The place to complain that everyone one else has different tastes than you! The first third of the results go up later today (Sept 12).
quietone
I'm first? That never happens.

I was torn between Metallicar and KC's hair for best inanimate object.

The most painful retcon was definitely the Izzy loves George storyline. Biggest mistake from S3 of GA.

Shocked that Lana's fake pregnancy didn't place in the most ludicrous plotline category.
Polter-Cow
The MNIE quote had an unfair advantage, hee. The Office line is a good one, but there were better VM quotes to make it. Sad that all the 30 Rock noms split the vote so that none of then made it to the top 10.

Those were definitely the top three "Hell yeah!" moments of the season.

I'm glad the Heroes scene won Best Tearjerk, since it's the only one that literally made me cry.

Dexter won Best Credits! Awesome! Maybe it'll take home the Emmy, too. And hopefully more Tubeys.

The results have been pretty interesting so far.
Shocked that Lana's fake pregnancy didn't place in the most ludicrous plotline category.
I know, that was what I voted for!

Huh. I must be very, very stupid because I can't find the results. And I've even voted so I should know where to find them.

Huh. I must be very, very stupid because I can't find the results. And I've even voted so I should know where to find them.

(Friendly hint: Start with the home page.)

No problems with the outcomes so far (many wins for things from show's I don't watch, but I can't object to that).

Delighted that the My Name Is Earl shout-out to our site won Best One-Liner. Really, if that one hadn't, what's the point of it all?

Also thrilled to see the love for How I Met Your Mother as a paragon of continuity, along with more widely publicized (and deserving) contenders like The Office and Heroes.

I can't believe Ugly Betty's Kwanzaa line didn't even get a runner up. That was classic!

I'm glad the Heroes scene won Best Tearjerk, since it's the only one that literally made me cry.

The end of Doctor Who S2 made me randomly burst into tears for days after I watched it, but ever since I saw that two scenes that happened 5 minutes apart were nominated I suspected that the votes would be split and neither would place. I wonder if it would have made the top 3 if the votes from Bad Wolf Bay and the same walls in different universes scene were combined.

Wow, I'm already more excited about this year's results than last year's, if only because it looks as if Veronica Mars (which I thought was a horrible mess this season) won't sweep every 'positive' award. I'd normally be glad that Backup was honored in the animal performance category, except I swear that I didn't even remember him being a part of the show this season!

I'm thrilled that 'then it's a date' won for best Hell Yeah moment, as that seriously had me squeeing like a school girl and I'm normally not even much of a 'shipper when it comes to my shows. I'm also glad that The Office at least placed for best finale. (I don't watch Lost so couldn't evaluate how good it was).

I'm thriled that Metallicar won 'best inanimate...' and that Dean's breakdown scene placed on the tearjerker category, because...*sniff*. That was actually one of the most memorable scenes of the TV season for me.

My two favorite one-liners finished first and second place, which I'm incredibly psyched about even though I'm also a little sad that my beloved Psych didn't win in that category (or, if I'm remembering right, in any category at all!)

The one result I'm slightly disappointed by is 'most valuable cable network'. I'm such a diehard Psych fan that I feel I'd wither up and die without USA network!
YuppieLawyer
I'm happy to see Lost get Best Finale. I was so disappointed with much of the first half of the season but the finale was awesome.

I've never even watched MNIE but that quote was too good to resist.

On behalf of Kyle Chandler's hair, I challenge Metallicar to a deathmatch!

As much as I deplored Veronica's blaming Madison for her rape, the idea that Izzie was in love with George was so ridiculous that I had to vote for that.
thuganomics85
On behalf of Kyle Chandler's hair, I challenged Metallicar to a deathmatch!

Heh, I'm just happy his hair did as well as it did, despite FNL's low ratings. Maybe it'll pull it out next year. I just hope Kyle Chandler's hair continues to do it's thing, and doesn't overact, or chew the scenery.

Besides that, also glad for MNIE winning Best One-Liner, and Heroes winning Best Tearjerker. Jack Coleman and Hayden Panettiere owned that scene.
nitrodan
I'm glad the Heroes scene won Best Tearjerk

I had a hard time remembering what "the bridge scene" was so I voted for something else. It wasn't 'til I rewtached Company Man that I remembered. It truly was a heartbreaking scene.

I'm happy to see Lost get Best Finale.

Yeah, me too. Heroes was great but Lost's finale was amazing.
NightBaron
I'm a bit sad that Friday Night Lights didn't even make the runner-ups in the Best Tearjerk category, since the show makes me cry at least once an episode. But I understand it's not as popular as the other ones.

I never considered Veronica blaming her rape on Madison to be a ret-con. Misguided anger, sure, but a ret-con? She always hated Madison. It's more of a ret-con that she was civil with Dick at the end.
aks

Thanks very much for the link, Polter-Cow! Front page. Of course.

Quite pleased withe the results. I didn't vote for all of them, but they all seem okay. My Name Is Earl simply *had* to win that one-liner award, but it pained me not to able to vote for Dwight's Jack Bauer-line. I still laugh whenever I think about it.
Trini Girl
Ugly Betty was robbed for Best Tearjerk. Robbed I tell you! And I thought "Betty's wardrobe" would have been a shoe-in for Crimes Against fashion. Seriously, have y'all seen the stuff she's worn?
Polter-Cow

Yeah, I agree. It seemed weird, but it didn't feel like what I'd consider a retcon.
Heroes was great but Lost's finale was amazing.
Lost's finale was pretty awesome. I was hoping VM would make it into the runners up, at least; there were people who hated most of the season but still liked the finale.
I had a hard time remembering what "the bridge scene" was so I voted for something else. It wasn't 'til I rewtached Company Man that I remembered. It truly was a heartbreaking scene.
Heh. Someone mentioned that to me, noting that either A) "the bridge scene" was not descriptive enough and people would miss it or B) the bridge scene was so powerful that's all you had to say.
bookwrm74
Aw, see, the major results haven't even been revealed yet, and already I can tell that this is yet another Tubeys that's going to cost me money, as every time you guys recommend a show I end up checking it out and often getting it on DVD. I'm pathetically influenced by the opinions of my fellow TWoPers! *makes mental note to get greedy hands on Lost finale even though I haven't watched a single episode since S1*

was hoping VM would make it into the runners up, at least; there were people who hated most of the season but still liked the finale.

I was meh on the finale, though I completely see why some people loved it and felt it was the highlight of a (again, IMO) lackluster season. My problem here was that there happened to IMO be two, three or even four other *great* finales this year, so even if I'd felt VM's finale was the very best episode of the season, it wouldn't have made the cut for me.
Polter-Cow
Personally, I voted for the VM finale because of its ability to do double-duty as a quite lovely series finale as well. I agree that there were some great finales this season.

I'm also surprised that BSG didn't make it in the top three, but I think Lost and BSG split the vote on WTF. The latter got the moment but the former got the episode.
*makes mental note to get greedy hands on Lost finale even though I haven't watched a single episode since S1*
See, that won't work because that finale works best as a capper to all that's been leading up to it. Oh, wait, you've seen S1, at least? That's a start. If you're not spoiled and your, er, copy has previouslies, you might be okay.
YourMom
I'm a bit sad that Friday Night Lights didn't even make the runner-ups in the Best Tearjerk category, since the show makes me cry at least once an episode.

Ditto, though I don't actually cry because I am a cold-hearted bitch. But it gets me as close to crying as any TV show is capable of.

Though both the poll results and this thread show I'm in the minority, Lost winning Best Finale is probably one of the things I'm least happy about thus far. The finale was certainly the best episode of the season, and the last minutes had me very intrigued. But I think there were better finales. This one just struck me as too little too late, and I didn't vote for it because I felt like I'd be rewarding the show for lowering my expectations.

But I have absolutely no argument with the incredulousness being doled out to Izzie/George. Stupidest TV move of any show this entire season, bar none. But I'm also happy to see Nikki/Paulo getting some love (errr, "love") in those categories as well.

Kyle Chandler's hair getting runner-up is the biggest disappointment so far. It would stand straight on end and whip the Metallicar so fast it wouldn't know what hit it.
cutecouple
I wonder if it would have made the top 3 if the votes from Bad Wolf Bay and the same walls in different universes scene were combined.
On a serious note, there are voting systems (preferential voting) that can do this and more, but they're difficult to explain, let alone implement, especially within TWoP. However, they're great for split votes, and one version is in use for the Hugo Awards (mostly written science fiction).

Overall, this was fine, though as usual, almost none of the things I voted for won or placed.
Ankai
I am a bit disappointed that The Wire did not even make it past the first poll for best finale, but I suppose that I should not be surprised. Of the others, I either had not seen them or had not seen them in context to make a judgment on their deserving entry, or I agreed with their inclusion or exclusion. Except for Heroes. I personally thought that the finale totally sucked and was under the impression that most people felt similarly. Perhaps I was looking at the wrong places, though. At least it did not get first place. I stopped watching Lost after the first season finale, but I heard that the third season finale was really good. So good on it.
NightBaron
I was pleasantly surprised that Angela Keslar's penchant for fleurchons came second for Worst Crime against Fashion. I didn't think it had a chance, believing Project Runway not being watched by as many TWoPpers as most of the other shows. I'm glad my vote contributed.
aks
I hadn't seen many of the crimes against fashion-nominees but I thought Tyra Banks's horrid pirate costume, or whatever that thing was, would be a shoo-in. There were worse crimes against fashion?! Guess so, but the mind boggles at the mere thought.
The Flash
ITA, NightBaron. I didn't even vote for Angela's fleurchons (had to vote for Jack's fugly beard), but I'm so glad they placed. They were hilarious.
caia1970
And I thought "Betty's wardrobe" would have been a shoe-in for Crimes Against fashion. Seriously, have y'all seen the stuff she's worn?

Yeah but that's deliberately fugly. The other ones aren't doing it intentionally so maybe people consider it more criminal.
Glark
Re: The Wire -- Best kept secret on Television apparently. At least it got a couple noms here as opposed to the Emmys. Great show but I think its density keeps a lot of people away. I tell a lot of people to watch it but you can't just watch one episode right? You need to make that season-long commitment.
Polter-Cow
At this point, a four-season-long commitment. It's daunting! I haven't heard a bad thing about it, ever, though, so it's on my radar.
Ankai
Yeah, I was not expecting it to win best finale or anything. I probably would not have felt anything regarding it getting shut down early if it were not for the Heroes finale getting as far as it did.
TiffanyNichelle
Ah, I'm disappointed that Charlie's death didn't win but I'm glad he placed high. I hate the outcome for best one-liner. Go Mr. Muggles though.

I can't believe Ugly Betty's Kwanzaa line didn't even get a runner up. That was classic!

I know! Ah well, I still get a chuckle out of it.
loseresque
I don't really like Heroes (UO, I know but it was the finale that turned me off) so I'm not thrilled with its common presence in the results so far. But I'll live with it because I know a lot of people do like the show for various reasons.

Having Lost win best finale is awesome, though - as a stand alone episode, not even in comparison to it's past mistakes, I thought it was brilliant. Finally, some excellent acting from the supposed lead actor, as opposed to the phenomenonal supporting actors. Great writing and directing. A combination of truly sad moments and some truly kickass moments. And it can potentially steer the next season into a different direction; even if it doesn't do that, I will be watching the everything differently now. I also had to start the series over so I could reconsider everything I saw before in light of what I know now.

I am also glad to see Charlie in the tearjerkers. I didn't always like the character but I couldn't help but be sad after his sacrifice.
Mod Suit
I had to go with "Huge ego, sorry" for line because that is damn near perfection. But I'm glad to see the mother of all shout-outs get it's place in history.

I'm sure this happened. I wish they were combined! I have a feeling DW is going to be nearly shut-out again, but I'm glad to see The Office doing so well.

I was a little shocked that the Tritter story didn't make "ludricious plotline." People are going to be complaining about that for years.

Once again, the Tubeys have shown that I watch too little TV.
pirk70
Geez, I can't believe how out of touch I am with the rest of the TWOP nation! So many of what I voted for wasn't even in the top 3 of the categories so far! Good stuff, so far though that I hadn't thought of when there were so many options to choose from...

Yeah but that's deliberately fugly. The other ones aren't doing it intentionally so maybe people consider it more criminal.

Good call. I had voted for Betty, but that makes sense.
Polter-Cow
I have a feeling DW is going to be nearly shut-out again
DW is tough because it airs in the US so long after the original airing, and you have to remember what season is being considered in the Tubeys. For many fans, that was a long time ago. The 4400 gets the shaft that way too, since it's not the current season but the past one that's always under consideration.

One day, however, the TARDIS will win Best Inanimate Object. One day!
pirk70
I hate the outcome for best one-liner.

I know, right?! I was soooooo down with "Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica"!
Mod Suit
One day, however, the TARDIS will win Best Inanimate Object. One day!

See, my problem is I can't bring myself to consider the TARDIS inanimate, even if it means DW winning an award.
pirk70
Once again, the Tubeys have shown that I watch too little TV.

You called it, ModSuit! I stand in awe of my fellow viewers' acumen, haha
Polter-Cow
See, my problem is I can't bring myself to consider the TARDIS inanimate, even if it means DW winning an award.
Hee. Yeah, that is a problem. It's the best inanimate object because it's not really inanimate. Hell, it's a she!
AimingforYoko
I knew this was a female-skewing website but I was a little surprised ESPN didn't even make the top 10 for Most Indispensible Cable Network.
I just have to wonder how loud the cry of FIX! would have been if Bravo had won.

I had hopes that it would win best attention to continuity for that very reason, surely anyone who's watched it would vote for it there? Clearly not enough people have watched. Someday I'll have persuaded everyone...
bookwrm74

I'm female and also an insanely obsessed football fanatic, so ESPN is invaluable to me. The only reason I voted for USA is that Psych is one of the few things I love even more than football and the endless pre- and post-game football analysis!

Also, is it sad that I care about the Tubeys about 100 times more than I care about the Emmys?!

ETA:
IMO, Heroes is just regular good, not great.

I can't get into Heroes at all, but for some reason it doing well doesn't bother me nearly as much as if VM had swept the 'good' awards again. Maybe it's because I did watch VM every week and am still burning over what a mess this season was IMO, while I haven;t seen enough of Heroes to feel indignant at how overrated it is.
The Flash
I don't really like Heroes (UO, I know but it was the finale that turned me off) so I'm not thrilled with its common presence in the results so far. But I'll live with it because I know a lot of people do like the show for various reasons.

I have a similar chip on my shoulder about Heroes, but I do like it. I just think that it's one of the most overrated things on television. Not that I don't enjoy it immensely, but there have been some seriously crappy episodes throughout the season, and I thought the finale was one of them. IMO, Heroes is just regular good, not great.
Puds38
I am a bit disappointed that The Wire did not even make it past the first poll for best finale, but I suppose that I should not be surprised.

Count me in as one of the disappointed. I was sure with so many nominations The Wire could grab at least one. I understand the show isn't an easy watch, but isn't that exactly what so many tv viewers claim they want, tv with substance?
Polter-Cow
I understand the show isn't an easy watch, but isn't that exactly what so many tv viewers claim they want, tv with substance?
Does it have cleavage and things blowing up?

Er, that would be [cleavage] and [things blowing up]. Not exploding cleavage.
Shelwood
I was sure with so many nominations The Wire could grab at least one.

There are still many, many more Tubeys to be awarded (it usually is done in 3 parts, plus the Staff Awards after).
Nutjob
Er, that would be [cleavage] and [things blowing up]. Not exploding cleavage.

Hee!

I didn't love the finale for Heroes, but that bridge scene? I never cry at television, but that one got me. "I love you, Claire Bear." *snif*

Also, I'm kind of sad that MNIE didn't get more love (darn that Mr. Muggles! I wanted Mr. Turtle to win!), but like Mod Suit said, that one-liner was THE mother of all shout-outs. I went excitedly bonkers when that episode first aired.
Puds38

But exploding cleavage would get higher ratings.

Also, I'm kind of sad that MNIE didn't get more love (darn that Mr. Muggles! I wanted Mr. Turtle to win!), but like Mod Suit said, that one-liner was THE mother of all shout-outs. I went excitedly bonkers when that episode first aired.
I got tied of Mr. Muggles and all his stand ins. The MNIE shout out had me screaming. I bought the DVDs solely for the guest commentary.
leew261
I didn't think he had any prayer of winning so I was happily surprised that Stephen Jr. was runner-up for Best Animal Performance. Shows that the Colbert Nation is a force to be reckoned with!
Polter-Cow
I didn't love the finale for Heroes, but that bridge scene? I never cry at television, but that one got me.
Yeah, I'm the same way. That whole episode was intense and amazing, and then the bridge scene just broke me.

Yeah, and I'm female and obsessed with many sports, but I've been living without cable for four years now, and surprisingly, I don't miss ESPN that much at all. I can get all the sports news I want (and hardly anything I don't) from the Internet.

I think I voted for BBC America, 'cause it's killing me that I can't watch Torchwood.

I'm actually surprised how many of the things I voted for, in the first round even, were at least runners-up. I guess that's why I hang around here so much.
DEM
I have a similar chip on my shoulder about Heroes, but I do like it. I just think that it's one of the most overrated things on television.

I'm with you, Flash. In fact, I went so far as to vote for anything BUT one of the bazilion Heroes selections.

Also, I'm disappointed about Kwanzaa, but I'm crossing my fingers for The Wire. (However, I won't be surprised if it wins the Greatest Irony Award by not winning Most Overlooked.)
