For talk of the Elimination Station webcast, showing racers dealing with their eliminations and something something sequester house. It's on
http://www.cbs.com/innertube/; new 15 minute episodes show Sunday after the West Coast TAR showing, 9 PM PT. I'm betting that this is US only, though I'd be surprised otherwise. And I'd like to see what they talk about during an NEL.

My understanding is that it would show at 9 Pacific, 12 Eastern, but so far, they've run nothing. I've checked innertube and the TAR11 homepage, but no references to it or anything. I was hoping for one last look at my beloved JVJ before they depart. Perhaps CBS is having technical glitches?

I just checked out the first episode. I believe the running time was 2:29. Not much new information, but it'll be nice to check in with the former racers each week.

I just attempted to check out the first episode. Unfortunately, they don't allow Canadians to view it. Anyone care to summarise or does anyone know ways around the block?

JVJ arrived--the sequesterville is in Acapulco. It's a gorgeous place overlooking the water, with maid service, a pool, all the luxuries. They get settled in and hang around by the pool, saying that as great as this place is, they'd rather be freezing or sweating, getting dirty. They express regrets about not getting to see more of the world. They speculate on who will be joining them next--JV mentions Charla and Mirna, and Jill mentions Kevin and Drew. They finish by saying that it's likely to be a surprise, as they were surprised that they ended up there.

Much less than I thought it would be. Seems nice. Pity that JVJ were first there. Judging by the text with the video, it appears that they'll be under tighter control. Then again, being known reality show stars, having them wander around would be a giveaway.

It sounds like a new location for Sequesterville, as well. I don't recall ever hearing of Acapulco being used in the past.
Yeah, this is the first time they really had to totally hide the eliminated Racers during filming.

I have a dial-up connection at home. I visit a few libraries, but they don't have the proper packages to show stuff like ES. Is there any way for me to get on Innertube without having to deal with crappy "reception"?
So there's not much of ES, huh? That's a relief...if JVJ were to get back together, constant cameras wouldn't be much of a help.

So sad to see JVJ be teh first ones here. From the videos, do I detect a note of wanting to get back together on Jill's part, but John saying they'll always be friends? My heart goes out a little to them and their dilemna. Gald they can be functional and friendly with each other though. I wonder if either has a significant other watching?

I loved Jill saying she hoped Oswald and Danny would be next at the house, because they would be the most fun to hang out with. She clearly recognizes awesomeness when she sees it, and the four of them looked like they were having a great time in the boats in the opening sequence of last night's show. But I hope to dog that she didn't put a hex on them. If they go out next, I'm going to blame it all on her!

Turns out that I can see the stuff on CBS.com at my library. Damn, that was depressing. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't JVJ already go to Acalpuco in TAR3?
theschnauzers
Feb 20, 2007 @ 1:57 pm
Lantern, IIRC, the teams had a pit stop between Acalpuco and Mexico City at the end of Leg 1, but I don't think any teams made it to Acalpuco proper.
If they did win a trip there, and they're back there now, it might have had a positive effect on the both of them.

Do they really pay people at CBS to come up with names like "Elimination Station?"
Watching JVJ wander forlornly around the villa was too sad for me; but it could get interesting as more people join them.

Yes, for a grand total of 2 days until the second eliminated team arrives, 4 days until the third eliminated team arrives and probably 7 days until the fourth eliminated team arrives. After that, the eliminated teams are in Africa, Europe and Asia and are going to a different Sequesterville.

Depending on the order of elimination, teams apparently either get sent to the main Sequesterville or travel with the production team and act as decoys. Or so I thought.
Masem
Feb 21, 2007 @ 4:45 pm
Generally, all teams up through the team eliminated at F6 are sent to the single Sequesterville (which this show should have been totally called, "Elimination Station" sounds like a Schoolhouse Rock song...). The F5 and F4 teams may or may not go there, depending on how many legs are left, if there's any long hauls, etc. These teams have been known to fly with production in some cases. However, it's been more the tradition to have those teams go back to the States about the same time (plus or minus a day) to run decoy legs.
Generally, with the Sequesterville somewhere around the Grenwich line, it's easy to send the first 6-7 teams there from wherever the Race is, but those last 1 or 2, by the time they got there, they'd have to pack to turn around to catch up with the race as it gets back into the States.

LogCabinPat, to the best of my knowledge there was a second Sequesterville established at Nagoya, Japan. Teams there were pulled to travel one day ahead of the Final 3 as they departed the next-to-last pitstop and headed for the finish line.

If only 5 teams go to this elimination station, I feel bad for JVJ. Do they have to stay there a month with them? I have refused to read the spoilers to know who the first 5 teams are but it could be a very weird combination of people to spend that much time with in one house.

FRAKSEN, best estimates are that the first 5 teams were eliminated Nov. 21, 23, 25, 28, and Dec. 2. All of them had to get to the finish line city before Dec. 17. The last team in Sequesterville - Acapulco had less than 2 weeks there and Jon Vito and Jill almost 4 weeks.

Lame, fake opener with JVJ talking about who will be coming through the door. "Comedy Gold" with the Frats talking about stoops (Drew sounded like a stupe). JV is just as dull as I always thought. The Frats trash talking about teams that beat them, even if I dislike Charla and Mirna, too, is not pretty. This was my first, and may be last, visit to the Elimination Station--unless Romber end up there, that entry I might find interesting.

Now, that's the real Kevin and Drew...kidding around, looking relaxed. Great "stoop" dialogue.
What a beautiful location and all that gorgeous food!
Cool that 4 New Yorkers are hanging out.
Man, Kevin nailed exactly what irritates me about Charla and Snarla that Mirna does all sorts of shit and then points at Charla , like "look I'm just protecting the little person here."
Hope J and JV are re-kindling.

At first, I thought you meant "smokin' " -- and I found that hard to believe, much as I love Drew.
Yes, smoking, and trying to hide the cigarette.
It is a beautiful place to spend a month, and I have ALWAYS wanted to see shots of teams arriving at Sequesterville!
They do not seem to be archiving the segments at CBS -- I only got to see the second one, with the arrival of Drew/Kevin.
Of course, this is the first time Drew/Kevin got to see a Sequesterville, as they were eliminated too late in TAR1 to go to the Sequesterville that season -- just straight back to NYC.
JVJ did not seem particularly chummy -- sitting a good ten feet from each other poolside. I suppose the teams know that when the cameras turn on and they are asked to speculate about who may show up, that is a good clue that someone's arrival is imminent. I assume Drew/Kevin would have gotten to Acapulco sooner than most teams, as they did not have to travel across time zones (much) to get there.

Oh,
Tarsier, I laughed for some time with this one. Sequesterville is a passing thing, but a quick wit is a joy forever.
I love this footage, along with the shots from the pit cam. It's nice to see the teams interact. It would be interesting to see the Staten Island love connection disrupted by the likes of Charla and Mirna.
Mirna "Why did you follow us to the waffle table, Drew?"
Drew: "You just picked on Kevin for jumping ahead of you. I thought I'd be a gentleman and wait."
Mirna "You are no gentleman! Hovering over tiny little Charla, waiting to take the waffles from our mouths! You're a criminal" [spits at his shoes].
Drew: [looks at his shoe] "Is that necessary? I just got these from a famous Mexican cobbler. I can't get these in my neighborhood."
Charla: "Are you getting a waffle or not? Decide."
Mirna: "You're upsetting her! You're upsetting my poor, microscopic but good hearted cousin!"
Drew: "I apologize, Charla."
Mirna: "Don't talk down to her! You treat her like everybody else!"
Charla: "I'm getting a headache."
Mirna: "Doctoro! Doctoro!"

It's up right on time tonight. JVJ and Kevin & Drew don't guess which team is next to arrive, but are certainly happy to see friendly faces. David and Mary fill them in on the order of the racers and how they parted ways with Charla and Myrna. And they saved the master suite for the first married couple to arrive. The whole place looks quite plush.

Yeah I watched it. I can't figure it out why they're promoting this so much. It's cool to see them after they're eliminated I guess, but all the "episodes" are so boring! I guess we can hope it will be more interesting later with more teams and more drama built up among the teams.

I have not been one to say raaaaaaaaaaaace, even though I've thought it. BUT:
In talking about their split with Mirna and Charla, Mary said, "I'd rather step on the mat with someone than beat them." Is it even possible that she's looking at the race like that? Has she even seen the show? I can only shake my head at this attitude. It looked to me like Jill and Drew were having similar thoughts.
P.S. How sweet of the first arrivers to save the master suite for the married couple. And grudging props to Mary for being so appreciative.

While Jill probably has good intentions (and she does well as impromptu host of eliminitation station), I'm guessing that JVJ nor Frats wanted the single king in the master suite. I think JVJ would've jumped at the master suite, if they wanted to share a bed.

This isn't exactly Big Brother, but I think it's kind of neat. I think it will get more interesting watch as the teams have been stuck in there longer and the stakes in the race get higher. It's a little odd seeing the teams in that context though. They're just shooting the shit, being bored.

Jill is doing a great job of "hostessing" this show. I'm not sure if TPTB intended that or not, but she's doing a great job. It's nice to see more of these teams, even thought I'd rather see them racing. This is a great little add on.

I try not to be massively harsh on Mary but she is insufferable in those few Elimination Station moments, telling them all about how Mirna and Charla passed them and she would have gone on the mat with that team (David said they and Charla/Mirna were supposed to wait and go on the mat together), and then in the next breath, says the winner should be someone who didn't have any help in winning.
She's so consumed with toxic righteousness.
Drew also seems to be a negative person, from his general demeanor on the clips. He's not as bad now because the other people sequestered are people who know how to handle him.
The part where my blood pressure rose was when Mary laughed about 'nobody' wanting to live with Charla and Mirna. Mary is the definition of fair weather friend.

I love the way nobody was agreeing with Mary when she was talking about how she would step on a mat with a team sooner than pass them. She's still not comprehending the race part.
I missed her saying that nobody wanted to be in a house with Charla/Mirna. I thought she was saying that nobody wanted to be in the house instead of on the race. I'd have to hear that again. I'm just thankful that they're off the race.
Really, aside from JVJ, the people who should be in Sequesterville, are so far. Now, Charla/Mirna, there is a bell tolling for thee.

Mary contradicted herself quite a bit by the pool. First she says that she was mad at Charla/Mirna for not working with them and being nice to them. Then she says that the team that wins should win by not having anyone else help them, as they should get it on their own.
Also, more of Jill being totally awesome.

Yes, it is. I don't know what Mary was thinking. Teams that step on the mat together receive seperate placements, based, I think, on their placement the previous leg (such as the India leg of TAR7, where Romber and Ron/Kelly stepped on the mat at essentially the same time. Mary doesn't know what she's talking about (as they started the leg last, they would have been eliminated anyway).
I did think the footage of Drew getting a massage was a bit odd, just in the way it was filmed.
