I didn't see one for her, so I thought I would show her some love. I have high hopes for her. She can't be as stiff as Ian. Hopefully she can make it as far as he did. She looks to still be in great shape. It would be cool to see Ian in the audience supporting her as she did for him.

Seems like Jennie is well-liked by her 90210 castmates. I bet Ian won't be the only one who shows up for her.

Curious to see how she pairs with Derek. They seem like they could be well matched in terms of temperament, but I can't seem them having great chemistry. Of course, I wouldn't have thought Apolo/Julianne and Maks/Laila would have turned out smokin hot, so ya never know.

For some reason, I think the main thing for Jennie will be confidence. I bet she has the coordination and determination, not sure she'll have the confidence to sell it.

Between Jennie Garth & Marie Osmond, this season will be AWESOME!

I just found out yesterday everyone that's on the show and I am immediately throwing all my weight behind Jennie. I really think she'll have the best shot of all the women, not to mention I just plain old like her more than the rest of them (excluding Jane Seymour, but come ON).
annlaw78
I have to support any 90210 alum, naturally, but I am concerned about Jennie's ability to be sexy when needed. She can come across as sort of cold and brittle, and her Kelly Taylor oft-times thought baby talk = sexy.

It would be great if they showed some old 90210 clips of her fantastic 90s-dancing -- the swaying, the snapping, the ankle boots with short socks. Awesome!

I'm looking forward to (mostly) all of the pairs this season, but Jennie is easily, hands-down, my pre-show favorite. I've always thoughts she was great. Bonus if her hot-as-hell husband shows up in the audience!
RunninRedbird
Can we fix her name in the thread title, though? It's -ie, not -y.

If there's any question as to who's watching and what they're watching for, it seems the pecking order in this forum paints a fairly clear picture. Most of the front page is dominated by the threads of male celebs and pros. Doesn't mean a woman like Jennie can't win, but it's an uphill battle.

One of the reasons I think Jennie might have a chance is because, like Laila, I don't think her strength will be in the flashy moves. Thus, I don't think there will be as much direct comparison with the female pros. Seems like Jennie (and probably Jane) will be more about the elegance and sophistication. The pro women can obviously do that too, but I think it's the showy stuff that the celeb women have a hard time competing with. Celebs like MelB and the Cheetah Girl might find themselves getting that more direct comparison and that could hurt them.

Holy hand grenade! When did Jennie Garth become Dolly Parton? Jennie Garth's new display items

Maybe she was nursing at the time? She does have three kids.

I believe she just had her 3rd baby when the photo was taken.

Well, I rooted for Ian, hence I will root for Jennie. I just hope Luke Perry makes his debut appearance in the audience this season.

I saw her on Larry King. She seemed, for lack of a better word, vacant. She also had a dry sense of humor which might or might not serve her well on TV. I hated her feathered hair, I don't know why the Farrah look is back again.

Larry claimed her old sitcom (What I Like About You) was on ABC. Wasn't her show on WB?
MDKNIGHT
Being one of the few people who never really watched 90210, what does the ....10 in the thread title refer too? I liked Ian last year even though I didn't know who he was either so I have an open mind about Jennie.
catgyrl

I didn't make up the title, but I would venture to guess that it means "10" as in how they reveal the scores... (Carrie Ann Inaba: "10!"; Len Goodman: "10!", etc.)

I thought it was a WB show.

I'm worried about Jennie's staying power, because, as noted, she is a bit vacant or blank. She's pretty, but often comes across as cold and brittle. But, I really haven't seen her in much else besides 90210, and Kelly Taylor, her character, was a bit of a pill -- usually pissy about something, or, as the character went to college, righteously indignant or sanctomonious about some perceived slight. Sort of a sourpuss. Brenda (Shannon Doherty) was the fun teen-Dynasty type character. Tori Spelling has more of the off-camera personality (because of her penchant for reality tv). Tiffani Thiessen would have been a better casting -- Saved by the Bell and 90210 synergy (and, her character was the fun villain-type). Oh well, we'll see how far Jennie can go.

Of the 1990s hotties that are courting the vote this season, I think Scary Spice will beat Kelly Taylor.

Yeah, catgyrl that's kind of what I was going for. Also, I don't know about how vaccant she is or looks now, but you never know who will have staying power on this show. At the beginning of last season I never would have thought about Apollo winning over Joey. I think Jennie could surprise.
linz15
Kelly Taylor just cannot dance. I don't know if that's Kelly or Jennie, but if she can't even pull off the electric slide to end racism then, well I just don't have high hopes for her. Maybe she'll surprise me. I do, however, want to see all the 90 alums there to show support! It was really cute when she, JP and TS came to watch Ian last year.

(Said electric slide starts around 7:10 into the clip. I apologize in advance for having to witness David Silver and his "musical stylings").
msrayrudd
I like her and want her to do well, but have yet to see practice footage of her. I can easily see her being the stiff type or the type who has a hard time letting loose on the dance floor for the latin numbers.

But I'm sure the 90210 gang will be out in full force and you just now Ian will be there or making an appearance somewhere.

Oh totally - I mean, at least Scary Spice danced in music videos (even if the only Spice Girl video I remember is the one for Wannabe where no one dances but Sporty and her backflips) - plus, if she can get Posh to show up even once in the audience, she's set. Even if Jennie does seem sweet IRL, Kelly Taylor was such a bitch (and even worse than stealing Dylan from Brenda was that whole, "I choose me" line - God, I don't even know why I continued to watch 90210 for the 5 years after that line, because even at age 12, I knew that was some serious, serious bullshit), I can't ever separate the two from my mind. And as it has been stated, bitch CANNOT dance. Shannen could dance. Tiffani could dance. Jennie could never dance - even in the later years, when they owned the night club, she was never, ever shown dancing. I smell disaster.
msrayrudd
Jennie might not be able to dance. That remains to be seen. But I don't think the fact that Kelli was a bitch at times is going to hurt her here. Steve Sanders was not a very likable character either (I hated him), but he rode that to fourth.

Aww, I always had a soft spot for Steve Sanders. He was the only guy on that show who didn't spend most of his time pouting, pining, pontificating, or preaching. At least he was a fun character, if at times a tool. I wouldn't consider Kelly Taylor a fun character -- she was pretty cold and pissy most of the time. Maybe Jennie Garth is warmer and more convivial than the role was, though.
provencal
I always thought Jennie Garth off-screen was a much nicer, down to earth person than her character. But as for dancing...she looked very uncomfortable in the posed photo with Derek Hough. Which makes me sad, because I want Derek to stick around!

Linz15, thank you for that link. Hilarious. Epic.

My Linux computer won't play this - but maybe somebody could tell me about it? It's (I think) a video of Jennie and Derek dancing - and apparently Derek seems worried ??

Jennie Garth does seem kinda brittle. She strikes me as very WASP in character. Derek -- damn he's sexy when he dances!

ETA: what actually goes on -- they discuss the upcoming cha cha -- Jennie says Derek makes her practice a lot, more as the show comes up -- Derek seem apprehensive, rather than nervous -- he seems very driven when it comes to dance -- Jennie mentions there a competition between him and Julianne
lioness51
I don't know...I was a huge 90210 fan growing up and while I couldn't stand Kelly (much like I couldn't stand Joey on Dawson's Creek) I always thought Jennie Garth seemed like a sweetheart and many stories and reports seemed to confirm that.

Same way I liked Donna except for a few times when she bugged but I couldn't freaking stand Tori Spelling and that hasn't changed much...so glad the rumors of her doing it was false and Jennie is the one on. I do hope she's not stiff and can allow herself to let go but who knows...

She and Josie Maran are my early favorites.
Elsa
Thanks so much, Provencal! I really have liked what little I've seen of Derek -- especially helping Apolo and Julianne when she was sick. I hope they do o.k.

And I was thrilled when Tori Spelling WASN'T on the show. I know it's mean/catty of me but I can't stand to look at her. May Gloria Steinem forgive me... I think because she's a little rich girl who probably benefited from nepotism makes me feel like it's o.k. to hate her horsey face.

In her later show, "what i like about you", her character was more fun - it was a more comedic role. Especially towards the end of the series when her on-screen boyfriend was Dan Cortese. If she could get Amanda Bynes to show up for a show, that would help her with the younger demographic, I think...
MamaLilly
She did well, but she reminds me of Trista from season one.
RunninRedbird
Something tells me she's a lot less needy and pink-obsessed.
GoldenWoman
I liked her a lot tonight. I think once she get's over her initial nerves she will do well. She seems like she wants to be there and is willing to try her best. She didn't do a bad job with the cha cha either. I have seen MUCH worse.
CoConspirator
Along with Marie Osmond and Jane Seymour, Jennie is a sentimental favorite. I watched BH90210 all through my high school and college years. I think it was cute how nervous she was. Like Ian last year I think she'll ride the nostalgia wave to a Top 4 finish.
superpole2000
I have confidence in her. Even if she dances poorly, David Silver is going to devote the next month of his life to rigging the vote for Kelly.

I didn't know Jennie Garth was married to Damages, Gregory Malina.

Except Shannen Doherty. They couldn't stand each other back then. I wonder what the dynamic would be like had they cast Shannen this year too. Talk about drama. They'd have to rename it "Fighting with the Stars"

She's not...she's married to Peter Facinelli who was in Can't Hardly Wait and that Fox show I can't remember the name of right now.

Gregory Malina is the name of the character that Peter Facinelli played on the show Damages. He was also on the Fox show Fastlane.

One of my favorite moments from last night's show, courtesy of Jennie Garth: after she does the split thing with Derek during rehearsal, she looks at the camera and says, "Hold your applause." That moment made me root for her.
lioness51
*sheepish smile* thanks for the clarification; I've never watched Damages and I thought George Malina was someone's real name and yes, Fastlane was the name of the show.

Anyway I really liked her last night and wow, she has three gorgeous daughters (not to say that's so surprising because it's not like either her or Peter are unattractive). The oldest and Peter looked so proud after she was done.

I was really nervous for her because you can tell she was very nervous but she pulled it off and I thought the choreography was pretty challenging. I actually thought she got screwed by going first and so was naturally underscored. I did like how she called Derek "a cute little thing" and he looked mockingly annoyed, like he's tired of people thinking of him as young.

I love Jennie she's a favorite and i've liked her since my obsession with 90210 when i was younger. So go Jennie and your partner is so hot.

Jennie was always my favorite on Beverly Hills 90210. Sometimes Kelly was a real pain in the ass, but I always forgave her because Jennie was so very pretty. She still is lovely. People magazine had a story on her and Peters' 11 year marriage and showed cute pics of all the girls. I seems to remember she got married and divorced soon after the show, but this time it's really taken.

I was a little disappointed in her dance, but was glad Jennie's scores were high enough that she'll be back to improve. As much as I'd love for her to win, she's facing stronger male and female competitors. But it will be fun to watch her while she's on. Next comp she's in, I'm going to vote. I'm just not a good call in voter, but I'm going to make myself.

One thing I always liked about Jennie is that while she was pretty- she was a very realistic pretty. She did not look like a goddess or stick figure or anything- but really did look like the very pretty girl next door.

And I have to say that I think she looks prettier on DWTS than she ever did on 90210. But, I guess she was rarely in full-on evening makeup and dress on 90210.

I think Jennie is my chosen dark horse in the competition.

I swear this woman doesn't age either. I actually think she's one of the few who looks better as she ages.
GoodThings
I seems to remember she got married and divorced soon after the show, but this time it's really taken.
She was with Peter during 90210 (she was pregnant with their first child I think when she had amnesia and was engaged to Brandon). So, I wiki'd the show and Jennie to see when the failed marriage was, since she was with Peter at least 4 years before the show ended.

The show ran from 1990-2000. On April 16, 1994, Garth married musician Daniel B. Clark. They separated in January 1996 and Garth filed for divorce in November 1 of that year.

On January 20, 2001, she married actor Peter Facinelli; they met in 1995 while filming the movie An Unfinished Affair. They have three daughters: Luca Bella (born on June 22, 1997), Lola Ray (born on December 6, 2002) and Fiona Eve (born on September 30, 2006).
phairgame
I think she was pregnant when the storyline had her have the miscarriage shortly after she and Brandon reunited.

Much like the Andrea Zuckerman pregancy, I remember watching her week after week expanding, and wondering when the producers would actually address it--or if they would resort to hiding her under blankets for a few months.
Piano Player
I couldn't care less about Jennie one way or another, but Derek is a such a hottie that I want her to win.
lioness51
Wow...interesting info about her first marriage. I honestly really thought that Peter was her first marriage...since all her three kids are with him and I know she had the first one while she was still on 90210, I just assumed they'd been together since and just chose to marry a number of years later. You don't really see that in Hollywood much...a couple breaks, one actually marries someone else and they actually somehow find their back to each other.

I've always had a huge girlcrush on Jennie. I didn't watch this week but I saw her clip online and was pleasantly surprised. I'm going to wait for the field to dwindle a bit (and hope that she sticks around) and then maybe I'll watch later in the season.

She's adorable in that rehearsal clip. So down to earth, like someone you could be friends with. And I do love her sense of humor. She and Derek have a great rapport, so that should definitely bode well for her. And she really is aging wonderfully!

It seems she's winning or near the top in several online polls.
Nastia Forever
I like Jennie and was glad to see her do well. She got all my votes Monday night.

I am worried, though, that she'll be this seasons Ian and psych herself out. Even Drew commented on how nervous she was before her first dance. She's got the talent, and so far Derek seems like a great pro/partner. I hope she can reach her full potential.
