From TVGuide.com:

Debut: An unscrupulous wealthy family becomes the headache of a lawyer who takes over as counsel when his father dies. In the opener, Nick George (Peter Krause) agrees to represent the Darlings, and is soon embroiled in the clan's bizarre problems.

Loved it!!!

Now that I've regrouped I must give the most love to Karen, she had a lot of soundbites that had me laughing out loud.
Also, code pink? Haha.
SassandtheCity
Well that was a dirty sexy introduction to the show. I do enjoy that clearly Samaire Armstrong's character is modeled on Edie Sedgewick which makes me hopeful that at some point they do a riff on Andy Warhol.
Belle Petrelli
LOVE.

What a cast.

What a caricature of a family.

Berlanti, you are a god!
CassieManning
Really loved this. My favorite premiere yet.
ihateclownns
I just caught this because I left the TV on after Private Practice. I think I'm hooked. The pilot was really good. It's a pretty big cast, but I thought they did suprisingly well with establishing personalities in the limited time they had for each character.

Oh, and Jeremy cracks me up. I don't know how old he is, but he acts like a five year old kid, with the uncombed hair and all. I loved the line about space camp at the end.
Mirella
LOVED it! Best new show I've seen in ages!
JLHSmurf
Great stuff!!! I liked it so much that I'm almost afraid to get attached, because...well, you know. I don't want to jinx it.
havemycake
BEST SHOW EVER!

- Karen and her "pretty woman" ringtone
- Patrick and his tranny girlfriend
- Brian and is "i hate yours" and bastard child.

so.much.love!
TVGuy88
LOVED IT!!!! OMG... incredible show. My new guilty pleasure. Move over Desperate Housewives!
evalusion
I really liked the show and am kind of hooked on it. My biggest complaint was that the acting of both of the "Darling daughters," occasionally veered too far into camp, and made the show seem jokier than I think it meant to be, but all in all, good fun.
stace25
I really, really enjoyed this show! I am so glad I turned in to watch it!
agntcoopersgirl
Loved it! Didn't think I would with all the ads everywhere. Wasn't even going to watch it, but I sure am glad I did. I laughed out loud at least 3 times, amazing!
The 2nd Evil
That was made of awesome.
memememe76
I really enjoyed this episode--the best pilot of the season thus far, IMO.

It's a delicate balancing act. I hope Nick's wife and daughter aren't ignored or portrayed in a whiny way. And the Nick character can easily veer into "Brandon Walsh" territory. Love his assistant.

Of the Darling family, Karen is easily the standout. LOVE. HER.
nicepebbles
Loving it so far. Except I'm not too crazy about the VO.

So did Nick deflower his 1/2 sister? That's what fan fic is for.

Brian is a major asshole. If the show lasts long enough, I hope we find out exactly what is problem is. It would be interesting if they just make him an asshole thru and thru and not a wounded boy who was upset about his mother's affair and thinking she loved Nick more. That's been done.

I can't quite pin point what Karen's problem is. I just know I don't really like her.

Didn't catch the names of the other kids except Jeremy's who is okay so far.

JC looked sick at the party.

DS is just great.
ScarlettLynn
Hands down the best new show this season. I loved it completely. Hilarious, smart, fun, sly. Awesome cast. I can't stop raving about this one. Loved it.
mtlchickie
So many shows! So little time!

Pretty good (the preacher son is a hoot.) I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't watch the dullness that is "The Bionic Woman: Now with More Suck!" right before this. Some minor issues, but I'm willing to give this more time. Besides, I get the sane Baldwin on Wednesday, the more talented on Thursday starting next week, and other two are off my TV radar. I can get with that.
chisey
I wasn't planning on tuning in, but I'm glad I did; that was great! They are all just such absolute messes, it's fantastic. I can't wait til next week. I think my favorite part might have actually been Brian and Nick getting into a fight at the dinner. It's just so...juvenile.
IvyLady
Loved it! It totally made up for that wasted hour of Private Practice. I will be tuning in next week.
Marquis
I floved it! Didn't expect to because of all of the hype, but Peter Krause is hard to resist. It had an "Arrested Development" feel and I miss that show, so I just loved this even more. I adore every character but most especially Brian. He's got issues, man.
shortpplfedup
Not since Dallas, Dynasty, and in more recent memory, the late, lamented WB's Savannah have I enjoyed a primetime soap quite so much. Luxe, sexy and sudsy, and with a big, fucked-up family, just like I like them. I'm in.
Ripley68
Loved it! Totally made up for the disappointment of Bionic Woman. Why do I get the vibe that the Mom is Peter Krause's mom too?
adfan
This is the best show this season for sure. It hooked you in from the first 5 minutes with the limo scene and all of the Darlings coming out one by one.

The different ring tones for each Darling made me laugh every time it rang.

It's so fun to watch.
TimorousBeastie
I watched this on a whim after Bionic Woman, and I am really glad I did! It was really, really, really funny!
I think I had it confused with Big Shots, so I really was expecting total crap. Very surprised. And I love seeing Peter Krause on my screen again.

To Mr. Beastie's chagrin, I had to label every character as a Bluth. There was definitely a Lindsay, and "Gob" even had his own yacht.

And there were already lines that I plan to use whenever I can:
(after an insult) You're poor!

(reminds me of taking out an ad in "We're Poor Magazine!")
catalina777
Loved it! Best new show in years. I actually laughed out loud several times.
mamie614
Kudos to the casting director for Trevor St. John as Nick's father. There's something about the two men that definitley scream some kind of relation.

When I looked over the fall schedule I wasn't too sure I wanted to invest myself, but the pilot was pretty awesome, so count me in for next week.
RoxieVelma
Poor Nick he couldn't even get into his own father's funeral because of the Darlings and then that's the only reason he made it in. I'm kind of freaked out his wife is named Lisa, so I hope she doesn't turn out like the other Lisa (if you know what I mean). If it actually turns out that Nick ends up being Tripp's son and that's why he's always been so nice to him, I'll probably be finished with the show because that would mean he sleep with his half-sister, Karen. I'm praying that's just something I'm making up and doesn't happen. His dad was named Dutch, and I find that so funny for some reason. Especially after finding out he was with Tish for 40 years. Speaking of Dutch, hi Todd, it's nice to see you take a vacation from Llanview.

Anyone else creeped out that a Baldwin could be the attorney general of anything? Oh and don't like to Dan Rather, he doesn't like it. Oh and squee on Dan Rather appearing out of nowhere looking fab in his tuxedo. Hi, my name's Patrick and I'm totally playing the part of John F. Kennedy. Nice "girlfriend" you got there, Pat.

Juliet, I guess, is going to be the head of the "pretty people with problems". My daddy bought my acting part, and I'm no good. Well, if Peter Bogdonovich says it, it must be true. So therefore, she had to try and kill herself about it.

I totally want Jeremy's glasses, although I don't think they'd actually be useful. However, they look snazzy and awesome, and now I feel like I need them.

Brian's a total asshat, and I hope someone eventually beats the batshit out of him.

The only other person who plays sleazy and creepy better than Donald Sutherland is Harry Dean Stanton. So Tripp actually asked Bill Clinton to be his family lawyer. I'd love to have seen that meeting. There seriously has to be a reason Tripp's always been kind to Nick besides the fact that he acts like a human, doesn't there?

Damn, Jill Clayburgh has like the oldest hands I've ever seen. Seriously, I don't think Cicely Tyson's looked that old when she played 100 year old Jane Pittman in that TV movie. Boozy Tish is so going to be even more fun as this show goes on.

The only person I feel "sorry" for is Karen and I really can't figure out why. She basically seems the most sane out of the entire Darling clan.

Seriously, loved the ringtones for everyone and how Lisa reacted when she heard Karen's!

So I totally fell for this show, it's like Dynasty for a new generation. Easily the best show I've seen so far this fall, you know legally.
blixie2
My biggest complaint was that the acting of both of the "Darling daughters," occasionally veered too far into camp,

Funny, that's what I thought made the show fabulous, and really Glenn Fitzgerald's rageholic minister isn't over the top? Could not love the show more, though I think Jeremy/Juliet were my favorite characters.

Karen's slurred "I had *ah* scotch" killed me, and color me shocked Trevor St. John when he's not pissing all over my love for Todd Manning actually can act.

My only complaint was the score was more than a tech over bearing, but that seemed like a short hand attempt to underline the tone for the pilot. At least I hope it was a one shot deal.
obxer
OMG! What a great show! Loved it! Can't wait for the next episode. I wonder who killed his father?

ETA- LOVED the ringtones! TOO funny!
Eegah
Best ringtones ever!

With lots of TWoPers still reeling from the loss of AD, this is a most agreeable substitute to quote Jane Austen. They need to work on the chemisty a little more (that early scene with all the Darlings arguing about Nick was really all over the place) but it's got that certain something that you know it's going to be something great.
pollybug
Awesome - just loved it : ) Adored all of Brian's "I hate yous" And I so prefer funny-Peter Kraus to morose-Peter Kraus (coughSixFeetUndercough)

And the ringtones -- brilliant
The 2nd Evil
I loved that Nick beat up the priest.
WendyCR72
Tranny girlfriends, illegitimate kids, money to burn, and 40-year affairs? Welcome back, primetime soaps! :-P

This was GREAT. A total mindless fun/brain candy kind of show. Cannot wait for next week. And Elle Fanning looks just like her sister, Dakota.
ShadowyMoon
For the entire hour, this show had me making a face of sheer glee and delight that looked something like this: :D I loved every second of it, but the ringtones, Brian's "I hate you!" and "Sorry Grandpa's dead!" and Jeremy's...Jeremy-ness were highlights.
LBConroy
This is the best show this season for sure. It hooked you in from the first 5 minutes with the limo scene and all of the Darlings coming out one by one.

to Rage Against the Machine no less.

this show is the easily the best new show of the season. (but havent seen Life yet. but that doesnt matter because that's DOA if this show is a success imo).

Loved Karen and Jeremy

and Brian is a complete douchebag.

and what can I say? Seeing Peter Krause back on my screen is wonderful
Catcher22
Wow, I liked it more than I thought I would. Really enjoyable.

What is up with the mother who just left her son with Brian? And the son was pretty stoic about it, too! I would have expected him to freak out that his mother was leaving him with this strange man.

My only complaint was the score was more than a tech over bearing, but that seemed like a short hand attempt to underline the tone for the pilot.

I don't usually pay attention to the background music during scenes but when Juliet and Letitia were talking, I was waiting for someone to answer their phone that music was so annoying.
Marquis
Favourite line: Are you really saying that she has more balls than you do?
TiffanyNichelle
I love this show. The family isn't the most likable but they crack me up. I love the reverend, he's a little thug. The fight between him and Nick was hilarious. As was the choice of ringtones for the family. I cannot believe Nick's father and Mother Darling had a 40 year old affair. That's a lifetime. That's a marriage!

If Karen Darling makes another move on Nick though I'm going to need for his wife to take her down. Hey lady, get over it.

So did Old Man Darling kill Nick's father because he was tired of the affair? Hmm.

I don't have a favorite Darling yet.
marty118
If it actually turns out that Nick ends up being Tripp's son and that's why he's always been so nice to him, I'll probably be finished with the show because that would mean he sleep with his half-sister, Karen.

Well...there is one other possible scenario. (No spoilers, just sayin'. Sauce for the goose, and all that.)
Mardia
Loved it! I think it might take a few more eps to really find the rhythm, but still...awesome.

The ringtones were hilarious, and I agree that Karen was a standout--her scene with Nick in the deserted room was really great. I'd seen the clips and I was a little curious as to how they were going to handle it, so it was nice to get the sense of why Nick would have dated/loved her once upon a time, and to see why those feelings still might linger...

Although I like Nick and Lisa, really--I have to say, I've got an internal clockdown for the divorce/breakup, because so far, two of PK's characters have been married to women named Lisa, and it never ended well. So if history holds up, DSM's Lisa will end up getting a divorce...or ending up dead. (No spoilers here, I promise.)

I thought the casting of Trevor St. John was really nice too...I always like when casting makes an effort to find people who actually look like they could be related.
JakeyIsSusan
Up until the last act I was watching a bit half-heartedly, because I thought everyone but Nick was an asshole and while it's fun to watch rich people be scandalous (Paris Hilton has definitely made a career of it), I didn't see myself having a reason to care about these people. So the last act definitely added intrigue and scandal, and I thought Juliet definitely became a sympathetic character (although I must admit Samaire Armstrong was one of my favorites on The OC).

I'm glad I previously read on TWoP that the tranny hooker's voice was digitally altered for the pilot and won't be that way in the other episodes. I understand why they did it -- it had to be obvious from the get-go that she wasn't all what she appeared to be -- but I found it too cartoony.

The casting of Trevor St. John makes me wonder if they actually do film this show in New York.
dimples1
I'm so sold on this show. OMG - It's delicious and seeing Peter Krause again on my tv screen once a week is fabulous. I just hope they cut his hair.
Dandesun
The casting of Trevor St. John makes me wonder if they actually do film this show in New York.

Since his blog on his website said he had flown back to LA to do the pilot for DSM, I'm thinking no.
sesi
I liked it a lot, definitely getting a season pass. I can't even remember if I watched anything at 10pm on Wednesday last yeat, but this is now filling that spot.

It's nice to see Nate Fisher be not being such an ass.
mtlchickie
My biggest complaint was that the acting of both of the "Darling daughters," occasionally veered too far into camp,

We're talking about a show where as a publicity stunt, flew a plane over an L.A. courthouse when a certain heiress was sprung from jail for about 5 minutes. Campy? I think it's their mantra.
Gigi43
I expected to be let down because I've been looking forward to this show above all the new ones, and the promos are everywhere. So glad I wasn't! This was a great pilot.

When James (or is it Jeremy... I couldn't hear whenever his name was said) was in that bathroom and drank from the sink instead of washing his hands, I admit it, I laughed.

Nick's wife better not be on every episode complaining about his job. Every so often is fine, and Nick should be shown balencing his normal life with the Darlings, but I can see "the nagging wife" getting played fast if they overdue it.

There's something about Karen that I think is the most sympathetic out of the children in a classic TV way. She doesn't seem to be crazy or an ass... just really unhappy with all that money.

I watched Gossip Girl before this, and I must say its a nice pairing to have two entertaining Upper Class New York Disfunction shows on back to back (though on different networks.) However, DSM, is obviously the smarter, funnier, better show of the two.

Karen's slurred "I had *ah* scotch" killed me, and color me shocked Trevor St. John when he's not pissing all over my love for Todd Manning actually can act.

Ha!

The only nitpick I have, and it really is just a small, petty nitpick, is that I hate this show seems to be continuing this new awful trend of no themesong/music credits! I miss opening themes!

Really good start to this show. Can't wait for next week!

edited cause 'hear' and 'here' are not the same word.
havemycake
40 year long affair? Hmm. I wonder which Darling will turn out to be the love child of that relationship. Not Karen for obvious reasons. Probaby Mr. I Hate You.
obxer

I think it will turn out that the Rev. is Nick's half-brother. That's my guess.

Aw, you beat me to it.

I completely forgot that the premiere was tonight, and even while I'm kicking myself for missing it, I already know one thing before I get to see the episode: thank you Jesus for Peter Krause. Anything that gets him back on my TV gets an automatic A.
