Hi, all. I'd like to officially introduce myself as the new mod in these Hell's Kitchen forums. Since I watch the show, I've poked my head in a couple times the past few days while the Mod Squad schedules and such got set up. Because I'm also moderating the Top Chef forums, due to some of the excitement here yesterday, I got this gig, as well. So here I am.

Keckler is still the Hell's Kitchen weecapper, in case you were wondering. Don't worry!

I'll be looking through the forums and possibly changing some things around to streamline: closing some threads, renaming others. I may need to ask your advice on what some threads are for if it's unclear or if they seem really similar to other threads. On the other hand, if you have an idea for a thread that you'd like to start, go ahead and do that. If it seems unnecessary, I'll just close it later. Also, if you think I should rename a thread to make it more relevant, let me know.

As far as rules and such things go, as you know, they're in the FAQ and the Dos and Don'ts. I don't think it's a bad idea to reread them every once in a while to see if anything new has popped up since the last time you read them.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send me a PM. I might not always respond, but I will read them all.

Just to let you know, there's a new FAQ about posting video links, and the guidelines are more open than we'd previously thought. So please be sure to refer to the FAQ for those guidelines if you want to post a link to a video, and still feel free to ask me if you're not sure.

Hey everyone -- there have been questions on the Top Chef thread, asking if I'm recapping Hell's Kitchen and, well, I'm not. Nothing major, but just as I said at TC, I'm just worn out from the reality show cycle. I'm still on TWOP, still recapping Jericho and Farscape and a few Eli Stones, as well as whatever bubbles up next year.

Ooh, forgot to add that montykins will be your new recapper. He's pretty friggin' awesome.

I mentioned in the Spoiler thread that we should be getting a new Past Seasons subforum soon. Once that happens and all the contestant threads are moved out of the Chefs of Hell subforum, you can start creating Season Four contestant threads.

When you do this, be sure you have something substantive to say about the contestant. Don't just start the thread for the sake of having a thread. You don't have to say anything profound, but make some comments that will work as a jumping off point for further discussion.

Also, please be sure to follow this format when starting a thread:

Hi Nikita,

Trying to send you a message but it's not letting me. Thought this would be the best way to get a hold of you. I am an editor at an online magazine and we get interviews the next morning after the chef is eliminated. Would you be interested in posting them in the hell's kitchen forum? Thought I should ask as I don't want to spam. Thanks,

darthsmall, that's a problem I can't help with since there's no reason you shouldn't be able to post a link. It may be temporary due to the site redesign issues, or it may be a bug. I'd try again, and if it still doesn't work, report it in the Tech Issues forum, but be aware there's a lot of tech issues being reported right now because of the site redesign.

Just letting you all know that I will away from computers for the next several weeks, and while I'm gone, other moderators will be filling in for me here, starting with Bayliss.

Also, I am going to disable my PMs while I'm away so that none sit there unanswered. If anything comes up that needs moderator attention, please use the Tech Issues forum or the Mod Announcements thread.

Since Season 5 will be starting up in a month, I've moved all the Season 4 episode and contestant threads to the Past Seasons subforum.

This means you can now start threads for the Season 5 contestants in The Chefs of Hell subforum. If you do choose to start a thread, please be sure you have something substantive to say about the chef. Don't just quote bio information about the person. You don't have to say anything profound, but make some comments that will work as a jumping off point for further discussion. If this means that some chef threads don't get started until after the show airs, that's okay.
