Not sure if it's kosher to create this thread, but I didn't see it anywhere else.
Has anyone been able to get the video of yesterday's Survivor Live? I believe that last season it was usually up by now.

I couldn't find yesterday's Survivor Live either. Also, I had Tivo'd The CBS Early Show to see the latest castoff as they always do the following Friday morning. Unless, I missed something there was not mention of her and no interview was done. I don't think there is must interest with this current season. IMO.

I just watched it on CBS.com, and Jessica seemed very cool. I'm now sorry she's gone.
Melissa, the woman who quit the night before it started, also calls in and explains in more detail about what happened.

I think Jessica's Early Show interview was preempted for the Anna Nicole Smith coverage, and they never bothered to interview her.

Finally watching this. I felt bad for Jessica having to give so much of the floor to the woman who bailed, but she handled it gracefully.

I felt bad for her too....Someone who quits before the show starts doesn't seem like the should get any press time, and whatshername calling in doesn't seem fair. I think she just wanted to explain herself so she wasn't labeled a "quitter."

That she suffers from panic attacks, and that in the final day or two leading up to the beginning of the game, she suffered as many as three attacks on one single day. She said she tried to get it under control herself and when she couldn't, she spoke to her "handler" (or whatever they're called - someone to contact if a contestant has an issue). They had her spend quite a bit of time with the on-site psychologist, and eventually they called in one of the producers - she didn't say who. She said she was never pressured to make a decision one way or another and she got the impression from the producer that the show wanted what SHE thought was best for herself, which was obviously to leave.
I dunno. According to this person the producers knew full well that she had this panic disorder, so I call foul on the producers for casting her in the first place, probably in the hopes that it would be worth some drama.

I know I've read somewhere that they allow people to take antidepressants on the Island but I don't remember where I read it sorry.
Nothing wrong with giving people with minor mental health conditions a shot. A very large section of the population suffers from anxiety or depression.

Re the quitter: one of Jeff's pre-show interviews said that normally, the production team determines both mentally and physically if there's any need for backup players, as people have quit and dropped out days before the game starts. They only bring as many backups as needed (because for remote locations, any extra bodies at sequesterville is costly) But specifically in this case, they determined they needed no backups, and thus had to rehash the plans of the first few days when she did drop out (including how tribes would be split, and so forth).
I think that interview was posted over in the media thread, but I know it's also linked in from Wikipedia too.

Anyone have trouble with the sound on the videos? I can barely hear the people talking.
Is there a site where some kind soul has made these available without having to go through InnerTube, such has been done with TAR on RFF?

EagleIslandGirl, I don't have any sound either when I first start the videos, but I discovered that if I use the sound button on Innertube to mute the video, then un-mute it again, then I have sound. Weird.
On a completely unrelated topic.....this is the first time I've watched any of the Suvivor Live videos and I've just gotta say I don't know how many more I'll be able to take.....Jenna Morasca gets on my last nerve. She's horrible.

I consider Jenna unwatchable also. That is why I read the re-caps when people think they are worth writing about. I can't understand why she has that job when there are so many better options. Which would be just about anyone else other than Jenna. I stopped watching the season she was on because I found her unbearable. In my world she was voted out like a Parvati.

Ok, I can't even stand to watch Edgardo's interview right now. It is seriously worse than even, like, Nate. For real. And I find Stephanie even more insufferable than Jenna. Seriously. She's not a permanent co-host this season, is she? The whole thing is sending me into a rage blackout.

I feel so badly for Dalton. I pretty much always do, though. Even if they have an intelligent, nice player, he still has Jenna to contend with. It is truly sad.
Edgardo's whole take on Cassandra was weird and hypocritical. First, he said she was just coasting through the game (like Cirie, which kind of made even that sound ridiculous), then he said that she was using Dreamz (which suggests to me that she wasn't just coasting) and that it was so disgusting that'd she use a homeless guy who doesn't believe in himself. Then, later, he said he never trusted Dreamz and was just using him. What? Damn, I hate him.

I gave him . . . faint praise, at best. If you heard the caller who said he and Dreamz were the only two of the Four Horsemen he found "palatable," that was me.

I did hear that one and I gave a small fist pump after it. So, thank you for that! I wish someone would really lay into him, though.
I actually think Stephanie is coming off worse than even Edgardo, though. I also can't stand all the 'STEPHANIE! You're amazing and beautiful! You should have WON!' calls. Plus, she just said that everyone told her that if they would have had more time to think, they would have voted for her over Danni and that everyone would have voted for her in the first place if it weren't for Judd. Whatever, bitch. HATE HER.
Ok, I take these things far too seriously. Why can't I just stop watching?

I had a good laugh at that one. Whatever gets you to sleep at night, Steph.
However what really cracked me up was when Edgardo (re: C/YM recruiting B/D over to the Syndicate) said, "You're not going to backstab someone who takes you on a yacht!" and Steph says, "Well maybe not...".
Just ask Judd and Cindy!
Minus the rewriting of history, I think Steph is a better co-host than Jenna who just derails the conversation every time.

I can't watch Stephenie like, at all, because it only reminds me of how much I hated her in Guatemala.
I did watch the Top Ten Survivor Challenges countdown that she hosted, which was several different combinations of bizarre, especially that she made fun of some poor Token Woman of A Certain Age during the Thailand F3 competition. Ew. Don't do that Steph. It's not like you, allegedly the show's strongest woman ever, won
your F3 competition.
I think Steph is a better co-host than Jenna who just derails the conversation every time.
I'm no big Jenna fan, either, but as bitchy and petty as she is, she at least talks about Survivors other than herself. And as excruciating as the "banter" between Dalton and Jenna is, I think Jenna still comes off as much more comfortable. Steph always seem kind of awkward.

Jenna and Mookie are talking about how it seems that some people (Cassandra and Stacy) are coasting and riding coattails. I hate that shit. Especially when it comes from Jenna. Anyway, I don't think anyone left is riding coattails or 'ok with fifth place.' However, if anyone is, it's Boo or, at this point, Alex, not Cass or Stacy. It seems clear to me that the only reason they believe those two are riding coattails is because they're woman.
I can already tell this episode is going to drive me mad. I don't think it'll be as bad as Ed's though.

My goodness that was awful! Jenna was a horror as per usual, the calls were boring and I think time actually stood still while Jenna and Dalton played that silly, and oh so DULL, game. Way to have your guest just sit there while the hosts do something not involving said guest. Yikes!

I hate how Jenna reads the spoilers and then guesses who will make it to the end based on that info. She picked Dreamz knowing he'd make it, she did the same thing in Palau I remember. She's really ruining the show for me when she does that, I hate spoilers, and she's not very subtle about the whole thing.

Although I didn't watch Survivor Live regularly, I am still sorry it's gone. And surprised. Survivor is not a sinking ship, and if it truly won its 8:00 Thurday time slot (assuming it was up against returning shows and not just re-runs), then it is still a serious contender.

I wonder how many people actually watched Survivor Live. The fact that it was occasionally the same people getting through on the phones implies not many, really.
I wonder if this means they'll drop Finish Line too.

Ah, that's a shame. I won't miss Jenna, I always enjoyed Dalton -- although Richard gets my vote for best co-host.
I watched it fairly regularly. I'd watch it when a favorite who'd been booted appeared, or if the guest was good male eye-candy.

I'm also kind of sad. Didn't like Jenna, but I had a soft spot for Dalton, since he was one of the few EW writers, that always liked Survivor, and wasn't ashamed to admit it.
I didn't watch it all the time, but whenever it had an intersting guest (Jonathan, Yul, etc.), it could be quite an interesting episode. And I enjoyed Tom (Palau) episode, since Jenna was vocally rooting against them, and while she was all smiles, it defintely kind of looked like she was unhappy, when he showed up as the winner.

And, you know they were doing the show for the love of Survivor. I doubt they were getting paid much and it was on the internet, but Dalton and Jenna were totally into it. Also, it gave the castaways a place to talk about the game. I remember when the early show would have the castoff's at the top of the show and then would interview them for like 5 or 10 mintues and later they were taking viewer calls. I really miss that as well. If you ever come across the Outback DVD (I think it's a best of) they show the interviews in full. They have everyone and it's when I really liked Amber and Elizabeth. Not so much now, though. Good times indeed.

I just left feedback at cbs.com to bring back Survivor Live. I love Dalton's insight and obvious knowledge of the game. Jenna's OK, but it really is about picking the brains of the contestants, after the fact and with hindsight of course being 20/20. What happened from their perspective and without Burnett's edit. That's why I love to watch.

Ah, that's a shame. Survivor Live had it's faults, but I still enjoyed it and looked forward to it after each episode. I was puzzled and disappointed when I went to the CBS Survivor site after the first episode this season and couldn't find a link for Survivor Live.

Hopefully, if/when they bring it back, they'll have a new co-host to replace Morasca. Her faults are too numerous to list.
Possible replacement candidates? I'd enjoy either Shii-Ann, Cirie, or Jonathon Penner.

I would agree that Morasca could be replaced and that improvements would results. However, I would enjoy seeing Shii Ann about as much as I would a kick in the shins. I like Cirie, but I really think they need to have a winner there for credibility. I think Danni would be excellent.

Does anyone have the 411 on whether Survivor Live is coming back this week? I'll even take Jenna (who doesn't bother me as much as she does everyone else) because I have/had the ritual of watching Survivor, taping CBS Early Show for next day interview (which they haven't done in a long time) and then Survivor Live. I wonder if this is the reason why I am still a single male at the age of 43? Nah! That couldn't be it. Anything on Survivior Live?

I came right over to post myself when I read the news. Do we need to start a new thread since it isn't quite the same show?
Here are the details:
Every Monday you can check out our new Survivor Talk video show. The brilliant Josh Wolk and considerably less brilliant yours truly (Dalton Ross) will be hanging out with the castoff and asking him or her all about what happened on the island. You can check it out at ew.com/survivorvideo.
I'm thrilled - castoff interviews, without Jenna!
