From TVGuide.com:

George's skill level at the hospital impresses the new interns, who don't know his “repeater” status. But life isn't as simple at home, where George feels he must tell Callie about his indiscretion with Izzie. Meanwhile, Meredith halfheartedly helps Lexie with her first emergency patient; and Mark and Richard attempt a radical new surgery to save a woman's ability to speak. Dr. Norman Shales: Edward Herrmann.
bigmomma01
Wow George, way to blurt it out there!
terryo
SHUT. UP. IZZIE.

I held in for here up until the faux funeral for a friend. Srsly.
raineyrain
I can't believe that Alex pulled such an asshole move. I was actually surprised, it's been a while since Alex showed his true assiness.
SassandtheCity
I really don't understand the whole Alex-outing-George thing, I think they shot their wad too early and should've had that happened after Alex found out about the George/Izzie sex.

I do think it's funny that Alex "outs" George and it airs on National Coming Out Day.
Nikki528
Izzie is on that bullshit.

Bailey kicked ass all damn night...love her and glad that she and Callie had a talk.

George is an ass.

Lexie totally exaggerated everything she told Bailey, but glad that Meredith set the record straight.

And can't believe that Alex blew up George spot to the other interns. But he deserves it since he's been such an ass lately.
twistedsoul7
Bailley and Callie? I like this team.

I like Lexie. I feel sorry for her. When Meredith said she was "very fond" of her mother, I cried with her.

Cristina? Love her.

Callie kick some Izzie ass!!!
krizmic
Way to go, Mere. Look at you growing. Good assist from Bailey, but Mere was trying to help Lexie from the word "go" tonight.

I missed Mere and Cristina--so this was great.

And HEY! Hi, Grandpa. Emily would not approve of your beard or your shaggy hair, but Lorelai and Rory would be all for it.
clevermonikerr
I find ass!Alex endearing. Nice to see you back!
I don't want to see a girlfight, I want to see Callie be professional, and be the better person.
terryo
I think they shot their wad too early and should've had that happened after Alex found out about the George/Izzie sex.

word. I didn't expect that so soon. so Alex is back to being an asshole? great.
Red Okay
Callie is such a pathetic figure now. I used to love her so much.

Oh look Alex is an asshole again. Didn't miss that.
justaskme
Alex's assholery in the last few minutes was enough to bring me out of GA lurkedom to actually post. First he was an ass to Grampa (Edward Herman will always be Grampa from Gilmore Girls to me) all day and then to bust George like that. I've never been on the Alex hate train but the last few minutes of tonights episode was just enough to make me buy a first class ticket.
rue bee
Jerky!Alex is back. I missed him so! And yeah to pairing him with the world's oldest intern.

I like Lexie. I may drink alone. But I am drinking the Lexie is cool Kool-aid.

Is it next week already?! Oh, please please let Izzie/Callie be at least half as good as I think it's going be.
TVGuy88
"Really old guy" ROFLMAO!

Ugh, Izzie. When she was yanking on the cords I thought she killed someone else.

Bailey and Callie. I like this.

Callie vs. Izzie next week! YAY
twistedsoul7
Yeah Alex outed George because? Then again I hate George so...Go Alex!
Nikki528
I don't want to see a girlfight, I want to see Callie be professional, and be the better person.

I'm sure Callie won't fight her (and I'm sure Callie would KICK Izzie's ass), but she will probably use that opportunity (a full cafeteria) to embarrass her in front of their peers. That's smarter and more hurtful.
Jadia
Only one reaction to tonight's ep.

BURN GEORGE, BURN!!

And Go Alex, nevermind that the idea that the interns didn't find out George was a repeater in like two secs was ridiculous.
ChristaP516
I. LOVE. ALEX.

LOVE him. ::sigh::

I now watch this show for Cristina and Alex alone (with the occasional Mer/Der longing as well )

They really are wasting Katie Heigel's talent. She's a very funny girl....too bad this George crap is making her so freaking annoying. George STILL looks like he needs an ex-lax.
clevermonikerr
It's smarter in the 'less likely to lose her job' way, but it's still unprofessional and immature.
kia112
Oh, man. Alex is ass is back. I was not expecting that one.

I'm so glad Bailey took that approach so she and Callie can kick tail.

George and the "This is not about you and me, it's about me and her" was awesome. Then totally negated by the "I slept with Izzie." But I do note that he said nothing about being in love with her.

I liked the Meredith and Lexie storyline.
Lutine77
what about the scene with Derek grinning at someone at lunch ? was it in this episode ?
SassandtheCity
I gasped and then laughed hilariously at Cristina's mention of the LVAD thing. Though it shows how the characters are written so shittily now that Izzie just kind of let the comment fly-by, just saying it was a coincidence and didn't even pause to think of her former one tru wuv Denny.
adfan

Mark when they were sitting at the computers.

Part of me was thinking that Alex and Lexie were going to have a mer/der moment in the elevator but outting George is normal. He's done that a couple of times before anyway.

Loved Bailey. I will be excited to see it develop with the bailey/callie team.

I know that callie won't throw down next week, but it'll make Izzie realy look like the ass that she's become.

Only Christina could pull a pity party to get surgeries.
txhorns79
word. I didn't expect that so soon.

I expected it even earlier. It was nice of the entire hospital to keep George's secret. And I didn't feel bad for him one bit, not after his bitching about how horrible Callie was for the marriage and everything.

Loved Christina's line to Izzie about cutting the LVAD wire. It was so right on. And how nice of Izzie to turn an old man's death into yet another situation that is really all about herself.

Thankfully, Bailey took the time to grow up and accept the Chief Resident situation for what it is. That I was happy with.

And the Chief and Mark need a good slap. They got that deep into the tongue surgery and had no clue what they were doing? Seriously?
aussieb
Oh I have to post in defense of Alex, whom I love. He outed George so he didn't keep living in another lie. George is letting the other interns think he is like the super intern which is bogus and I'm sick of everyone fawning over the little bastard. I'll take straight shooter Alex any day over Mr. spineless woe is me George. I'm happy to see the old Christina back too - she is a fun character again which got lost last year big time.
terryo
is the older intern on for the season or is this a guest spot?
luvalicious
I like Lexie. I may drink alone. But I am drinking the Lexie is cool Kool-aid.

Nooo rue bee, please put the Kool-Aid down! Although I don't actually hate Lexie, I don't like the actress or the character. I just want her to go away.

I found this episode to be kind of boring. It got progressively better as I watched though, but I attribute this to the wine.

Loved Mark's saying that Derek was hoping Meredith would come back to him and "get all whole." And Christina pretending to be sad. Assy!Alex is back, and I didn't miss him as much as I thought. It's like growing backwards.
bigmomma01
I now watch this show for Cristina and Alex alone

Those two are the only reason I've ever watched this show. Although I am beginning to like the Mark/Derek friendship and would like to see more interaction between the two.
masked_spangler
If only Izzie were off this show, I would be cheering. I love the new Mature Adult Meredith. Loved Bailey and Callie coming to some sort of understanding. Loved Cristina using her fake emotions to steal surgeries. I even was interested in the Really Old Intern a little. I just can't stand Izzie, how she is making it all about her, how she is annoying and just...yuck. Haaaaaaaate. I so do not want to see a girlfight next week. And I do not want to see Mere get jealous over Lexie. You know what would be more interesting? How about, they act like grown-ups as they did tonight, develop a grudging friendship and bond over what a wuss Thatcher is. I think he's dropped the ball with Lexie too (we heard he was a wreck over Susan's death) so maybe Lexie is seeing a different side of him, and is also suffering/has suffered from his weaknesses. There are so many more interesting places to go with this than 'Lexie is hot so Meredith feels threatened over boys.'
Spastic Gazelle
What the hell was Izzie's problem with the Old Guy in the beginning? "We call him Really Old Guy, keep up!" She is normally not so dismissive of patients.

Alex acts like he is being written by two different people with two different ideas about his character. Sometimes he is a good guy while other times he is an asshole. Pick a personality, dude.
LollipopGal82
Shut up, Izzie.

Yay, Really Old Guy, er, Charlie! Too bad he died, he would have been fun to have around for a few episodes, but I suppose the only purpose for waking him up was to be the Gimmick of the Week. The only downside to his little subplot was that fucking Izzie was on my fucking TV screen way too often.

Shut up, Izzie.

I love Cristina and her fake sadness. Is Meredith blind, though? How could she have fallen for it at all? Oh well.

Shut up, Izzie.

George is an ass. He is bigger than an ass. What's bigger than an ass? Oh, yeah, George. (I'll be a little more clever tomorrow when I can form more coherent analyses, I promise.) You wanted to kill her for not letting you tell her?? What the hell? And here I thought that selfish and self-centered George from last week's episode was actually showing a little compassion when he bowed his head and kept his mouth shut when Callie made her on-the-verge-of-a-nervous-breakdown plea. Please, step away from the Izzie. She is poison. She has infected your thought processes and is turning you in a spoiled What About Me fucktard like her.

I'm totally loving Mark and Derek being all friend-y talk-y again.

I'm not feeling Grandpa Gilmore's big ass gray beard.

I love Alex. I know outing George the way he did was mean, but I really can't feel sorry for George and not just because I relish in any comeuppance he has tossed his way after the asshole-ish turns his personality has taken in the last few months. It's his own fault for deceiving the other interns in the first place. So, I love Alex. Though I don't think Lexie likes him much anymore, though I'm sure that'll change soon enough.
BNScrubNurse
Alex Karev is my hero.

Second to Cristina, of course.
terryo
And the Chief and Mark need a good slap. They got that deep into the tongue surgery and had no clue what they were doing? Seriously?

yeah, how did that happen? risk all that so their egos wouldn't feel bruised? Webber? For real?
Vixen77
Where can I get a "really old guy" action figure? He was the highlight of the show and made Izzy tolerable.
mcwoohoo
It was nice to see George address the issue that so many people have been talking about..the fact that Callie married him right after his Dad died. But seriously, did he have to tell her he slept with Izzy? I was not expecting that. If the marriage is over, then why does he need to tell her that, when they all have to work together? Why not just say it is over and keep Izzy out of it (which he said he was going to do).

Alex is such an ass. I've liked him a lot lately and so it hit hard when he acted like that.
SassandtheCity
What cracked me up is that I had my window open and the next door neighbor yelled, when Izzie said she was blondie, "I thought you were Bambi!" That made my evening.
marykateo
I loved seeing grandpa Gilmore! I also loved Derek telling off Mark and Chief haha. Norman, Derek, Mark, and Bailey made this episode worth watching.
BNScrubNurse
is the older intern on for the season or is this a guest spot?

God, I think he was a bad idea period. Hopefully he'll code next episode and die the episode after.

The first intern ever to die from old age.
TeeVee329
Oh man, if I was in junior high, I'd be doodling "I Heart Really Old Guy" all over my notebooks. He was awesome, every scene with him tonight was hilarious, and he brought out a side of Katherine Heigl/Izzie that I reallly enjoyed. Although I am surprised her attitude about "killing a patient" was so cavalier given her history (LOVED Cristina making that LVad wire crack).

Why are Meredith and Cristina still friends with Izzie? She is a total wretch every time she encounters one of them, self-centered about her own problems and seething with jealously that they're best friends and she's outside of that.

Alex outing George was sorta out-of-the-blue (and probably blew his immediate shot with Lexie). But I don't care because George sucks and he shouldn't be repeaing false praise.

The scene with Meredith sitting down to explain Susan's death to Lexie was nice, a solid first step towards them forming a bond.

That final scene with Bailey and Callie was awesome...they will make quite the formidable team. Look out, Seattle Grace!

Thank GOD Callie finally knows. I felt like I could finally exhale when George said the words. Can't wait to see where that goes next because I think Izzie's uppence is about to come.

Overall, thought it was a good ep. Definitely laughed more with and not at the show than I have in a long time.
NYCBadGirl
Yay! My Callie is BACK.

Callie & Bailey.. gonna rock.

I don't think Callie has actual fighting in mind. Izzie is a moron.

Best line of the night goes to Christina. "What the matter? Couldn't find his LVAD wire?" GO CHRISTINA! She's back.

Loved the show tonight.
snowfall
God, I think he was a bad idea period.

I agree. Especially since Shonda stole that from Scrubs. They had the worlds oldest intern (Gloria) first.
ellencs
Why are people surprised that George just blurted out that he slept with Izzie? He always seemed to me socially inept and unable to put together a full sentence. It seems totally in character to me that George dumped that at Callie's feet. What surprises me is that we didnt' see him walk out the door after he said it b/c he was scared.
Bessie Mae
I guess I'm the only one who yelped in glee when the first thing Alex asked when he met Norman Shales was if he was the new OB-GYN. As for outing George, it was assy, but that's the thing with Alex. He can be an ass. He can also be a good guy - he was respectful to Norman in his own Alex-y way. He's not some one dimensional stereotype. It would be unrealistic to expect him never to do anything objectionable ever again. I also like the Alex and Bailey dynamic. Not that way! But, who knows with this show.

I was glad Bailey finally admitted she was having problems with not being chief resident. I was waiting all episode for her to say something to Callie. And, I knew Callie just needed some breathing space before she was ready to hear George tell her he slept with Izzie. And, at least George managed to get that he was going to be hurting Callie when he told her.

The Chief, I could see worrying about being too old to learn new techniques, but I don't get why Mark was part of that story. So Derek could chew them out?

I liked the scenes between Meredith and Lexie. I like that Meredith explained what happened with her mother's surgery and that Lexie was willing to listen.

And, when really old guy was going on about wanting to die, I thought he picked the right person with Izzie.

I like Lexie. I may drink alone. But I am drinking the Lexie is cool Kool-aid.

I'm drinking too. And, enjoying it.
bigmomma01
[quote][He was the highlight of the show and made Izzy tolerable. /quote]

Izzie is never tolerable. She can leave my screen anytime and take ole Georgie with her.
adfan
I liked this episode.

"I thought we were BFF's"
"What's the matter, Couldn't find his LVAD wire?"

This episode had some good one-liners. Even George during his mini freak out in Charlie's room. When he said out loud who marries a guy grieving for his father.

Izzy pulling out all the wires from the old guy was hilarious.

Derek was awesome putting Mark and Richard in their places and teaching Alex to do that procedure without even being there.

Meredith and Lexie was also really good. Meredith coming to her in the end with Susan's chart was well done.

Alex outing George was classic Alex. Frat boy bitch Alex who does things like that.
ChristaP516

ITA. I squeaked a bit....he's still interested in OB!! Whoot! I am SO excited to have Alex back.

I love how Really Old Guy (ROG?) called Izzie on her bullshit.

"What, you think he's going to leave his wife for you? You think it's true love?"

I also like how he started calling her Blondie and how annoyed that made her as payback for the ROG moniker.

Can't we have a ghost episode like Meredith's drowning where Denny and ROG both haunt the hell out of Izzie? I'm sure Denny has a few thoughts on Gizzie. On second thought, maybe not.

I'm also glad that the writers remembered the Chief's niece in the previews for next week. I just hope she's not there to deliver a "I'm dying and my last dying wish is to be Homecoming Queen" speech, causing the hospital to throw together a Homecoming Dance in 24 hours.
quantify
I hated to see Charlie go. When he first started talking and it was clear that he knew who everyone was, I hoped he'd be the one to spill the beans about Georgie and Izzie to the rest of the residents.

My love for Bailey has returned, and I like the idea of teaming Bailey and Callie.

Lexie gets on my nerves. I hope that she'll grow on me, but right now, she's all over the place. First, she's trying so hard to talk to Meredith that she's hindering patient care, yet she apparently didn't care enough to try to contact Meredith instead of, oh say, hanging out in a bar and meeting McDreamy.

Izzie continues to annoy with her complete self-absorption, and I couldn't believe that George is trying to blame his getting married on Callie. It took two to get married. She didn't kidnap him and drag him to the altar.
Nikki528
Thank GOD Callie finally knows.

She already knew...she just needed George to confirm her suspicions.

Especially since Shonda stole that from Scrubs. They had the worlds oldest intern (Gloria) first.

And they probably got the idea from some other medium. Ever seen that episode of South Park "The Simpsons Already Did It"? Many shows take things from each other, it's cyclical and not completely under IP protection.

Why are people surprised that George just blurted out that he slept with Izzie? He always seemed to me socially inept and unable to put together a full sentence.

Exactly. Didn't surprise me at all considering he has no tact at all.
