Wing Chun has been kind enough to give us permission to create a thread for "TinyCaps".

Here's the poop:

* TinyCaps describe a single ep in 50 words or less.

* TinyCaps can be posted by any of us.

* TinyCaps can be just as snarky as we want them to be.

* TinyCaps don't need to be spoiler tagged, since they're recaps.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's what I've got for the S.3 TinyCaps, so far. (I'll edit as we go along.) PM me if I've screwed up, or if you want to sign up for an open ep.

00 - The Runaway Bride --- cutecouple

01 - Smith and Jones --- mynamhere
Martha meets Ten, space rhinos and a lady who drinks blood through a bendy straw. Ten gets sucked on (not like that!), Bendy Straw dies and the world is saved. Martha learns: running is fun, aliens are good kissers, it's bigger on the inside, and to vote for Saxon.

02 - The Shakespeare Code ---The Mad Maple
In Elizabethan London, three alien witches use the Globe Theatre to release their race from another dimension. Our heroes help Shakespeare stop them (with a little assist from J.K. Rowling). Oh, and Shakespeare hits on Miss Jones, flirts with The Doctor, and dopes out the whole time-travel thing.

03 - Gridlock --- AZ
Martha gets kidnapped on New Earth after being mad about going to the same places Rose did. Novice Hame kidnaps Ten for the Face of Boe. Everyone's trapped in the worst traffic jam ever. They all sing. Face of Boe reveals his last message and Ten tells Martha about Gallifrey.

04 - Daleks Take Manhatten --- BlueOwl

05 - Evolution of the Daleks --- racerguy120390
As the strength-in-lack-of-numbers parade continues to screw themselves over, we see more useless pigslaves, more continuity errors than ever, and another 1121 reference (wrong show, writer lady!). In other news, Daleks refuse to follow their orders and exterminate the oddly endearing Sec. Oh, the (newfound) humanity!

06 - The Lazarus Experiement --- MommySusan

07 - 42 --- Eegah
The answer to life, the universe, and everything is the number of minutes the Doctor has to save the spaceship du jour from falling into a star. Which is alive and wants its heart back. Or something; this episode really doesn't follow our Earth logic. Martha's mom is a dirty, dirty rat, the Doctor does some nasty and kind of hypocritical shouting at us stupid apes, and the rules of what will cause him to regenerate are fudged some more, again.

08 - Human Nature --- Jaman
09 - Family of Blood --- AngleMan

10 - Blink --- Tinted
A Mary Sue and her boyfriend-to-be are terrorized by the Weeping Angels. At least, I think that was what happened as I was hidden behind my duvet. Meanwhile, the Doctor and Martha are trapped/looking hot in 1969 but Martha’s had to get a shop-job to support his unemployable alien ass.

11 - Utopia --- rdb
Ten and Martha save the last of the human race from scenery chewing vampires by sending them to Utopia. But who cares about that? Jack! Fobwatch! YANA! It's the Master, Ten's Time Lord nemesis! And he's stolen the TARDIS and dumped them at the end of the Universe! Uh oh...

12 - Sound of Drums --- Cosanostra

Bye bye Tony Blair, hello Saxon! But he’s really the Master. He loves to bait the Doctor. The Doctor comes…to the conclusion that mobile phones are evil. The Master decimates people with his balls. The President gets zapped. So does the pretty. Here come the drums here come the drums!

13 - The Last of the Time Lords --- AriEmory
cutecouple
I'm interested in giving it a go. When does this need to be done by? I'd have to post early, since I'm otherwise occupied this weekend.
prop chick
We're nice and deadline-free in here, lol. (Although, we should keep the eps in order, just for the sake of sanity.)

Episode one is yours! Post it whenever you're ready. (Just remember to stick at or under 50 words.)
CordeliaGray
Great idea, prop chick!

I had a thought, don't know how others feel, but at some point (maybe after S3 is finished in Canada & the US) would it be feasible for people to post TinyCaps of Original Series stories?
arizonamyrie
I'll post for something - just let me know which one. I've probably already seen it.

And I'd love Classic Who TinyCaps!

Actually, I have an idea as well. Can we still link to a longer recap of our own? Cause, I love the snark involved in the TWoP recaps, and I don't think we'll get them in 50 words or less.

cutecouple's recap - is that The Runaway Bride or Smith and Jones?
prop chick

I don't see why not... We could give it a try, and see how it works out.

I'm thinking that we would be better to have a regular outside place to post them, where we all know to expect them. Would anybody be interested in an ezBoard? I can throw one together for us, if folks are interested. (We'd still have the TC's here, so that we've got a good basis for the threads.)

ETA: Okaaaaaay. ezBoard has turned all to crap, hasn't it? Hmm...well, we can always stick 'em on back pages of one of my sites. I'm not anywhere near using up my bandwith and/or space.

ETA, Again: Don't know if we want to post 'em on a regular website or not (PM me to let me know what y'all want), but I've started us a private group to tawk about 'em. (Check my profile for the link.) That'll let us keep non-TWoP business off-site.
Ivriniel
Tiny caps of classic series episodes?

I'd like to see someone try to summarize The Dalek's Master Plan in less than 50 words. ;)
BlueOwl
The only suggestion I'd have is that perhaps the "Tinycaps" should not be posted before the episode in question has aired in the US. For the sake of anyone who wants to remain spoiler free for the US pace. Or something.

cutecouple's recap - is that The Runaway Bride or Smith and Jones?

Since Runaway Bride is being treated as the first episode of the Third season on Sci-Fi, I'd vote that it should be cosidered the "First episode" that cutecouple signed up for.

I'd love to participate, maybe for one half of the DIM/EOTD story, but to be perfectly honest I don't know if I can say "Word!" in under 50 words, let alone recap an episode.
Jaman
Ooh. I love this idea. Sign me up.

But, I'm also in favor of waiting until they've aired in the US. Everyone who's been a good boy/girl and not read the spoiler bars deserves something right?
prop chick
I think it's a good plan. It also lets us have TinyCappers from both sides of the Atlantic.

Stupid question: can someone PM me a S.3 episode list?
arizonamyrie
Sent it.
prop chick
YAY, thanks! (Typed 'n' posted it.)
mynamehere
I wouldn't mind helping out, I think I can sum up a DW episode in 50 words or less. Can we make a list of who is tinycapping which episode so that way 30 tiny caps don't pop up after the episode has aired.

*edit because words and works are two different things
Nuallain
Oooh, I'd be interested if anyone wants to hand me an episode (any episode).

Another suggestion: I think the classic tinycaps are a great idea but I think it'd work best if (i) they're only done in weeks no new episode has aired (ii) we keep it to episodes released on DVD (so there's at least some chance everyone will have seen it, or at least could just go out and pick it up without too much trouble) and (iii) we actually do it episode by episode - so, say, Ark in Space gets four 50 word tinycaps rather than 50 words to cover the whole two hours.
Cosanostra
I'd love to do one, yes please! Anything from the second half of the season, though I'd love to do sound of the drums.
rdb
Ooh, that sounds like a great idea. Please can I do one, and if I can put in specific requests I'd love to do Gridlock. And I like the idea of having somewhere off-TWOP to expand them out.
megspenchant
Just an idea-If anyone who wants to submit a tinycap, starts the tinycap with the name of the season 3 episode and then spoiler bars the contents of their submission until US screening of the episode. Once televised the writer can then do a quickie edit to remove the black bars. I believe that this is in accordance with the forum guidelines.

This way episode continuity is not a problem as you can write about whatever episode that you choose and spoilerwhores can read all submissions and those who wish to remain spoiler free are also catered for as they can quickly scan through episode titles and find the episode minicaps that they want to read whilst remaining spoilerfree.

I think this is a good balance although a better idea would be to keep Jacob recapping Doctor Who.

Just a couple of suggestions.
Cosanostra
Where should we post them, do you think?
megspenchant
Here?
Cygnia
If we're doing Classic episodes, I've a copy of "The Five Doctors" and willingness to volunteer for it.
arizonamyrie
I know I'm on the list, and prom chick had me PM her about selecting an episode. She's kind of organizing this, and a site linking to the Tiny Caps for a larger version where the writers will have more free will than 50 words. Which really is tiny.
prop chick
Sorry, all -- just woke up. (Messed up schedule right now.)

Please don't start a seperate thread for each TC. We get just this one thread for it.

Gridlock's already spoken for, sorry. (It's either cutecouple's or AZ's...brain not awake enough yet to remember, lol.)

Several people have PM'd me to ask that we hold TC's until after the ep has aired in the US. I actually agree with this idea, mainly because it means everybody has an equal chance to write one. (Can't write it until you see it, lol.)

Cygnia, I would LOVE to have that one TC'd.

(Remember, folks. Please PM me for any questions about anything off-TWoP.)
Cosanostra
So, I'll wait til after sound of the drums has aired in the US to post then. Have pm'd you about the off-piste stuff. :)
prop chick
*moved*
Ivriniel
Might I suggest putting that in the first post? It would make it easier to find for future reference.
The Mad Maple
I wouldn't mind getting in on this. I missed the chance to take notes for "Smith and Jones" and "The Shakespeare Code", though, so sign me up for one of the later ones. "Evolution of the Daleks", maybe?
Jaman
Mmmm....I'll take Human Nature if no one else minds.
mynamehere
I can take Smith and Jones unless someone else really really wants it.
prop chick
Ivriniel - thanks for the suggestion! (I'm thinking we can post the TC's in there, too, so that they're right at the front.)

my, Mad, and Ja -- you're all on the list!
AngleMan
As someone grabbed Family of blood? if not i'll take it. if it's grabbed i'll take 42
cutecouple

Fair enough. I won't be able to post mine (Runaway Bride) anyway at the right time, so if someone else wants to do it, have at it.
AriEmory
Hello, all (fellow mourners of the absence of Jacob's prose) --

I'm a faithful reader if seldom poster -- I'd love to do the finale, please.
Eegah
I'd like to do 42. No idea what it's about but I love Hitchhiker's Guide.
AngleMan
Can we get a list of who's doing what?
mynamehere
If you look on the first page, prop chick is updating the first post with a list of who's doing what episode.
Tinted
May I be allowed to do one? Blink would be lovely.
rdb
No Gridlock? Ok then, I don't think I've seen anyone ask for Utopia yet, so please can I do that? Although if I have to I'll settle for The Lazarus Experiment.
The Mad Maple
While I was killing time at work last night, I dashed off a quick one-paragraph recap of "The Shakespeare Code". Just a matter of paring it down to under 50 words, if you want to pencil me in for that one. (And if I'm only allowed one, just take my name off of the Daleks episode.)
mynamehere
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, and someone can pm me the answer, but is there going to be a site for longer recaps if people want to write them. I got a little wordy with my original draft of Smith and Jones ;)
MommySusan
Ummm...I realize I'm fairly new here, but if it's ok and no one else wants it, I'd take a crack at Lazarus.
Ivriniel
Oi! What happened to spoiler baring the tinycaps in the first post? :)
Jaman
Ooh yeah. Are we not waiting until after they air in the US?
Doesn't matter much to me either way, just need someone to make a decision : )
prop chick
Oi! What happened to spoiler baring the tinycaps in the first post? :)

Sorry about that!! I was juggling between the two sites earlier, and had a major brain drain. All fixed now! We'll un-spoiler as they air.
Cosanostra
Here's my Sound of the Drums tinycap, if you wanna add to the first post?

Bye bye Tony Blair, hello Saxon! But he’s really the Master. He loves to bait the Doctor. The Doctor comes…to the conclusion that mobile phones are evil. The Master decimates people with his balls. The President gets zapped. So does the pretty. Here come the drums here come the drums!

Longer recap to follow for the off-twop thingie.
Tinted
Assuming people are still doing this, I'd be more than happy to do one for EOTD tomorrow, as nobody else has taken it yet.
raceguy120390
I'll do a TC for Evolution of the Daleks after it airs in Australia tonight.
raceguy120390
For some reason the board isn't letting me edit, so sorry for the double post. Anyway, here's my TC for Evolution of the Daleks (aka The Joy Of Sec... And Other Emotions). I realise the poster before me also signed up for it, but maybe we could have two for this one?

As the strength-in-lack-of-numbers parade continues to screw themselves over, we see more useless pigslaves, more continuity errors than ever, and another 1121 reference (wrong show, writer lady!). In other news, Daleks refuse to follow their orders and exterminate the oddly endearing Sec. Oh, the (newfound) humanity!
Flipote
I'm curious - what is 1121, and what was the reference?
raceguy120390
Sorry. (I'm a semi-sci-fi nerd, and stupidly figured most people would get it). 1121 is a common reference used in The X-Files, most often as a date or time (It's the creator's wife's birthday). The reference was somewhat obscure - at 11:15pm, Ten references there being 6 minutes left until the solar flare or whatever it was - which therefore would have happened at 11:21pm.
Flipote
Thanks!
