But yes, Dustin is absolutely a 9 right now.

Good to see I'm not the only one picking Dustin as a favorite early on-- a straight girl with a big crush on the guy. That crush seems pretty useless, but he's pretty on camera, seems like a decent guy, and is hysterical.
He also handled the house with a lot more class than Joe, but let's be real-- how could you handle it with less, short of showing people the diseases in question?

Jul 6, 2007 @ 10:06 am
And, the really great thing about this for Dustin is that all of his old friends, the ones that Joe turned against him in the breakup, are already getting to see a) what a colossal tool Joe is (although I can't imagine that would be news) and b) what the real truth of the situation is. Even if Dustin doesn't win BB, he wins.
I hope Dustin's real friends stuck by him, though, or that he was able to make some real friends after his nightmare with Joe.

Well, he still has that cat, and that's what really matters in the end. While it is nice that CBS cast more than the usual token gay guy, it's really not fair that the two that are on the show hate each other too much for a hook-up to be all that likely.

Plus my guess is that Eric had to be 'up' for flirting with/hooking up with either gender in order to be 'America's Player' once it was known that gay and straight players were cast. And Nick also seems to be playing the gay card with Joe, which would mean he would just as easily use the same tactic with Dusty...or Eric. Should be a fun summer.

Jul 6, 2007 @ 12:56 pm
Oh, my yes, please. Eric, Nick and Dustin all on a round bed together. And icky, nasty Joe Big Nipple ousted to the sidelines. (Or better yet, off in Sequesterville as soon as possible.) That would be so sweet.

Well, he still has that cat, and that's what really matters in the end.
When announcer guy mentioned that Joe had turned all of their friends against Dustin, and it cut to a shot of Dustin with his cat, it totally made it seem as if Kitty's his only friend now. I doubt that's the case, but a great edit for sympathy, I'd say. It worked on me.
I'm really liking this guy, and in comparison to Joe he becomes even more sane, normal, and likable. I just hope that he can stay calm and rational and not let Joe bring out any ugly sides to him.

Dustin should sue Joe for defamation or slander for making such a false and heinous accusation. Even if it was true he should still take legal action. Just don't sue the pants off of Joe, 'cause that boy needs to be covered up at all times, I suggest a burqa.

Also, I have a really hard time believing he's the one being untruthful between him and Joe-- if he's lying, he's a damn good liar, and Joe's a very bad truth-teller.

I'm right there with you bro...he's got a runner's build, which always makes me go, "rowr.."
I like that he's not some totally gym buffed rat...he seems more natural.
And I totally believe him over Joe. I just can't imagine how the hell Joe was able to land him in the first place.
The whole shoes saleman thing keeps me from totally having a full-blown crush, though...unless he's doing it to support himself while going to college or something. Or he just can't find something with his major, so he's doing it until he can find a real job.

Don't kill the interloper (grin), but it's 'sis', and a very envious sis, by looking at Dustin. I find him totally endearing, though, all shallowness aside. I hope he gets a chance to get to know some of the other players so they don't only see what Joe has put forth.

After the conversation in the hammock tonight, it seems to me that Dustin is quite insecure (and maybe a bit naive) and Joe is the manipulative one. Perhaps that's how they ended up together in the first place: Dustin doesn't know his worth (in looks, personality, attitutde, etc.) and he "settled" for Joe.

After the conversation in the hammock tonight, it seems to me that Dustin is quite insecure (and maybe a bit naive) and Joe is the manipulative one.
In that respect, Joe scares me a great deal, because it seems as though he's the kind of significant other who tells little lies and convinces you they're truths, especially about your self-worth. It almost gives of screaming EMOTIONALLY ABUSIVE signals, whether or not he is. The statement that he 'made' Dustin, to me, is all about not only belittling Dustin now, but doing so retroactively, as well, to make him feel crappy about himself. It's scary to watch, and very uncomfortable. I'm glad to see Dustin sit up and say "Hang on a minute--" I only wonder if he ever did that during the relationship.
It's definitely an uncomfortable vibe to have in the house, and Dustin recognizes it. Now if only Joe's penchant for drama would slip aside so he could realize it, as well.

Was it the editing, or did it seem that Dustin was losing the argument in the hammock?
When I was listening to it I was thinking that Joe was a vain, delusional, egomaniac. I just hope Dustin doesn't lose his standing in the house, because Joe's louder. We know that in stressful reality show situations, sometimes the loud agressor can get a hand over the competition, because I don't know, people want to appease him, before they want him to leave. A'la Rocky from
Survivor.
In shallower news, I think that Dustin looks like
Desmond Harrington's gay little brother. He's not that well known, but he's done a few big things like Steven Spielberg's Taken.

What made that line ever more awesome, velvetmorning, was that he said it in such a serious way. The whole conversation could have been one major cat fight, which I wouldn't put past Joe, but I give major props to Dustin for keeping his cool as long as he has so far.
Can I just say that Dustin's facial expressions are some combination of hilarious and amazing. Something about the way he just opens (wide) his mouth is amazing to me, especially in combination to the roving eyebrows.

I think this has a lot of merit. He's pretty young, and young people are often seduced by a veneer of confidnece -- that is to say, loud-mouthed assholery.
Also, anyone who lists as favorite drinks 'diet rootbeer and rum' and 'sugar-free tang' is

After the first hour, I wasn't too big on either of them but after seeing the hammock talk, I'm going to agree. Especially with Joe admitting that he did a lot to get revenge on Dustin. I just hope with Joe flapping his mouth about anything and everything, people will see he can't be trusted. With Dustin popping a vein when hearing about the (alledged) VD, you wouldn't be acting like that unless it was absolutely false...or it was the complete truth and Dustin is a freakin' Method actor.

"shake like an epileptic in an arcade" is the best thing I've ever heard on this show. Dustin kinda makes me want to be a gay man.
The seriousness in his voice for that completely broke my heart, simply because... well, if you haven't been in a relationship so bad and so hurtful that you can't even think about the person without getting upset, and the very prospect of facing them scares you, then you're very lucky. While the line itself was colorful, the look in his eyes was a little deer-in-headlights. I know it's likely they'll make peace sometime in the interim and since they're each the only person in the house 'compatible' to the other (sexually speaking), I'm sure there will be some temptation/flattery/flirtation, but I'm dreading it, because Dustin would be smart to steer clear of Joe altogether.
After Joe was screaming (again) about having immaculately conceived an STD, Dustin's dismayed, hurt little "He never mentions that I was on vacation when he got his test results back" just made me want to smack Joe all the more, because you can tell this has all been done before, over and over, and Dustin's inability and unwillingness to outscream the drama queen rendered him unable to combat it every single time.
