The Pixel Challenge
September 19 is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Show your favorite TV characters talking like pirates.. Thanks to sweetjane for the idea. Be funny or I'll kill you where you stand.

The Guidelines
  • Images format must be 'gif' or 'jpg'
  • Images resolution must be web standard 72ppi
  • Image size must be no larger than 100k
  • Image width must be no wider than 600 pixels
  • Upload your images to your personal webspace or 3rd party image hosting service. Note that many 'freebie' places like Yahoo, Geocities and Tripod do not allow images to be displayed on 3rd party sites (eg images hosted on Tripod can only be seen at Tripod, not on TWoP). See TWoP PC Software and Image Hosting for user suggestions on image hosting services.
  • Using TWoP Code post your image directly using the 'img' tag or put a text link to the image or webpage where the image is displayed using the 'url' tag. Using the 'url' tag is a good way to conserve bandwidth on your end.

Ooh! A challenge where all I have to do is add a smart-ass quote bubble. I totally have time for that here at work!

lyonie17
And the Award for MOST OBVIOUS THING EVER:

I'll ... show myself out.
roxyblue5
I just scared the crap out of co-workers from laughing so hard, lyonie17 & JTMacc99!
DocOrlando
When the eyepatch is already in place, you're halfway there already...

LLLblossom
DocOrlando, ye must marry me, and I'll not take 'no' fer an answer! The eyepatch is provided, but the parrot is genius! If only they could work something like that into a blooper reel and include it on a DVD. I think I may die of laughing....
acatmaylook
It looks like a parakeet to me (which is even funnier).

ETA: I love Wilson and his little Doctor Teddy Bear.

JTMacc, thanks for the Locke piracy!! I laugh every time over our beautiful Emmy winner!!!
LunaChick
I know he's not a "TV Character" But, this past week, he has been on my TV more times than I can remember...

Because Locke blowing s*** up deserves to be all over this thread, yet I have no pixel-bilities, someone else should do a pic of the LOST submarine exploding, with Locke in there yelling, "Blast 'em out of the waterrrr!"
idledandy
SunniLee wins the Made Me Snarf Cheese Doodles Award for "Arggh, there be pervs here!" I think I'm going to quote that.
Freshly Ground Coffee
Shiver me timbers, SunniLee, I think I wet me pantaloons!

SnippyScholar, I have a 15 year old cat named Tasha Yarrrr!
SnippyScholar
Oh, yarrrrrr?
SunniLee
idledandy - I be sendin' ye a grog! Freshly Ground Coffee - I be sendin' ye a grog too, but ye be keepin' yer pantaloons dry this time!

Inter-PC Theft!

Edited to add actual talking...

mynamehere
SunniLee, that made more sense than the actual quote.
anakalia
SunniLee, that made more sense than the actual quote.

Dammit, you beat me to it!
kuromaku
Just wanted to say this PC is great so far. All the entries are good, although I gotta give me love to the Locke - blowing shit up, 'tis always a fine thing.

Ahoy, here's an English-to-Pirate translator to increase our fun, yee mateys.

Mal Reynolds's "I aim to confound these bungers" becomes "I aim t' confound 'ese 'errrebungerrrs."

Dr. Phil's "Do I look like I just jumped off the turnip truck?" becomes "Do I spy like I jus' jump'd off th' turrrnip schoonerrr?"

Jack from Lost's "We live together or we die alone" becomes "We live togetherrr orrr we visit Davy Jones' lockerrr like an isle." HEE!
jerusha
Painfully obvious, or just painful?

(Alternately, "Who be ye workin' fer, ye scallawag!?!?!")

SunniLee-- awesome. Oddly enough, I was on a business trip to L.A. a few weeks ago, and we were eating dinner in the same restaurant as Miss South Carolina and all the other contestants. We knew who was who because they were conveniently wearing their sashes. In a Mexican fast-food restaurant. At a mall.

Sashes? We don't need no stinkin' sashes!

Is anyone planning to make Pirate!Locke blow more shit up? Because that is classic.
acatmaylook
For me, the pirate translator just changes "you" to "ye" and adds references to bottles of rum. My method uses about 20% stage "Irish", 10% "hillbilly" phrasing, some regency novel thieves' cant (thank you, Georgette Heyer) and a few poorly understood nautical terms. Enjoy!

Freshly Ground Coffee
For SunniLee:

Aye!, I be blowin' bilge 'n foul barrrnicle up!
The Librarian
Jerusha, that is brilliant. Fact.
lyonie17
Lady Obvious, that's me. Also, THEFT!

LLLblossom
Captain Jack, ye say? So where's Spy Daddy? I'm sure he has something to say on the subject.
lyonie17
LLLBlossom, you should check the motivator thread... (no Jack, though, sorry!)
SnippyScholar
DocOrlando
You can't have too much John Locke.

SnippyScholar
Hot lilly liverrr'd! I be verrry grrrog-fill'd t' see th' Locke lovefest! Aye.

Trini Girl
These are hilarious y'all! I would try one, but I don't want Glark to kill me where I stand.
SnippyScholar
Trrrini girrrl, I be not surrre I rrreckon ye, and a bottle of rum! Do ye mean t' say: "Be belly shakin' orrr I'll kill ye wharrr ye stand"???

Ye have t' be flappin' in pirrrate in 'ese 'errreparrrts.
Anhiaka
NCTibby
Brilliant, Anhiaka! I was so hoping for an AD entry. There must be a place for Buster, post loose seal attack, in this PC....
