I thought that given its increasing popularity, especially after the 2006 Winter Olympics, it might be time for a curling thread.
On Sunday from 2-4 PM ET, ESPN2 will broadcast a two hour program on the 2006 Women's World Curling Championship featuring the Gold Medal match between Sweden and the United States.

And this weekend, the Men's Worlds start up in Lowell, Mass. (Semis and finals air live on CBC next weekend.)
(Yay! Curling thread!)

Heh. The thread title sounds so diiiiiirty.
Unfortunately, I'll be vacationing abroad for the next two weeks and won't see the women's gold medal match but from what I heard it was quite a doozy and the U.S. team just fell short in the final end. Two hours on ESPN2 is pretty respectable. Hell, even soccer struggles to get that much coverage sometimes.

The gold medal match of the Men's World Curling Championship will be shown this Sunday, 3-5 P.M. ET, on ESPN2, for us unlucky Americans that don't get live curling coverage like the Canadians.

They also has the Women's World finals last month too.
No sign of the American team, though... <sigh>

NBC showed an exhibition match between the Pete Fenson and Debbie McCormick rinks today, with Dan Jansen and Picabo Street as celebrity athlete captains. I thought the celebrities would actually be involved in the match itself, but it's probably just as well that they weren't.
For those who watched, are my eyes deceiving me or has Picabo gained well over 50 pounds since her competitive skiing days? She looked fine, it was just kinda jarring though.

Yep, methinks Picabo has put on weight. I noticed that when she was on Celebrity Paranormal Project recently.
I digress.
This past weekend, CBC aired four of the skins games from the Continental Cup. On the 3rd, it's the finals of the Masters of Curling. Good times!

I'm so jealous of you Canadians. It kind of sucks NBC showed that exhibition match during the Thanksgiving holidays but I guess I'll take whatever I can get.
