Ten short episodes, live action, no known ETA or cast list, to be made available on SciFi.com.

This thread assumes knowledge of all four seasons and the mini, so don't shy away from talking about events in PKW. I was going to do this as a poll but there was too much ground to cover.

To start, I will say that I'd like to see the Moyans go beyond the veil, to retrieve D'Argo and get the story closer to Rockne's short story. I will understand, but won't be overjoyed, if the series focuses on a particular culture (PKs) or exists in a flashback between seasons -- unless it's between S3 and 4, which is unlikely because that would be A) awful and B) confusing as hell for new viewers. It would be fun to bring the Moyans into conflict with the Nebari, as they're one of the main threats that never seemed to bring its full self to bear -- plus, given all Chiana's changes over the seasons, I think they'd be in for a serious ass-kicking, which would be cool. I'd also be interested in seeing the fallout from PKW, particularly its effects on Sikozu and her movement, Scorpius's loyalties and Braca, and most especially my girl Grayza ...

Who knows? The world's your playground! Wish lists, theories, unrealized realities, unrepentant squealing, it all goes here.

Yeah. That is where I am. More unrealised realities and exploring Chiana and Aeryn's connection with them.

Hell Yeah!

The Nebari are my vote. Given Chiana's interesting new powers and her recent decision to go to Hyneria with Rygel it would make sense that once she was off galavanting with Rygel she gets into trouble that could have catastrophic consequences all round.

I would love to learn more about the Kalish Resistance. Their story has been barely touched on and I think there is a ton of interesting plots and characters to mine there.

Of course I wanna know more about Noranti. But I think she is part of the Unrealised Reality storyline so...

Farscape is known for layering its plots and episodes. I would not be outrageous to see two or more of any of these ideas played through.

10 episodes... *crosses fingers they are reasonable length*

WOW WOW WOW WOW UNREPENTANT SQUEALING

I hope hope hope this is balls to the walls!

Wow. I came to Farscape after PKW, so I just thought of the series as a completed book - not as long as I'd like, but satisfying nonetheless. I never in my wildest dreams imagined there would be new Farscape. This is - wow.

My one concern is that the John and Aeryn storyline seems, well, resolved. They lived happily ever after, right? No more angst and suffering?
I'm sure I'll be proven gloriously wrong, and I'll love it.

My wish is a way to jump start a new series, even if it means abandoning most of the characters initially, then adding them back in. I'd rather that than a set that requires deep knowledge of Farscape. Failing that, I want it to be made in Australia, and to air no later than 2008.

This works for me. Though maybe D'Argo should stay dead, but his legacy maybe could live on in some unexpected way, like a Luxan/Leviathan Hybrid.

In the end though, I want it to be a good story, with great acting.

Also, the official announcement on SciFi.com.
gilliam
Hopefully we'll be able to buy them off of iTunes. I'd hate to have to be subjected to the sci-fi.com site in order to view these.

I'm another rabid Farscape fan who came to the series after it was complete and figured I'd just "read" the best scifi novel ever written & should be damn grateful for that.

I'm just beside myself!!!! I figured, coming to it so late, that at least I hadn't had to go through the agony of the cancellation & the painful anticipation & impatience of waiting for PKW when it was announced. Now, I guess I get to, and I don't regret it one bit :P

*head asplodes*

I've been reading here for a while but avoiding posting cause I figure...what do I have to offer that you all haven't said 1001 times & said better? :)

Shut Up!!!!!!!!! New Farscape?

Seriously excited about this. . .

WOW ... JUST WOW ... I love this story and any aspect they choose to expand - I am there. I love John, Aeryn Chiana, Rygel and Dargo. My dream would be to have D'argo back. I love the john and d'argo show. WOW ... just WOW. Is this real?
kayaj2k
Don't forget Pilot! I so hate the thought of him all crated up in storage somewhere. With the assumedly limited budget for webisodes, I'm wondering if they'll even use Moya as a setting.

Hush! Er, I mean, don't hush. If there's one thing Scapers need to do now more than ever, it's to make noise. And on that note, count one more unrepentant squealer right here!
FoolishWanderer
When I first saw this thread, I totally didn't get it. I was thinking, "But it's BSG that has the webisodes. What's with Jacob?" I'll blame the hangover, and reading threads from the top of the board down.

Yeah, I'd like to see beyond the veil too. And/or kicking some Nebari backside. And/or restoring Rygel to this throne. Or... pretty much whatever they give us. I'm easy. :)
Raksha
Revolution SF has a funny little blurb about the announcement. No new info, but it still made me laugh.

Farscape to Return, Break Internet
Selannia
They could jump ahead in the timeline and make this the adventures of John and Aeryn's son D'Argo.

Shut Up!!!!!!!!! New Farscape?

LOL! That's kind of my reaction.

I'm interested in what they'll give us...
Eegah
A big wish for me: a love interest for Moya! The series never really got into how Leviathans get pregnant without a supply of the necessary materials already on board, and while I wouldn't want to get too detailed about it would still be nice to give a little hint that they have relationships like anything else. Plus, the characters would get another ship to wander around and unlike Talyn they wouldn't have to build any new sets.

Along with the new Babylon 5 and Harry Potter, this is turning out to be one of my best birthdays ever (well, it's next week but still).
roguetamlin
Like others cautiously optimistic. Trying to decide what gods to make sacrifises to for closure on the Nebari storyline. Pleeeeeeeease, great gods of Farscape!!!
Firecracker1

Chiana did say she was going to Hyneria to help Rygel regain his throne, and PK Wars did have that interesting and non-plot forwarding scene with Rygel and Bishan... I think that the Nebari plotline AND Rygel regaining his throne could easily be entwined because of the Chiana connection.

Not to mention the 'beyond the veil' connection. Chiana really is the link between those three stories.

Or... pretty much whatever they give us. I'm easy. :)

Yeah. The Jim Henson Company and RHI Entertainment (Hallmark) are very proud of Farscape, and they are both known for producing quality entertainment. I don't think they will let us down. :) Whatever story they want to tell, I am ready to enjoy. :D
McKinley
Wow!!! Anyone else here hoping that this is a trial balloon of sorts, and if there is strong interest in the webisodes SciFi may bring bring Farscape back to our TV screens?
Cheesedog1
Just came in to say that this news has been Farked

That has been hinted at in the media ... but not by the powers that be. Just speculation.

Still nice to think about tho. :D
seniorsleuth
Cautiously optimistic here as well. Ideally, this could lay a groundwork for another mini, at least. But, I don't know. The scifi.com Farscape fandom tends to be younger and into different stuff than the larger Farscape fandom, and I'm afraid these webisodes may cater primarily to them. And, truthfully, I'd be seriously disappointed if two or three of the major, non-muppet characters did not play a significant part. But I guess we'll see.
Firecracker1
Farscape's strength was always the internet community. And every single time someone downloads a webisode - that is counted. So the Neilson ratings are bypassed.

The internet is where Farscape rules. I am not worried about it finding an audience. The audience is already there. :)

Oh and just one commment?

Puppets don't work cheap. Rygel and Pilot are already built so that investment is good - but both characters require five (5!) puppeteers to operate and then in addition, the voice over actor.

None of those people come cheap.

So... ummmmm. Rygel and Pilot are integral parts of the Farscape Universe, but human actors are cheaper.

Just ask Ben Browder. At Comic Con. Where he and Brian Henson are making an appearance (in separate panels). Anyone going? We need some information!
McKinley
"David Howe, executive vice president and general manager said some of the show's original cast would appear in the webisodes, but would not comment further." Full article appears here.
seniorsleuth
I am not worried about it finding an audience.

Which audience, though? As I see it, there are a couple of audiences, even internet audiences, out there. Scifi.com targets a particular segment of Farscape's audience--the one, I think, that is less into character and more into the whiz, bang, ain't that a cool alien, fanboy stuff.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. :)

But you can't have Farscape without John Crichton, right? And you can't have John without Aeryn, right? If those two are a foundation, and there are a couple more (not excluding our favorite muppets), I guess I'd be satisfied.

But that doesn't mean I don't still want another TV mini.

Since Ben Browder and Andrew Prowse are doing the Going Homer mini-series for SciFi, I wonder if BB will be more available or less available to work on these. I'd be really surprised if he didn't make every effort to be involved though.

It's only a six hour miniseries, and seems to be farther along, so I can easily see him finishing work on it at just the right time to begin work on the Farscape webisodes.
Quizzical1
I have low expectations. If the Battlestar Galactica webisodes are any indication, each one will be no longer than 5 minutes each, and might feature like one major character, and then many peripheral characters, like Nebari who are not Chiana, or a cluster of Delvians. They've been selling off most of the Farscape scenery and clothing on eBay, so they'll mostly need new stuff, which limits the amount of scenery they can use.
stillshimpy
I'm reserving my true excitement for when we get word on which cast members are set to be involved but for right now I've cautiously excited.

Absolutely, I'd love to see the Nebari storyline explored further but what is Gigi up to these days? I'm thrilled that it seems as if Farscape may indeed by rising from the ashes, but I can't help being a bit nervous about whether it is going to be with the original characters, or if they are going with some kind of Next Generation approach.

From iFmagazine, 7/16/2007:
iF MAGAZINE: Will the original cast be returning for FARSCAPE?

DAVE HOWE: We don’t know. Literally, we closed the deal yeaterday, so we haven’t gotten into any of the creative conversations about casting, or story; all of that is yet to come. It is based on FARSCAPE so it will involve the characters from the series, but we don’t know who or what.
So, it seems anything goes.
uptoolate1966
My idea of new Farscape perfection (besides having Ben and Claudia, of course) would be for them to get KernilCrash to co-write them with Ben.

And may I just say

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
helloearth
I am so excited! I don't really care who they focus on as long as they are able to maintain the same quality as the series (which I question). But I'll take my Farscape just about any way I can get it. Squee!
tashiann11
I am really looking forward to this whatever it may turn out to be.
Rockne's short story.

I didn't realize this was all based on a short story. Where can one find it?
uptoolate1966
Rockne wrote a story called Horizons that's set far into the future, long after PKW. They haven't said the webisodes are meant to be based on the story, but it has some fascinating stuff in it (like the 'beyond the veil' idea that Firecracker mentioned) that would be a lot of fun for the webisodes.
cutecouple
However, Horizons was written after Farscape S4, but before PKW was produced.
Arevhat
I'm terribly excited about this, but trying not to be.....

What the hell, I loathed PKW, and it didn't damage my feelings for the rest of the series. Yaaaaaay new Farscape, whatever the form and quality!
Firecracker1
By the way - I haven't expressed my feelings properly yet.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Ok. I feel better now. ;)
Quizzical1
Hee. It seems like Farscape fans are united in their inarticulate celebrations, even half way around the world. Like this blogger

I just noticed the eight webisodes for Galactica are each going to be 2 to 3 minutes. So, sadly, I'm thinking the Farscape webisodes will each be very short also? Maybe the whole ten episodes, cumulatively, will total as much as one 1-hour normal TV episode (42 minutes of running time)?
bluebear
Is this for real? So cool. Whatever the case may be, i'm craving for more Farscape and i'm taking the bone with pleasure :)

Ok wait. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Ehm..Yep. Just had to get it out of my system.
TheBallerina
*crosses fingers that RO'B, DK, and all the great people will be working with BH*

True. I'm sure they each will be 2-5 minutes in length, but hopefully Skiffy will be impressed with the Scaper response.

I don't have a story idea that I want them to explore. I just want them to stay true to Farscape. I know how much FS means to BH and co., so I'm sure that won't be a problem.
cutecouple
The Galactica webisodes are also meant to be played on TV, and probably are under greater time constraints. Plus, they were that length last year.

I'm hoping they're a little less fixated on length this time around.

And also, if memory serves, the Galactica webisodes had production problems because NBC Universal wanted them for free, and the various guilds said no. Presumably all the contracts will be in order this time.

From what I understand the BSG 2-minute content is called by Skiffy 'mini-sodes'.

They have clearly stated that Farscape's 10 episodes are 'webisodes'.

They wouldn't have named them differently if there wasn't a difference.

*hey. I can live on Fantasy Island if I want to.*

I'm telling myself that no creative force in the Farscapeverse would ever contemplate doing this without Ben and Claudia--as a minimum.

And I'm listening (to myself).
Eegah
I actually wouldn't mind too much if they go the Star Trek route and do a completely new series in the same universe but decades down the line, with totally new characters. At this point the Farscape world is complex enough that I think it could withstand something like that.

Ugh! And I suppose methadone is an acceptable substitute for heroin for you?!!! It's a slippery slope, my friend. At this rate, I fully expect to find you soon in some alley, one arm curled around an economy-size bottle of cough syrup, the other holding a sock puppet you insist upon referring to as "Ryge".

*snicker*

But I agree. It isn't Farscape without at least Rygel and Pilot and 'some' of the original characters.

And since Farscape does need that 'human POV' to hook the audience and their ain't no humans in the Unchartered Territories except for that one male (... what was his name?...) it kinda has to be John Crichton. ;)

The only way that this would work is if it is humanities first push away from earth into the territories that we know and love. Farscape is nothing without human naivety. Perhaps his nephew years later looking for what happened to Uncle John.
Lily Patil
To my own surprise, I think that I'd be ok if John and Aeryn weren't in the webisodes. Mostly because I just can't stand the thought of John having to go through any more sturm and angst. He and Aeryn can live happily ever after with Little D while we find out what happens next to Sikozu and Chiana, what the Scarrans are up to, and whether rumors of D'Argo's death have been greatly exaggerated.

I think it could too. Although the webisode format would seem like a bad place to make a total disconnect, and will probably retain something for current fans to hook into. However, I've never remembered any of the TPTB saying specifically that they look forward to doing more stories with the same characters.

Perhaps his nephew years later looking for what happened to Uncle John.
I had a similar idea of colleagues of John getting wormholed and looking for Crichton so that he can send them home.

I guess one valid question is - do they follow up any existing possibilities, or set something up for a miniseries or new series? Could this turn into a valid backdoor pilot?
