The subject of the time period of Galactica's arrival has been the subject of quite a bit of speculation. Will it be the ancient past, the distant future, or the present? For the purposes of this thread lets say they arrive in a time near the present day (Just not 1980's LA please, and the gravity will be the same). You encounter members of the Galactica crew on a recon mission. After waking up from passing out at the site of what you thought were aliens, you awake to discover that it's just humans from another planet. They request that you provide them with as much info about the culture of earth so they can assimilate into it as soon as possible.

Your task: Assemble a gift bag of culture. It will automatically include the texts and important commentaries of the major faiths of earth so don't woory about that. Include 2-4 examples of the following items to give as well rounded an experience of earth as possible. The items to include are:
A. Restaurant Gift Certificates -I would give them certificates to Wendy's for fast food, and Fogo de Chao (Brazilian Style Steak House) for a sit down meal
B. Gift Certificates for Retail Stores so they can set up house. I'd give them Home Depot, Barnes and Noble, Dillards, and HEB Grocery Stores
C. Books-The Art of War by SunTzu, The Prince by Machiavelli, The collected works of Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe
D. CD's (we'll wait to introduce them to ipods)- Being There by Wilco, The Beatles White Album, and Adagio for Strings
E. DVD's- Superbad, they'll love McLovin, The Usual Suspects, and The Boune Ultimatum (Yes I know 2 are in theatres, but they'll be out by the time Adama and company show up.
F. Sports Tickets- Notre Dame vs USC tix (at ND) and Cubs vs Cards (at Wrigley)

All sorts of things could be included here. If you were in charge of introducing the RTFF to earth culture, what would you give them.

I think I'd give them copies of Edith Hamilton's "Mythology" and Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a thousand Faces," and let them scratch their heads over the uncanny similarities. "Huh. Who'd a thought it?"

That and some of those little gift cards to Starbuck's. Just for the confusion factor.

Yeah, definitely gotta buy them all a round at Starbucks. There are many outlets. And they have a Plan.

That's it!! I just figured out the final Cylon! It's Starbucks....not Starbuck, RDM has already said she's not one, but Starbucks could be!! Just think about it....there are many copies, they are all alike, only minor variances but overall....it's the same thing.
Clearly I have too much time on my hands and spending time with a 4 year old will make you a mental case in no time.
