There should be certain strictly enforced laws that all those making or starring in commercials must follow, with the violation being a Class A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison listening 24/7 to the offending ad.

The first should be The Rule of 120: Anyone whose age, combined by the amount in pounds that they are overweight by, exceeds 120, cannot discuss taking a bath, appear next to a bathtub, appear in a bathtub or engage in any other speech or behavior which puts a visual of that person nude, in the minds of defenseless viewers.

Another one that I think should be made is that, since nothing is really free of charge in this country, advertisers that say "Free" in their ads should be subjected to the same punishment. It's embarrassing to order something from a television or radio ad that promises a free gift with your order of the primary product, only to have to pay taxes on the so-called free gift. For example, one TV ad I saw had an easy can opener on pitch. The free gift, I believe, was an easy bottle opener. Imagine someone's disappointment (more likely anger) when they discover that that free easy bottle opener was not really free. They'd likely be saying, "Hey! They said this was free! Why do I have to pay for it?!"

Here's one more: Those that insist that you "need" a certain weight-loss pill. To wit: I get sick and tired of this ugly female voice saying "You need Relacore! You need Relacore! You need Relacore!" 3-4 times in the same commercial break. I'll tell you the truth-- I need Relacore like I need a hole in the head-- that is to say, I don't really need it, and I don't really want it.
