From
NBCUMV.com:
Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) is finding out that living two separate lives is not going to come easy. After being challenged by his boss at Buy More, Chuck needs the help of his best friend Morgan (Joshua Gomez) and the Nerd Herd, to prove that he is up to the task and ready to become assistant manager. Meanwhile, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and John (Adam Baldwin) force Chuck to go undercover for his first real spy mission. It seems that Chuck’s two different lives are learning to Tango, but which one will learn to take the lead? Also starring Sarah Lancaster and Ryan McPartlin.

There was a lot of HoYay this episode. And I love the relationship between Chuck and his sister. Morgan, who was adorably dorky, is now beginning to grate a lot.

That was about fifty kinds of awesome!
Awesome's White Water plan was AWESOME. And Morgan made fun of Awesome! Great, great use of the Captain in this Episode, up to and including the Tango teaching. And of course, Awesome is enough of a bonehead to teach Chuck the wrong part.
And those credits? TRIPLE AWESOME!!!
Yes, its silly that MI6 would operate inside the U.S. without telling the CIA. WE KNOW!
re: Hoyay -- Morgan is SO in love with Chuck. Did you hear his description of Chuck over the phone?
Ellie and the Bangs of Awesomeness were, of course, awesome. Must be awkward for Sarah Lancaster to deal with other people calling someone Sarah around her all of the time.
And we got an AWESOME Chick fight. Nothing is hotter than an awesome Chick fight.

First of all, LOVE the new credits. Just what this show needed. And the lead-in to the credits had a fun "That Girl" feel to it as they freeze-framed Chuck's face.
This was the best episode so far. Loved the HoYay tango lession with Captain Awesome. The Chuck/Elie relationship still makes me go "awwww" in a good way. And I love that the Nerd Herders are starting to show their personalities a bit more. Add in hot girlfights and great spy action and this show is definitely getting a season pass!

I just have so much fun watching this show. The Captain is great. The Ellie/Chuck relationship is cute without bringing the treacle. The blend of comedy/action/drama is a lot of fun. I also like how they tie the different plotlines together with the cuts.

Just chiming in with my Captain Awesome love! I love that he likes Chuck enough to go white water rafting with him for an entire weekend. I love the relationship he has with Ellie, and I love Ellie's relationship with Chuck. I absolutely adored how she only wanted to know if he liked Sarah, and I liked her sitting around with CA and Morgan trying to plan Chuck's future.
One of the things I loved about this episode was not only that we found out how Chuck got kicked out of college, but also where he had originally seen himself in 5/10 years. It has to be incredibly difficult to come up with a five year plan that includes manager of one Buy More location when the first plan included riches, fame, semi-retirement, and most importantly respect. I admire Chuck all the more for being a slacker partially because he was a go-getter who got burned, and not just because he's a slacker at heart. It gives the guy a little more depth.
And I loved the backwards tango. Very, very funny. And very, very cool.

I love the credits.
Re: Morgan in the cage (with the piece of music that I can't name at the moment) was that a reference to Silence of the Lambs or something else?
I watch with the CC on and when Chuck's year at Standford was mentioned, my CC said "sophomore" but I could have sworn that I heard "senior". Did anyone else catch that or am I on drugs?
And I agree with Morgan. He's beginning to grate.

I missed the whole middle of the ep, but what I did see was AWESOME. This show is made of win all the way through. Starting with the great credits. I love how it affectionately pokes fun at the spy genre while taking its characters serioiusly. Well, its main characters, anyway.
Chuck and Ellie's relationship is one of the best things about the show to me. They remind me of me and my sister.

Do my ears deceive me or is that the band Cake doing the theme song?
Great episode overall. Casey and Sarah seem to have developed a good relationship with one another and play off each other well. And I love how they still mention Bryce in every ep, because you know the dude ain't dead.
For fans of the OC, I saw two shoutouts (since Josh Schwartz created both shows). The first was the Asian girl, who was in the last season. And Chuck's ringtone at the auction is the same ringtone as Sandy Cohen's.

Agreed. My only disappointment was that Captain Awesome isn't included. I hope that doesn't mean that he won't be around long.
I hope this is not representative of its real world ratings in any way.
The first two episodes had decent, but not spectacular, ratings. It finished second in its timeslot. For NBC, that should be considered great.
Everyone said the third episode was the best of the three, and I have to agree. That was one of the most enjoyable hours of television I've watched in a long time.

Bob Ross! Chuck knows about Bob Ross! That totally sealed the deal for me: this show's a keeper.
Now, I'd already decided to put this show permanently on my schedule, but OMFG BOB ROSS MENTIONS!! HAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA. Chuck seriously said that the Monet painting "Water Lillies" had a "Bob Rossian feel". Fucking beyond AWESOME.
I haven't finished the whole episode yet, but I'm with everyone saying that the relationships are really starting to sink in and I'm just giggling and laughing the whole way through. At this point, I honestly don't think they could have done this show any better than they are.
And the new credits? Dude, the little guy JUMPS OUT OF CHUCK'S NOSE! That was another bust out loud moment for me. AWESOME.
Lastly:
"I think I should kill you now."
"I disagree! Vehemently! I disagree vehemently!"
Yep, you guessed it! F'ING AWESOME!

The credits were a good surprise. It hadn't really crossed my mind before that the show didn't really have them. The little stick man Vs the ninja was really cute.
I also really got a big kick out of the Bob Ross shoutout. I used to watch his show and he lived in the town I went to college in. Indiana represent!
Finding out why Chuck was kicked out of Stamford so soon is a move I wasn't expecting. Of course, now we know the what but there's now a question of what really happened. Answer one question but raise another. Good writing there. Plus, it helps to keep the show moving briskly.
Now that we're three episodes in I think we're getting a better idea of how the show will work from episode to episode. I'm still a bit worried the show might fall into a formula but I also think we're in for more surprises.
The spy stuff is kinda run of the mill. I'm actually more interested in what's going on at Chuck's job than the stuff with the arms dealer.
I loved Chuck freaking out his old classmate. I just wish we'd found out if he turned the guy in.

I laughed all the way through the girl fight on the roof. I loved how they were both in these stereotypical Daisy Mae kind of outfits, using identical moves on each other at the same time, like they studied at the same Acme School of Martial Arts and Spycraft.

A

I hope the Bionic Woman writers were taking notes. That's how you handle a girl-on-girl fight.
Anyway, I concur with all that this was a friggin' awesome ep. I just smile my way through the entire show. And I hope the lack of postage is because of Heroes... I also hope that the snoozefest that Heroes is quickly becoming will open up more posting time here for Chuck.

I didn't like it quite as much as everyone else, but I did like it. I agree with skyrocket that the spy stuff is too rote. But the relationships make this work. Again, it's great that Ellie only wants what's best for Chuck (though I can only imagine what her reaction will be when she finds out the truth). Again, Casey was awesome ("I was being facetious"). And I loved how Chuck was able to use his newfound talent to expose his snotty ex-classmate.

I love the credits too! I was sad to see that Captain Awesome isn't a regular. I'd have him as a regular over Morgan anyday. Can't Chuck realize he could do much, much better? This episode certainly was an improvement over last weeks because this was less hokey and more poke-fun. However I did call that lady being the arms dealer the second I saw her.

New fan here – I caught the first two episodes online over the weekend and recorded tonight’s and the show is growing on me. I think it is fresh take on the genre. Plus it’s funny! Everything clicks about this show and I too love the relationship between Chuck & Ellie. Her watching the tango and barely being able to contain her good natured laughter was excellent. And what’s not to love about Adam Baldwin… Nothing! He’s great!
I usually watch Prison Break but Chuck’s found itself a new Monday night viewer.

Why didn't Sarah kiss Chuck at the end?
Boo!
(What, you guys didn't see that coming either??)
Loved this episode. It was a lot of fun. The chick fight, the tango, the outfits, and the microwave throwing. The dialogue was really fast tonight, and I found myself missing stuff. Like, what's the deal with that ex-classmate of Chuck's again? And what was the story behind the killer and the spy mission, because I lost it after it was revealed that the explosive was removed from the painting.
I got incredibly annoyed when I got to phone calls in the middle of the show. I felt bad because they were relatives and I was acting evasive and very busy.
ETA: Heroes is over. Where are the people? I'm getting quite sad. I know for a fact that Journeyman (which I watched a minute of it and don't care for) is over too...the ratings better not reflect the posting on this board!

Something I still don't get from the pilot- the CIA and NSA don't know what La Ciudad looks like, but somehow Chuck, who only knows THEIR secrets, has enough info in his brain to identify her? Why do they need Chuck on missions at all if he is only regurgitating information they essentially taught him? Or am I understanding Chuck's ability incorrectly?

I had a college athete meeting sprung on me for seven tonight, and I was extremely disappointed as I knew I would be missing Chuck as it ran live. However, when I got home and rewound my tape (too cheap for DVR, see "college athelete" above), I knew mere minutes in that this would be worth the wait.
Best episode yet. My roommate, who only watched the show because it was on, actually laughed out loud at one point and kept flicking glances back at the TV while it was on. Love the new opening credits (although I squicked a little bit with the Buy More guy falling out of Chuck's nose), and the overall feeling of the show. It was...AWESOME.

My fanwank is that just because they have an image of someone in the database, they don't know who it is. Then, some other information is put in about her locations, flights, contacts. Chuck can sift through it instantly and cross reference a name to locations to a face.
I liked the episode. I love when Adam Baldwin looms. Some great fanservice in the show too.
I didn't like Chuck's sister's dress, although I believe that it is fashionable.

Maybe the lack of posts is due to the fact that the show IS awesome. I mean, that sums it up! LOVED Captain Awesome tonight - his whole bit about a semester in Buenos Aires and learning the tango to get into the senorita's pantalones cracked me up so much I had to watch it three times. Plus he's hot.
Morgan, now he's the annoying sitcom character. Freaked out by old computers? Too precious for this cool show.
And while I do like Ellie a lot, I hope they find more for her to do than sit around the house all the time all googly about Chuck and Sarah. I might be the only one on the boards who feels this way, but she was starting to grate on my nerves because she was always THERE with apparently nothing else going on in her life.
Henry, while a bastard, is a fun computer rival for Chuck. "...because if he's done anything wrong, you let me know". Seems like Chuck's got people after him everywhere he goes.
And Adam Baldwin. sigh. Is there anyone better at playing intense and scary with a twinkle?
"Now I was being facetious.....idiot". Hah!

Just great. A lot has been said. S. Lancaster, amazing role for her and I was a major hater from E'wood days. The spy stuff is glamourous and cool. Adam Baldwin has a much bigger part than expected, which can only be good. It's working well playing off of the Nerd Herd and Buy More themes. Everything moves at the right pace.

No, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the shallow end. I found myself there a few times this episode, specifically when Chuck was wearing the brown t-shirt, the red t-shirt and at the end when he was talking to Sarah outside. There was a moment in that last scene where he just turned and looked juuuuust soooo and um, wow. It was yummy. I mean, the guy is cute, but tonight, I saw teh hawt. More please!

Spy Idol - It's not that he's just regurgitating information they already had. From what I understand, it's that he's able to make connections
between each piece of information, due to the human thought process allowing for a lot more variables and complexities than a computer would. It's not that he's remembering each piece of information entirely, but that he's remembering several different pieces of information (hence the multiple picture-flashes), and mentally - possibly almost automatically - connecting the dots before speaking.
I'm pretty sure that's it... Not only because he identified the wrong person as La Ciudad at first, and didn't recognize the right person right away; but also - and especially - since they keep making such a big deal about their information being stuck in a
human mind.

Morgan works well as a plot device. He should be irritating.
I loved the throwaway, "he who runs when no man pursueth" subplot. Chuck is thinking about how great his life could have been but his two classmates shown: one is dead and the other is a crook.
Got a bit blindsided by the HoYay! It actually worked very well, especially the Asian nerdherder.
Adam Baldwin is brilliant. His humour is funny and his serious bits aren't. I just loved his setting up Chuck with 'You must learn the Tango'.

Great episode! All the characters are so dang likable and Zachary Levi is just too adorable. But I'm glad Chuck finally got out of that Buy More uniform for the better part of an episode. Tux, T-shirt and jeans... good stuff.
Loved the whole scene where Ellie, Morgan and Captain Whitewater were trying to "hammer out a plan" for Chuck's future. It sets up a great basic tension-- they all believe Chuck can do more and because of Chuck's heretofore passive personality they feel free to voice it, but they don't know he's already got heaping portions of dangerous spystuff on his plate and can't tell them. Poor Chuck, that's gotta drive a guy crazy. It should be much fun watching how he continues to hide his secret.
The Bob Ross reference, as other's have stated, was pure gold. Whomever wrote that rocks!
"Man, that dude is creepy." I laughed even harder when Morgan said this because when they cut to Casey at the window I totally flashed on that episode of The Office when Michael is standing at his office window staring at Ryan through the blinds and creeping him out.
I also love the fake relationship between Chuck and Sarah. That final scene was very cute without being forced, the actors have a very nice chemistry. Chuck's reaction when he finds out that Sarah and Bryce went on Mexican getaways together should be interesting. Also interesting-- when we find out why Bryce really had Chuck kicked out of Stanford.

2) Bonsai tree. Very nice.
As soon as that scene came on I said to myself "OF COURSE he has a Bonsai tree." Perfect. Also loved Morgan commenting that Casey is creepy as he's peaking through the blinds as Sarah leaves. And of course Morgan's there as soon as he turns around. Is there going to be some friend jealousy going on?
I'm more curious than ever about the truth of Chuck getting kicked out of Stanford. Seems like it was a deliberate set-up to get Chuck expelled, but we don't know exactly why, or how much Bryce had to do with it, beside being a rat. And of course the truth about the girlfriend stealing bit.
The villain-esse looked like she was from a James Bond movie.

I usually watch Prison Break but Chuck’s found itself a new Monday night viewer.
I've been Tivoing Dancing with the Stars since Season Two probably. This was the first night it was officially kicked off my Tivo for something else. I have to say that I'm very happy with my choice.
Zachary Levi is just too adorable. But I'm glad Chuck finally got out of that Buy More uniform for the better part of an episode. Tux, T-shirt and jeans... good stuff.
Totally yes. He definitely plays that dorky but loveable type so well. It's like a spy version of Jim Halpert or something. And yes, it does indeed help that he's easy on the eyes. The tux and that t-shirt at the end? Thank you wardrobe gods for making a dork look great while still keeping the dork thing intact.
As for Chuck and Sarah, I'm loving them but I'm a little worried they're ramping up the sexual tension way too much already for only their third episode. Hoping they don't blow this too early and make it all melodrama and such.
But you know what? Even if they did mess up Chuck and Sarah, it wouldn't matter because the relationships on this show are so great! You totally get the sibling vibe from Chuck and Ellie, the buddy vibe from Chuck and Morgan, the reluctant partners from Sarah and Carey. And can I once again say that while the Herd doesn't get alot of air time, the time it does get is awesome.
So yeah, I'm in love with this show and would prefer watching Chuck tango than Wayne Newton. Well, I know that's not saying much considering Wayne is a crappy ballroom dancer, but you get the idea.
