Looks like we need an awards thread.
Could 30 Rock possibly win Best Comedy? Well....okay, no. But I've still got my fingers crossed tonight.

Big Yay for 30 Rock winning Best Comedy!
Big Boo for Alec Baldwin losing Best Actor. At least it wasn't Tony Shaloub.
ETA: Best moment was Jack McBrayer's reaction. He was bouncing all over the place. Hee!

Aaaaaaaaaah! Aaaaaaaah! Emmy people, I still hate you with the blazing fire of a thousand suns and your choices make as much sense as blindfolded dogs pitching wildly at a dartboard but I just let out a shriek so loud because they finally got it right. Maybe there's something about the Best Comedy category. This is like Arrested Development and The Office S2 all over again.
I'm happy to be one of their "dozens and dozens" of viewers today. Rock on, Tina & co.

Word to Hello Kitty: "The Office" holds a special place in my heart, and deservedly won it last year, but "30 Rock" was the best comedy series of this season, and good on the (mostly horrible) Emmys for getting their crown jewel category right two years running.

For once, I called it totally wrong, and for once, I am damn GLAD I called it wrong! We were SCREAMING here because we were so excited! (Not a smart move with a sleeping toddler!).
I also love that the clip they played about gay dudes adopting and wanting everyone to drive a hybrid and loving America is my email sig. I recognize greatness. And damn you, 30 Rock, you are GREAT. Let's all go have a Bacon, Beef'n'Cheddar tomorrow to celebrate!

Alec Baldwin was robbed of his Emmy, and thus I held out no hope for 30 Rock as Best Comedy. That made the win so extra wonderful. I screamed a series of "Yes!, Yes!, Yes! ...." and pulled a muscle in my neck. It was worth it.
Happy to be one of the dozens. Congrats Tina and 30 Rock!
ETA: The "What am I, a farmer?" line used in the Best Writing award got a genuinely loud laugh from the audiance (as opposed to the fake, prefunctory laug).

I have nothing of substance to add but that I'm stoked for the emmy win! Also, I concur with
EW's blog11:02 p.m. Dear God, Remember when Arrested Development won the Best Comedy Series Emmy, and then nobody watched it anyway, and then it got canceled? Well, on that note, I'd like you to please smite anyone who refuses to watch 30 Rock in the wake of its Emmy win tonight. I know it's a little harsh, but they'll just be getting what's coming to them. Love, Slezak

My roommates are now deaf from my celebratory shriek as 30 Rock won. I was hoping for it and I'm so glad for this bright spot in a pretty crappy Emmy telecast. Not all bad... I had a lot of second choices win... but this moment was definitely the highlight for me.

I am first and foremost an Office fan, but I am absolutely happy and willing to concede that Season 1 of 30 Rock was better than Season 3 of The Office - TO had its brilliance, but was more uneven for me this year. 30 Rock definitely deserved the Emmy.

I had visions of Arrested Development, too, when 30 Rock won (especially when Tina mentioned her "dozens and dozens of viewers", and I flashed to, "There are dozens of us!" Hee!)
But I think that unlike TPTB at Fox, the NBC honchos have shown a lot more willingness to give smart and funny but low-rated shows not only a chance, but also the marketing and promotion that AD never got. Even with the reshuffling at the top at NBC, I have a feeling that 30 Rock may get the chance it deserves.

I agree about NBC. They're pretty good about giving their shows a chance to find an audience if they feel like it's worth it. They aren't perfect but out of the major networks they seem to have a fondness for quality shows.

Yessss! I can't remember the last time I actually cheered during an award show. This is such a well-deserved win. Still chuckle over Tina Fey's line in reaction to all the nominations: "this is an outrage". I hope they're all walking on clouds for weeks ...

Wow....congratulations to 30 Rock! Not because the Emmy's have any legitimacy (they don't), but at least they got it right for once. This is huge in terms of adding to the critical acclaim that will lead to a couple more seasons (if no one watches) or many many more (if people start watching!) Also I love the fact that Arrested Development, The Office, and 30 Rock have won in three of the last four years. Congratulations to absolutely everybody involved in the show! They all deserve it!

I'm glad they won best comedy, but I have a feeling that Baldwin lost the Emmy b/c of what happened w/that phone message still resonating when the votes went out. It sucks that he lost, but at least he lost to Gervais another great comedic genuis.

love that the clip they played about gay dudes adopting and wanting everyone to drive a hybrid and loving America
I liked that as well because:
a) it was probably the only clip that they played while the winners came up that perfectly matched the amount of time it took them to come up with the set-up and joke.
b) it was a sort of awesome way to make a political statement without the awkwardness of actually *making* a political statement.
Also loved that Tina mentioned gay partners in her acceptance speech.

I'm shocked. I was either yawning or actually booing at the majority of winners tonight... right up until 30 Rock won! They actually got one right.
Great win! So deserved. Good night for Tina all the way around as she was so funny and great when she presented earlier as well.
Hopefully, the win will give the show a little push heading into the new season.

Wonderful surprise, after they lost writing, directing, actor and actress. I was pretty sure America Ferrera would win Actress, but was terribly depressed when Alec Baldwin didn't win Actor - although Ricky Gervais really is brilliant, Jack Donaghy is, to quote someone else from earlier in the evening, an icon, and AB has a lot to do with that...
My husband was watching with me and after the Tina Fey AMEX commercial - which he adored - and the tiny bits of film clip doled out with pincers during the awards, he has admitted that he may try the show out this season, and watch my DVDs with me. Yeah, he's burnt! Or something

Yay! I was watching while talking on my phone to my sister, the category came up and I'd already dismissed the possibility of it winning. Then it when, and I've never told my sister so abruptly to stop talking and that I was going to be silent for a few minutes.
eta. just watched the west coast american broadcast to see them win again. Still a good feeling.

So happy for 30 Rock! I actually wasn't even going to watch the telecast but my sister called me to tell me katherine heigl had won for GA. So I turned the show on and let it run in the background.I screamed so loud I woke up one kid and "dozens and dozens" woke up the other kid! And Jack in the background bouncing around with that big smile!

Woot! Nothing could make me actually sit down and watch the Emmy's, but goodness, the googled news that 30 Rock had won made me squeal like a stuck pig! yay! I wish I could have seen Tina's acceptance speech, but again nothing could make me sit through the award show.
All this talk of Arrested Development is making me nervous. I want 30 Rock to remind me of the late, great Newsradio, because Newsradio ran for 6 seasons (though bounced around the schedule like a rubber bouncy ball) despite poor ratings and no official recognition, while Arrested Development won the Emmy its first year, had poor ratings and only ran for three shortened seasons. But it's true, NBC is generally more easy-going with its low-rated comedies than FOX.
plus, I think 30 Rock has more in common creatively with NR than with AD, though all three are great comedies.

I was thrilled that 30 Rock won best comedy last night! Yay! Go Tina and Team! I hope that the Emmy brings more people in to watch... I know I do my part by talking it up on every non-TWOP internet forum that I visit. This show is so awesome; I am so happy that it won.

After watching an Emmys broadcast which were, to borrow a phrase, bonkers, I was so glad to see them finally get something right last night! I really hope this can give them a push for the coming season! The Office had disappointing ratings during it's first season and look at it now! I remember people thinking it was crazy to even renew it. The timeslot is good, they've had the buzz and now they have the Emmy!
Very disappointing to see Alec lose for Lead Actor, but what we got was so much better. If people don't tune in I'll just go nuts. This show fits perfectly with the Thursday comedy block!

I'm glad 30 Rock won. I'm also a loyal Office fan but they need the added viewership and the support. Also they showed the funniest clip. The one where Tina is asking why Jack is wearing a tuxedo and he responds appalled "It's after Six. What am I, a farmer?"
