Kilonji
I was wondering if anyone has been watching this. It's pretty dark to begin with, but now it's taking an even more sinister turn and I'm dying to know what people make of this.
NoWayMan
This is a series? I thought it was a one off anime about a female vampire slayer, very much in the Buffy vein.
Kilonji
It is a series, and it does follow the subject matter of the anime closely, but the plot is completely different. It's up to 23 eps so far, and it's damn near the most intense anime I watch (and i watch a lot of anime).
john mora
I watched the first episode, and it was all right, but I couldn't really get into it. I hear it's supposed to be, like, 50 episodes or so long?
Leanan
Yeah, I believe it'll be 50 or 52 episodes. It took over Gundam SEED Destiny's timeslot.

I watched the first episode, too, and thought it was all right. I've got more downloaded but haven't watched anymore since I've been busy with school and work. Nevermind that I watch so many other series, it's hard to keep up-to-date with everything. But based on what little I've seen, I like it more than I like the movie.
Kilonji

I felt the same way, and also I had problems with Saya's character. She seemed a little dumb to me. But as the episodes go on, she gets smarter becasue she has to. Lately it's gotten completely gut-wrenching because she's getting it from all sides-- the Chiroptera, Red Shield and another group, the Schiff . She has no idea who to trust and while she tries to sort it out people are getting pretty bloodied up around her.

Spoilers 'cause, well, better safe than sorry.
mangaqueen
I've seen about seven episodes so far on youtube...I"m addicted.

Yeah it's about a female slayer; it's supposed to be a spin off from Blood the Last Vampire isn't it?

I have no problems with Saya, but so far I like Hagi.
john mora
I've read a few spoilers on what happens past where I've watched but I still don't think it's something I'd end up enjoying. Maybe if it eventually ends up on Adult Swim I'll give it a try.
Kilonji
It's been liscensed, but I doubt AS would ever pick it up. On top of being bloody, it's damn depressing. Maybe not Wolf's Rain depressing, but close.
Kris_AB
I rented the film when it came out on DVD and really liked it. For such a short piece of anime (30 minutes, I think?), there was a lot there, or at least a lot implied/enough material for viewers to interpret as they like, in addition to all the action, horror, and beautiful animation to keep me satisfied. Also really liked how the Japanese/American language thing worked, that was cool.

Is the TV series an actual direct continuation/expansion of the film? Does it have the same feel as the film, is the animation worthy of it (obviously they can't get a 50-episode+ series looking that good, or at least not for most eps) ?

There's also apparently a Blood manga out as well...did the writer(s) of the film have anything to do with it, is it considered canon? How many volumes did it last, or was there only one?
mangaqueen
Hey if AS can show Wolf's Rain and Paranoia Agent and even Fullmetal ALchemist, then they would have no problems showing this.

The Blood manga is from the movie universe, not the tv show, though from what I"ve read, there's several manga related to the show that's out in Japan now.

There's actually two books of manga that I know of...well actually one. Viz had published something a few years back and more recently, there's a novel out.
akaThorne
I just downloaded 24 eps and gorged myself on them - watched them all in about 4 days. I love it! I caught the movie on cable a couple months ago and thought, "Hmmm, interesting. They should do more with that character." And they did.

Yeah, it's dark, but it's also really funny sometimes (although that might be my sick sense of humor, but come on! The lead bishie carries around a coffin shaped cello case and kicks ass with it! The lead character hatches out of a cocoon every 30 years! Hilarious!).

I love Hagi and Solomon and their pretty, pretty faces and pretty, pretty fighting. Pretty! But I am so very tired of Kai running around and screaming at everyone. Why couldn't he have gotten eaten instead of Riku? Well, if he had, then we'd have to deal with him being immortal and annoying, so I suppose it's for the best.

I'm glad to hear there are 50+ eps, because I'm in love with this show.
Kilonji
I'm glad to hear there are 50+ eps, because I'm in love with this show.

Awesome. I just knew sooner or later I'd come across another fanatic. Especially now. And as far as that question goes. . .

Why couldn't he [Kai] have gotten eaten instead of Riku?

My theory is Riku= cute, sweet and irreplacable. Kai= annoying as hell with an even more annoying girlfriend. No loss there. Also, I've always had the suspicion that Haji was grooming Riku, with the teaching him cello, and did you notice how Amshel when he was pretending to be the Russian woman couldn't keep his hands off the kid? Riku's a chiroptera magnet.
akaThorne
Someone else who loves the show! YAY!

I knew Riku was in for something, because he heard Diva's song - only Saya, the Chiroptera, and the Chevaliers seem to hear it although I kind of thought that they might go with him being like Saya and Diva, and "special" instead of making him Saya's Chevalier. And Amshel wanted to SHOWER with the poor kid! Ick!

But you are right, he and Hagi had a connection from the beginning, which I like, because I like pretty much anything with Hagi. And I like Riku's sweetness, and I'm interested to see where they take his character now that he's going to be stuck in a child's body forever. What happens when he realizes that his sister and brother doomed him to be 10 years old for all time? I'm betting he doesn't take it well, is what.

Kai....god, so shouty! So annoying! I don't care about the reporter and Kai's pining, annoying girlfriend, not even a little. And while I think they are setting it up so that Kai joins Red Shield and has to fight Saya, Hagi, and maybe Riku at some point, I still hope he goes away soon.

I'm dying for more of Hagi and Saya's backstory, I want to know everything! And there's still so much left unexplained.
Kilonji
Not just unexplained, but a whole new window of opportunity here. I'm actually kind of surprised this is stopping at 54 eps, seeing as there are so many levels to the story.
What I think would really be cool is Riku having something to do with bringing the Schiff over to be temporary allies of Red Shield. The Schiff only want to live, and I don't put it past Red Shield to try to help them, even if only to use them for help in taking down Diva. Who would be an awesome envoy? Our sweet, kind Riku.
Once he's dealt with the concept of never getting any older, of course.

And as for Kai, he's already in it. Once he was given access to Joel's diary, remember David told him he could never return to his normal life? He's bagged and tagged.
mangaqueen
I'd be fine with Kai bites it. Shut up Kai.

Do they go into Hagi and Saya's backstory at all? *has only seen about eight episodes* and yes you can spoil me.
akaThorne
Yes, they do go quite into their backstory, and it is DELIGHTFUL. Hee. There are several eps that deal with bits of them, especially in the 18-24 ep range. There's almost an entire ep devoted to how they met and how Hagi became devoted to her.

The translation I saw of the other vampires was "Sif." I wonder which is more correct? Sif is a Norse goddess, which didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I don't know much about Norse mythology. And I think your idea with Riku would be really interesting. It depends on how he sees Kai and Saya now - will he be thankful to them or angry? Will he side with one of them more than the other? I think they are setting up a family battle. Saya absolutely broke my heart when Kai said she had to save HIS brother. She looked so devastated.
Kilonji
Do they go into Hagi and Saya's backstory at all? *has only seen about eight episodes* and yes you can spoil me.

Okay, you asked for it. This is what I understand, and please someone correct me if I'm wrong, 'cause, well, Haji's hotness can cause mental instability.

1. Saya is at least 100 years old. After a few years of activity both she and her younger sister Diva hibernate.
2. Diva is her only biological relative. Both of them were created by the original Joel, who Diva later killed.
3. When Saya met Haji, he was a cute as a button little boy of eleven or twelve.
4. Saya only realized she was different because Haji aged and she didn't. She had no contact with Diva because Joel separated them. Diva was imprisoned on the property where Saya lived.
5. Haji was nearly killed in an accident. To save him, Saya fed him her blood. That is why he is a Chevelier.
6. According to Diva's Chevaliers, Haji is "meant" for Diva. This does not stop Solomon from trying to kill him, however.

What I'm mostly curious about is how Diva got her Chevaliers. That story is gonna be mindblowing if we ever hear it.

Saya absolutely broke my heart when Kai said she had to save HIS brother. She looked so devastated.

I damn near bawled at that scene.
akaThorne
I think you got all the major points, Kilonji. Except that I would add that Hagi was totally sassy as a little boy, and I loved it. Also, Saya taught him the cello song he keeps playing, and I think it's incredibly sweet and sad that he keeps playing it around her, trying to jog her memory. Waaaaaaaah! I love him.

Oh, I'm curious about how Diva got her Chevaliers, also, and what their plan is, since apparently they get Saya? And Diva gets Hagi? Whaaaaaaaa? Vampire orgy! And you know what else I want to know really bad? What is the deal with Hagi's hand? All the other Chevaliers look perfectly human, and Hagi did too, in the flashbacks. So what happened?

Anyone have a link to any of the music from the series? I'm jonesing for it.
akaThorne
I'm double posting like whoa, but it's been over a week, and I have presents:

The Blood+ episode 26 opening video (which is beautiful) and the mp3.

Shinsen Subs has ep 26 up now, and I watched it last night. Anyone else seen it?
Kilonji
Shinsen Subs has ep 26 up now, and I watched it last night. Anyone else seen it?

EEEK! akathorne, you have so made my day!!!

I'm not seeing Ep 26 at this point, but hey, the new opening is enough to hold me for now. Thanks :)
akaThorne
D'oh! I mean ep 25! But I do expect them to have ep 26 up soon. Bakakozou is out of commission for a while with subbing, but I don't think it will be too long a wait for ep 26. They are only up to 28 in Japan, I think.

And the new opening is gorgous, isn't it? I can't wait to see the whole ep. We can talk about ep 25 until then, if that helps the time pass. Something I've been wondering (maybe I just missed it) - I know that Saya and Diva were created by Joel. And the Chevaliers were created by Saya and Diva. So where are the regular Chiroptera from? Have they said?
Kilonji
As near as I can figure, the Chiroptera preceded humans. Did you get that conversation betweent the Red Shield scientist (I forget his name, he seems like a possible weasel to me) and that candy-loving creep? Pretty squicky implication-wise.

And how about that one-track Kai? Would it have killed him to talk to his sister?
akaThorne
Which part was squicky? I need to rewatch. Was it the implication that someone uh...mated? Is that a good word? With a Chiropteran female? There was that bit about Chiroptera being older than humans now that I think about it. But I still want to know the origin.

Kai is a punk ass. But I did like that he's not being nasty to Hagi. The scene with the cello music was almost sweet. But maybe he figures Riku will need Hagi's help or something, so he better not be an ass. Which has got to be almost impossible for him. Also, can we just give up on the reporter and girl story? I don't care.

But the previews for ep 26! Please tell me Riku eats Kai! Well, fine, I'm 99% sure he won't,but wouldn't it be awesome?
Kilonji
Candyman wants to meet up in Paris with Red Shield scientist/possible weasel. The scientist, possibly lured by the scent of a Nobel prize, did not tell him no. This could be very bad.

Reporter and annoying Kai girlfriend? I hope Diva eats them. And then dies of some kind of food poisoning.

Riku eating Kai? I'd pay good money to see that. Definietely.
akaThorne
I did catch that about the Red Shield guy. It did seem ominious, espeically since he seems to view Saya as nothing more than a living weapon, and Riku as nothing more than a fascinating expirement. Not good!

HA! To Diva eating the reporter and Annoying Girl. Solomon could do it too, I wouldn't mind seeing more of him. Speaking of him, do you think the Chevaliers need blood to survive? I've never seen one of them eating (food or otherwise) that I remember.

I hope Riku scares the pee out of Kai. I would enjoy that a lot. Because I am mean. Hee.
akaThorne
Bakakozou has ep 26 up, for real! I'm downloading now to watch tonight.
Kilonji
Bakakozou has ep 26 up, for real! I'm downloading now to watch tonight.

Watched it, and. . . hmmmmmm.

I need to process this overnight. What exactly did Kai think would happen? Crybaby. Based on the previews I assume Riku only took a couple of bites out of him. Oh well. Better luck next time.

And where is creepy possible weasel doctor Liz seems to adore? His absence is really suspicious.
akaThorne
Well, I do sort of feel bad for Kai. Just a few weeks ago, he had a father, a sister, and a little brother. Now his dad is dead, his sister is not human, and his little brother died and became something not human too. That's a lot to take in. But yeah, he still gets on my nerves. I can't count the number of times I rolled my eyes at him this ep. Also, he needs to stop moping and yelling and start becoming productive, or they are going to leave him in port one of these times.

Diva? Is weird, dude. What's with the toy killing? Solomon so wants to ditch the crazy girl and go hang out with Saya and Hagi. I kind of hope he does, too.

The Sif/Schiff are confusing but cool. I want to be able to levitate in a colored mist! I'm very curious about their origin, hopefully that will be in the next ep.

I don't like the new ending theme song. It's sappy. And too slow. Bleh.
Kilonji
27 is out!!!!

On behalf of the Shut-Up-Kai League, I would like to make one concession. He said, "All i have to do is make sure they have a home to come back to, and defend it." Not just Riku. Both of them. Kai, it seems you are growing up and I am pleased.

Just dump that stupid mafia princess when you see her and all of your past transgressions will be forgeven.

Seems that my theory about the Schiff is partially true. Yay me. Who would have thought the emissary would be Kai and not Riku?

Something is definitely going on with Solomon.
akaThorne
I just watched it myself!

I'm still on the "Shut up Kai" train, but he did win points tonight, big time. They are still spending waaaaaay too much time on his emo angst, but at least he's coming around to being less of an ass. And really, I did expect him to, because he's a good guy, and he wants to take care of his family, but didn't know how. So now he's got a handle on things. But I'm betting that his idea to just give away Saya's blood isn't going to go down so great with David and Hagi.

It was only a matter of time until someone reached out to the Sif/Schiff. I kind of thought it would be Saya, but she's all wrapped up in....something. What WAS she doing at the library? And how much do you want to bet that Hagi was lurking in the stacks all night watching her? Heh.

Solomon! Come to the good side, baby! You and Hagi can stand around and try to out-pretty each other! It'll be fun!

You know who is really up to no good? Ansel. For real, he's creepy. And he makes Diva call him Daddy! Ew!
darkguardian
Well damn I didn't even know they made a series based on the OAV. I remember being blown away by the artwork in the original OAV series. At the time it was pretty revolutionary. Since then not so much. The actual OAV itself wasn't that great. Standard vampire fare. The series sounds interesting though. The Vampire series I am currently watching is Lunar Legend: Tsukohime. Or something like that. Its one of those anime series with like 10 names. I think it only went for 12 episodes, I'm on episode 7 now. I'm way way behind on anime. My brother keeps giving me various series to watch. So I just grabbed what was on the top of the pile. Which was this one. I've also got. Bleach, Naruto, Yutake! Japan (I've seen about 4 episodes of this and its absolutely hilarious). So I guess the Blood series is another one I need to check out.

But even through all the old anime I have seen (I'm a very old school anime fan) and the new stuff I have seen I don't think any series I have seen has matched the Kenshin OAV series. Best anime ever. Blood though sounds like it might bare a few similarities to the Kenshin OAV's with the dark tone and extreme violence.
Kilonji
Blood though sounds like it might bare a few similarities to the Kenshin OAV's with the dark tone and extreme violence.

That and then some. I just watched 28 and 29. Kai, you are not just forgiven. I am truly sorry. But you didn't know. So you and Saya need to stop beating yourselves up.

However, no matter how touching it is that Mao wants to help, I still can't stand her whiny ass.

Poor Irene. Damn near cried when Saya scattered the rest of her from the Eiffel tower.

And the rest of the Schiff? They now will be after Diva exclusively.

Oh yeah, it's on.

And the Riku? Still cute as hell.
akaThorne
Aww, Kai. I'm back on the I Love Kai Train. Well, I was never on it before, but I am now. When he wrapped his arms around Saya to protect her from the Sif, I totally forgave him. I cracked up when Mao was all "I want to be your strength!" and he told her to shut up. Hee.

Hagi! Talking! And hugging! And smiling! Even though the rat bastards didn't show it! Still! Very exciting. But! What was all that about Riku staying with Saya when Hagi can't? I do not like the sound of that at all. If something happens to Hagi, there will be HELL TO PAY, I TELL YOU. CAPSLOCK OF RAGE!

Riku is so sweet he makes me want to cry, man. The new clothes are a bit of a giveaway that he's a dead boy, though. He's turning into a mini-Hagi.

I'm really hoping they don't go for a Kai/Saya thing, here. What with the reconciliation between them, and the bonding, and then the scene at the Eiffel Tower, I'm scared. They're siblings! Ew!

So it sounds like Ansel and various other people are making new Chiroptera that are even worse? That line about encasing the failures in cement and dropping them in the Atlantic was really ominous.
suntzu
I tracked it down on the IMDB, and it sounds cool. I'll make a special effort to catch it on TV or DVD. Speaking of DVD, does anyone know when/if it's coming out?
akaThorne
Shinsen subs has ep 30 out! I'm not going to be able to watch until later tonight, and it's KILLING ME. We're only an ep or two behind now, which is awesome, and I tracked down the "Hagi Plays Bach" cd last night. It's been a good Blood+ week!
Kilonji
Hasn't it though? We get more backstory (which we knew) and a little more (which we didn't know.)

Red Shield caused berserker Saya in Vietnam. They forcibly woke her up by injecting her with Hagi's blood, which causeda bad reaction. Aside from all the innocent bystanders she slaughtered, she tried to kill Hagi. His missing right hand is her doing. Which is more heartbreaking than a lot of things we've seen here, and we've seen a lot.

Kai is on the outside again, if foreshadowing means anything. Let's hope he finds his space and soon.
akaThorne
Oh man, Hagi crying out "Saya, don't you remember me?" as she cut him down juuuuuust about broke my heart.

Several things that I found interesting: Amshel is basically the reason Saya and Diva exist, and they had his blood first. And he was Joel's assistant! Which means he knew Hagi, and puts that "You're a failed Chevalier!" speech Amshel gave Hagi back in Russia a new context. And I wonder when he went from Joel's loyal assistant to Diva's Chevalier? And Hagi being brought to the Zoo as a breeder - which even at such a young age, he knew - and Saya not realizing it until just now. It puts a whole new spin on their relationship. I had always assumed that they were lovers at some point, but now I'm not sure they were. I mean....how does he not hate her? How can he still be so devoted to her? I think I would have some anger issues towards her if I were him. I do think she's falling in love with him, though - the looks she keeps shooting him are almost painful, they are so longing.

Kai. Poor, poor Kai. I had a thought that since he's literally cut off from them - Riku and Saya happily following Hagi, Hagi being the male figure in thier lives - that Kai might either ask Saya to make him a Chevalier, or Diva might take him as one of her Chevaliers. How much damn angst would that cause? A LOT. And I would enjoy it.

suntzu, Blood+ has been licensed by Sony, and they do plan to release it in North America on DVD, but there's no date set for it, yet.
nausicaa
BIG ASS SPOILER for episode +32:

Riku fucking dies. By rape.

Smacks head against teh wall.
akaThorne
Why the hell did I read that? Now I wish I'd never started watching this show and got attached to these characters. This makes me very worried for the ending of the series, as they still have 20+ eps to go. Super grim.
Kilonji
I can't comment right nowbut to say this: If it's true, the next twenty episodes best be a Diva -killing, maiming and torturing bloodbath. She'd better suffer.

And oh yes, Adult Swim better pick this shit up.
akaThorne
If she's the one who did it. I suspect Amshel, myself. Since he wanted to shower with Riku in Russia. Creepy bastard. And yeah, there better be some severe payback.
Kilonji
Just saw the RAW. Yes, she did it. It's on. It's definitely on. That is one sick, twisted little kreller and I can't wait unitl she gets it. I felt sorry for her for a while because of how she was treated at the Zoo, but I don't anymore. There's a point where one's past no longer excuses one's actions, and I'll bet she passed that point a long time ago. So DIE, DIVA!!
nausicaa
And oh yes, Adult Swim better pick this shit up.

It really, really should. I'm not sure why Blood+ isn't getting much love here in the States. It's got the winning combination - violence, angst, and blood-sucking bishounen with kinky claws. Add two cups of Vampire Hunter D, one cup of Buffy, a teaspoon of Titus Andronicus, mix and you'd get something that looks like this series.

Yeah, I'd found Diva to be an unique, albeit psychotic brand of charming, a worthy foil to Saya, but no longer. Law XVII of the Anime Universe: You never mess with the kid. Unless you're Hitler. And I bet even Hitler would have wibbled at Riku's woobiness. Somewhere down in the deepest darkest bowels of Earth the Horned One just created the tenth circle, a VVIP section of Hell.

Aargh bloody aargh.
akaThorne
You know, I was thinking, they should just kill off Diva's Chevaliers and then when she woke up, not awaken her, and see if she could be a normal girl, like Saya was. I don't think that's a possibility now. And I don't want it to be. I want her dead. Hagi, Saya, and Kai better get her.

And you know, if this series ends up all Wolf's Rain "everybody dies in cleansing new beginning!" bullshit, I'm going to be seriously put out.

I'm quite surprised there only seem to be 3-4 of us watching this right now, even though it's only available via subs. It's got violence, vampires, thwarted love, and pretty boys, people should be alllll over it.
nausicaa
Yeah, I think Diva's too far gone for redemption now.

It's just us three in the sandbox, it seems. Wheee!

I think part of the reason Blood+ is languishing in semiobscurity is simply that it's too long. I mean, not that I'm complaining, but in an age when anime series - even the big-name, stellar ones - run for 13 eps, or 24 at the most, 52 might seem too daunting. At its length, Blood+ also runs into the problem of lax plotting; I mean, do we really, really need all those 'transition' episodes in between story arcs, and filler characters like Mao and the reporter guy, and entirely background eps like 17, 22, and 30 (which in able hands could easily be incorporated into the main storyline)?

They also really dropped the ball in terms of character interaction, I think. I mean, yes, we get a lot of back-and-forths between Kai and Saya, but us fangirls are interested in the protagonist and her love interest, dammit, and the one they've given us (Hagi, namely) has all the personality of a dead doornail. There's no dynamism, no tension between Saya and Hagi. Where's the feelings of resentment and betrayal clashing with yearning and devotion? Why even hire a voice actor for Hagi if you ban him from emoting? When Hagi fell off that cliff, did his balls fall off too? I mean, sure there's inscrutable and stoic, but I think they really did a disservice to the character by taking the portrayal to such an extreme that it almost seems like a dehumanization.

And they should really do more with the (unfortunately named) Schiff. Moses is an intelligent character that (like Hagi) is underused, and the Schiff's plight has some real pathos to it. Alienated from the world, betrayed by their masters, destined to be mortal, yet never human. Touches all the themes of this show. (Btw, wouldn't it be an awesome twist if it turns out that Diva's blood can't save them neither, that they weren't created from her blood in the first place, that it was all a part of a joke that the scientists and the military-industrial complex played to prey on their all-too-human feelings of hope?)

Don't get me wrong, I really like Blood+, and I'm pretty much addicted at this point. But it's got wasted potential. I wonder what the results would be like had someone like Satoishi Kon been at the helm.
akaThorne
I think they've made major mistakes with the characterizations of everyone, though, except maybe Riku.

Saya comes off as alternately cold and overly emotional, with a super side helping of stupid/non-observant. Kai is shouty and ineffective as the human family counterweight to Hagi's coolly inhuman love interest. Hagi is too devoted, and too inscrutable - he should definitely have mixed feelings about this whole deal, and maybe he does, but we never see it. David should have major reservations about working with the girl who killed his father, but he never seems to mind.

The Schiff are just...a mess. No real characterization, little motive, no reason to invest in them as individuals emotionally. They were introduced as total badasses, but never lived up to that threat.

Diva and her Chevaliers are similarly underused (except for shock and to make me sick). I mean, I can only ever remember Solomon and Amshel, and that's because one is hot and the other eeeeeeevil. But I still don't know what their deal is.

In spite of all that, I've really enjoyed most of this series. I'm glad it has a finite end, but I like that they take a little longer to tell the backstory of characters who have had very long backstories. I love Hagi, despite his reserve, I've grown fond of Kai despite his angsty shouting. I love Saya, despite wanting to shake her hard and tell her to PAY ATTENTION sometimes. And Riku, of course. So they are doing something right, and I hope the payoff is worth it. Really, there are only a few things that would deeply piss me off now. One has already happened. The other would be if Hagi dies, and I'm sort of braced for that already. And if ends with total death of everyone, I'm going to be furious. I hate that shit.
Kilonji
Word, Word, and WORD.

FMA is 51 eps, and it took me about six to be in love with it. Blood+ was a hard draw for me. Like I said before, I found Saya to be a little on the stupid side to start with, and what I really feel is missing here is that for as many years as she has lived, she should have more of a backbone. Throughout this series, we have seen things happening to the protagonists here. They don't seem to make anything happen of their own accord. And considering episode 32, this lack of mastery of their own lives has to stop. From here on out, If Saya does not become an instigator and not a victim, this show will no longer be worth watching because there will be no character development.

I do think it's significant that Hagi had cut ties with Red Shield after the Vietnam incident. That in itself shows he does think, and he does feel. He was so disturbed by what happened that he willfully separated himself from the sleeping Saya just to be away from Red Shield, and that had to have really been painful for him. I do get the feeling that he believes he will have to sacrifice himself for Saya's sake eventually.

As for Kai, Riku's fate will either break him or turn him into David. Mao and the Reporter will probably be seen again, but at this point they are three-hundred pounds of useless as characters, which really makes me resent the time that has been wasted on their escapades. The same goes for the Schiff. Making us care for Irene was a really low blow. And I hate to say it, but the same goes for Riku if Saya & co. don't begin to act instead of being acted upon.

ETA: Edited for spoiler content. Damn. Should have caught myself on that. D'oh!

Oh, I'm sure more people (like me) are watching it, just that there's a great deal of spoiler avoidance going on. At least, that's MY reason for avoiding this thread.

ETA:Speaking of which, I think a bit more care needs to be taken wrt to spoilers in this thread. Particularly in the previous post and in the post the I quoted from. Please help out on this guys.

Strangely enough, even normally there doesn't seem to be that much chatter concerning this series. The current popular animes seem to be Fate/Stay Night, XXXHolic and NANA. Considering that my only current anime series are Blood+ and Ergo Proxy...

Just watched ep30, so decided to take a look in here. I goota say, the show has really found it's feet in the last 7-10 eps. It was reasonably above average before that, but it's really become interesting since ep23 or so. Hopefully they can maintain the improved quality.

I...don't know what else I can spoiler tag in my post, but I'll go back and spoiler it all. Most of it was speculation, as I've not seen any eps past 30, and only know one spoiler from eps past that.

I'm getting ready to start watching Ergo Proxy, is it any good? Is there a thread here at TWOP? I looked a couple days ago and didn't find one.
