That works better for me - no pile up between Survivor & NBC comedies. Also, the low ratings don't matter as much Friday nights. Good move, ABC.

But that also means lower ad money and cut backs on set.

CW has moved Smallville to Friday nights so it's not going to be a walk in the park.

UB has been airing against SV since it premiered; so that's not really a new factor.

I don't know about UB's ratings, but SV's ratings are down quite a bit. The finale aired last week and the numbers were pretty bad. I don't know how well it'll perform on Fridays, but I'm a regular viewer and I didn't even know CW had programming on Fridays.

I also think with the economy tanking the way it is, people are more inclined to stay at home and watch television.

At least for me, I'm too old to party on Friday *and* Saturday. Fridays will be Ghost Whisperer/Ugly Betty (Ugly Whisperer?) night for me.

Is there a reason that when you load ABC's full episode player it has a box at the top for Ugly Betty and says "Watch the Series Finale Now!"?

...The show isn't over, right?

"Enhanced" episodes in the new Friday timeslot:

Get ready for the Season Four premiere of "Ugly Betty" with a special presentation of last five episodes enhanced with on-screen facts. The enhanced version of "Ugly Betty" will include text on the lower third of the screen and will let viewers in on clues in the show, as well as give back story to catch new viewers up for Season Four.

The enhanced version episodes are:
Friday, August 14 "Rabbit Test"
Friday, August 21 "The Born Identity"
Friday, August 28 "In the Stars"
Friday, September 4 "Curveball"
Friday, September 11 "The Fall Issue"

The award-winning series returns for a diva-licious fourth season on ABC Fridays this fall from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET, with a special two-hour season premiere on Friday, October 9, 8:00-10:00 p.m., ET.

Also there are a some episodes now up on Hulu.com, as well as some of the "Mode After Dark" webisodes, and the "Sins of the Heart" telenovella.

Why would they do this now, then take three weeks off between airing an enhanced finale & the season premiere?

I dunno; but ABC is airing the ALMA Awards Friday Sept. 18, so maybe they just wanted to air them consecutively.
