the 'Come on, let Mamma score you some awesome chronic' or whatever it was. I like how they dealt with the marijuana issue too, and didn't make it some typical 'Drugs are bad!' type of deal. Also, it's nice how they didn't necessarily condone the use of it either. I felt like they met a very firm middle ground with it, it was impressive.
I loved the opening scene. It was kind of jarring at first, seeing all the different interactions and stuff but it fit in well. I really have come to loathe the Mary Alice voiceovers though. They're so irrelevant now. And I really dislike the character of Edie now- I say it week by week but they totally ruined her, it's come to the point that I roll my eyes when she comes on screen, which is a shame since she's a character I use to like a lot, and experienced a lot of growth, in my opinion. It's a shame that I wish a character I used to enjoy would just die already. It's too bad that was an accountant Carlos hired and not an actual hitman.
Susan's storyline wasn't too major, just seemed to support the rest of the episode, but I loved the line 'I just come here for clean urine.' It's funny, because before that I said the woman in the waiting room looked like a crackwhore. I felt bad for Susan though, really- she clearly wants to share the whole pregnancy deal with Bree, and it's a shame she's being lied to like that. I was surprised Bree didn't tell her the truth at the end. It was a touching scene, but I thought it was pretty mean of Bree to lie and say she had problems with the baby, since it turned it around on Susan, ultimately making her feel bad for simply wanting to know why Bree lead her to a fake gyno. It'll be really interesting to see how things develop when she finally reveals the truth to the rest of the women. And can Mike and Susan seem any LESS married? Seriously, he was just in that one scene and it seemed like she was just popping by for a visit like in the last 3 seasons, despite the whole crib talk.
I'm surprised by all the Gablos Love we're getting this season. it's great though. I really wish Edie would get out of the picture so that they could just be together and do more than run around and have sneaky sex.
And yeah, I totally agree that Lynette should eat pot brownies more often! I'm surprised she wasn't still high when taking to her mother after the party though. Pot brownies usually last a lot longer than if the stuff is smoked... errr, just saying... And her 'Hang 'em High' clue was HILARIOUS.
Can't get over how gorgeous Marcia Cross looks.. I feel Bree still seems really, well, desperate this year. She's happy with Orson I'm sure, but she seems to be dealing with her past mistakes a lot more than the other housewives this year. I mean, in the premiere we got the whole remorse deal about wanting a second chance with the baby, this time she felt a lot of guilt about not bringing Danielle the DVD playing and worrying about the baby. She just seems really tortured this year behind her exterior, but I guess that's always been her.
I have to say, I've never seen Dana Delaney in anything else, but I really don't find she's the best in this role. I'm not sure, but her scenes just seem awkward, and don't come off very strongly acted. I think in particular, the scene with her and Adam and the garden hose just seemed so weirdly done. It froze on her before the credits or something, and she had the most uncomfortable look on her face. I like the character and think she's a good addition so far, just the portayal isn't the strongest in my opinion. That being said, I did love the final scene- I thought she nailed that one. Her expression was haunting, and the crying was, also. It was a great way to end the episode and really dragged me into the mystery in that moment- what a random thing to focus on. What could make a mark like that? I didn't think 'axe' until I read it here.
I loved Sleuthing Julie quite a bit, too. The line 'When you live with a mother who knocks herself out as much as mine, you learn a few things' (paraphrasing). Hilarious!
But yeah great episode I thought- strongest out of the three so far. I'm invested.

One little moment that I loved, and they do this often, Orson saying to Bree "I'll get your purse.". He is ALWAYS doing things for her, getting things for her, he really is the perfect husband. He clearly wants to cater to his wife but he's not some ball-less wonder like Tom.

Yes, that would have been funny, but there was one real pregnant woman and one fake one there, so that would have been over the top.
And can Mike and Susan seem any LESS married? Seriously, he was just in that one scene and it seemed like she was just popping by for a visit like in the last 3 seasons, despite the whole crib talk.
That was an odd scene. Like she didn't know he'd been working on making a crib? Did he just decide to do it without consulting her?
The other odd thing was Gabby in her red nightgown and robe in the window of her old house. She's not even trying to keep her affair a secret.

It's bad luck to tell people before 3 months, I think.
It's not that it is bad luck, though people phrase it that way. Estimates for miscarriages range up to 25% of pregnancies (many occur before the woman knows she is pregnant), and the vast majority of those happen in the first three months. Thus, many more pregnancy announcements in the first three months end up with the couple having a heartbreaking followup. Throw in the usual problem that most people have with correlation versus causation, and you've got a superstition on your hands.
I hate Edie even more now. I KNEW that guy was simply to move the account.
Not necessarily, the door could be a red herring. Even hitmen probably have straight jobs. If Carlos was just moving his money around, why would he keep telling the guy about what a pain in the ass Edie was being? Then again Carlos wouldn't have mentioned a timeframe to Gabby if he was planning something that ended up with Edie dead.
Lynette should eat pot brownies more often. She was actually tolerable tonight.
OK, so, my college days are an ever-more-distant memory now, but wasn't Lynette acting like she had been given speed, not pot? I only wanted to sit around and do nothing. Except eat potato chips, that was spot on. But certainly not go ninja on the lamp's ass.
Remember the thread in these forums about the teenagers on the show, and why when they had found such gorgeous leading ladies they couldn't do the same for the kids? I think they've solved that problem with Lyndsy Fonseca.
DD was better this episode than the last two, mostly because she wasn't given too many chances to be smirky and smarmy. The bit at the end was was well done. I still wish that she would stop overacting so damn much. That mark on the floor looked a bullet hole to me -- something large caliber and fired from some distance away so it made a long shallow gouge.
So, Danielle is 8 1/2 months pregnant... Carlos is a couple of weeks away from "taking care" of Edie... Hey, what do you suppose that these things come to a head during November sweeps? I wonder what else they will throw on the pile.

Yeah, the young woman who plays Dylan is really beautiful. Andrea Bowen isn't horrible looking...she still has time to grow into her own.
Perhaps that the was first time Lynette had some bomb. It would explain her reaction.....who knows what kind of good stuff Andrew could get. I wonder if Andrew will have more of a storyline now that two gay neighbors are coming to town. As a gay myself(but a woman), I chortled when one of them mentioned hoping they would live up to the stereotype.
I am unspoiled, so I am not sure where they are going with the philandering husband bit with Adam, but it doesn't strike me that Katherine married him for love.

Didn't even think about that! I wonder if that'll be worked into the storyline somehow? And is it just me or has Eva's acting improved? She seemed geniunely hurt when she suggested that they'd buy a bracelet for Edie's sister.

I don't understand why they don't just deliver the baby already. Bree is having trouble keeping the charade going, Danielle is having complications, and she's more than far enough along. End it now, before everyone figures it out!
Having just finished my OB/GYN rotation in school, I'll answer that. Since Danielle's 8 1/2 months pregnant, that puts her at around 34-36 weeks pregnant. OB's consider 37-40 weeks to be full term, by which time the fetus's lungs are sufficiently developed. So, Danielle's baby right now would still be preterm if born, which means the OBs would have to weigh the risks of being a preemie versus the risks of whatever complication the mother is having. That being said, an abrupted placenta is a serious condition, and a C-section or induction of labor might often be the best course.
But then again, as
DanDanNoodle noted, better to wait until she's full term during sweeps, right? ;-)

Absolutely fantastic. This season seems like a God-send. I just hope they can keep up this season one-esque momentum.
I'm in the minority, but I love Edie. She's going back to the way she was for the first three and a half seasons. I think the hate has more to do with all the Gablos 'shippers and fans of Carlos in general. I don't see the big deal. She's a big, ol' wrench in the Gabby/Carlos relationship, but at least she's fun in the role as opposed to the useless Victor.
Stella is becoming a favorite character. She was hilarious all night long. "Come on... let Mama score you some kick-ass kronic" made me laugh for a good three minutes.
Loved seeing Andrew, and I really hope he's utilized more often from here on out. Although I don't think scoring pot is "evil."
Bree unhooking the DVD player was a sweet moment perfectly set up. It really is all Danielle has been talking about since last season's finale, so it was nice to see that when Bree finally felt love for her daughter again, she tried to show it by taking Danielle a DVD player, even if all she could do was unhook the one in the living room.
This mystery is so much better than last season's Orson fiasco (which I never really got interested in) or season two's bombed Applewhite story. It could run neck-and-neck with Mary Alice's mystery if it continues to snake around the feet of all the housewives/characters as it interestingly unfolds.
As far as next week's preview is concerned, I thought the "zoo in the pants" had something to do with viagra. Good call on the STD, though, which would make more since, but I thought "zoo in the pants" = "horny."

How slick was Bree in that final scene with Susan? Her explanation was perfect and allowed her to put enough truth behind the statement to make it poignant while still protecting the real secret. And it also satisfied Susan - at least until November sweeps, I guess. Marcia Cross acted the hell out of the scene.

I don't understand why they don't just deliver the baby already. Bree is having trouble keeping the charade going, Danielle is having complications, and she's more than far enough along. End it now, before everyone figures it out!
Having just finished my OB/GYN rotation in school, I'll answer that....
Thanks,
WannaBeBad2. I was thinking the same thing, though without the professional background--that there's a reason nature sets us up for 9-month pregnancies. Just because babies can survive or even thrive if an accident brings them a few weeks early, cutting out those last two weeks for mere convenience--while Danielle-esque--sounds like an unneccessary gamble with baby's health.
And
DanDan had a great point about November sweeps!
I was delighted by this episode, and it's been a long time. Mostly it's for the reasons people have listed--the group interactions, the in-character-ness, the solid acting. I'm adoring Gablos, absolutely, and... Breeson? Have we given Bree and Orson a portmanteau name yet?

So, Bree couldn't find the number of her old OB/GYN? What if she looked it up in her address book, and found she had stamped it with a big official looking RETIRED stamp? I can see Bree having a RETIRED stamp made up, along with DIVORCED, DEAD, and LIBERAL.
On the other hand, her OB/GYN might've asked Susan, "So how is Bree? Haven't seen her in years." Which could be, you know, a problem.
