So....of course I am a huge X-Files fan, but I have not seen seasons 8 and 9 except for the very last episode. I've heard conflicting reports on the last 2 seasons, so I'd like some opinions, please. End with season 7 + the final series episode or watch the last 2 seasons? My favorite seasons are 1-5, if that makes a difference. And I'd be netflixing the last 2 seasons instead of adding them to my DVD collection, so the cost is not at issue. So will watching the last 2 seasons make me a complete person or ruin any love I have for the X-Files? Please advise....

After season 7 finale, and talk of X-files not being good when Mulder left, I naively had thoughts like, "I trust the X-files creators and writers, I'm sure they'll know what to do-- I can't imagine X-files not being must see"-- Well, a few episodes into season 8 I became severely bitter. They ruined my favorite show-- and quit watching completely. Last week, I blockbuster-onlined seasons 8 and 9 and tried to watch. I felt the same old frustrations, but since I was prepared for the painful disapointment I was able to accept it a little better and make the best of it. The disapointment for me comes from feeling that there was potential and there was so much stuff that the viewers wanted to see, but CC and co. didn't show us what they should have--
(ie: Scully's baby-making saga) it was all retroactive...and full of pointless stupidity.

If this gives you any indication, I watched the entire 8-9 set of dvds (which have like 40 hours of show) in less than 6 hours total because I fast-forwarded through the crap. I pretty much kept tabs of what Scully was up to, and mostly scoffed at it screaming unanswered questions at the TV as my blood pressure rose.

the moral of the story is: if you want to feel an even greater appreciation for seasons 1 through 5, just watch seasons 8-9.

This thread will likely be locked, but I'm sure if you head over to the season 8 and 9 threads that already exist, people would love to share the opinions as to whether those seasons are worth the time it takes to watch them.
